HellianTV I've legitimately had moments where I've imagined if some of history greatest composers heard this sort of guitar work. Honestly think they'd love it. Just reading how Beethoven seemed posessed with energy composing (including others) has me convinced that if him and others were alive today they'd be metal heads.
Its amazing to me how, even with as intricate and technical their guitar playing and writing is in this song, the fact remains that Alex still manages to overshadow them by so much with his drum play! This band is now just an embarrassment of riches in terms of overall talent, with every single member among the very best there is at their respective positions in the band. I mean, like or dislike Trivium all you want, there is still no doubt that this remains among the very most talented group of metal musicians out there, and its been that way for a long time (though Alex's abilities really shoot that musicianship through the stratosphere).
There has been some epic metal guitar duos over the years Glen Tipton and kk downing, James Hetfield and Kirk Hammet, Adrian Smith and Dave Murray but Matt Heafy and Corey Beaulieu are among those elite company they are a modern day powerhouse
I thought these guys were an amazing duo 10 years ago when they were still practically kids. I am blown away by how much they've improved in not only songwriting and performing but more importantly playing off each other. I cannot think of many better pairs of guitarists in the genre now that are a couple decades if not more through their careers. This album is going to absolutely destroy!!
Ever since this song came out I'm constantly listening the solo part, it truly is masterpiece 3:28 . This album is enormous improvement in comparison with silence in the snow.
Thanks GW! That was pretty cool. I have been rewatching through some of their early tutorials/playthroughs back when Ascendancy was released. It's nice to see them doing this sort of thing again because they've been absent from it a while, and wondered the other day whether they would do another one anytime soon for the new album. Cool stuff!
matt is amazing he didnt even need to tune. as a guitarist i understand but its the effort and the perfection that he wanted thats even more amazing look back knowing that your awsome bro
This was very entertaining to watch, and I love the new album! I cant wait to see you guys the 29th.... BTW I was one of the whiners about the last time you guys were at Glenn Helen... thanks for the great music thru the years even though Ive been a cry baby about some of the stuff haha
Really wish they would have played with just the bass and drum tracks. It was kind of distracting with the guitars from the track. Really killer stuff and the album isn't half bad. Can't wait to see them in LA.
They've used them since The Crusade. Standard tuning (B) on that album and Shogun, and returned using them in Bb Standard since Silence in the Snow. (They use Drop Ab on "Dead and Gone", though)
2:05 tuning the guitar while playing like a boss
Honestly one of the best guitar duos in modern metal. Both amazing guitarist and musicians.
"Let me just quickly tune my guitar in this 4 bar break" Hahaha! Also solid downpicking.
That down pick technique looks better than mine.
I have to use my elbow for aggressive down picks.
listen to like light to the flies if you havent
Dao Yang It's all about the wrist. Same with Drumming.
Are you sure Corey isn't Mick Thomson lost son?
I love their neo-classical side.

Meğer o da Triviumcuymuş :D Selam dostum. Harita hikayelerine devam güzel seri (Y)
matt said on the last album he was learning classical guitar to improve his playing and holy hell did it work.
Whata?
Loved Matt tuning while playing. Bet anyone else would have stopped the recording and started over ha
Axl Rose would have cancelled the tour.
Wish I could play metal for a living.
Fuck yes
Sial
TheLast Dragon Work at it dude practice everyday and find other people to play with.
These guys make me want to play my guitar and throw it away at the same time.
Pitdog360
If you can get over feeling envy and the grind you can be as good or better than these guys
These guys still got, best thing they've put out in years!
Its amazing to me how, even with as intricate and technical their guitar playing and writing is in this song, the fact remains that Alex still manages to overshadow them by so much with his drum play! Synyster Gates and Zacky Vengeance
matt heafy just created a new tuning called drop half step aft every bar

I never noticed how technical Corey's Pre-chorus parts are! Sheeeeez
One of the best guitar duos in metal \m/
if you like guitar duos in metal, there's no way around Mark and Will from Lamb of God
What about Zacky and Syn? (a7x)
RazeD syn is great but the other guy.... meh
Or Adrian and Davey?
Bill and Brent from Mastodon, can't forget those dudes
Matts face and posture at 6:08 says "Iam a fucking god". Lol
Wasn't expecting them to go Vivaldi in the middle there
Fuck. Yes. All that hidden neo-classical and black metal rhythm is fun to see here. Didn't catch some of it on the audio.
Trevor Smith
Really? The breakdown is straight black metal. Haha
theres a shitload of hidden and nuanced inspiration thrown in here. its like they used every genre except metalcore to make an epic metalcore song.
Guys, when you're mixing the old school syle riffs with some modern shit... something amazing comes out!
5:47 Now I can understand the sound of alternating picking.
those riffs decapitate
The Jebdude haha surprise seeing you here
that snapback is hanging on for dear life!!!!
Matt's trem picking riff at the end was sick
They work so well together. Can tell they’ve been around together for a long time.
Ever since this song came out I'm constantly listening the solo part, it truly is masterpiece 3:28 . This album is enormous improvement in comparison with silence in the snow.
This album is going to be amazing.
Have never really listened to this band but this is a great song and the guitar playing is great. I’ll start listening more to your stuff
God bless Heafy’s vibrato, ouch.
Just one of their fingers has more talent than me playing with both hands
I need to learn this song!
You guys have got me excited again with this album. Can't wait to hear the rest of it!
Great stuff as always from Trivium, can't wait to pick up the new album! \m/

Just bought this album. It is awesome. 5/5 stars.
Didn't know Steven Seagul transitioned into metal! I hope he makes his sensei proud...
Heavy as tractor!
These guys are so incredibly talented, watching them is memorizing.
It is just a joy to watch these guys play! Love you guys!
Love how they seamlessly switch between eachothers solo and rhythm sections
I fcking love how Corey is playing 1:1 his solo to the backing track.
Masters....I love how they interact each other...!
I WANNA SEE ONE OF BETRAYER
That Jackson is SOOOOO rad!!! \m/
the riff from the chorus is devastating and also the one from the pre chorus
Thanks GW! That was pretty cool. I have been rewatching through some of their early tutorials/playthroughs back when Ascendancy was released. WHAT? Guitarworld video with decent tones, blasphemy
Wow these guys play it just like Trivium do!
So brutal. Best track in a long time!

This was very entertaining to watch, and I love the new album! I cant wait to see you guys the 29th.... BTW I was one of the whiners about the last time you guys were at Glenn Helen... thanks for the great music thru the years even though Ive been a cry baby about some of the stuff haha

That solo had elements of neo-classic playing going on
Cant wait to hear the whole album!
Such a cool vid, there needs to be more of this
Surprises come...up till the end of the track!
Great song!
These guys went so high on my consideration with their new album!
One of your best videos since Plini with Mike Dawes
2:06 i dont finish to like Trivium, but that tuning on the go was amazing
there clothing indicates what they went through to bring you this video. show some love wont you?
You mean Obituary and Der Weg einer Freiheit? The definetely are great. Finisterre is an amazing record imo
Welp. I've been playing it wrong
Sounds fucking amazing, but they look like just hanging out - that's how you can tell true skill!
Hell yeah, you bet your ass I'll be seeing them on this tour.
Really wish they would have played with just the bass and drum tracks. It was kind of distracting with the guitars from the track. Really killer stuff and the album isn't half bad. Can't wait to see them in LA.
GOLD STAR 🌟
Finallllyyy. Trivium is good once again.
New Trivium, love it. 🤘🏻
Love it guys :D now to learn it
Love the strategic tuning Matt did
They also recorded playthrough and some lessons for Betrayer... I've seen it in their Instagram story. Hope they'll upload it soon
So fucking good. Too hyped for this record
Wicked Tulsa can NOT WAIT!
Corey's playing is so fucking clean
Loved Matt's "Der Weg Einer Freiheit" t-shirt.
Very nice passages man.

Daaaaamn !
I fucking love the black metal riffs at the end !
More songs please !!!!!!!
Best modern metal.
I want that lp

SICK!
They use 7 strings guitar now?
The Crusade and Shogun used 7 string guitars too
They have been using them since last decade but not exclusively
They’ve been using 6 and 7 strings since Shogun, where you been? haha
They've used them since The Crusade. Standard tuning (B) on that album and Shogun, and returned using them in Bb Standard since Silence in the Snow. (They use Drop Ab on "Dead and Gone", though)
Awesome
Great Solo , go trivium to the mountain hell :D lml
