If you come over this comment, i was just at the Kansas city concert for KoRn in a checkered sweater in a KC hat, and you gave my little brother next to me one of your sticks. It was one of the best moments in my life and my brothers to get one of your sticks. You got me started in drumming and are one of my ideals. Thank you.

Ray, you humbled me once at MI during an open house. I was cocky and you knew it. Then you brought me up and crushed me in front of the group and my wife. I’ve resented you for it but it was a gift and best thing for me. I’m still trying to work through why I’m like I am but it takes time and it’s complicated. Thanks.

Never ceases to amaze me how quite literally KXM does sound exactly like what most would expect a true supergroup of individuals to sound like.. I hear KoRn/Ray chops meets Lynch Mob meets KingsX. As a guitar player foremost I could hear George Lynch straight away when the song started he's one of my all-time influences and one of the true hard rock guitar Gods of his era (great to hear another monster player the way underappreciated Jake E Lees name pop up also, you da man Ray!).. Saw you in 2009 in Cardiff, Wales, UK and as much as I was a fan of KoRn on the whole as a band you stole the show entirely, been a fan ever since! Technically superb yet tasteful and never neglecting those old-school fundamentals such as groove, flow etc. A consummate professional and a damn cool guy all round. Much appreciation Brother from Wales 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿

Ray, I'm a long time fan. 10:47 this advice is GOLD! Thank you for emphasizing it. I'm from the same generation as you , and I still use old school networking...nothing beats it. I have my permanent gig with a country singer, and was able to pick up subbing for another act on a fairly regular basis. Both gigs I got through networking...being out, about, introducing myself and generally trying to be a decent person. In addition to learning the material and being competent and passionate about it all. Its a great feeling to have someone call me and ask me if I was available for work. To all the new players...pay attention! Ray you are an incredible player, and I appreciate the inspiration!

Great way to describe what playing the instrument you choose does to us , even if you never made it , even if you have never done a live gig ,none of that matters when we are lost in playing our music , I've played the drums for 34/5 years and the feeling when my playing is on fire and I'm living the moment as I'm playing it is just utter bliss , nothing comes close , no drug natural , synthetic or otherwise can't even get close to it , Ive spent years gigging in many different band , no major label success fortunately I played in established bands who just needed a new drummer ,so I got paid for the most part, earning a living while playing is amazing in itself , especially when I'm playing a cover song that I like ,when I tell myself " wow I'm getting paid for this " it's such a brilliant happy feeling , imagine how good it must feel to be ray in such a big band .
Musicians understand eachother without needing a single word , when you connect with musicians like that it's very very special and should be cherished .

does he play for anyone else? Why not just start with "Ray is still..." I can see a "even though this, this" motive but it that is not how it comes out. How are you talking to? Him? Why not share some of the golden words that moved you. I thought his chirps about handedness after the first song was huge. I never think about which hand or foot to start with first. In fact, I made a point when starting to play the same parts of a song, after learning it, with the my hands or feet trading parts when possible. I tried to confuse myself. It made playing in a more structured way, way easier. That and relentless repetition. I'm a lefty in every thing but my drum set has no handedness nor do I think it is useful to need to worry about which hand to use vs what note needs hearing...

    Hello from South Africa, Ray.
I felt the need to tell you that I, as a long-time metal-head, grew up listening to the first Sepultura , Deicide, Carcass, Morbid Angel (etc) albums in the early 90's.
Anything that was heavier and faster than the last band was the be-all and end-all when it came to drumming(at the time).
Things progressed (as they do) and after about 10 years of listening (and jamming) to all this death metal, I felt as though I wasn't being challenged anymore. Things began to feel a little "stale" and I had heard so many blast-beats that they sort of merged into a kinda "static'.
In searching for something challenging, I found all the proggy type of metal like Tool, Dream Theater, Between the Buried and Me etc. and this was AMAZING!
Anyhow, I had never really latched on to Korn until much later along my musical journey, but when I finally did....Oh shit! Haha!
I understand I was a little late to this party but I must tell you that you single-handedly saved my love and passion for drumming.
Seeing you, in 2021, releasing this type of "online clinic" is nothing short of absolutely LEGENDARY!
I am particularly impressed with your attitude and approach to these important aspects of drumming.
Thank you VERY MUCH for making this video; I've never seen much "back-stage" stuff with you but this is INCREDIBLE!
PS: Nowadays, I still love metal and the more extreme music but I really enjoy the stuff that throws you for a loop and keeps you guessing what's coming next! :)
Thanks, I'll make sure to buy this album for sure!

Ray is such a great and humble drummer.
Towards the end of the first song he does a cool little high hat groove.
Those were the same kind of grooves David used to play, and then the songs would fade out.
I love how he uses his technical ability to serve the history of the band and their sound.

Would like to start off by saying, thank you. For the music you write and play and also for taking the time to let us in. I love love love videos like this. It not only gives us an inside look as to the journey that an artist takes/has taken, it shows up that the artist is a person just as we are. Seeing someone as human, to me, is better than seeing them as something they are not. Again, thank you, sir for the music and your time. Please, take care.

Man, you are awesome! And definitely you have your own voice one the instrument - when I first listen Johnathan Davis' song "Walk on by", I didn't know who's song is it, it was just a radio stream I listened, but at the first few bars I thought "Oh, is it Ray on drums?". I am into Korn and Ray's drumming for a years but I didn't even know Johnathan has his own solo project, and didn't hear any of his songs.
