this dude is one of the greatest allready...best thing that could happen to KoRn
Not only a great player as you mentioned, but i guarantee he would cool as fuck to go grab a plate of food with and just bullshit and to hear his stories, he tells stories in a way that keeps youre attention non stop, yeah id say he would be a great friend to have..
@@dennyramsey8774 'grab a plate of food'
Agreed 100
I get what you're saying but had Ray not gotten an opportunity to showcase his talent with a huge band like KoRn, most of us would have no idea who he is.
I often think about the people out there with tremendous talent who never get chances like thses.
Both are very lucky to have each other.
Checkout Army Of Anyone Korn not Bad The David Era Was Intense but That’s Just History Rock on
This dude deserves all the accolades he’s getting. He’s a great musician.
korn, luckiest band in the world..... love ray
I just discovered Ray as an extraordinary drummer some months ago...it turns out that he is also an extraordinary nice and wise person
I'm convinced he's my new favorite drummer. He's just so human and so down to earth. AND HE TOTALLY GETS THE CURRICULUM STILL
Ray is a fantastic drummer! My №1
innusian phenomenal drummer
innusian how did you get the number 1 thing to show like you did?
I played Luzier’s Vic Firth sticks for years, exclusively, before I ever knew who he was. Then I watched him play live for the first time and realized this guy is truly a musician’s drummer
🤘😁🥁
Ray Luzier is awesome! So is Billy Sheehan!
@38:29 - Broken stick recovery, so cool!
Ray is a beast! Very inspirational, awesome explanation of breaking beats down to something that sounds good. Hope more drummers, bands & musicians take this approach to melody, rhythm and riffs!
Saw Ray play with Korn live and it was so amazing if you get a chance go see him play live.... you will be blown away!!
he puts in 110% all night every time
Those Pearl's sound amazing
Watched the whole thing, don't know shit about drumming, such an awesome person, Korn ftw
Georges Westhead I did the same. I'm a guitarist but Ray is mesmerising to watch and listen to
nice to hear from you both that you don't play drums but watched this video. big props.
Dude is a beast!!!
Rare to hear a drummer tell you to NOT practice to a click (granted he said only 30% of the time). The point he made, that you might get in a situation where the band/producer doesn't want click, was very valuable. I am pretty heavily dependent on click tracks now haha
+Poppa Punker I´ve heard that often when it comes to practicing new rudiments or grooves to not use a metronome. Later on while "fine tuning" your skills a click might be useful, but all in all I do also use a metronome. Cheers.
They call me the human metronome. Really loud watch....
I'm so glad that this guy(Ray)is finally getting the notoriety he deserves.
Saw Korn at Pain in the grass in 2017. Ray was on one that night!! His mini solo just dropped ur jaw!! Ray is one of the G.O.A.T. Drummers.
Jesus... Ray just keeps getting better!
He should do a David Lee Roth Special. I could listen hours to these stories!
Ray Luzier so down to earth and has made it because he never gave up his drive to play...!
I dont know why but at this age i become a Ray Luzier fanboy. When he plays ,when he speaks im getting amazed all the time
Never used to be impressed but after listening to him speak at these clinics I'm becoming more and more of a fan!
I performed with Ray in Vegas
With a Disco band the boogie nights
Even playing disco ray was sick
Wishing you all the best Ray
Not only a cool dude but a monster drummer. I wanted to go to MI back in 80 to 82 but joined the Navy instead. Really had no choice but my point is that I didn't know how for-real MI was and they were brand new. Low and behold this is a product of that great institution. I would send my kid there in a heart beat if they didn't want to go to college. Also, one last thing, to go to a place you've never been too and try and make it in the music business takes a lot of balls, drive, determination, and a lot of hard work. Way to go Ray!
Wasted your talent..
@@geddyleesowlnose no sir he didn't waste his talent. Jose M Tamez served our great country so thank you sr for your service, very honorable!
I just learned ray graduated from here and this is exactly the school I want to go to for Music🥺
Silvera wanted the attention of the front man and became a proper diva, I'm glad korn found Ray, (Silvera is almost begging to be asked back, I hope he is never given the chance)
Ray is perfect for korn.
about the Metal I don’t think Dave will be asked back after suing them a bit ago. Ray earned that gig and he’s a monster behind the kit!
wow! a real role model. you're the man, ray.
Ray Luzier didn’t join Korn .....Korn joined Ray Luzier 😎
His stamina and flexibility and techniques and technological ability
Is among the best iv seen
This has obviously come from years years and years of proper training and mkst if all old fashioned HARD WORK!!!
Go Ray **********************************
great performance and infos from Ray, but man...Stewart is the man, he puts all these great artists on MI stage in order to give huge advices to the guys-
Given that Ray graduated from MI it's a freebie but other than that I definitely agree! Ray is a beast
He is amazing... so musical and intense!
Awesome drummer. I'm a gardener. Just planted 1000 seeds & propagated a few hundred plants as I heard this. Inspired.
If I wasn't a lifelong Korn fan, I'd think Ray was always a member. They all go together like peanut butter and jelly.
He's alright I guess. :) Seriously though, holy shit!!
Excelent drummer, and Billy Sheehan is an Alien musician!! :)
Ray is a god
Love watching his interviews.
His groove is amazing ! Love Portnoy, Mangini, Peart, Carey and, sadly since he passed, also watched a few vids of Jordison. Now Luzier. Really my taste of groove.
Saw Ray with Army of Anyone at HOB Myrtle Beach and was blown awaaaaayyyyy. My favorite drummer.
Ray if you couldn't play drums i'm sure you would be great in comedy!
What a humble man! He’s the kind of guy I’d love to invite over for dinner and hear all his amazing stories!
BEAST!
Ray is an absolute living LEGEND!
Such an amazing badass drummer!!!🔥🔥🔥🤘🏼🤘🏼
Ray knew that it wasn't what you put into KoRn... it's what the fans get out of it that's more important...it took him a while for the fans to accept him after silviera left...KoRn gave his playing another dimension... again... it's what you get out of it.... you can have all the techniques in the world but nothing matches originality...
👊😷👌🥁
I went to MI for a tour and I found out that every month is 3000 dollars a month. Thats expensive.
Jesus GOD! This dude is ridiculous. I thought Mike Portnoy was the best. I guess all drummers put their own vibe into it and make it their own though. No point comparing them lol.
Yeah its all different styles so its a preference but they both are really great but im more of a Danny Carrey fan of playing.
Funny, korn based their music on playing simple n less then gets a dude on that overplays. Is it a balance, curse, or all that they had?
He cracks me up! Love this guy!
Never heard Korn, but that guy catched my ear on KXM. Brillant work, brillant drummer.
Ray is awesome but KXM as a whole kinda sucks
Teh riff in that first song is just Stockholm Syndrome by MUSE ?
Love that Army of Anyone album.
Should make another.
you don't have to be on drugs to be good at shit
57:50, the cymbal stand goes down! Way to keep going!
I didn't know how much David Lee Roth sounded like Rick from Rick and Morty LMAO
Also like John Gruden lol.
Substance and style at it's best!! Wow such amazing talent Ray and Billy!
.... My neighbor was Paul Gilbert.... Holy crap! Whats in the well water out in the PA farm country?!
Musicianium
Best drummer in the fn world!!!
still watching this great video in 2019!!
That Sabian Ozone cymbal is mesmerizing when hit
Ray seems like an absolute great human and cares about these students, telling them he barely got by grade wise but telling these kids dont let the pressure they will undoubtedly run into not stop them from pushing towards there big picture, advise such as that has no price, the know he is telling them the truth about it, hell he could have went out there and just bragged it up about how great he and korn is the whole time he was there and instead he told them as honest as he could based on what he went thru and not on what he heard in stories,, alot of people in public talk bad about hard rock bands and calling them devil worshipping people that only care about fucking and getting high,, well ray is a good dude by any standard, there is alot of these guys that play in very hard metal bands that do more to keep these young kids sticking to there goals and not stray to far or to long from it they do alot more good than they get credit for..sorry for ranting.
WOW! Just WOW!
LMAO @ 1:10:50-1:11:10
Long way from David Silveria to Ray Luzier, but have to give a credit to Ray, adding more life to Korn's drums, but we can argue about their styles!...
(Best part 1:10:50) :D
teaaquinn 100%
Ray is a more technically sound drummer with more talent. David was more funky
Sean Raden rays so much funkier but I agree with the rest
This is cool but the volume is really low and i've got my computer on full volume and youtube on full too.
Seen ray in the crowd at the Godsmack concert in Nashville ...4/16/19.....spotted him right away...got a few pictures....
A fucking beast on drums, absolute beast.
I met him wen I was 4 and now I am 10
Fuse Caleb where
Who’s watching this in july 2019?
......
Who gives a fuck
he lost the stick, switched it to the other hand to keep playing , grabbed another stick and kept going like nothing happened . I dont care if hes not the original drummer...Hes a GOD in my book. this dude doesn't miss a beat and still says. " Awe damn, i fucked up " WHEN, WHERE, HOW !!! you played it perfectly. what a great video!
Excellent video with excellent information, but I literally had to download it and run it through a compressor in order to not have to constantly increase and decrease the volume between the dialogue and the playing.
@57:51 JOJOOJOJJOOJOJ VIVA LA BATERIA 😍😍😍
the epitome of overplaying.
I don't understand how drummers hurt themselves, you let the sticks bounce on the skins and you don't have hit the cymbals hard to make a loud noise. I've been drumming for 40 years no problem.
It was nice seeing Ray play something off of the Untitled record.
where is Les Claypool when you need him ?
The new music generation is SO BORING! If I ever got in a room with a star drummer, it was like a howling party! These kids barely could ever slap their hands together to clap. The drummer for KORN comes to do a clinic, and there are crickets. I just do not get it! At my age, I’d still out scream them.
Education more is more after my New Year’s gig headed home to Allen Texas recouped Sunday Monday morning 730 at behind the drums study practice FEEL my instrument the drums I’m grateful and thankful so when I step in to study out with the pros same page exciting as a live gig and the arenas but yet families first love chuck
And I'm not preaching to anyone by any means but this Guy is almost to good to be true
And listen young people He does NOT DO DRUGS
I REPEAT HE DOES NOT DO DRUGS
You will never get any where close to being that good if you do use DRUGS
So Don't Do it
And GOD BLESS
For me right now this guy is the best drummer in the world. He's got so much feel it's amazing to watch.
I agree. I can see he was born to do this. He's a natural, but he's also obsessed. You can't be great at anything unless you're obsessed.
I've never played the drums but I love watching him play.
I lol at his impression of DLR, he said David told him "Listen kid, the people are paying to see you too so put on a show"
36:11 I'm just impressed every time I see a fantastic drummer doing drum stick flips and the way you are able to incorporate it in the middle of the playing 🥁🤘🏻 I remember that in 2004 I saw Korn at the Roskilde Festival with their former drummer David Silveria. And it was a great experience, but hey Ray Luzier is a gift for the band and a technically more accomplished drummer or he has become. And he is one of my top 5 drummers in the world where
: Dave Grohl
: John Bonham
: Mike Portnoy
: Neil Peart
are also on the list 🤘🏻❤️
Started down the Kings X road which led me to KXM with Ray Luzier and also Kings X Ty Tabor's solo work.
his face expressions are so funny when he goes hard at it
its called soul (:
oh ok
Man. That audience is pretty lame. They are musicians?!!
I've never played an instrument, let alone the drums and I'm in awe of Ray's talent!these.
40:25 Anyone know the name of this song?
Ever be
Congratz man, you obviously deserve it :)
13:13 One dog in the audience is a KoRn fan.
I wanna see a ray luzier and morgan rose battle real bad now
hahahahha Throwing shade at mike portnoy hahahha
this is how you should play Bass to hang out with Ray? Jesus Fuck ! LOL
That's a ton of click on that kick. Great drummer tho
YouthDrummer what does that mean, "click on the kick?"
The kick drum is usually mixed with clicky sound to get definition, but this is a bit much IMO
Sounds like the bass is triggered clicks tracks I use are in my ear pieces.
So he is saying he sets up and plays the drums wrong but it sounds so right to me.
bass player shows us how to keep up with fast music and still only use fingers
And miss like 3000 notes
So few drummers with the technical ability he has maintain such feel and groove at the same time.
I really enjoyed this clinic.
Killer!! I like that first song 🎵 His drumming makes that song!
I've read the comment about Dave Grohl being the nicest guy in rock n roll. Dave is cool.
But, that being said, Dave's not alone up there. Ray's bumpin' shoulders with him.
Eres grande Ray 🤟
what are his cymbals models?
Great interview. I could’ve done without the David Silverman dig though. That wasn’t very classy.
Hey Ray you love those canadian cymbals they are the best don’t you think👏👏🤟🏻🤟🏻🥁🇨🇦
