Nicotine poisoning brings back a crisis event from 20 years ago. I was never a smoker but foolishly decided one day to try a stick of nicotine gum that was sold over the counter in drug stores under the brand name "Nicorette". The purpose of the gum was to help people quit smoking but my thought was that it might give me a "buzz". I began chewing the small piece of the nicotine gum and within minutes, I began sweating and felt a racing heart beat. I then became nauseous and ran to the bathroom. I vomited more violently that I could ever remember. I remember thinking I will have to call 911 for an ambulance. But it was the violent vomiting that rid my system of the nicotine. Nicotine is nothing to play around with. I learned this the hard way.
That’s wild, I wonder how many milligrams it was. I was a smoker, then a vaper, and I’ve been trying nicorette to stop vaping. It does literally nothing for me lol. But i understand, because once i put 2 4mg zins in my mouth at once, and it definitely made my heart race faster and my stomach turn a bit. Doctors and nurses are far more concerned with their next swinger party than your health. People don't seem to understand what the medical industry really is.
I was diagnosed with cancer, don’t have insurance. Asked my multi-millionaire brother-in-law to help financially. Treatment, hospital, tests etc cost $15,000 none of which I could afford. He earns around $40,000/month. He gave me $2000. He wasn’t the only one who turned their back on me when I asked for help. Money has more value than human life, to many people.
@@MungoLouis I bet that is what he was trying to do! Double his earnings. Then when he realized the hospital kept saving her life, he figured he'd be better off with just the life insurance. smh! He is down right disgusting!!!
It was too formal, though. Nowadays, police treat suspects with kid gloves. She should have given him a verbal licking and put the cuffs on with some vigor.
Ladies we have been equipped with intuition for a reason!! She knew something was off which is why she invited her friend to temporarily move in and watch Paul. She ignored those feelings, red flags, suspicious circumstances around her illness and even urging from friends, medical staff and law enforcement, to her own detriment. She did not need to be a victim. That’s the saddest part about this whole story. 😢
Sadly also the friend fell for his manipulations. As soon as the friend said something positive about her husband Linda was relieved and dropped her guard again.
She didn't leave him because he was her "child", those clingy, over sweet, can't survive without you type man children. She was older = he clutched deeper, she had money = he had nothing, she was somebody = he was nobody. That's why she left him her house, so "he would be ok". What a monster this man is
100%. Hospital: "Do you smoke cigarettes or use nicotine?" Her: "No." Hospital: sees extremely high levels of nicotine in her bloodstream. 😱 Oh wait.. that didn't happen, but it should have.
Nicotine doesn’t show up in routine blood or urine tests. The lab has to be told to test for it. But the cloudy IV bag should have been thoroughly tested.
Hospitals are mandatory reporters, HOW DOES THIS HAPPEN. Cops don’t just ask you if you think your husband is poisoning you. They should have investigated
An absolutely fascinating episode! The twists and turns were mind-blowing. It's amazing how the investigation unraveled and exposed the genius behind the crime. Incredible storytelling and such a detailed look into the case. Highly recommend this one for anyone who loves a good mystery!
Lesson, if you feel something’s wrong with your relationship, trust your gut. Especially if you’re feeling it strong enough to ask your friends if they feel something’s wrong. Run!
If you feel you need to get someone to "watch" your spouse within the first year of marriage, and soon after your getting very sick? Surely anyone realises that they are in danger and need to seek immediate help.
That poor woman simply wanted to be loved. Glad he didn’t get the million he wanted! Rip to this beautiful soul. Sometimes it’s easier to listen to your warnings. They usually come before destruction.
Bright people don't have to declare they are members of Mensa. Intelligence has not saved the world from greed and pollution--it's enabled greed to be greedier--as in this case.
@funtyes1970 they didn't say someone should have been arrested without any proof or just because they think he did it. I'm sure they mean that at a minimum there should have been a thorough investigation! Putting a sign on the door was ridiculous.
He was 13 y.o younger than her, they were not having any, there were less than a year married and he was asking her for 1,000,000 life insurance and him as beneficiary, twice her IV has poisoned in the hospitals (different hospitals)............Duh! Linda!
I worked with a woman whose husband abusive. She wouldn’t show up for work, so I called a welfare check a couple of times. She asked me not to do that anymore “she knew how to handle him.” One police officer even offered to help her get a restraining order but she refused. She’s still with him, and a terrible influence on her. As long as she stays overweight, won’t get a job, and drinks with him, he’s “happy.”
I was that friend because I was young and had a sheltered upbringing, was in a vulnerable place and it took time to realize how manipulative, coercive, and controlling this person was. I escaped because a friend let me stay with her but when other friends and family gave up on me, it made it so much harder to leave. Please don’t give up on your friends who are in danger. Ab*sers look for people who are naive, trusting, and vulnerable.
I saw a man die in similar situations, reversed, under the "care" of his wife and daughter-in-law. The patient presented similar to arsenic poisoning, but no tox screening was ever done. The two women were astounded, and furious, to find that he had left no money to them. Portland, Oregon. No cause of death was ever medically determined. 3 stints in the hospital, with full recovery whenever he left his wife's cooking at home. He had no kin except The Disinterested State to look after his interests. Ladies, Gentlemen; be wise. It is not an exclusive club.
1993, the last decade killers could kind of get away with this stuff. no security cameras, no intersection traffic cameras, no gps, no digital records of purchases at stores, etc. glad we have the tech we do today.

The love of money is the root of all evil....enough said.
He obviously had it planned from the rip. Sad and demonic.
Unfortunately, there's lots like that in life.
@@musictomyears6920I’m so sorry that he did this to you. I do hope that you have received treatment.
That blonde woman was no friend
The prosecuting attorney has such nice eyes. I loved Yvonne's tenacity. Everyone deserves such a caring team on their side!
How cruel and arrogant to continue poisoning your own wife in a HOSPITAL!
How CRAZY it is, that the hospital didn't catch on either!! I mean, REALLY!!
Yeah, l bet he would have sued the hospital and made millions.
@@MungoLouis I bet that is what he was trying to do! Double his earnings. Then when he realized the hospital kept saving her life, he figured he'd be better off with just the life insurance. smh! He is down right disgusting!!!
That's some tenacity.
It's called Narcissism.
It felt great watching the detective feel great at the arrest.
It was too formal, though. Nowadays, police treat suspects with kid gloves. She should have given him a verbal licking and put the cuffs on with some vigor.
Read this just as she said it and I agree
Ladies we have been equipped with intuition for a reason!! She knew something was off which is why she invited her friend to temporarily move in and watch Paul. She ignored those feelings, red flags, suspicious circumstances around her illness and even urging from friends, medical staff and law enforcement, to her own detriment. She did not need to be a victim. That’s the saddest part about this whole story. 😢
Women's intuition is quite real. Pay attention. Give it your full attention.
Sadly also the friend fell for his manipulations. As soon as the friend said something positive about her husband Linda was relieved and dropped her guard again.
So intuition is a genetic trait of females? I dont think so
@@valvodkaAll women have it BUT not all women know how to tap into it. Its almost like common sense.
@@valvodka all people have intuition but I singled out the women since this story was about a woman who ignored hers. What’s your issue?
This the reason why parents should teach their children about, human psychology, especially with personality type. 💯💯💯💯
Disorders actually. And you’re absolutely right! Why don’t parents teach their kids what a sociopath/ psychopath/ cluster b is and the red flags?
Women are emotionally vulnerable, especially older women. I wish there was a way to convince women that is is ok to be alone.
Why was she allowed to go home when suspicion was there that someone was poisoning her and an investigation was never done. Shocking
Sounds like she would've willingly go anyways.
Free will
She was an grown woman not a kid ,dhe knew he was killingvher and just accepted that
Because she is an adult.
One thing is clear: many people will do anything to believe that someone loves them. 😢

Linda seemed like such a wonderful friend with equally wonderful friends. ❤
She didn't leave him because he was her "child", those clingy, over sweet, can't survive without you type man children. She was older = he clutched deeper, she had money = he had nothing, she was somebody = he was nobody. That's why she left him her house, so "he would be ok". What a monster this man is
What widower would refer to his dead wife as his EX wife? 🙄
Omg that part! And then he tried to backpedal real quick and say "i mean, she died" hmmm.. too odd imo
And say "I guess we're here about a woman named linda?" Tf? U mean your wife that died.. wtf
Right smh
A habit. He'd already married and divorced twice before Linda.
That part killed me @@2025s_truth-speaker

What a sweet best friend. I can only hope when I pass my friends speak about me as Mary did about Linda.
_'pass'_ where?

If only she knew that love isn't the guy who is all compliments, love is the guy that wants you to stop spending beyond your means. 🤫
Awesome prosecutor! 🎉🎉 Also, the female detective is great! 🎉🎉
Why didn't the hospital know what was in her system before she died in 2 hospitals no less? Negligence in my opinion.
100%. Hospital: "Do you smoke cigarettes or use nicotine?"
Her: "No."
Hospital: sees extremely high levels of nicotine in her bloodstream. 😱
Oh wait.. that didn't happen, but it should have.
The hospital should have been sued !
Nicotine doesn’t show up in routine blood or urine tests. The lab has to be told to test for it. But the cloudy IV bag should have been thoroughly tested.
The first time she was a victim; the second time she was a volunteer. 🤦♀️
Unfortunately yes 🤦🏽♀️
Sad, but true 😢
Yep
Yes, as sad as her death was, it was a case of "Fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me."
She was married three times too
Hospitals are mandatory reporters, HOW DOES THIS HAPPEN.

Insane that someone can poison somebody for years with everyone knowing it, including the authorities. Unbelievable

Ok I don’t know what kind of trauma Linda endured in childhood but this is insane! Everybody knew he was poisoning her and she REFUSED to accept it!😡
She's a hero! Thank you, Yvonne!!
nothing impresses me like when victims change beneficiaries. greedy people deserve nothing
They should make sure the suspect knows it - make sure you reduce their motive
That poor woman simply wanted to be loved. Glad he didn’t get the million he wanted! Rip to this beautiful soul. Sometimes it’s easier to listen to your warnings. They usually come before destruction.
Truly genius people rarely brag about their intelligence.
Bright people don't have to declare they are members of Mensa. Intelligence has not saved the world from greed and pollution--it's enabled greed to be greedier--as in this case.
So true.. they will be like I am a teacher. ( teacher who have 2..3 PhD.)
Sad! She was so naive. Had so many chances to leave.
The hospitals almost seam culpable. Hospital 1 sends the IV bag for testing, but no arrest. Hospital 2 puts a friggin sign on the door?? Really?
As a nurse this is bizarre!
how you going to arrest someone if they don't have any proof, he did it. you can't arrest someone cuz think he is guilty lol
@funtyes1970 they didn't say someone should have been arrested without any proof or just because they think he did it. I'm sure they mean that at a minimum there should have been a thorough investigation! Putting a sign on the door was ridiculous.
Most people at hospitals don't have good common sense.

Emotional intelligence is very different from book learning.
@@annamarielewis7078
Very different.
People need to learn self love. She was too desperate to have a man. She knew yet decided to turn a blind eye. How sad.
The blonde lady was smiling was loving her fifteen minutes. 😮
The narcissist in him just had to talk to the cops years later.

Who else has a dear friend in denial who simply won't listen and is probably in danger 😢
Probably most of us over the course of a lifetime
LINDAAAA LISTENNNNNNNNN.. if you have to question if that man loves you, he doesn't.
Linda looked like an older Nichole Brown Simpson
1993, the last decade killers could kind of get away with this stuff. no security cameras, no intersection traffic cameras, no gps, no digital records of purchases at stores, etc. glad we have the tech we do today.
Same. Crime is absolutely less because of this, in my opinion. I have cameras, tracking devices, etc of everything that happens on my 1.5 acres and it’s all pinging to my neighbors cams with ring neighborhood. You can track a car driving in/out…. A person walking. I feel safer as a single woman!
Circumstances, he was the only one alone in the room! Simple deduction!!!

Loved the passion of that prosecutor - a job well done, sir!
He got the idea from Agatha Christie's books. In one of her stories, nicotine is used by the murderer.
I thought exactly the same. Agatha was very clever and she worked in a pharmacy in her young years.
