    In 2019 i was attacked by a dog. He only bit me once in my face. It was so fast. I barely blinked. I got a HUGE wound in my face. I got 40 stitches. When I went to the emergency room, the doctor told me, I should consider myself very fortunate. He said the wounds he has seen mainly in children after dog attacks are devastating. I do believe dogs can cause this amount of damage. I love animals but I would NEVER leave my dogs around my children. Even the thought terrifies me.

      I always feel like in the end, they’re still animals. You may love your pets, but a dog is a dog. You should always handle and care for them with caution. Honestly I feel this way about people too 😭😭 I’m watchful and try to read people’s intent while I get to know them. Even then, I don’t think it’s possible to know what another person’s capable of, their history, emotions, state of mind

      All dogs should be trained and all people adopting dogs should be told just how vital and necessary training is.
      My first (and only) dog tried to rip my arm off when I was putting her in her cage one night. After that we used treats to get her in there and took her to training classes. It's night and day how different she behaved.

      Yes, that is what disturbs me the most! The second thing that disturbed me though was the fact the neighbor testified that the dogs had already attacked on several occasions.Had the couple taken the threat to the people injured more seriously then maybe they would not have lost the little girl . There are people that go and adopt pitbulls and other large dogs statically shown to cause death at disproportionately high percentages. They take these dogs home to families with small children and defend their new dog and their decision with passion. Then one day something unpredictable sets the otherwise affectionate dog's instincts off and a child is maimed to death. I would rather subject my child to a small terrier or Chihuahua that has a greater likelihood of biting than to a pitbull or Rottweiler that is not likely to bite but has the potential to kill. In this case the dogs already proved that they were capable of attacking.

The police and the prosecution should be ashamed and held financially accountable for the generational trauma this case has inevitably caused.

      generational trauma? that would mean that not only will their child be traumatized but their grandchildren, their great grandchildren, their great great grands and so on would be traumatized. I doubt it will continue on that far

    • @gthktty666
      @gthktty666 8 месяцев назад +2

      welcome to intergenerational trauma. that is EXACTLY how it works. studies have shown trauma has a chain effect for years. you can look at any kind of trauma, but sinead o'conners song famine actually explains it kind of well in the context of how the irish "famine" caused mass trauma. the dutch famine during WW2 even genetically changed the metabolism in pregnant dutch women and their offspring. the flow-on of trauma thru the generations is as fascinating as it is wide-reaching in its ripple effect. there is even an effect relating to minorities who have been targeted for mass slaughter because of religious or ethnic persecution. intergenerational trauma holding is the weight of remembering those who have been killed and being a survivor who has to continue the line of their people/the practice of their religion. ie people whose families tell them the horrors of persecution so it can never be forgotten. on the other hand, my grandfather would not talk about the war or the camps, and despite that history being lost - the trauma inflicted on him at the hands of the nazi's effected him, and it had an effect on my mother, which in turn affected me, and if I had kids, it would also certainly effect them even if I spent another 10 years in therapy. it's really not that hard to see how it would get to the great great grandchild if no one goes to therapy and actively works on it. that's like beating the shit out of an old house and thinking that after 5 generations and no maintenance, that it would be like new somehow. if not addressed, psychological issues compound over time, not dissipate.@@lezbnlvr2051

      Yes but this should have come in the form of guilt, not life in prison for murder. These parents had to not only bear the guilt of not being there to protect their child, but also be sent to prison and be looked at as "child murderers" but the general public. For example, if you take your kid to the beach and she is swimming with you and having a good time. You look away from her for just a moment and she is gone. Come to find out a wave crashed over her and knocked her unconscious and she drowned. Should the parents be charged with murder? Just like the police in this case concluded that the parents cut their daughter up and killed her, the police in the beach scenario could conclude you held your daughters head underwater and drowned her.

I don't understand how Debbie found someone else and left her husband that devoted his 5 years in prison on getting them free. If it wasn't for him doing that, she would still be in prison. What I question in this one is 1. WHY did the defense NOT go to the Judge when the DA and the prosecutor threaten them? I would think that kind of behavior would at the very least have been frowned upon by ANY decent judge and 2. OF COURSE she's not going to have the normal signs of a mauling at the autopsy. By that point those injuries would have been cleaned up by the medical people who had tried to save her life. What the defense should have done AS SOON as they were arrested was go straight to the HOSPITAL who tried to treat April's wounds and gotten any photos that had been taken before they ever did anything else. Right then and there they could prove that the dogs HAD in fact caused the injuries

    And the courts just lets it go… and this is why withholding evidence happens moreso than not! Some DA's only thrive off their successful prosecution rates and don't care how they get it. Wrong on so many levels!!!!!!!

    When a dog attacks a person in the presence of other dogs, one of two things might happen. 1) The other dogs will attack the aggressor dog or, 2) They will join the attack. On the other hand, one dog could do this amount of damage in less than a minute. I've seen a few unprovoked attacks between dogs. They are fast and vicious.

    April's wounds totally look like an animal attack, from the photos. Some dogs have extremely high prey drive. My dog is a cat killer, for example. No cat is safe in our backyard, and I do not have him out front, off leash. He's too fast.
    It sounds like April died during a re-election year, and the sheriff was trying to look tough on crime. There's no way he would have admitted mistaking dog bites for human-inflicted wounds.

    So I will disagree with the parents not at least being partly responsible. Letting dogs just run loose in a pack when there are also small children wandering around unattended is negligent. Dogs will do things in a pack setting that they would never do alone in the home. Im sure they saw that 4 year old girl as prey because she was out by herself without her pack of people to protect her. Also kids sometimes tease and torment dogs to the point where the dog thinks it has to defend itself because that parents (pack leaders) aren’t doing anything to stop it. I had dogs years ago, a little rat terrier and a chihuahua mix that killed a duck and a chicken (two separate occasions) because they were unattended and cornered and even two dogs together was enough to act like a pack. The rat terrier probably was the instigator because he always had a high prey drive an I think the chihuahua just went along with it. They were both super sweet with us and never bit anyone, but those instincts were there even in small dogs. People just can’t trust that their dog will never hurt their kid, be a better parent and monitor the kid to make sure it’s not tormenting the dog and don’t let your dogs run loose in a pack because they can become dangerous!
