I can only surmise that Linda, being older than her husband, and lonely despite her wealth, fell heavily for the Paul she thought she knew. I wish she had heeded her gut feeling, because she did suspect he was the cause of her illness. She probably thought she wouldn't be able to move on if they separated/divorced. Loneliness and low self esteem, allows some people to make irrational decisions. Bless her. She sounded like a lovely woman. Rest in peace🌹

I think its a revenge for your not having wanted them at the start. I wonder did this unattractive & arrogant sociopath have to lovebomb her before she gave in & fell in love with who she thought he was?

I am from India, which is still a third world country. Still no way you can get a job in a nuclear facility with fake degree certificates. Here all government servants degrees are referred back to the university for verification.
I am shocked about the casual way of checking in US
I think it’s a second world/developing country no? Good verification policy!
The US is the epitome of a 4th world country.
I work as accountant in London. In last 10 years working for corporations nobody verified my degree in private sphere... Only time when they checked my education when I worked for charity which was getting founds from government. I know accounting is not nuclear engineering but still... I think it depends on organisation.
But I heard about friend of my friend who got job in USA in laboratory. He didn't have degree for this... But obviously they realised after few days and fired him.
@@lifeofeuropean You don't know about the checks they did without telling you. They obviously checked your education at the latest when they saw your very poor written English.
48 hours did a fantastic job on this story. Interviewing her friends gave us great insight on what a wonderful person she was. I hope Paul lives into his 90s and re-lives his traitorous behavior every day. She trusted him.
It felt great watching the detective feel great at the arrest.
It was too formal, though. Nowadays, police treat suspects with kid gloves. She should have given him a verbal licking and put the cuffs on with some vigor.
Read this just as she said it and I agree
Most dangerous river to swim in..de-Nile! Dark humor to soften the reality
😂😂😂
One thing is clear: many people will do anything to believe that someone loves them. 😢
👍
A prayer I have always prayed- may I never marry my enemy
👍🏽 It’s a good prayer 😊 But one just Never knows what’s in a Person’s Heart 🖤 Only GOD can read the Heart and its Intentions.
@@renewashington791 true! Prayer worked for me. Prayed it since I was a teenager.
Thank you Marie. From all of us that have not seen justice for the death of a loved one.
If you feel you need to get someone to "watch" your spouse within the first year of marriage, and soon after your getting very sick? Surely anyone realises that they are in danger and need to seek immediate help.
Hospitals are mandatory reporters, HOW DOES THIS HAPPEN. Cops don’t just ask you if you think your husband is poisoning you. They should have investigated
33:40 I smiled so big to see this detective’s pride in her great work catching this creep
Me too! 😂
@@waypay1 oh yay! I’m so glad you felt it too. Hate the creeps, love the people who are so dedicated to catching them!
Me too
Women are emotionally vulnerable, especially older women. I wish there was a way to convince women that is is ok to be alone.
That poor woman simply wanted to be loved. Glad he didn’t get the million he wanted! Rip to this beautiful soul. Sometimes it’s easier to listen to your warnings. They usually come before destruction.
Why was she allowed to go home when suspicion was there that someone was poisoning her and an investigation was never done. Shocking
Sounds like she would've willingly go anyways.
Free will
She was an grown woman not a kid ,dhe knew he was killingvher and just accepted that
Because she is an adult.
Who else has a dear friend in denial who simply won't listen and is probably in danger 😢
Probably most of us over the course of a lifetime
This was almost my story & still no one who has the ability to do anything, even cares. Those who knew us the most sees it now but he's still free to do as he wishes & I wonder, who'll be next? He is absolutely genius material & the description of this guy sounds just like my ex. Knows everything about everything, Jepordy was one of his most favorite game shows & could literally answer almost every question. He's so charming (beguiling), so attentive, so 'caring & supportive.'
No one ever saw it in the begging & most who are still charmed & manipulated by him still refuse to believe it.
Ive heard so many stories from people how its always the ones you arent even physically attracted to , the ones who lovebomb & absolutely shower you with attention & affection anyway & whom you eventually talk yourself into dating, lowering your standards & settling for, because you start to believe they must really love you & will be reliable life partners, ... who then - once you give in & commit to them- end up taking liberties & giving you grief like no one ever before!
I think its a revenge for your not having wanted them at the start.
I wonder did this unattractive & arrogant sociopath have to lovebomb her before she gave in & fell in love with who she thought he was?
You are so on point, it's so true. And then you're beating yourself with "I should have listened to myself the first time!" when you end up in a world of sh^% for letting someone you didn't even like wear down your defenses. Though I don't understand the lady in this story. It looks like there wasn't even any passion in their relationship. Baby talk and bubble baths. Her loyalty to literal death is so puzzling.
💯+💯
Narcissists are famous for their love bombing. They don't know how to feel love but they display all the symbols of love: bubble baths, doting on you. Then they gaslight you and make you feel like you are a bad person for imagining they could do any harm.
@@MusgraveRitualSounds like what happened to me except I didn't die.
That's exactly how narcissists work. Been there.
Ibrahim and Marie are firecrackers! Great job nabbing the “genius”…
nothing impresses me like when victims change beneficiaries. greedy people deserve nothing
They should make sure the suspect knows it - make sure you reduce their motive
The detective and the prosecutor. They got the justice Linda deserved. Living her life doing everything right, l think the jury got a good impression of Linda's character. She worked hard, and was looking at a good future. Not perfect but nobody is.
Im glad that selfish little toad paid for taking her away from loved ones, friends, work colleagues, and for taking away her life and future.
I just love this Ibrahim guy ❤
Nowadays I would get a background check done on the guy before marriage
They were both on their third marriage. Red flags 🚩
@jamesl9371 - yes. I did. Major debt, minor law infractions (lots) and a string of ex-wives. I dodged a bullet.
One of my previous coworkers said I was being too picky because she's already found 4 men to marry her. She was only 30 & on her 4th marriage! That's when I realized, SHE was THE big red flag! Scary how people go thru marriages like it's nothing.
She would have denied his past too. She found out about his little secrets and it changed nothing.
Sometimes intelligent people can be so dumb.
It's true. Geniuses are known to have little common sense.
Emotional intelligence is very different from book learning.
@@annamarielewis7078
Very different.
She did a smart thing by leaving half the money to the sister
She should have left the lot to her sister 😢
@@mariebchaney
Exactly, every single penny plus her material possessions.
This the reason why parents should teach their children about, human psychology, especially with personality type. 💯💯💯💯
The prosecuting attorney has such nice eyes. I loved Yvonne's tenacity. Everyone deserves such a caring team on their side!
Rip to the victim but everyone tried to warn her and she yet still stayed this man knew self love was missing in her character and he took advantage of that
Correct me if I'm wrong, isn't that mensa same as the one where this another genius man poison his neighbor because they are noisy?
Yes
There’s always been a very fine line between genius/brilliant & crazy/psychopathic.
There's smarts, then there's life smarts
Yes!! He put Thallium in their coke.
Yep. They both had big brains and no human feelings.
People need to learn self love. She was too desperate to have a man. She knew yet decided to turn a blind eye. How sad.
Awesome prosecutor! 🎉🎉 Also, the female detective is great! 🎉🎉
She's a hero! Thank you, Yvonne!!
It's a shame you can't buy bottles of intuition for people who really need some.
The narcissist in him just had to talk to the cops years later.
She couldn’t have injected the nicotine by her hand if she was sedated. And the hi dose killed her in about 30 minutes and there was no one else in the house other than him and her. He’s guilty
Weren't those also known facts, known evidence years earlier when she died?
@@selcukcilek555 Not sure they saw those facts in the same light... but I don't think they (LE) had much knowledge of how swift nicotine acts on the nervous system. Plus, people smoked back then... who know what they thought about that?
They pointed out the nicotine injection was probably the mark in her armpit where he injected her..After the sedative kicked in.
Behind her ear@@ArdenSinn-oz3hq
@@selcukcilek555 Not the fact that the dose HAD to have killed her within 30 minutes. The examiner said he didn't remember discussing that with detectives
Chilling. I lived a creepy parallel to Linda but I was lucky enough to get out in time. RIP Linda. So sorry for what happened to you!!

31:05 He refers to the wife he killed and inherited so much money from as his "ex-wife."
And ex-marriage!
I noticed that too. 🤔
Right, and they were still married.
Older women stop settling with younger boys cos of desperation, it doesn’t end well.
so true
The word "Genius " should be used only to describe someone doing good things 😊😊
..and who's actually brilliant..
Linda seemed like such a wonderful friend with equally wonderful friends. ❤
1993, the last decade killers could kind of get away with this stuff. no security cameras, no intersection traffic cameras, no gps, no digital records of purchases at stores, etc. glad we have the tech we do today.
Same. Crime is absolutely less because of this, in my opinion. I have cameras, tracking devices, etc of everything that happens on my 1.5 acres and it’s all pinging to my neighbors cams with ring neighborhood. You can track a car driving in/out…. A person walking. I feel safer as a single woman!
Circumstances, he was the only one alone in the room! Simple deduction!!!
@@2legit2KwitSurveillance doesn't keep anybody safe and it's very helpful for control freak governments. I feel like we're moving in the direction of China.
And yet it happens more these days so all the tracking and surveillance is for what I wonder?🤔 It's not for stopping criminals I can tell you that!

Bright people don't have to declare they are members of Mensa. Intelligence has not saved the world from greed and pollution--it's enabled greed to be greedier--as in this case.

He definitely deserved to get LIFE without parole aka HIS death sentence behind cold bars where he belongs. It’s a very sad case and have to hand it to both, the OC cold detective and especially the assistant DA of the same county for his exceptional tenacity and very focused representation.
God bless Linda’s memory and her amazing true loving friends 🙏
I always knew that nicotine was incredibly toxic, but I didn't know that you could isolate it from cigarettes? Scary
Discarded cig butts are lethal to the environment, didn't know? Nicotine causes cancer.
Soak cig butts water, the nicotine leaches out. Discarded cig butts are lethal to the environment. Nicotine causes cancer
Nicotine is in a plant, and as anything natural, you can create a concentrate of it.
Hope this does not give any nutcase out there this idea!
My thoughts exactly@@mariesmith8076
It was so clear that the guy was guilty. Why did it take investigator so long to bring the case to trial?
Because they had no evidence.
@@sallygreenfield6991 they had evidence
@@sallygreenfield6991 What was the change in facts(evidence) when he was in court years later? I mean what EXTRA evidence did they have later on rather than on the time of her autopsy? Did I miss something?
@@selcukcilek555 Nope. There was no real evidence against him except life insurance policies and that he was in contact with her within the time they think she was poisoned. But he was her husband. Realistically, he probably did it, but I always think it's terrifying how little evidence can get you life in prison in the US.

My sister stuck by her cheating, druggee husband for years. They met in 1972 and she passed in 2017. Like Linda Curry, my sister would have denied there were any problems, get mad at anyone saying her husband was a bad person. We suspected he had been poisoned her.
