How does it compare to the SSS supreme vertex pedal ? Why do we need the SRV? Is there a dramatic difference or is it for nostalgia? Need some help here
Just got this pedal,And while the SRV and dumble tones are the selling point and easiest way to sell the idea, it does so much more. Its like a boost, dual gain stage pedal, compressor, eq, bass boost, treble boost, I mean come on. Thanks for the pedal Mason!
The talking was totally unnecessary. Just show the settings and play the sound. Sounded better through the DI than the Fender Deville. Not a whole lot like Stevie or Rory. Missed opportunity IMHO. The non- Vertex knock off version was much more lively IMHO.
I wanted to let you know, you're not going to get any better of a tone then the vertex steel string supreme and the Keeley katana together... those two pedals together( the Dynamics,) the sound of the boost of the mini kantina which almost has a Chime harmonic sound .with the Vertex will blow you away.
I like the Vertex Boost mk2 better, I love Keeley Pedals.. but the Vertex Boost should be the heart of any Pedalboard.. it does magic 🪄 And Although I adore and love SRV I don’t want to sound like him, I think I will get the Euphoria from Wampler or the Ultraphonix for my Esquire/5e3 combination 😊 but.. great video!
@@MrBrungers Glad you dig the Boost. Both the Vertex Boost and Katana are great! The Ultraphonix is my favorite pedal we make and we really have the most number of Dumble amps to voice that one right and get the feel right.
@@VertexEffectsInc I discovered that too. It seems I also need a Str*t. As a lifelong Gibson player, this pains me no end. Maybe a Tele would help. Marvelous pedal guys. 👍🎸🇬🇧📦
Thank You! This is first demo I've found that truly attempts to emulate the Dumble tones I've been looking for. Also, Jules is one hell of a player👍!! One recommendation, instead running an overdrive like a TS in front of the pedal, try adding the TS after the SSS SVR. For my taste, a TS makes the SSS sound more like a TS. I prefer the SSS SRV to color the TS. I like being on the verge of feedback, even on my "clean" sound (ala Larry Carlton), it's a tight "clean" distortion with endless sustain. Very dynamic.
I bought one, and was skeptical it was going to sound as good as advertised, but I can confirm it’s amazing. As good as a Shin Dumbloid for less than half the price. Closest thing to a Dumble I will ever get.
I just got a secret tone vertex screamer type pedal! It’s hands down the best tube screamer pedal I’ve ever owned! I was floored when I first plugged it in. It’s my first vertex pedal and it I’m gonna add way more of them to my collection. Absolutely amazing!
for future demos, most certainly, but could you imagine for an initial launch video if we didn't do some SRV. No single video can do it all, typically there needs to be layers of content for different applications and players. You can also see the Steel String Supreme standard to get an idea of what this pedal is capable of - the EQ of the SRV is a bit different on the Steel String side, but the Supreme channel is the same on both models. We have dozens of videos on that pedal out on RUclips and here on Sweetwater's channel. Definitely check them out :)
I have a T-Drive pedal that the foot switch doesn’t always engage and a noise from the pedal the only way to contact Vertex is there email which they never respond and no phone number to call and they don’t repair there own pedals this sucks I line the pedal but I will buy from another company
How does the SSS pedal take high gain pedals? I'm looking for an analog preamp that can take a light overdrive and a high gain pedal like a Revv G3. I play songs where I need both lower and higher gain.
Thanks Mason, I've just purchased this fantastic pedal and it's everything I hoped for. Any chance that you can put together a clip with it and the Ultraphonix mkII as I think it would be a perfect match, thank you
can't decide how to spend my hard earned dollars for my tone - SSS, or SSS SRV? can you do everything an SSS can and more with the SRV? thanks to anyone who answers!
Hi, tyler mark! Thanks for your message, hope you're well and safe. The SSS SRV has extended top end, additional tone shaping options, and is a more touch sensitive "amp in a box" compared to the SSS (which is still wonderful). Not everyone wants/needs the second channel and the additional switches and possibilities of the SRV. Can't go wrong with either. Please contact us direct with other questions as you have them! Crazy question but, would this work OK into the front end of a "D" style amp? I'm using a Glaswerks with a Skyliner voicing and would like to use this pedal to get more of a SSS tone.
Hi, Philip! Thanks for your message, hope you're well. Happy New Year! The pedals is high quality and designed to interface with all amps. The question as to whether it'll alter the response of your amp to be in line with a SSS (per your ears) is subjective and something I can't answer here. The beauty of ordering from Sweetwater is that you have an evaluation period where you can try the pedal with your gear and your hands to see how it responds. It may still prove useful even if it doesn't clone the D-style amps of legend. Please contact us direct with other questions as you have them! Robert Williams, Senior Sweetwater Sales Engineer, (800) 222-4700 ext. 2371, robert_williams@sweetwater.com
Certainly there are many great SRV players...perhaps he will demo one independently in the future if there are any remaining. Remember this is a limited release for the time being, approximately 500 units made.
Hi, Jayden! Thanks for your message, hope you're well and safe. Cool gear with a few possibilities: Before the Iridium allows you to pre-EQ the "amps", could be an always on or as a "boost channel"; after the drives as a tone shaper or before as a cascade for more drive flavors/textures. No right or wrong, unlikely to have a "bad" result. It's really about what your ears and hands say is best. Experiment and have fun! Please contact us direct with other questions as you have them! Unfortunately. And I'm certainly not a fan of brigading, and faceless internet pile on's. Also, this isn't to say that Mason shouldn't have opportunity to shake that rap, and earn the gear community's trust once again. But as it stands, his reputation still precedes itself to some degree. It's probably not the best idea for him to play "I fooled you" games in his demo/promotional videos for the foreseeable future.
Hello Mason. I'm french. When will this pedal reach Thomann, your dealer in Europe? talking Cristal clear tone, wich is the best between the SSS and the SSS SRV ??? It would be so great if it could be around for Christmas. The tones are to die for, you nailed it !
What's the difference between the grey Steel String Supreme and this SSS SRV version or for that matter the UltraPhonix Mk2? They all seem to do the same thing how do they differentiate? The SSS & SRV both look like they have the same controls albeit the SRV has little knobs on the bottom half. The SRV is black and the SSS is grey and the same price. The UltraPhonix Mk2 $50 cheaper. How and why would I choose one over the other. Is there one that can do the job of all three?
Hello and thanks for your message, hope you're well and safe. The SSS SRV has extended top end, additional tone shaping options, and is a more touch sensitive "amp in a box" compared to the SSS. Not everyone wants/needs the second channel and the additional switches and possibilities of the SRV. For a lot of players they're "always on" pedals. Hm. Most pedal makers would not brag nor market their stuff based on how high they go for on the used market. I like Mason, but I think that was unnecessary.
Thomas, the intent was to give context for why it was reissued in the SSS format. Prices had gotten out of control and there was a lot of demand to bring it back from our customers.
Or.. Maybe Mason is implying not to over pay for the old stuff when you can be buying the same pedal in an updated more versatile version for nearly half the cost. A SRV glass “half full” tone.
Thomas - it was just context for why we re-release of this product in the SSS format. The used prices on the version released in 2018 were out of control and and more than double what the original MSRP was. Many of our customers requested we re-issue this Slight Return Version since 2018.
