I like how she watched them sing while doing all the obstacle courses and then asks "why are they sweating?" 😅
To be fair, it’s a weird editing choice ‘cause you’d think that singing part would be before they did all the activities and it was just put in between the montage for effect, but then they’re getting progressively more tired so... are they singing, going out to do something, and then coming back to the exact same spot each time to do more singing? (I am overthinking things 😂)
don’t forget they were also outside in sunlight (and probably stupidly humid weather). I start sweating literally just being outside

The 10 second cover Anna Kendrick does of Human during the riff off in the third movie is definitely her best vocals in the entire series. Would spend money on a full cover.

My dad loves this movie, solely based on the fact that they have the German group sing with accents. He just found that so hilarious.
Especially because most of those actors don't actually have strong speaking accents... They had to exaggerate them so much.

Personally, as a German, they make me cringe sooo hard to the point where I can't watch any of their scenes. 😂 Because your accent doesn't usually carry over THAT strongly into singing.
The most memorable part about this movie was the bootcamp scene, it's so funny! And yeah, I'd like to see you watch Pitch Perfect 3. You'll definitely enjoy it more than this one.
The third one is the worst one, it just makes no sense, they took it too far

For me, the most memorable part of this one was Anna Kendrick being hopelessly gay for the German girl
"Pitch Perfect did Canada dirty" but they gave them Pentatonix as their representatives lol. The multi-group Any Way You Want It is probably my second favorite Pitch Perfect performance because they got a bunch of real a capella groups including Pentatonix and The Filharmonic.
The Bellas' final performance in this movie always makes me cry when all the former Bellas come on stage to sing Flashlight.

The empty coffee cup is actually a logistical thing. The worst thing that can happen to a propmaster and wardrobe is someone spilling coffee (or even water!) on the set. It wastes time on a time-limited set location for cleanup, prop replacement, drying things out, may screw up continuity if they have to re-dress the set, etc.
I've heard some productions prefer to weight the cups with sand or marbles for less mess. But yeah, that's why there's an endemic of empty coffee cups on TV/movies. XD
The moment the former Bellas appear on stage never fails to make me emotional 😂it's the sisterhood, the friendship, the loyalty idk but it always gets me

Now, I will say pitch perfect 3 has probably the best ending performance of the franchise and it definitely has some better songs and riff offs but the plot is messy AF but I think it's worth it if you want to react to it. In my opinion the songs are better in the 3rd movie than the 2nd by far!

I legit started to panic when you didn't recognize Pentatonix at first. I let out an audible sigh of relief when you realized who they were. P.S. I think they dressed them up as Canadians because there was only one team per country, and the Barden Bellas were Team USA.

@13:05 that’s the whole point!! After winning the acapella championships they did, they got arrogant and flashy. They became the new Treblemakers more show than substance. It’s what the whole boot camp scene was there for. It’s actually a really good set up for them in the 3rd movie which you should react to as well.
Yeah, and das sound machine were even flashier and the bellas thought they had to be like them to win but after the boot camp they realise simple can be beautiful if employed correctly, hence the cups song performed so basically and the ending being just a goosebumps worthy chant.
The flashlight performance at the end always gets me to tears, i'm crying rn 😭 and YES watch pitch perfect 3!
I do agree the movie is slow, but I think the final performance is my favorite out of all 3. It’s just so sweet and beautiful. Also the woman who plays the female announcer is the woman who wrote the book.
Elizabeth Banks didn't write the book Pitch Perfect is based on, Mickey Rapkin did after following college acapella groups. She did produce it though.
I definitely think you should watch PP3. I definitely think it's good fun. PP2 was lame cause they focused the humor too much around the stereotype jokes, where PP3 kinds goes off the walls and is silly fun, ridiculous, but fun. Also has some of my favorite tracks of the series. I love watching your videos and always watch them as soon as they pop up in my feed. Keep up the great work. Also the Last 5 years made me sad cause I love Anna Kendrick and it's a sad story so I got too emotional lol

Pitch Perfect 3 is such a guilty pleasure for me, lowkey love it, at times I even like it more than the original. The character arcs makes more sense in the third film compared to what they did to some of the characters here. Also the song covers are great
the pitch perfect cast also collaborated with unicef during covid and sang love on top by Beyonce. I would highly recommend reacting to it; you get to hear a lot of the voices you don't normally hear as much and it's my absolute favorite.

I think Hannah should totally also watch the locked out of heaven bonus clip from the treblemakers if she reacts to pitch perfect 3, considering she didnt really like their lollypop performance that much (which I agree with tbh), I personally find that bonus clip to do them justice and make up for what they did to our boys in the movie.
The final performance of this movie always makes me cry, the way the old Bella’s come in and then fade out slowly leaving only the newest Bella left.. is so good. Idc what people have to say about this movie, it’s so good

if you want more Anna Kendrick, The Last Five Years is great! It'd be cool to see you react to the movie version of Into the Woods as well -- it's definitely not perfect, but Agony was hilarious and Anna actually took On the Steps of the Palace up a key, and it's insane!
I’ve loved Anna since Camp (ladies who lunch is so beyond perfect) and I was shocked at how good “on the Steps of the Palace” was.

They got so many groups/people from "The Sing Off" to appear on the show.
Pentatonix like you noticed, the lead singer for the group after ("oooooh he is so good") is Michael from the Dartmouth Aires who appeared on the Sing Off, there was another clip from that World Championship medley of a Filipino guy group thats the Filharmonic. And then Jessica from the Bellas is Kelley from the Backbeats and the SoCals from the SingOff.
Highly recommend you check out some of those SingOff performances. Pentatonix's medley form that show is actually crazy if you havent seen it before.
Katy Segal, who was Hailee Steinfeld's Mom in the beginning, was in the chorus of former Bellas, as well as Robin Roberts, from Good Morning America.
if you thought the Treblemakers’ performance of Lollipop was a little lackluster, there’s a deleted scene where they sung Locked Out Of Heaven by Bruno Mars! it’s on RUclips & is incredible!!
This movie introduced me to Hailee Steinfeld and I couldn’t be more happier for that. Not to mention her on screen mom was Gemma friggin Teller (and Peggy Bundy), iconic.
If you have time I would 10/10 recommend the show Galavant for your next react. It's hilarious and I think you would enjoy both the music and plot.

hannah, seeing as you love skylar astins voice, HIGHLY RECOMMENDED reacting to Zoeys Extraordinary Playlist where skylars among the likes of the BRILLIANT alex newell, jane levy, mary steenburgen, peter gallagher, and many other fantastic performers. nbc gave it 2 seasons before cancelling it but the roku channel gave it an xmas movie. it’s got amazing music as well as such profound messages about grief

The first DSM performance will always be my favorite of the trilogy

DSM is the best thing about the trilogy.
I'd love to see you react to Zoey's Extraordinary Playlist. Stars Jane Levy, Skylar Astin (who of course is in the pitch perfect movies and you praised his voice), Alex Newell (who you have reviewed before), and a whole bunch of other great vocalists (Bernadette Peters appears in a handful of episodes and kills it) and even some surprising people who you wouldn't expect in a musical series, Mary Steenburgen, Lauren Graham (ever wanted to hear Loreli from Gillmore Girls belt out I can't get no satisfaction and Katy Perry's Roar, well you can in this show, episode 3). Every episode has between 5 and 9 musical performances in it, sometimes with some rather impressive choreography.
If you want to do particular songs I'd suggest Help, Lean on Me, True Colors, and especially Fight Song from Episode 9 (Zoey's Extraordinary Silence).
If you want to go for a whole episode, go for the pilot, it has a whopping 12 songs in it (though some are short stingers), it sets up the premise pretty well and after that you can listen to any other performance and understand enough of the context.
Fight Song is honestly one of my favorite songs of the series. I would love to see her reaction to American Pie... but that requires watching the rest of the series to make it work.

Ohhhh my goodness, yes. A "This is Me" retrospective. And add the Oscars performance! Like a previews-film-live performance thing. Keala Settle is impossibly incredible, and the Oscars performance was made even more remarkable by the fact that she had just had a small stroke 8 days prior!!!

And it's not actually that hard of a fix! If you put a beanbag into the cup, or pour some quick-set cement on the bottom, it will add weight to the cup and give a more realistic sound when it gets set down (as well as sit better in the actor's hands). Liquids aren't encouraged on set unless it's part of the scene, as continuity and messes are a bitch to deal with.

also we sang the finale performance in my SATB acapella group in middle school. the only thing the basses sang (I was a bass) was det det det. basically the whole song. I would've much preferred the first pitch perfect finale cus it has more songs in it

I know this was posted ages ago but the woman who plays Hailee Steinfeld's mother is Katey Sagal who before Married With Children did backing vocals with some really big names and is a very well-respected singer. In case that is in your next trivia night or a fun fact for anyone.
