Congrats on landing this one! Bur really, you've built a tremendous body of work with Rig Rundown and that brings with it these opportunities. Keep rollin!
Hell yes man! This is a big one. I met Justin once in their music clinic "tour" and found him to be such a lovely, kind person. I've also been a Tool fan for decades 🤘
The guys in Tool are really super nice and down to earth. I met Danny and Adam a bunch a long time ago and they were always kind and willing to talk shop. Looking forward to watching this one.

You’d be surprised at how many artists have the attitude of “I just play it, I don’t care how it works” my dad is like this, he’s one of the best guitarists I’ve ever heard and has played for 60 years and doesn’t even like changing his own strings and thinks I’m crazy for changing pots or pickups. I thought it was cool seeing how involved and enthusiastic Justin was on the technical side

The only thing better than Justin and this interview is the look on Chris' face the whole time. Like a kid at Christmas! Absolutely priceless. So happy you guys could make this happen. Honestly, if I ever even made eye contact with anyone from Tool I would become a mute pile of fanboy goo. Good job!
Chris Kies is such a good dude. It's awesome to see people showing their excitement and humility around their heroes. Chris please always stay this way, this is what keeps music passionate and magical.
This is amazing! Thanks for sharing. As one of the first bassists on RUclips to try to show Justin’s music to the world covering Tool on bass it’s wonderful to see how much more open he is later in his career to show the secrets of his sound. From Aenema to 10k days it was always a mystery and he remained pretty mysterious about his unique sound. I spent the better part of almost 15 years trying to dial in his sound and there were a few things that were hard to replicate. I love that he is now so open to sharing….this is an amazing video that answers a few questions I still had remaining. Thank you so much for sharing!!!🙏🏻
Bro you are a RUclips legend for us Tool bass fanatics such as myself. Hope life is treating you well my friend. I was always very stoked to see new content from you cause like you said a lot of Justin’s sound was a total mystery until you started putting together videos. Not only that but you are in your own right an amazing bass player as well! Your covers were extremely well done my friend.
Does your whammy still work? mine had a faulty charger and its been dead since. Good to see you're still rocking the bottom end Brad! Old timey greets from NL.
You know the true hero here?? Chris. I cant imagine seeing tool live, let alone being in his shoes for this shoot. You served us fans so very well, and did us proud ❤️
Much like a Tool song, that 40 minutes felt like 5 minutes. I’ve spent years trying to get close to his tone and just studying him as a musician. Kick ass job, Chris. What an experience to be right there with the legend! I’ve wanted a video like this for YEARS! Huge thanks to everyone who said yes to making this a reality 🙌
To me, Justin is simply the best and most inspirational modern bassist, and the reason why I play bass... Beyond his amazing talent, Justin always seems to be a simple and humble man enjoying what he does and easy to access, which is not that common at this level of the food pyramid. How many rock stars would have rather sent their roadie (only) for this kind of interview ? Justin not only is present but also puts his technician under the spotlights... I’ve been waiting for a video on these guy for so long, I’ve been a huge Tool fan ever since I first heard them in Guitar Hero: World Tour so this is absolutely awesome. My friends and I who play in a band with (we also covered Sober at our most recent show last year, a song we’ve been holding onto since we first wanted to do it at our second gig) went to go see them back in November and it was one of the best shows I’ve ever been to (we even got to meet a gentleman who was sitting next to us that had been following Tool since 1993, which was really cool), especially since they brought out Alex Lifeson from Rush to join them for Jambi (which was our singer’s favourite Tool song) and they went into the solo section from Passage to Bangkok and we were just blown away because neither of us were even expecting to see Lifeson and it was fucking awesome. This has definitely made its place as one of my favourite RRs, fucking awesome as always guys
I wish Peter Steele would have been around long enough for you to do a Rig Rundown on his gear. He's the only other bass player with such a unique sound that almost no one can replicate.
Thank you for bringing Isis into the conversation, this band is amazing and you can see the influence Tool had on them throughout their catalog, especially on the bass.
Such an impressive interview from all three. No ego what so ever. Just respect. Awesome! Justin wasn’t in a hurry or trying to get it overbut just seemed into the interview.
I've been waiting for this for forever. They were so well prepared and open to do the thing. What a great rundown. Seeing them recently, not only is his playing but his tone is meticulous.

It’s really refreshing as an audience to listen someone talking and expressing yourself with so much emotion, clarity, confidence, authentic and full of excitement about what you have achieved. One of my bass idols! Thank you for this
.... I have been a Tool and Justin fan for a good few decades. Today I learned Justin is British. Loved his music my whole life, never heard the guy talk till now.
NEVER CLICKED ON A VIDEO SO FAST IN MY ENTIRE LIFE
Outstanding! I saw them in Florida in January..right in front of Justin. He is a wonderful player and seems like just a great guy!
Thank you so much for this interview brother. You did a fantastic job! And many thanks to Pete & Justin both for letting us inside your world!🤘🏻 This was so fuckin cool! Up next, ADAM! 😂
“It’s hard to over power Tool with a radio signal” that’s an understatement I’ve seen them twice and they are so loud live. When I saw them in 2022 I was right in front of Adam about 10 feet from the rail and I wouldn’t have made it without earplugs.
I literally waited 10 years for this video, showing every detail of tge best bass rig in rock/metal! Cheers to Rig Rundown
Thanks Justin!!
Please, @premierguitar give us ADAM JONES right now rundown!
Two sets of strings every show! Wow. Love Justin and Tool. Amazing job getting him on the rundown.
0:26 Bro, from one tool fan to another, congratulations on having Justin. I'm truly happy for you. New subscriber, about to binge watch your channel. 🤘🏽
