    Hello! Sorry for my few pronunciation errors in the vid! I didn't have time to edit those.
    As for the section where traveler and Paimon were reading letters in "beautiful handwriting", those were interactable materials from the Hidden Strife event, the combat event where Diluc revealed his new outfit to us! It gave us a hint about his time as the Darknight Hero while he was still using his delusion and the letters were actually updates from Kaeya about the rough situation at the Knights of Favonius. So yes, Kaeya CANONICALLY HAS BEAUTIFUL HANDWRITING!!!
    I showed that portion to depict how there was lots of drama about Mondstadt that the traveler could only infer but these letters did not appear in the archon quest. My argument was not that the archon quest gave us those details but that the archon quest writers seemed to have those details in mind during their conceptualization phase even before telling us about these intricate plot points in the quest itself. Very interesting.
    Anyway thank you for watching

    Playing other gacha games (Star Rail and especially WuWa) made me appreciate how good the Mondstadt quests were. The reveal of the dragon with Venti is head and shoulders above those other games in terms of hooking you into the game.

      Same. I always loved the Mondstat quest the most because of how simple it is. It is lore heavy without lore bombing you and it is very short compared to the first act of both Wuwa and Star rail.
      Star Rail, considering act 1 is not Belobog, is an okay start to the story. But Wuwa came out as lore heavy in Act 1 only. I was fine witht the lore bomb in Act 4 but not the first Act.

      It was the appeal that got me into the game, like Dragons and RPGs? during the pandemic years to fill my free time up with? That's absolutely awesome! combined with the fact on how simple Genshin was during 1.x patches, yet so flashy and alluring.

    I think what Mondstadt did extremely well was give players just enough lore to be intrigued and want to learn more about the world and characters. That and it’s pacing for the first chapter was really good. You would get bits of story and then be freed to explore the available world to your hearts content

    I agree with a lot of points you make. I suspect that the reason Mondstat is often overlooked is mainly just because of recency bias and people considering production value to be the same as quality. It's vastly underrated imo and I'm glad to see others talk about it too

      @samkelly5045 3 дня назад

      @@SirindilableThe Inazuma quest is one of those quests where it seems fine externally but when you get into the nitty gritty there’s a lot of things wrong with it.
      Things like the people of Inazuma simply forgiving Ei so easily, I would’ve liked if some of them were really distrustful of her instead and Ei could have a quest or something about helping her citizens, I understand that Ei suffered with the loss of her sister and her friends, but that doesn’t warrant stealing people’s visions, I have the same sentiment towards Wanderer, he basically just erased all his wrongdoings and he’s instantly forgiven. Both their writing is just messy to me.
      Teppei was super underutilised, his death is supposed to be impactful but most of the bonding that him and the traveller have together happens off screen with a massive time skip. Compare Teppei to NPCs like Dunyarzad, Melus, Silver, Jeht, Ru, Enjou, Kazari, Arama, Zhiqiong, etc. and it’s like night and day, I get that some of these NPCs are world quest NPCs so they get more focus and screentime, but even NPCs like Dunyarzad and Melus & Silver who appeared in the Archon quests feel better utilised.
      I have other small gripes like Ayato not appearing and all of his efforts being off screen, the whole reason Thoma was picked as the 100th vision to be stolen by the Shogun was because he was involved in the rescue operations between the Yashiro Commission and The Resistance, we learned about this in that music event in 4.6, which once again a massive chunk of Inazuma lore thrown away in a limited event. Kokomi’s writing is pretty bad and she doesn’t show off her skills as a strategist for Watasumi.
      Of course I’m not saying that you shouldn’t like this quest or anything, rather I’m just pointing out reasons why people dislike the Inazuma quest so much, please don’t take my words too harshly.

    • @Sirindilable
      @Sirindilable 3 дня назад

      @@samkelly5045 Thank you for very interesting and detailed reply. And for the most part i agree with you. The way it works for me is maybe, because i played whole story 3 times. On alt account and on another after i decided to make some videos. And 2nd and 3rd time story felt better. Teppei death felt impactful, small details become more notable.. Which is all the perfect marker that story was rushed. If should be at least 2 times longer. Sangonomiya section was definitely cut to oblivion. I do not know if it because of pandemic reasons or something else. Still, Inazuma picture stands strong in my memory and this is what matters after time passed.
      Only thing i can not agree with you completely is about Ei. I think you trying to judge her with the mind of modern human, living in modern society.
      Im not doing this. My familiarity with history maybe not profound, but i know how people of 15-17 century and before (especially in asia) felt about representative of power. This is not "someone like us, just in charge". Nobody double guessed they decisions and orders. That was unthinkable. Raiden has no wrongdoings because there is no higher authority to make such evaluation. If she did it - this is a right thing to do.
      Also, what exactly she did "wrong"? Sakoku decree which prohibited trade? Well, we had same sakoku decree in real Japan. And it helped economy of Japan to retain it base and not get consumed by western capitals. So, this is a proven good thing.
      Vision hust decree? Hmm.... How many vision owners do we have in percentage of population? Game never gave clear answer. 1 in100? 1 in 1000? We can make an assumption that we know all "allogines" in each nation and this is like 10-15 people in each? I feel it something around 1 percent, less maybe? Majority of population do not even care. Don't you think it was Ayaka who manipulated us emotionally by directing us to several of this selected people? I think that was reasonable because traveler naturally, perhaps could not even notice this problem. It national scale is too small.
      So, last topic is Civil war. This is real one. But hoe many times european kings started wars just because of pride, grudge, or simply for fun? They are kings. They can do it and nobody can judge them. And i do not think WE can judge them too from our modern perspective.
      So, all this idea of Ei been forgiven is weird to me. Each Citizen on Inazuma is already must be eternally grateful to her because she is a god and she did not kill them all just for fun:)
      Something like that. As same as you, this is just an explanation why some of the issues you see in this story is a non issue for me and why i agree with your other points. After all, Inazuma is good. We discussing it, we remember it. And do not know how about you but i miss Inazuma. It gave me a lot of amazing emotional adventures.

    Genshin is built on "promise" The way things are written constantly hints at a payoff way down the road and the storytelling is confident, accompanied with the music makes it so the mystery really sells itself, very few games pull this off the way Genshin does. Elden Ring, Zelda are among some of the games that I think has the same mystique built into it.

    Liyue has the adepti but they're kinda lumped together rather than completely separate topics, childe, and yelan is liyue diluc.
    Inazuma.... uh yae? Tbh it's an island nation and the eternity lock down.
    Sumeru.... wanderer I guess....
    fountaine has arlechinno who's just childe and wanderer, lyney and his sibilings but still fatui, obviously neuvilette, and..... done? In terms of variety and just span of linkage, mondstat is just far ahead. mondstat probably has more ties to the abyss order than any other region.

    This is common people forget what they experienced because they make those memories into their own. Instead they remember everything they DIDN'T like or think they don't like. Mostly it is that you only get a puzzle piece a time and very often don't even match until much later. If you revisit the early archon quest a lot of information is hidden in the cut scenes. I can name a few, Venti gives Dvalin "the power of anemo" while being powerless against Signora. His braids are not lighting up while he is doing his magic he is faking it. La Signora is protecting Paimon while battling Venti she is putting Paimon into ice it's done masterfully as usual in Genshin it's not something you pick up on as important. This suggest that they suspect what Paimon is and that she is important to the existence of Theyvat. Later on you encounter Raiden in Inazuma and the same thing happens again

    I still prefer the style of the Mondstadt/Liyue Archon Quests. They had more heart and the character moments were better, and in general everything flowed better. Both also had very satisfying conclusions.
    Modern Genshin relies more on trying to gaslight the player into believing a characters is everything they say they are, without showing them do anything at all, and rely much more on artificial drama and flashy cutscenes. Still some good moments here and there, but I personally would like if they took some notes from the first two archon quests.

      They've taken the visual novel route in writing which falls short since we have a full 3d camera to show instead of tell. I don't have problem with stock animation, totally understandable to save resources for the game engine that they use but I wanted more cinematic.

    • @AmirPrinceling
      @AmirPrinceling 9 дней назад +2

      @famimame That's a great way or describing it, visual novel style. Though even in Visual Novels, you will still experience cool things, while in Genshin, most of the action happened in the past.
      I'm not even asking for crazy cinematics, just would be nice to see characters actually do things rather than talking about the things they do. Also, in general, would be nice if they dedicated more quests to established characters rather than NPCs. That also really holds the game's story back for me, how little we actually see its characters.

    Personally in my case, I had read the prologue of the manga before the game's release, and I adored Venti during Vennessa's story. He's the kind of good trickster character I really like, and he has a lot of tropes that are my favorites. So when I had a good enough computer to try Genshin, which was around 1.2, I was super biased towards Venti and Mondstadt so I needed to know what would happen to his dragon buddy. I'm not sure if I would've been in the same level of investment if we had started with a non-Venti-related conflict. That said, I got hooked immediately with the Liyue archon quest so I dare to say the early Genshin storytelling was my kind of thing regardless since I kept playing to know what happened to the geo archon (even despite being spoiled that the brown sexy man was him).

    There is a reason why Mondstadt became home to a lot of players. Even now in polls, Mondstadt always scores relatvely higher because of how it was a well established place and its people the most welcoming.
    I like Wuwa as a game, but the story still needs to get a good pacing and while the end of part 1 seems epic with everyone coming together despite the narrative not really making it a really good payoff for something.
    Anyway, I have always seen Mondstadt as a strong start and see a very big decline in quality of storytelling in Liyue and Inazuma (which had its moments but mostly meh).

    at the end of the day I think the reason I love Mondsdat so much is that it didn’t over complicate anything. It was more focused on story beats than it was on lore and trivia. There’s just enough mystery to keep you interested, and the emotional closure with Dvalin and Venti is beautiful to see. It put more emphasis on the emotional moments than on the plot twists and lore. Venti is still one of the games best characters simply because it’s obvious how much he cares about people, despite his own personal problems. His ideals are probably the most righteous of any archon, and that theme is present throughout all of Mondsdat. I really feel like Sumeru’s story would have hit harder were it simpler and less aimed at Big Brain plot twists. Mondsdats story left me satisfied, not confused

    You can tell that they had a very solid story in mind from the very beginning because you can look back after the later quests and notice small things that were actually foreshadowing. Rosalyne saying "I never asked for redemption" in the Inazuma quest is noteworthy to me because it seems like from several different perspectives that Genshin (and Star Rail) is HoYoverse's "redemption" game. There's a thing in HI3 with the "Herrscher of Corruption" resembling an eyeball and from what I can tell is metaphorical for "the audience" (aka us players). It's funny then how Elysia says they've lived with "pride" yet the male characters in the Flamechasers that they clearly put effort into aren't allowed to be playable. Imo it seems to me that from the start of Genshin HYV have sneakily been using the "frog pot boiling" technique to warm the players up to certain things (and sneak it past CN government) like playable male characters, genderless characters, official relationships inc non-straight, etc. and based on the Pyro Gem text it's all gonna "blow up" in Natlan.

    From what I remember of glancing through the articles I was writing back in 2021, a lot of what passed for lore articles back then was a low level figuring out of the general feel of the setting and characters backgrounds. That included a lot of the Liyue stuff, but not yet Dragonspine. Of the larger plot of the game you get very little until Enkanomiya and Ei's 2nd story quest, and what you do get tended to lead to a lot of bad takes by many. Well I suppose that continued to some extent but in the beginning it was especially happening a lot. There was initially a few linkages to HI3 which led to many people trying to squeeze the plot into a Honkai style plot. Therefore everything was seen in terms of Celestia destroying old civilizations because they grew to technologically advanced as a means to avoid summoning greater disaster like the Honkai. A lot of bad takes were cemented in place for a lot of people back then. Another example would be all the crazy myths the game handed out about Zhongli, at the same time as constantly telling us that they were just crazy myths. A lot of people simply ignored all the warnings and to this day we have tons of people dedicated to these myths that never went anywhere. We also had the mystery of Visions introduced and we got a lot of data to process as each character had their own story on how they got theirs, as well as many NPCs talking about why they felt Visions were handed out and by whom. These stories were false which was hinted at by making them so contradictory. And amazingly people have continued to hold bad takes from that time through Ei's statement in Inazuma and even Neuvillette's take on it in Fontaine.
    I would say yet another big source of falsehoods were the occasional Moon Sister mentions, and in general the mythological books and tales that pretty much shrieked "red herring" to me, but many took with devout certainty that these beings really existed - which continues three years later despite never getting any more information about the existence of them (beyond a confirmation that 3 decidedly not alive moons used to exist).
    So my impression early on was that there was a lot of false info to be sifted through, and this continues through the game though as we get the main themes of the game (fate being challenged to put an end to the "shackles" constricting human development and the history of 3 factions fighting for control of Teyvat since ancient times) we get a little less time for red herrings.

    It was an amazing AQ, for an introduction to the world and story. There wouldn't be veteran players if it had been bad, lol.

    It was never a question of which story was the best, it was more of which one has the best storytelling. Genshin’s story is not bad, it is simply that their storytelling really sucks, but at least it got better overtime.

      The story telling has it's ups and downs. Same as the story itself.
      Tell a summary of the Inazuma story to someone who hasn't played the game and it will sound amazing, but those who have played it will know how badly executed it was.
      Fontaine was amazing overall on both story and execution, except the chapter 3 where they made you experience the life of an inmate longer than it was necessary.
      The last quest was a good one until the end when the writer(s) decided to brush everything off, otherwise, the outcome would have had some interesting ramifications in the future.
      I'm not expecting perfection, even the best stories I've experienced have their flaws, but I'm more hyped for the next chapter when the last one was nearly perfect.

    Genshin had better livestream, better story, better lore, better worldbuilding, better landscapes, better direction, better pacing, better smooth animation, better voice acting, better sound design, better optimization, better controls, better colors, better visuals, better iconic resemblance, better remembrance, better professionalism, better revenue, and better planning even on it's first day, than whatever the **** happened on that other new game.
