Not gonna lie. That Little Wing tone sounded really close to the record. Matt plunking the glass was just priceless.
Ryan Lauderdale qbq
I think pilky27 did a much better job. Also they didnt use a tremolo arm
Not even close...
@@michaelweise3726 I mean the tone was good
@@Eternity909 agreed. but they should have added a deja vibe or something for the leslie speaker effect
It’s always loads of fun! Thanks for watching guys. I’m definitely not Jimi and no one will ever be, but it’s still tons of fun :)
Rabea Massaad Avenged Sevenfold next m8!!
Rabea Massaad also, you did a bang up job on these, well done.
Don't care for these bunch of haters and trolls, their don't have the same fingers and talent that you have. You are great man,I Love you Beah
Rabea Massaad... I think the sound you guys are missing in this tone is the 'Uni-Vibe' to me it instantly sounds like Hendrix.
It would be very interesting to see a genuine Vs reissue video, a legit 60's strat Vs a custom shop etc.
0:54 Purple Haze without busting
1:06 Voodoo Child without busting
15:57 Purple Haze by busting
9:39 Voodoo Child by busting
Legend
Without Tadalafil you wanna say...
@@fabricio4794 sorry?
Regarding the busting versions, the wah on Voodoo Chile was superb. However, I feel the overall sound lacked some depth that more reverb would provide. Secondly, the Purple Haze sound had too much distortion and not enough fuzz.
You guys need to do better about the backing instruments. What model was the glass and why did you chose it? What water level is appropriate? (I noticed a skillful water level change mid-song) What should I expect tonally by using whiskey instead of water?
Other than that, just amazing. ;-p
James Barros tone liquid aint real bro, its about the alnico or ceramic glass
H20nas taste is in the tongue, bro. Doesn’t matter about the glass or bottle construction.
It has to be analogue water, none of the digital modelling water shit...
Matt’s glass chiming really made that little wing cover
Recon x He shouldn't have drunk from the glass as that affects tone of the glass
^lol another tonewater purist
SadHappy it's not all about tonewater it didn't mess the tone up that bad
Honestly thinking the same thing; that made the video for me.
Matt's beard is going to have its own segment on Andertons TV soon.
Michael V thick tones with matts beard live on andertons TV
big b subscribed
Michael V oh yea. I dig it, voodoo Chile starts out and pan camera to the left and. cut cut cut.... where is the nest from the coffee table?? it appears that tweety and toot toot's nest must have disappeared into thin air..... oh where could it beeeeeeeeeee? oh look there's some chap that's playing guitar and oh noooooooooooo. The nest has been found and it is on the chap playing clank clank. what will tweety and toot toot doooooooooooo?
15:19 "It does this thing..."
Me: Yeah?
*Switches it on*
Me: 😮
This is exactly what I was looking for, thx!
This is the best tone you guys have ever gotten in this series in my opinion.
great tones but did not sound like JH
I think it sounded a lot like him. I wish I had that tone.
U done hendrix, gotta do stevie ray BY busting the bank now!!!
Dan Kendall AMEN!!
Drew Biggah u don’t know what you’re talking about
@Drew Biggah You've clearly never listened to SRV.
@Drew Biggah it's been 8 month's now, did you listen to any SRV??
@Drew Biggah Shit I'd love to be a copy of jimi
I feel like the Sounds Like series has slowed down a bit as of recent, and I hope that more By Busting the Banks come out soon. I love hearing expensive gear that I'll probably never own sound like legendary shit. Good job as always!
Antonio C. To be fair Bea is in two recording and touring bands, works for Chapman and is soon to be part of the live Frog Leap band. Matt is high level at Chapman guitars. Neither one of them probably has a huge amount of time to do this, not as much as before anyway. So yeah there might be less episodes.
I noticed that too. I know they're busy and have other stuff but Sounds Like is how a lot of people found this channel. It's such an awesome concept for a video series. There's def no shortage of ideas/artists to do, the whole comment thread is always suggestions. I check my subscriptions every day for new sounds like vids
Antonio C. Hey man, there’s many reasons for it slowing a bit, one being that there are so many videos being made on this channel that the video room isn’t always free for us to book, and then on top of that, we are also mega busy so it’s sometimes really hard to line up all the calendars.
I must say it is never contrived, we never know what we’re using until we get in the store and look.
I any case, we love filming these episodes and we won’t be stopping anytime soon.
Rabea Massaad thanks for the honesty. Its a very refreshing thing from a RUclips creator towards the channels fans and viewers.
please keep the outtakes coming too... so so inspiring (believe it or not) to know even "pro's" have to practise. Mucho respect ...
LIttle wing is on axis bold as love ARGHHHHHHHHH
It's Quodo it’s also on the album they put there too
Chris Seymour it's not.
theaxedude1 go look on iTunes
Chris Seymour ITunes is incorrect. Little Wing came out on "Axis: Bold As Love" not "Are You Experienced."
Sadly, many only know Hendrix by what is on Best Of Compilations.
You had a genuine ‘64 strat and didn’t use THAT?!
It has to be something that is in stock and avalible for the normal consumer
Now now that would of destroyed the bank ☺
Malcolm Hardwick new series-Destroying the Bank. Lol
No, Cole. Watch the GnR where they used the Slash head
Who does that belong to?
If you do Metallica by busting, please play more riffy stuff instead of doing three of the ballads
That'd be great
ESP with emg and a mkiic+ or mkiii and a roland jc for clean and you're there
Sound like Dream Theater (without busting, would be very interesting)
And we've been waiting ages for this, glad you've done it 🎉
I'd go Sterling by Music Man Sub, Blackstar/Egnater for the mesa like tones, Cry Baby, TS mini, some form of multi modulation unit which hopefully squeezes under budget
Mal Reynolds
Not necessarily. He used to play Ibanez and you can find a pretty decent RG that'll get close to his sound for not a whole lot of dough. Find yourself a cheap wah with a good sweep (maybe the EHX Wailer Wah), a decent delay (EHX Canyon is a good choice), and maybe something like a flanger or phaser. The amp would be the tricky bit, but I'm sure you can find a good substitute for a Mesa Boogie amp for not too much money, like one of the Hughes & Kettner TubeMeister amps.
Actually, I literally just listed my own rig there.
What? You can't afford a JP signature guitar, amp, strings, pedals and guitar pick?
...only the pick. In fact, the JP Jazz IIIs are my main picks now!
Kaledonia23 when I looked up all my gear that I listed (plus my somewhat expensive guitar which can be substituted out), it came up to juuuuuust shy of the 1500 pound mark according to Anderton's prices.
I was with Matt on the glass until he took a drink and threw it out of tune.
Ryan Sauer Sorry man! Next time...
Matt Hornby All is forgiven! I'm partial to freshly empty beer mug tone anyway.
@@mattwhornby LOL
Should've gotten a custom shop lefty. And strung it righthanded
Hendrix actually had a Strat with a tele neck at one point
Used it during the Newport festival
But it's ain't iconic
Cinnamon Life Cereal no ones claiming it is
The white Woodstock one had a Tele neck if I remember correctly.
SRV too
In b4 the Hendrix estate makes you take this down.
Sound like Jimi Hendrix without going deaf
You won't get very far
Impossible
Problem with wanting to sound like hendrix is all the feedback you need by the gain, a lot of the magic is the life in the overtones
Telecaster has the best headstock in all of fenders lineup, and it makes a strat look so much cooler
Great work as always guys!
PRINCE!!!
Frank Zappa
Tom Morello by Busting
SOAD by Busting
Sounds like QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE by busting the bank!!
KipCasper that would be amazing. And Josh and Troy use some very boutique shit so it’ll definitely bust the hell out of the bank! Haha
6:07 - Little Wing
7:30 - Foxy Lady
9:38 - Voodoo Child (Slight Return)
12:00 - Hey Joe
15:57 - Purple Haze
That Hey Joe section, Rabea had that dialed in like no other. His playing was on point, so amazing. The tone was on point don’t get me wrong, but his playing was so Jimi.
Watching this video before Hendrix LLC takes it down :D
David van Scheppingen - no really. Isn’t that going to happen? They are pretty serious about that sort of thing.
Videos down for me haha
Please do early Van Halen.
This “sound like” episode is proof positive that “by busting” is sometimes the way ... way closer / better than “by not busting”. Well done, gents.
Absolutely one of the best and Jimi is one of my idols. This has to be probably my favorite in this series. Keep them coming!
Sound like Prince, it needs to be done! And get Danish Pete to guest on it.
Rob Holiday Seconded! Get on this guys.
This!
Yes! Please make this happen!
Mick Taylor could do the job as well, he's a shy Prince addict as well ...
Alexandre Fay-Keller Is he really? Never noticed that in his playing like with Pete, I’ll listen for it.
I know to sound like Jimi you have to be Jimi. But boy Rabea puts too much soul into his Hendrix improvisations. Comes awfully close. And that's a big statement.
Totally agree man, but was I the only one who was weirdly irritated by the fact Rabea didn't use Jimi's thumb over the top technique for Little Wing? Its absolutely idiotic to be annoyed because it sounded great, but it kind of ate at me.
@@ethanrummel7638 I physically can't play those chords without the thump over the top, I'd say it's more impressive to do it without. Edit: I also didn't realise it was a Hendrix technique, my teacher just showed me it as an alternate way to make chords without hurting my hands.
Doc Roid me too, he’s good. I definitely hear some Jimi there.
Yes I love his touch a lot but to be honest his version of little wing is a little bit weird because he always play the full bar chord which is not what is played in the song
I mean to be fair u can't just half ass jimi if ur gonna ATTEMPT to play like the Master u gotta put ur all into it.
Near spat out my coffee when Matt hit the glass, so funny
This was easily my favorite Sounds Like so far. You definitely had a Jimi sound even when you weren’t playing Jimi. And you guys certainly did good justice to your excerpts...Hey Joe sounded awesome. As soon as this snow melts away I’m heading out to grab an Octavio!
Do “Sounds like” Randy Rhoads BY busting the bank!!
V! V!!
You could play through one of those little 5 watt practice Marshall amps and get his sound
Kody Arocho 😂😂😂😂
Kody Arocho Although I strongly disagree, this is hilarious 😂
@@laci4194 That's what Ozzy thought his sound was
Gotta do Philip Sayce by busting the bank!
I really wish there would be the funds or means to have a real vintage vs custom shop relic blindfold challenge. I'm interested to see how well the "mojo" of custom shops of Fender or Gibson matches that of a true vintage guitar. Obviously you don't run across a true '59 Les Paul very often so I know this is far fetched, but hey, I can dream can't I?
STSGuitar16 check Marty Music. He went to a museum and was allowed to compare
I could listen to your Hey Joe jam for hours..
The key to using the fuzz face with the plexi is turning the volume of the fuzz face all the way up and the fuzz almost all the way down, that's how i get the hendrix sound with my plexi.
Do sounds like Rebea Massaad.
Chappers and the Captain sound like 'Bea without busting the bank
RogueSwan Idk if we need any more Chapman Guitars advertisements, man
Zac Miller yeah, that would have to be part of the deal, no Chapman models. But on the flipside, Matt and Bea to do a blindfold challenge on a few previous "sounds like" rigs
RogueSwan dude, you legit cant sound like Chapman or Bea without a Chapman guitar.
So glad you guys are doing these videos again it's very entertaining for me considering I have seen every other one so it's nice to have some new stuff
I could listen hours of both of you just jamming to the chords of Purple Haze. Marvellous!
Wait, isn’t Little Wing on Axis: Bold as Love?
yeah
It is
Yup. And there is no album called The Jimi Hendrix Experience.
Yeah that was the name of the band itself and Are You Experienced was the name of the album. Noobs. LOL!
james brasfield yup..
Sound like Grateful Dead/ Dead and Company!
Working my way back through these and after watching the Captain interview ‘Bea and him mention he used to obsess over sounding exactly like a specific record.. it makes these videos so much better! You can tell he is super invested in the tiny nuances of the song
I bought this guitar. It's weird watching it being played by Rabea on the tubes!
Sounds like mark knopfler busting the bank!
Signature Suhr with a ToneKing amp, Compressor and Wah and maybe some other jangly effects
The thing is, with Mark it's 90% in his fingers.
Not the easiest thing to do as he dosent hide behind lots of effects ☺ It's in the fingers 🎸
great playing by Rabea and Matt as usual. Would love to hear more hendrix 'clean' tones from that rig like wind cries mary.
Thanks guys I really appreciate this series of buget and bust the bank of great artist, you make it fun and entertaining.
This was really good guys. Foxey Lady tone was absolutely killer! Bea you did amazing
SOUNDS LIKE: The Grateful Dead Please!!!!!!
That was absolutely cathartic hearing Bea struggle with Little Wing! I now feel less shit when such an excellent player can struggle with it as well :)
I wouldn't call that 'struggling with Little Wing'. He was able to pull it off.
I struggle...that wasn't struggling
That purple haze fuzz sounds incredible!
Probably your best so far. Great sound.
That VOX sounded Wonderful .
💜Looking so much forward to this chapter 💜
FilippaQ Hi Phillippa.
Sounds so good, it brought a tear to my eye.
Man as soon as Rabea ripped into purple haze he immediately sold me on that Octavio fuzz.
Jesus that sound was just perfect.
little wing was on axis bold as love lol
Please do bass sounds like! Only more money to be made, and Nathan and Lee would do a great job!
sound like the late Clifford Lee Burton or Lemmy Kilmister
Royal blood!
Been waiting for this one for ages! Great video guys
That strat is beautiful! Yes please
Would love to hear Sound like Sleep!
High On Fire would be awesome as well
Thomas Carmichael YESSSSS!
YES!
Love that strat. Don’t normally do relic finishes, but oooooo that one. And I’m normally a Tele man anyway. So to have a Tele neck is a shape I love.
The JTM does that tone... nails it.
And that MXR is perfect.
The playing as usual is great 👍
That strat is just a piece of crap. Buying something used in a factory is a non-sense.
I tend to agree. Having a guitar that works well for both Jimi Hendrix and Junior Brown is a natural fit in my part of the world. (Of course, I don't know it's the right one until I play it.) Also, I think most of the gear highlighted in both videos works. So there are alternatives, which is nice. The one big difference to my ears was the amps. No surprise there. Nice video! Thanks.
Sorry. Not clear. I tend to agree with Paul Summerside. No offense intended to others with different opinions.
Some great sounding Fenders there! So great to hear.
Sounded ridiculously good and authentic. Rad as usual fellas.
The JTM already take you there 90%
the glass sounds exactly like jimi!
Nice work on the Pint Glass Matt. All round great demo guys.
More outtakes! It shows how hard you guys work to get it right, when it's right.
It sounded great guys. Matt playing the glass was epic. Aside from sounding like Jimi, that was such a great sound. Love those JTM-45s and that Mischief Maker was greatness. But using that octave in there... whoa!! Sounded like it was gonna explode. This and the Gilmore are my favorite “By Busting” sounds by far.
THAT HEY JOE SOLO
Holy mother of God that guitar looks and sounds incredible. Amazing playing as well
That's the best sound like you've ever done.!! Sounds amazing that's incredible really incredible
Everybody better watch this before the Hendrix estate makes Andertons take the video down.
Eduardo Yanez can’t really blame them, he was burned by the music business in life. When being more talented and innovative then any and all of the rock stars of the time.
Jane Hendrix needs to go. Shes not even a blood sister she's his sister thru marriage smh.
Still havent taken it down
You guys should've used the rotary speaker in the monterey on Little Wing
It's a Leslie. Pretty common run with a Hammond organ.
Glad these are back
Oh those Hendrix riffs they never get old
Damn, nobody wants to talk about that
"Hay joe" solo???
sound like van halen please
Rasmus Duus old VH sound not the new one
they could only really get a wolfgang and something other than an EVH amp cos both an EVH guitar and EVH amp would leave not much room for pedals cos they need phaser, overdrive, maybe wah, a bit of delay probably and some reverb and probably flange
a charvel san dimas, 5150 head with celestion v30s, mxr phaser, mxr flanger, boss digital delay. you're welcome
You came as close as any attempt I have heard, and you could see, and feel your excitement in the filming of this one.
This was another great video you guys killed it with the Jimi licks Bea you’re insane man
I think the previous SL was closer.
I'm wondering if the attenuator messed up the tone here. I seriously thought the tone was just off on this one.
I agree I feel like it was the attenuator
i disagree, this was WAY closer
the attenuator might've done something bad to the tone but i tell you it's closer than the £1500
I genuinely think they were closer with the under 1500 rig
You're right indeed but I like foxey lady on this one more
Maybe you're right, but that tone was HUUUGE.. Now i wanna try this, looks so much fun :DD
That makes sense because a lot of jimi's gear was cheap, his fuzz pedal was only like $6
Lansley Boy Why does the foxy lady tone sound so good in this one? What part makes it so woodstock-y
i disagree, it was closer in this one
you may think that because the OX Box drowned most of it out
Rabea you are such a great guitarist! the expression is unreal!
This might be the best sounds like you lot have ever done!
These guys have the best jobs
Iron Maiden BY busting the bank!! Please do it.
Was just about to comment that :D
When it comes to Iron Maiden the mic technique is very important. The always used a specific mic and it's very hard to get one of these. An sm57 will do the job but they should not only use a close mic. The key is to use the mic a few inches away from the speaker.
Or at the very least Judas Priest without busting the bank.
@Worlds Most Mediocre Guitarist oh boy i can't wait for that, full on signature models for both Dave and Adrian and i know they'll get the USA Adrian Smith signature cos it's £2000+ and i wonder if they'll go Victory V100 for dave or both marshall
What a perfect sound!! That' s my favourite sound like
Great effort fellas. Awesome playing and tones.
megadeth please?
DAI HARD TRYING And Please also include David Ellefson!
Yes!, Marty Friedman's lead tone on Rust in Peace, and Dave's rhythm tone on that album are great to try out
so they'll need a jackson kelly for marty and an amp that can get a close sound to his signature ENGL head, and i can't really think of any fx really
because andertons don't actually stock dean they'll need to find a v or something for dave or an explorer cos one of his deans is explorer shaped but the thing is if they do the last solo from hangar 18 it'll have to be a 24 fret guitar for the F# bend he does at the end, i'm not sure what amps he uses but it'll have to be something high gain and stuff
Sounds like Muse BY busting the bank!
10rubiks Glorious Art I see
Both literally and subjectively
10rubiks true
10rubiks that would be amazing. You can only really sound like Muse by busting the bank. Way too extravagant.
Hell yeah I've been waiting for this one for a while
You guys always do a great job .
Sound likes I want to see: J Mascis, Kiss, Van Halen, St Vincent
The beatles would be cool for you to do I reckon
Oscar Madslien how has this not happened
Twp Hiraeth Totally agree with you
Nailed the sound. Awesome playing!
Revisiting this video years and years later, I find it interesting that some of the tones here are definitely an improvement while others actually sounded better WITHOUT busting the bank.
electricity never sounded so sexy. thanks guys
Keep the outtakes at the end. Adds a lot. How about Andy Taylor of Duran Duran?
Superb playing as always, you both inspire me as do all the andertons videos. love to see johnny marr again by busting the bank.
Loved the little wing cover
You should really do a sound like Eddie Van Halen
They have.
