This is such a tragic story, I had so much hope for his survival. The fact that they finally got him out after he'd already passed is gut-wrenching and has me feeling like I should've helped, even though I obviously couldn't have. To think his body would then be used as an ornament for a money-hungry degenerate is also incredibly frustrating and disrespectful. I hope he finally found peace in the end, and it's a pity there wasn't more time for him.

I think if time travel were to EVER be a thing someday, it should be used to alter past events for a happier ending. Like, go back in time with modern day / sci-fi equipment, save Floyd, then leave a letter or something to make sure that the time travellers in this new timeline would have an incentive to take the original's place to avoid a paradox. But even without the fantasy of a piece of equipment that may never exist, at least Floyd got out of the cave and got a proper burial after so long, so it's not a complete victory but not a complete loss either.

He didn't eat or drink for days, so he probably peed on himself and I don't think he could have pooped. Because the way he was, the pooped wouldn't be able to come out, and if it did, it would be pushed back inside him, or liquid form. But, he also didn't eat or drink, so he probably could not pee or poop. He also definitely became super skinny, because his brain would have to eat his muscles and fat in order to survive as long as it can. He also sweat and cried probably too, so his body ran out of water. That is how he could have died. Plus the hallucinations, the negativity, the nightmares, the lack of food and water, the lack of light, the lack of other humans, the lack of air, and the lack of strength.

When my family and I went to Mammoth Cave National Park in the 90s and got to go on some of the cave tours there, we actually saw a presentation on this very incident and being a little kid a the time I didn't really absorb all the information about it and all I remember about it was a man dies while being trapped in Sand Cave. This harrowing story is not only a prime example of man's determination to save someone they care about even if the odds are highly stacked against them, but also highlights man's disgusting habit of exploitation. In May of 2014 I went back to the park, this time with a friend, and we walked out onto this board walk and at the end of it, was the entrance to Sand Cave and I was quite surprised at how small the entrance was, so you could really get a great idea of how narrow it was. I would say that the real mvp's of this story were Floyd's brother Homer, Miller, Burdon, and Floyd's friend Gerald. What a tragic yet interesting story.

A lot of humans are just sick, vile, and disgusting beings, who do not deserve life whatsoever. I've seen Man In Cave over at least 5 times, so coming into this watching it from someone else's eyes is always interesting. I've always seen this little anecdote from odd us history as a way to represent the duality of man, and how we both have the capacity to be cruel and selfish, but also how there are men who are honorable and selfless and willing to do whatever to save a single man. This was my first time hearing of the story and it's still amazing to watch even now.

If so many people hadn't clustered at this location from the beginning, doing all the things like trampling about and making fires, they might have had more time to figure out what to do or even think "maybe we should ask Floyd what's on the other side of the hole he's in, maybe we could come from the other side." Without that cave-in happening five days in they might have had more of a shot to work things out.

There were many other ways it could have gone. If more than two guys had the nerve to go in there when the cave was still stable they could have probably just dug him out like his brother was trying. If that guy had been allowed his second rope pull after Miller had been halfway dug out he probably could have pulled him out (though Miller might not have survived the injuries he'd have gotten pulling him out, but he died of exposure anyway so) if the Governor had gotten involved even a few days earlier and they managed to dig from above sooner they could have gotten to him before he died. It's really tragic, but hindsight I guess.

This was such a different video for Ryan to do but I actually kind of liked it. We had a little bit history in reason why not to go into a cave in tight spaces and yes I have claustrophobia so I would never do this, but in the end it tells us to treat life and treat dead bodies in a respectful way. All right Ryan I’m gonna head out bye dude.

I’m pretty sure the reason people cave dive, and this doesn’t apply to everyone, is a phenomenon called The call of the Abyss.
It has something to do with a natural instinct / urge to understand the unknown. People go into the tiny caves to understand what is down there, and sometimes just to get the thrill of exploring the unknown.
I personally don’t understand why people enjoy it, but if they do, then they do.

    Huh, wendigoon.
Edit: I literally screamed when he showed just how long and deep the cave was.
Edit 2: I’m glad he got out of the cave even after death, he’s at peace, and the cave lost, that’s all that matters to me.

Imagine almost going to heaven then get stopped by the Angels, then they pull you harshly into the Hell's entrance.
When you screaming and asking of what sin that you did, they just answer,
"You help killing a man, by standing and sitting still, only thinking about how you can make fortune out of his missery"

Thanks again Ryan for being a voice of reason and relate to how frustrated each drawback kept coming.

Once again we are presented with the case of desperation that picks away on morality. Like how can you defile a person so much after their death? I like these reaction videos so much, I also think it serves as a good pause from gaming if that takes a lot or if there isn't much exciting options.
