Absolutely, The audience forgets why we even go to movies in the first place. To escape and enjoy they don’t always have to be the political thrillers as long as the good movie with a good story, cast, etc. then I have no problem with it.

Another full circle moment that Quantumania brings to the trilogy is the inclusion of Kang being the main antagonist in the first place. Kang says to Scott that he's "Just a man." then Cassie reiterates in her speech that Kang's "not invincible" that's important because in the first Ant-Man film Hank says, " In the right hands the relationship between man and suit is symbiotic; the suit has the power the man harnesses that power." Both Scott and Kang are just men with suits that have incredible power. But Scott defeats Kang by harnessing the strength of man and not his suit. It's a small detail, but it goes a long way.

I honestly loved this movie. The message to me was it was taking the smallest avenger and proving why he deserves to be an Avenger. Showing how for all of Scott’s life everyone underestimated him or expected him to fail, but here he is taking on an avengers level threat with his family by his side. I loved that message and I walked in without expecting Scott to die at the hands of kang. I don’t think the movie was bad. I think people were glued to their expectations and bashed this movie when their expectations weren’t met.

So much this. I wasn't expecting Scott to die (I don't go in to a solo superhero movie expecting the title character to die, that's just not how the genre works; heroes die in Crisis Crossovers, not solo movies), and I thought it was a great movie. Low bar I'm setting, but it's probably my favorite post-Endgame MCU movie.

The first one they're basically slaves, the second, one gets big and becomes part of the family and helps Scott not get caught by Jimmy woo, then in the 3rd one all these interactions and their new head gear their intellect gets higher, then they go through thousands of years of evolution create a civilisation and all work together to help the ant family. It's actually really emosh if you think about it, inspite of the time they've been creating their civilisation as soon as they could went to help save the antfam, they still remembered or had past down the knowledge of their human family that got them there and still had that connection to hank, also they're all huge intelligent armoured and able to lift 100x times their own weight and there's thousands so...kang who in my opinion 🐜

One big failing as an Ant-Man film (besides Wasp having nothing to do) is the loss of connectivity to his own other "little guys", his X-Con crew. Yeah, they had MODOK and I'm ok with how they incorporated that. But to really close the trilogy, the X-Cons also needed to be involved.
So thus it has 2 bits of being incomplete and unsatisafying.
By "killing" Kang (though we know he's not dead), it kinda put a big halt on the Multiverse saga's big-bad before he even started (and this would be true even without Majors' personal matters), and then it fails to totally satisfy as an Ant-Man film because 2 factors of what made the prior films work were removed (X-Con) or reduced (Hope/Wasp).
That said, I do like it a lot, and it was great to share w/ my now 12 year old kid.

Here's what I think could've fixed quantumania so just get rid of kang have him be like thanos him sitting on a throne controlling everything and have modok as the main villain but as a general in kang's army just like Ronan the accuser is a top commanrer in thanos army in guardians of the galaxy and I saw some of the rejected concept art for Modok and it looked better than the modok we got in quantumania so i would use one of those rejected concept art and used it for the movie and I would remove the Modok redemption arc now I would continue the trend of a hero losing something in they're 3rd movie maybe modok kills Janet or something and at the end of the movie we will have a scene where a battalion of kang's soldiers report to kang that modok has been defeated but kang just smiles just like Thanos at the end of the avengers movie we can still have the council of kangs mid credits scenes

Also, my only problem was the casting of Jonathon Majors cause of IRL stuff but that’s not even this movies fault, we could blame it on the Loki series since that’s where he first appeared. Regardless, he’s no longer with Marvel or Disney so all should be right I guess.

I’ve said it here a few times. I really like Quantumania and I’ve watched it three times now. It really is a great arc for Scott to show him EARNING his spot in The Avengers instead of just coasting in as a Captain America fanboy in Civil War. Ye, there are parts where the CGI is shaky, however, having just rewatching True Lies two nights ago and seeing how genuinely bad early CGI was and being able to point out EVERY scene where you see Arnold’s stunt double’s face so clearly seen, even shaky current CGI looks amaze balls in comparison. Haha. Personally, I’m glad to see this take from Ryan. I’d love to see more videos like this where a dip into the science helps folks better understand why things work in our MCU films. That’s something I’ve always enjoyed about the comics. It was always teaching us important life lessons and science on the sly if you were reading it the way it was intended. I do love a subversive and brilliant group of creatives.

The only thing missing from Quantumania was Luis. I think the hate came from Marvel advertising, who Kang would become instead of letting him be a new villain that would become a thorn in everyone's side. The mistake wasn't him being defeated by hyper intelligent ants. The mistake was not showing Kang survive it.

I honnestly like this Ant Man Movie, and I think it really doesn't deserve all that backlash, except the complains about CGI being rushed.
That said, I think Quantumania lacks the scale effects we had in previous appearances of Ant Man in the MCU, especially in the first movie : What I liked about Ant Man was the sense of scale, with some scenes that had that miniature effect. And I think it's a shame that they went away from these shot ideas...

I agree with so much of the video and appreciate the movie more. However, I still can't get over how inconsistent Kang's powers are. One moment he is levitating around, vaporizing/annihilating people , and can use the force/control gravity. The next he just wants to stay on the ground, knocking people back and hide in a bubble...I get that his powers are only from technology and those ants might have better tech and abilities that can still beat the stronger version of him, but I think they could have done better to show that and stay more consistent.

The sense of scale was off. One of the things that makes Ant Man movies unique is the size of people and things compared to the normal size of the real world. Several times in the QR it was hard to tell if they were shrunken, normal or giant sized compared to the rest of the environment. They should have done something different with Kang, like maybe have him inside an actual prison inside his base. Like he can use his tech to create and control his empire, but he was physically confined to an enclosed area by his variants using some sort of powerful energy field. So he can't really interact with the environment and personally go out and shoot lasers, but his tech, his army and his minions are able to do the physical heavy lifting for him. That would allow the heroes to find a way to defeat him without having to face him as a true big bad. Instead, they'd just sort of thwart his goals and overthrow his empire in the QR. The end however, should foreshadow that by defeating him, they overlooked something and actually gave Kang a way to escape the QR. That would set up the future slate of events and pay off that gut feeling Scott has at the end where he's questioning whether they actually won.

Yes! Bill Murray was incredible. 100% agree. Every mannerism aligns with his character every look and reaction to another line. Few can do this. (Jim Carey in early movies being another). I've seen this movie maybe 15x. Bc JM was incredible as this character, I kept needing to see his performance, 2) Paul Rudd is just likeable . 3) Bill Murray big performance in a tiny role. 4) bc I like escapism and space.
I'm a passive marvel fan. I watch most movies to escape. I don't know the comics . I didn't watch the other ant mans bc I'm onto powered heros ie mutants. So my standards are for entertainment and escapism. Mission accomplished. I really liked this movie.

I felt that Antman was close to embracing those themes, but Scott did remains the same as ending montage shows he didnt learn Cassie's lesson that he needed to be more proactive as an Avenger rather than protecting the status quo (ie Kang and his timeline). Sacrificing himself wouldve been that arc.
What was bad about the movie was its CGI action, abundance of side characters, lack of Wasp, reluctance to show Kang until the midpoint, and the underwhelming ending of Wasp defeating him despite zero character arc in the movie (she kills her mother's lover-- what if Wasp was struggling with a similar conflict to her mother regarding her love for Scott).

I might be the only person that just accepts Marvel shows/movies for what they are and find enjoyment in all of them, i mean except of eternals which i still havent watched yet.
Like i absolutely loved She-Hulk, it was really funny meta and subversive. I love the totally new style and tone, its the exact type of episodic show that Marvel lacks, the casual viewer would be able to get into much easier. the CGI looks fine, like she looks like a female hulk, yes people who are green dont look normal, and if you teied painting and actor you wouldnt get the subsurface scatter that cg skin is able to reproduce, ot would look cheap with someone painted.
If Secret wars was as it was and wasnt considered "Marvel" it would have been a massive hit for literally any TV or streaming network, the acting and production were pretty top notch.
Try findig the good in things and a lot more shows will be good to you

I think you have a point. To put it another way, when I saw the first Avengers movie, I wasn't thinking of how all these characters would have to evolve to get to End Game. I was just enjoying seeing the Avengers together for the first time. Marvel might be a victim of its own success in that we all know that there's this great thumping story arc planned for Phase 5 and our expectations are elevated to where we want a truly epic villain that is clearly a universe-breaker from the start. If I think back on some of the best story arcs in the comics, they started out looking like single-issue stories with maybe just a hint that there might be more coming. It isn't until you get toward the end that you see how it's all been building to that point. Most people agree that part of what didn't work in the DC movie universe was how rushed it was to get to the Justice League and Darkseid. One way to look at Quantummania is slowing down and telling some stories that hint at things to come but don't rush to the end.
In the case or the first Avengers movie, I think they got the villain right in having Loki as the main opponent and then bringing Thanos in for a cameo. If they'd done the same with MODOK and brought Kang in at the end, it would have worked better and seemed less of a rush.
Yet even with Kang being the big bad and also defeated in this movie is that Kang doesn't give up and he gets better each time because he learns from his mistakes. They could have shown him coming back in the next film in the line, having better protection for his gauntlets and a better force field. Or they could have shown some other Kangs coming in to solve the problem that this one Kang couldn't.
I also agree with your analysis of the plot in terms of recognizing the power of the little guys, especially when they work together. I'm not sure how the screenwriter could have made it any more obvious without hammering us over the head with it.
