Dan has an affair. Amoral, selfish, but not villainous.
Alex manipulates, harasses, stalks, boils a fucking bunny, kidnaps a child, attempts murder several times! Sure, Dan's the villain, cus he's a guy!
She knew what she was doing. She asked where his wife was and was still with it! Villain!!!
Yes
Don't fuck around - "Do not commit adultery" - this commandment was not given without a reason".
The script is amazing, and so is the acting
When he says: "It is you choice, it has Nothing to do with me!"
Well, in fact he has 50% responsibility that she got pregnant. That is what sex is basically about - making babies. If he doesnt want that, fine, use a condom. or get a vasectomy. Although even in those cases it might happen that a woman gets pregnant.
Time to grow up for some males (to me these dont deserve the word "Man") and take responsibility for their actions and act like a man.
you gotta remember that even if it takes two to tango, women are the gatekeepers to sex. we literally cant get into your bed without your permission. that part is on you

It should have made you afraid of cheating.... not dating!
@@walterhigo7658 There are women that do this to single men.
@jaketapper8910
And there are plenty of men (single or not) who treat women this way. What's your point?
I agree. Dating can be just as dangerous. If you want to break it up with your partner and they don’t want to, well you now have a lot of problems.

Just struck me that when Gloria threatens to call Tony Soprano's wife (and he tells her he'll kill her if she does) -- it's a throwback to this movie scene.
Actually Gloria had many problems and one of them was she was suicidal. She threatened to go to Tony's wife and daughter to goad him into killing her. It almost worked....
This is such great acting.
She reminds me of my brother's mentally unstable ex-girlfriend. Fortunately, he exited the toxic relationship before she ruined his life.
Absolutely brilliant actors
This happens daily all over the world… sad✍🏻
The insult "bunny boiler" was derived from this film.
Girl, he is not that into you.
This movie scared me into keeping it in my pants, and I wasn’t even married then.
Yes Alex was and went completely nuts. But she was completely right. "own up to your responsibilities" neither of them could have it both ways but especially him.
True. But ultimately, it's always the women's choice whether to have a kid or not, and the guy has to just take it.
I found Anne Archer more beautiful than even Sharon Stone in Basic Instinct, let alone Glenn Close. No offense to anyone's looks. They are all great at acting, especially Glenn Close but Anne Archer was just oh so gorgeous. She's so beautiful 😍❤️🩷
You gotta love how she said that she wants a little respect. I would have laughed too.
Oh boy was Glenn robbed here! That was easily the best acting of that year, to think she lost to Cher! unimaginable…
That's why Hollywood sucks.
I hated this movie this man had the gut to say “it not his responsibility”

Brilliant movie. Acting was superb. I saw it in the theater when it came out and it was intense. Every time that darn phone rang, everyone shit themselves.
Just stop showering and eat lots of garlic. That will end the romance for sure.

It ONLY takes a PHONE CALL!!
she should have grassed him up, i would have.

She did tell her that later when she called😂
I always got the sense that the father in law knew something was up seeing how Dan reacts to Martha calling. It also explains why he definitely is pissed in the hospital when Dan comes in after Beth’s accident when all this shut has come out

The squeaking door opening and "meow" closing is the star of this scene. Very foreboding and telling of what's to come. Applause for the door 👏
The one true victim is the wife Anne. No one ever thinks or mentions her!!! Sweet woman, trying her best to keep her family happy. Do you think she was cheated on, betrayed, MURDERED a person and lived happily ever after?! Oh her happy perfect life had been ruined ever since. And she never did anything to deserve this, poor woman.
And Alex... I wish someone could save her, I really feel for her, poor crazy woman
Don't forget Anne had her daughter taken for a brief bit and wound up in the hospital because of the accident looking for the girl.
I dated a girl just like this. We went out on two dates, then the death threats came.
Scary ,did you get away from her eventually, some people are crazy it's just unfortunate you met one
@@AlanObrien-if4ie I cut off all communication but she would call me like 30 - 40 times a day. Then when I would answer she said she was going to have me killed. Alex wasn't the innocent person either
Instead of leaving him alone
She knew that he was married

Michael Douglas played he's part really good .is fantastic actor...the film was so gripping at the End all l can say really what a film...lan west
Every married man should watch this evrey 10 years
She’s so beautiful
She would go after him like this even if he was not married. Marriage was not the factor or the principle that was broken here. She wanted to control him just like a black widow.
Should have kept his pied piper in his pants 🤷♀️
By screwing her, getting her pregnant and then wanting her to shut up and go away, wasn't he also trying to control her?
To be fair, at one point Dan says to her something to the effect of: 'I really like you and if I weren't with someone else maybe I'd be with you' Not sure what the point of spending a weekend with someone you're not having a good time with would be, so it's not really a logical conclusion you're drawing here.
Women generally go after guy's that are already taken. Especially if they are taken by a more attractive woman.
@@russkate88 lol I'm sorry your experience with women has been that awful but that's not accurate about the vast majority.

Whilst in this instance the guy was married, even when it comes to single people, there are women out there that are just like the one portrayed here.

Great movie. Glenn Close was absolutely phenomenal.
This is what happens when you cheat and play with fire. You get burned. 🔥
Because of this scene I like the alternate ending better. The psychopathic murderer ending doesn't honestly fit Alex's character.
Thank God for Martha!
Somebody please give Glenn Close a comb.
God bless Glenn Close she spoke that pregnancy into existence 🙏🏼 she didn't even know she was pregnant and was doing all them Scenes and she didn't know it ❤
I loved the part she said I call your wife. And she ahhhh
Phew..I want to see this movie again. I've only seen it twice and that was 20 years ago.
Super good acting. Drama to the core.
For some reason I can figure it out … She feels like she’s abandoned, alone and ignored . I could feel the same if I was cheated on by a man … We are women we don’t feel the way men do
She held all the cards. For awhile.
