We didn’t want to bother him with signatures, he was very cool , very gracious, exactly the person you’d think he is.
Maynard’s done plenty of interviews over the course of his career, always explaining his influences and the ideas behind his lyrics etc. what more do you want lmao, Adam though yes he is definitely the least vocal of the group but has done plenty of interviews as well, to be fair from his very first interview he said “I hate talking” so he’s honest about his position with it, but over time he has come out of his shell quite a bit

That is a really good example of what Danny seems to be like. That video of him playing with the daughter's band at her school for a talent show or Christmas play or something and he was totally awkward and like someone's goofy dad playing with some 12 yr old kids in front of all the parents, he was a 12 year old kid again except that he's really the best working drummer of our time and one of the best drummers ever. You could definitely tell Adam was not comfortable around people, and thats who I was there to see the most, but they still came out after the warm up session (which was by far one of the coolest things ive ever seen) and took a pic. I did two VIP shows. Got a fist bump from Danny when he saw my DC shirt, and Adam busting my chops when he wanted to talk about local comic book shops but I said I was from NJ (we were in Biloxi MS).

I'm 25, became a late Tool fan in '22. I wish I could have seen them in their early album phases, but I have already seen them twice this year and thinking about finishing the third leg in Europe. They won my heart and really have helped me through a lot in my life already. This band, should always be protected, at all costs by the Tool Army. They are just 4 geniuses. ❤️
I thought the same, being 38 and first hearing a tool record in '05... By that time they had already evolved twice and were finishing off the 10,000 days record. Being able to go back and find the earlier records and then a copy of salival was a great journey into how much a single band can "write", rather than producing the same sound over and over.
I seen them on the Aniema tour. This is Beck with Menard wore a blue speedo and painted his entire body blue. Of course, he’s well known for that now, but at the time it wasn’t such a famous singer. Back then I felt like I was seeing Pink Floyd or something like that. I knew I was witnessing something amazing.
@@DWatters-kp9wz wow you are very lucky, I love when people share their experiences with this band especially with previous legends that unfortunately have passed away. If I had a chance to go back in time, it will be definitely an Ænema concert hehe. If you go to their concert now, I can guarantee you, it will blow Pink Floyd and turn it into Blue Maynard 😂
Always been a big fan of Danny and his stellar playing. Love to watch him play and he always seems so happy when he’s behind the kit. And although I’ve never met him I’m a bigger fan of the person he is. Through numerous interviews and such he just comes across as such a genuinely kind, likeable and humble guy.
Danny is the most incredible rock drummer alive today. Ever since I got my first copy of Undertow, every release since, I get excited to get my hands on them, so I can jump in, and just listen to the things he's done on the new album. Incredible stuff, and a true inspiration, but most importantly, he is a really nice and genuine person.
Tool's my favorite band, Danny's my favorite drummer. Haven't had the opportunity to see the band live so I've only ever seen videos of their performances. Danny always looks like he absolutely loves what he does and I think that makes his drumming so much more special. And he seems like a real nice guy.
Danny has to be a nicest happiest most humble musician I’ve seen ever.. really gracious and give it up to modern drummer for another great rig rundown!! 👍🙏
Nothing makes a music artist more happier in an interview then asking about their craft and contributions rather then the same pretentious cliche questions they get asked in most interviews. Danny is such a humble and down to earth guy that's a pleasure to listen to both conversely and musically. Tool is very much the sound and success of Danny's drum work on their albums and especially live. He's not only able to replicate what he does on the records while playing live but manages to add better elements that compliments the song even better then it does in the studio version. Salival is a great example of that as is various live shows on RUclips. May Danny's work live on forever ✌🏽❤️
Came here from the Justin Chancellor rig rundown on another channel. For a couple of superheroes Danny and Justin are two of the most humble musical Gods I have ever seen. And what a rhythm section they make! Awesome video!
Thank you Danny for everything you've ever done for music. I don't know where'd Id be without Tool. Has helped me get through the darkest times and still continues to do so.
Been a huge fan since I was 13. Saw him live in 2001 during Lateralus. He has been my #1 influence with drumming. Seeing his kit and how he talks since that time and even before; he has always been so humble and doesn't show an ego. His kit has just grown more complex and unique. Not many other drummers, if any at all, do any unique setups like this anymore. Almost a last of his breed type. We love you Danny Carey. Thank you for the years of inspiration, bringing my spirits up when the mood was low. Spiral out and As Above So Below 777.
Met DC after a Pygmy Love Circus show in Seattle, years ago. He was very cool and down to earth. Signed my Pygmy Love Circus poster, shook hands and he answered some of my questions about his kit. He’s been my favorite drummer for decades and I’m honored to have met him and talked a few minutes. 🤘🏽🤘🏽
I'm not only a fan of TOOL, but am a massive admirer of Danny's playing. So talented and disciplined, humble and real. His playing brings it's very own melodic/percussive orchestration...I haven't had this much RESPECT for a drummer since Neil Peart. Thanks for this rig rundown.
We saw them in Birmingham AL a month or so ago and he came out after the intermission and just played by himself drum solo style which led into Chocolate Chip Trip. Started off on that giant gong. Even just warming it up was amazing. The pings coming from it sounded so crisp. The crowd went nuts when he finally hit it full on. What a sound! It filled the arena. You could tell you were in the presence of greatness. The fact he is so humble too. What an inspiration.
Doesn’t seem like he does much of this stuff so this is *very* special. So in-depth, so fascinating. Truly a one of one kit in totality. Thank you for the video-it’s much appreciated.
He's been my favorite drummer since the 90s. And when I started playing drums in the very late 90s, he was just a wizard. But I slowly got better and kept chipping away at a Tool song or 2. Sober was of course my first song and getting the relatively simple open hi-hat, bass, snare grove blew open the doors for what I could start doing. Years later I'm playing Schism and 46&2 and Eulogy. I'm never going to touch how good he is, but he taught me how to play independently and finding those little groves that I hear from the guitar and bass. I went form playing guitar since I was 9 years old to being a drummer and being in 3 bands at the same time just because people liked what I was doing. And I have Danny to thank for all of it. He opened my mind and taught me to play in a way that was simply unique. All hail the octopus!
The God of drums! Just saw this tour(9th time seeing tool) a few weeks ago and as always they blew the roof off the venue. Rosetta Stoned live was an experience I cannot describe…you just had to be there.
danny is always so cordial and nice in interviews.

Man, Danny Carey is not only one of the best and most awesome drummers of all time, he's also one of the best and most awesome human beings of all time! Love how nice and down to earth he is, while clearly having transcended to superhuman state in his craft. ❤
its so amazing how dedicated to detail he is. most drummers care about cymbal series and shell material, but him having so many true custom pieces where hes being selective about precise thickness of the shells and the hammering on the cymbals is amazing. takes a special type of drummer to have a kit that huge and use every inch of it. what a legend
Danny is such a living legend...TOOL is my all-time favorite band. What an incredible privilege to hear about his setup and equipment. Everything is a literal piece of art all on its own. I'm overwhelmed with the beauty and his raw talent and creativity. Thank you so much for allowing us to spend time with him....great job.
Been a tool fan since 1990 and watched them live a few weeks ago in Ontario California, danny carey is unbelievable to watch live... i mean i seen tool and rage several times over the year's but one thing in particular is Danny's kit has grown over the year's and he has added so many layers to his drumming... so we are getting the best version of him and watching a masterpiece all on one... unbelievable when he did his chocolate chip dip solo ... just wow.
Wow what can I say. Thank you David, Danny, Joe and everyone else who made this possible. This is an unreal insight into the Danny Carey office. Such an inspiration absolutely mind blowing!!!!!
Incredible guy, incredible musician. I'm 59 and have been listening to most of the drummers everyone else here would recognize - Peart, Palmer, Moon, Bozzio, etc. - since I was 9 or 10. Of all the greats, no one moves me quite like Danny Carey. The emotions his music elicits in me are unmatched by any of the others. I hope he senses the gratitude we all have for his talent and efforts. Drum tech nightmare, though. Wow. .
That kit is 1 of 1 and Danny is 1 of 1. Decades of drum mastery, still evolving and creating new sounds and ideas. We need a new word to describe him, drummer just doesn't seem like enough.
his dedication to the craft is inspiring. he effortlessly transcends labels or categorization without it ever being the least bit avant-garde or experimental. A true innovator.
It’s so amazing to hear him talk and he was such good friends with Neil Peart and Stuart Copeland as well as Terry Bozzio it’s crazy how all of them are so connected, relationship wise and then to hear Danny talk about his drums it almost sounds like Neil honestly, in a lot of ways
Wow that's an incredible rig. Thanks for this great run down/interview w/ Danny. TOOL became one of my favorite bands since my older neighbor played Under Tow for me in 93. I was 12🤘🏼
Danny’s talent and attention to detail is off the charts, not to mention he’s true gentleman. Easy to see his passion shine through the music. I’ve seen Tool 3 times now. Amazing concert. Amazing sound. Danny is a class act and a fan favorite. Great interview
Somebody should ask Danny where he has parked the spaceship. The part where he says that that's his face no the side of the tom, and you see an indian playing something that enters Danny's aura and body and goes to Earth and then the astrological designs on the mandala pads. This is just out of this world. I am not getting over this kit. And his humility : "Thank you for having me". Thank you Danny for allowing us to witness whatever you channel into the music. This is just too much ....

This is what life looks like when you truly find your calling and become the best at it.
The best drummer around by far. His approach and the parts he writes are insane.
Agreed 👍🏽. King Crimson and other drummers are the reason why Danny is an amazing drummer 🥁.
Smart and humble. Recipe for a great life, tbh.
Been waiting since '96 for something like this. Thanks to Danny and MD for bringing us this insider masterpiece!
Saw y'all in January in Biloxi & it was like an outer body experience! just simply amazing! 🤘
Thank you Modern Drummer for featuring Danny Carey's rig! Danny will be a Modern Drummer Hall Of Fame drummer in the near future. 🥁🔥🤟🏻
This has gotta be one of the best videos on RUclips, Danny is the goat
Pneuma is around 30 millions views. But this one should be the follow up.
It seems like a great companion video to the Pneuma vid, considering the setup is very similar
I’ve only watched 5 minutes and this kit is insane. 🤯
I would argue their craft and contributions are the cliché questions they're constantly being asked.
@@Shadovox not really, it's the gossip, personal shit and idiot non researched questions that are cliche and redundant.
"It's sounds so great"
Danny: points "Good monitors"
Such humbleness.
Absolutely the best drummer on this planet!!! Danny you're the best bro!!!
Skinny Puppy for the WIN!! Thanks Danny
Came here from the Justin Chancellor rig rundown on another channel. For a couple of superheroes Danny and Justin are two of the most humble musical Gods I have ever seen. And what a rhythm section they make! Awesome video!
Amazing. What an absolutely brilliant drummer. Humble guy and a true legend. Thanks for the vid!
Thank you Danny for everything you've ever done for music. I don't know where'd Id be without Tool. Has helped me get through the darkest times and still continues to do so.
Danny is just such an inspiring human being. His last statement he uses to thank his techs. What an awesome human.
Lateralus tour in 2001 was my first concert ever at 15 years old. Legitimately the best concert I've ever been to.
Such a humble person. Doesn't fully take credit for all of his musical brilliance, always deferring to people supporting his craft.
How long have people been waiting for this!? I hardly listen to tool and i still have been waiting for a rig rundown for most my life
The humblest of a man. So much respect for Danny.
You can hear how passionate he is about his craft 🥺 Best drummer ever 🤘
We saw them in Birmingham AL a month or so ago and he came out after the intermission and just played by himself drum solo style which led into Chocolate Chip Trip. Started off on that giant gong. Even just warming it up was amazing. The pings coming from it sounded so crisp. The crowd went nuts when he finally hit it full on. What a sound! It filled the arena. You could tell you were in the presence of greatness. The fact he is so humble too. What an inspiration.
What a legend! He’s always so humble and down to earth. Such an inspiration to me and so many drummers.
10:00 skinny puppy - what an incredible, out of nowhere name drop.
The best drummer in the world❤
Yes, when I saw that Rack i just knew Ceven Key would get a shout out, that whole setup is off the charts.
What a genuinely kind person
This is probably the best thing I’ve seen on RUclips. Dany is beyond amazing. The entire Tool band is beyond amazing.
Grandissimo professionista 👏👏👏👏👏👏
The God of drums! Just saw this tour(9th time seeing tool) a few weeks ago and as always they blew the roof off the venue. Rosetta Stoned live was an experience I cannot describe…you just had to be there.
danny is always so cordial and nice in interviews.
Man, Danny Carey is not only one of the best and most awesome drummers of all time, he's also one of the best and most awesome human beings of all time! Love how nice and down to earth he is, while clearly having transcended to superhuman state in his craft. ❤
Danny is aaesome! Love his approach to playing drums!
its so amazing how dedicated to detail he is. most drummers care about cymbal series and shell material, but him having so many true custom pieces where hes being selective about precise thickness of the shells and the hammering on the cymbals is amazing. takes a special type of drummer to have a kit that huge and use every inch of it. what a legend
Thank you very much, always great to see and hear DC!
Such a kind and humble goat. 🤘😌
WOW very cool !!! Danny Carey one of my favorite Drummers !!!
It’s like Christmas every time a new DC video comes out ♥️
Been a tool fan since 1990 and watched them live a few weeks ago in Ontario California, danny carey is unbelievable to watch live... i mean i seen tool and rage several times over the year's but one thing in particular is Danny's kit has grown over the year's and he has added so many layers to his drumming... so we are getting the best version of him and watching a masterpiece all on one... unbelievable when he did his chocolate chip dip solo ... just wow.
Could watch Danny all day
Wow what can I say. Thank you David, Danny, Joe and everyone else who made this possible. This is an unreal insight into the Danny Carey office. Such an inspiration absolutely mind blowing!!!!!
Drum tech: “So what type of percussion sounds do you want”
Danny:”yes”
*Emperor Palpatine voice*: all of them
Incredible guy, incredible musician.
We need a new word to describe him, drummer just doesn't seem like enough.
artist?
Assholes the word is Musician with capital M
Percussionist
The glazing for Danny is insane. Calm down dude. He’s just a drummer. He’s not even the best drummer in this genre.
@@1dudecrush ugh oh, the opinion police are here. I will not calm down sir, you're going to have to arrest me.
his dedication to the craft is inspiring. he effortlessly transcends labels or categorization without it ever being the least bit avant-garde or experimental. A true innovator.
I would HATE to be this guys drum tech. Setting that thing up and tearing it down every night must be a fucking nightmare. Respect to that guy!
My favorite part of all this is how he basically has to replace every piece of the kit twice per show. What a monster!
He was just referring to the snare.
Wow that's an incredible rig. Thanks for this great run down/interview w/ Danny. TOOL became one of my favorite bands since my older neighbor played Under Tow for me in 93. I was 12🤘🏼
Danny is the man. Such a great guy!
Danny’s talent and attention to detail is off the charts, not to mention he’s true gentleman. Easy to see his passion shine through the music. I’ve seen Tool 3 times now. Amazing concert. Amazing sound. Danny is a class act and a fan favorite. Great interview
That guy is the reason I proudly play Paiste signature cymbals!
I wouldn’t be half the musician I am today if it wasn’t for this man.
That was so cool!!! Thank you Danny, what an amazing setup and damn you are one cool person, I can't begin to tell you the inspiration I get from watching and listening to anything you do, thank you sir!
If you haven't seen Tool live, you're truly missing out
13x for me and ALWAYS AMAZING!!
Seen them last show last run in Las Vegas . great seats. Epic Fantastic Legendary and just an overall awesome experience.
When I saw Tool...they were Amazing!..but it's so obvious "Danny Carry is the only fun 1 to watch"! He makes Tool!..plus there was sooo many drummers there..and I remember after the show...alot of people felt like crap! Because it almost made me quit! Lol..because he's sooo fucken good! Danny can.out play any one in the world!! Because he's the only drummer in the world that can play 9 different poly rhythms at the same f.n..time!! Your mind has to be super smart for that hard shit to.play!!
Like when Joe Perry saw Jeff Beck. "I need to go home and practice"
I've never been more bored at a concert in my life. Tool should refund my ticket
