    Thank you!! Amazing playing and great demonstration. Calm, step by step and with a plan well thought out in advance how to present the different settings. Really helpful!! (great Mayer/SRV tone) - and an awesome smokin' guitar!!

    This might be the best demo of this pedal, and a far better explanation of how the controls work to subtly shape an already-excellent foundational tone. My nutshell description of the SSS is that Steel shapes the highs, giving you some push, but without too much grit, while Supreme rounds the lows, allowing bloom without too much breakup. I think the pedal's best use is with a very good clean Fender tube amp, because I can't find anything in it that I can't get from my Vox Valvenergy Silk Drive, when pushing an IR loader. My '65 Fender Super Reverb loves the Vertex, particularly where I can't open it up all the way, which is pretty much everywhere.

      Thanks so much @m0j0b0ne! Yeah I agree it really thrives into a fender clean sound, it has that super reverb dna in it. So I can imagine it work’s incredibly well into one to get it cooking without killing in volume. Hard to crank a super anywhere these days for sure! Glad you enjoyed the demo!

    It would be nice to have a drive pedal with all these features except the EQ section done more neutral so that it works with less color to the amp sound. SRV is cool and all but I think the pedal has nice features that can be applied to other styles. Very nice video, thanks

    Great review. Curious when amp is set to dirty, if it's still the deluxe reverb there's not much to do but crank the volume to get dirt. I'm looking at buying one of these to use mainly with my DR, curious what you did to get the dirty setting? Thanks

    • @CollinLittlejohn

      this demo was all Deluxe Reverb, the dirty setting was just cranking the amp. this pedal definitely opens up some tonal possibilities with a DR

  • @joshscus
    @joshscus 2 года назад +1

    Hi, great demo, lots of playing! One thing I think you mentioned about the pedal with the Supreme side being like the output section, the opposite is true. Just like on a real Dumble or most amps with toggle switches, they are in the preamp section.
    So the “Output” on the Supreme side is action how hard you’re pushing into tue front of the standard Steel String side.
    I have a clone of Steel String Singer #002 (Mayer’s), and once you combined both sides of the pedal, it really started to sound like the real thing with the fullness, snap and glass!

    • @CollinLittlejohn
      @CollinLittlejohn  2 года назад +1

      Hey Josh, thanks for you comment but actually the supreme side is after the original steel string circuit. The steel string is the preamp side and the supreme is a blend of the clean EQ, an overall fatness (similar to the filter controls in the dumble that are in series after the preamp, and the overall output (I.e. master volume). Steel String > Supreme order. The toggle switches are different than the input toggles on the dumble amp. These live after the filter knob of the original steel string.

    • @CollinLittlejohn
      @CollinLittlejohn  2 года назад

      That’s a tough question, they both do different things. The Kingtone Blues Power does great cranked super reverb light to heavy overdrive. This Vertex SSS SRV doesn’t have a ton of gain on tap by any means but tons of subtle tweak ability for clean to “starting to break up” tones and feels a lot more like a bold Dumble response rather than chewy Super Reverb like the Blues Power

    • @CollinLittlejohn

      It could definitely be run both ways, it mainly depends on how you want to use it. If you want the feel of this thing always on and use it as a master tone shaper then i would run it after all your drive pedals. If you want to use it as a really cool boost then I would put it before other drive pedals.

    • @CollinLittlejohn
      @CollinLittlejohn  Год назад

      There is not really a specific SRV tone settings on this pedal, rather it's inspired by various iterations of SRV's tones as whole. So technically all settings when pairs with a Strat and cleanish amp are SRV inspired with this pedal.
