I had my engine rebuilt after spun bearings and went with the PCM of NC Oil Pickup Tube Kit installed I was AWD. You should make a future video on what ever you choose relocate kit or C6 oil pan. Great channel.
I have a Silver '08 TBSS 2WD (owned it since Sept. '09). They all have that axle hole thru the oil pan. Oh, and mine has only 73k miles and it's got the rear main leak too. Other than that it's been the perfect vehicle for me. I have a larger garage now than when I first bought it, but my old house had a tiny 2-car garage and the TBSS was perfect for it.
Yea my 03 4.2 has the axel slot in the pan as well Definitely started watching these videos for the lighting upgrade you did on this thing but overall great series just watched all the trailblazer videos and even subscribed Your videos are thorough, well explained, and very detailed i heavily appreciated that. Heres to hoping your channel does well im Definitely gonna stay subscribed man 👍
Good Tuesday afternoon TW. I'm just watching your video on my lunch break.. we had a death in the family this past Sunday morning. My wife's older brother passed away.. so we have been busy with funeral arrangements and where the burial is going to be... Great tutorial as always my friend 👍🇺🇲...
@@TWAMotorsports thanks TW. The wake is today at 2 till 4. Then 6 till 8 tonight. I'm going after work. Then funeral tomorrow afternoon.. if I don't message you have a safe weekend my friend....🇺🇲
have an 06 SS AWD and did lose an engine, went to the rear oil pickup kit and run 7 quarts just for peace of mind and the AWD has a big transfer case, like to put on a remote oil filter to get a bigger filter on it, any Ideas
Is it possible that it was converted to 2wd at some point? All you need to do is add an extra quart of oil. I did that with my awd and never had an issue.
What up Trav. It was good to see that FRC move lol. Man my brothers base trailblazer has the hole through the front too. Same application for all the models I guess 🤷♂️ Good content man!
Thought my 2000 Silverado had a rear main leak, oil always ended up in the same place at the bottom of the bell housing. I Was going to do the oil pan gasket anyways. Pulled the inspection cover on the trans looked dry. Pulled the pan,. Back of the block and flexplate was dry. Knew right away it was valley pan or oil sending unit. Sure enough, Valley Plate Gasket so did that as well, lol
Do any of your late model GM's use oil? I have a 2005 Tahoe (215k miles) and a 2009 Suburban (189k mile) both of them use about 2 quarts every 3k miles. Just curious.
The transmission is likely to go first if you really hammer on it, rather then the pickup tube being an issue. If you drive normally it will last quite a bit. I went over 150,000 miles with the same transmission.
If you're just dripping a little oi, I'd try MaxLife or some other high mileage oil, although it might not help with the rear main because at some point GM switched to teflon. Yeah, GM used the same oil pans on all models, given that the 4.2L was only used on this platform and I'd guess most of them were sold optioned with so designing a second oil pan probably didn't make sense, and they sold even less V8 models and probably even less with 2WD so I guess designing multiple pans for an engine upgrade and drivetrain option few people were going to buy didn't make much sense.
Good work, but becareful on them k&n oil filters, because it's high flow and pressure and it will make your rear seals leak, or any were around the motor, best to use wix xp oil filter with mobil I high mileage advance full synthetic oil, reg oil to thin..and will leak...
Mobil 1 oil is garbage. LS engines run cleaner and better with diesel oil it’s a higher detergent oil. Schaefer’s oil is also one of the best tested oils out there! Just providing a good tip.
Always love these tbss uploads! I run 7 quarts in mine and seems to do fine but I don’t beat on it either.
Thank you Eric. Probably be fine then
Better than 6 and chance of starvation 👍
True

That seems to be the way to go
I'm quickly becoming a fan of this channel. I'm a dodge guy through and through but we just bought a 14 z71 tahoe so you are my GM guy now lol.
Thank you very much
Great video the TBSS is my dream car been wanting one since I heard about them
They are fun but wanted a bigger ride
@@TWAMotorsports they are hard to find somewhat cheap
Thats true

Yeah I guess it was cheaper to make one pan
Did you find your towel 🤔
Lol. Yeah
Great video can’t wait to see more on that 52
I will do that hopefully soon

@@TWAMotorsports I was told they have the front shafts going thru to lower the center of gravity. Also makes lift kits difficult on the platform.
Could be

You too. My thoughts and prayers go out to your family
I got the lmproved Racing oil pan baffle for that problem for my GTO LS2.
Probably the best idea

Sounds like a common issue
Hi! What if your driveway is on a down slant towards your house ? Do I back it in or go forward? Unless it has to be 100% level. Thanks!
I would go forward to help the oil drain
Is it possible that it was converted to 2wd at some point? All you need to do is add an extra quart of oil. I did that with my awd and never had an issue.
Thank you. No it's an original 2wd
What up Trav. It was good to see that FRC move lol.

Must be same on all. Yeah it was nice to drive the frc 100 ft. Lol
What body kit is that? I have a Trailblazer just can’t find the name of the kit :/. Thanks!
It is a Trailblazer SS
I was thinking about buying one to have a fun daily, but not sure now that I know they put the sump in the front
Yeah it was always in the back of my mind
My TBSS is also a 2WD and has the hole for the front driveshafts
I guess they used that on all models

Yeah that crap goes everywhere lol
Are you saying it’s ok to put 7 quarts in it?
It is ok. Many do it

No I have had a few in the past that use half a quart between changes.
Do you still have the tbss??
No I sold it
Bummer👋
I know.
How muxh did u sell it with
Don't remember. I think 14k

It is on original transmission
Any reason your not using Mobil 1 high mileage I’ve been using that on my Suburban 01 it has 290K on it
Not really. I have used both
I would just go tube relocate bc it just seems like better fitment and a little bit more oem
That's a way to look at it.
WOW, I have an 02 standard Trailblazer and I don't have the beauty cover and my oil tube and dipstick are a whole lot easier to get to
I imagine they are
ever thought about doing a 07-14 sierra/silverado like a SLT or a LTZ that would be sick to see
I think I have in the past lol
So they have a tbss page saying you should run 6.5 because 7 was causing misfires
Never heard that
and it is a rear wheel drive as well
I own a 2007 ss trailblazer mine has that same hole set up for the 4x4
I guess they just made one. My dad's ssr had the same pan.

Man my dream truck 😞 it’s so beautiful. How much would you sell it for?
Already gone

2008 Trailbazer LT 4d
👍
TBSS awd and 2wd oil pan is the same.
Thank you. I figured
Always run 6.5 - 7 quarts of oil to keep your motor happy
sounds good. Will do
It’s the same pan for the rwd and awd definitely go c6 oil pan
Thank you
How many quarts you add with the c6 oil pan?
Probably around the same
Hey if you drive like my grandpa you don't need to change the pan!!! Or you have on the market racing oil pan for that purpose.
That's true. I drive like a grandpa because of the fear of starvation
For sale
Lol. Maybe it was
Owner's manual calls for 7 quarts
👍
The spray was over the c5 trunk 😂😂😂
No it was outside

I have ran for years and never had an issue.
STRAP OIL FILTER WRECH !!
Have that too
