Bucket list ticked off just before Halloween! I played Phantom of the Opera on a HAUNTED PIANO at Her Majesty's Theatre where Andrew Lloyd Webber's @The Phantom of the Opera has played for over 36 years! This was during the interval, and there is a piano at the Dress Circle bar, so what else can an aspiring pianist and composer do but to have a little play? I did not expect the Phantom to get annoyed and interrupt me, but maybe he wanted a piano battle! Was a little worried about all the smoke, but not the Phantom or the smoke can stop me! I have heard the musical before and seen bits of it on TV and RUclips, but this was the first time I have ever seen it, and it was amazing. Christine was played by Holly-Anne Hull, and she was brilliant. The Phantom was James Gant, and in my head they were singing the parts as I was playing it. It certainly helps having watched them live and feeling the raw emotion in their performances.
Awesome piano cover esp with many key transpositions which make it sound grander! You sure built up an audience! Is this a Yamaha Disklavier which had programmed a few bars of the same piece? Did u flip the play button or was did someone else do it, timed with a smoke machine? Makes a great spooky performance! LOL 👏👏👏👏👍🤣😵😱
Cole that was wonderful. You must have an incredible store of music in that brain of yours. You seem to be able to pull out just about anything and play it.
What a fun and lovely experience you had there, Cole! Did you notice? The Phantom was watching you throughout your performance. Look at his face in front of the piano, he's staring at you and thought "I'd challenge this kid to a piano battle!" 😱 And he tried to scare you Cole! LOL! 😂 But you beat the Phantom! Best ever fiery piano rendition of Phantom of the Opera! Just brilliant and Amazing! Woo! 👏👏👏 Enjoyed watching Lodi Cole! 😊 Thanks for sharing this fun "journey / milestone" with your fans!
I knew that you wouldn't miss this opportunity. (I've seen Phantom 3X) What fun!! Ghostly piano effects. How wonderful. It made a very special memory for you as your first live performance of Phantom. Love it, love it. 💖💖💖
Hi Ray, Cole has played "Phantom of the Opera" live at least 3 times before this one. The first I recall was 4 years ago when he was 11, that was at the public piano they had then at Tottenham Court Road Underground station. 2 years ago he played it on the brown piano at St. Pancras . The latest was on the black piano at St Pancras. I was there with him on that day as well as two other patrons, George and Gavin. They are all still on Cole's RUclips channel. However, this performance, actually at the theatre, I think has been the best.
@@bobtoastmaster5442 Sorry, Bob, that my comment was ambiguous. I was actually refering to Cole seeing a live performance of the show for the first time. Yes, I've heard him play it 2 pr 3 times. He seemed tro raise his perfomance for the occasion. Best wishes.😄
WOW Cole, That crowd of theatregoers were certainly in for a surprise performance for which they hadn't paid. I don't suppose that even they thought that the very talent Cole Lam could set fire to the piano. I bet that was a bit off putting, when the piano started playing itself. This was tremendous. Like Ray, I have seen Phantom three times, each time has been in London. I too love the music and you will recall that you learned and played "All I Ask of You" from this classic musical for me and made a special video of it at home. Well done, it certainly drew the crowds, I should have been there with some flyers, to get your subscriber and patron numbers up.
Hi Cole, I only discovered your channel last week, but since then I've been working my way through all your videos. I used to play the violin and watching how amazing you are I am now seriously thinking about taking it up again so thank you! Your talent is next level and simply magical to watch! 😊👍
Omg totally beautiful and nailed it so perfectly I absolutely love the Phantom of the Opera my favorite play and book ever thank you for playing the song amazing ❤😊❤😊
Majestic video and performance! I planned to watch some funny videos tonight but I checked what's going on here on your channel and I am watching for fourth time in a row now. I am smiling and also I feel so great after hearing this melody in such a wonderful performance.
This was "Astonishing, so fascinating to watch! I loved every second. Hilarious when the piano started playing on its own. A difficult piece to play, but you made it seem effortless. You're a blessing and a talented young man, Cole. XO
That's is exactly how Marina Prior was singing it too that tempo and tune in Melbourne and Sydney many years ago in Australia. My Dad who went with my Mother, hated Opera and thought that was a fabulous production and on top of that they were dining whilst watching it.
Again, you showed that you know how to draw adoring attention anywhere that you perform. Just imagine opening this great musical with a performance like this backed by the theater organ, maybe played and recorded by YOU! You provided great theater and some drama. Your hair styling department deserves a raise or a hug for hair that covers your eyes during the most dramatic parts. On to the next on your list.
Wow Cole, such a brilliant performance. My 6 year old daughter was watching with me and she actually told me to give you a 👍 which I always do and told me to comment that you are very good and fantastic 👏 🥰
Cole, brilliant performance! I imagine seeing the theatrical performance live did probably add some inspiration to your playing even though you are always so very self-motivated. I must ask, because I've always known you have some thespian in you, was the haunted piano and smoke really a surprise, or were you acting, either way it was delightful to watch. btw, I'm sure you know "The Killer", Jerry Lee Lewis passed away this week. While I knew he was ailing and quite elderly (87) it was still very sad to hear. Might you consider playing a tribute (no matter how small or big) to the killer? You know I, for one, would sure enjoy it. Well thanks for this fantastic Phantom performance and as always, Love ya buddy, stay safe and healthy.❤❤❤👑of🎹👏👏👏
That was totally awesome until the piano took over .....but smoke and all you recovered possession of it and continued on smoke and all....too funny but one of my very favorite musicals from Andrew Lloyd Webber....thank you Colec🎼🎶🎹🤗😘❤🇨🇦
Really enjoy watching you playing. Are you studying at Royal College Music or Royal Academy Music? Where did you get this amazing talent from? Does any member of your family play any instruments? Keep playing and most important enjoy what you’re doing, and the future is what you make of it. I can see you travelling around the world playing to full concert halls. New sub as well ,World Class Playing!
I saw phatom in Adelaide and Anthony Warlow was the phatom but he had an accident back stage hit his head and had to be rushed to hospital so his understudy had to take over it was a brilliant show
Don Giovanni Hotel in Prague has TWO pianos in lobby, both baby grands. Just saying ...... Ears enjoying(?) the, errrr, music emerging from one of them now 😂.
🌹Your music video playing the piano on RUclips keep it up you are amazing player so handsome and can you please play boy meet girl waiting for the star to fall please claire from worksop x🌹
Your comment is contradictory; how could Cole be technically great without possessing the ability to convey the qualities you mention? Perhaps you can demonstrate how you think it should have been played..
Yeah very well said, Mr. Michael. @elphbwckd It's like saying "oh I love this rocky road ice cream BUT it's bland and I don't like the chocolate, marshmallows and nuts on it... not good" 🥴
Well to me his playing is expressive and full of emotion. Judging by the comments I think quite a few people would agree with me. Go spread your hate somewhere else.

Great playing! And fun when the piano started playing by itself. 😂🎉
What a great piece and so appropriate for Halloween weekend! Wonderful as always! 👍👍🔥🔥👏👏
The smoke really adds such an intense effect with the music! So happy that all circumstances lined up perfectly for you to play at that moment!!
Could really feel the emotion of the melody there 😮 Bravo🎉👏🏾

Such fun!!! You play beautifully!! I could listen to you play all day.
That was smoking! Amazing. I've seen Phantom of the opera twice in London. greetings from Denmark.
Just awesome playing. Piano battle with the haunted piano. Nice smoke. Wonder if it kicks in based on elapsed time or someone playing. Lots of fun.
Think it is random
Probably one of my favorite songs, great job Cole!

Don't worry Cole, we always see smoke coming from the pianos you play! You probably don't notice it because you're too busy playing?
