CLIP DESCRIPTION:
Dan (Michael Douglas) is shocked to find his mistress Alex (Glenn Close) having a chat with his wife (Anne Archer).
FILM DESCRIPTION:
"Fatal attraction" has become a household term for love turned to murderous obsession, thanks to the success of Adrian Lyne's 1987 movie. Dan (Michael Douglas) is a family man whose one-night affair with Alex (Glenn Close) turns into a nightmare when she insists on continuing the relationship, claiming to be carrying his baby. Alex systematically terrorizes Dan, even temporarily kidnapping his daughter, in her attempts to win back his affection. Douglas' besieged family man guiltily tries to preserve his marriage and family from the consequences of his own indiscretion. Close's performance as the love-struck psycho-siren remains her signature role: She conveys the buried feminist message of the film in her challenge to Dan to take responsibility for his sexual behavior. Though many critics acknowlegded the film's striking similarities to Clint Eastwood's 1971 film Play Misty for Me, Fatal Attraction spawned numerous other movies about middle-class families besieged by a lone psychotic intent on infiltrating and destroying the fabric of the family unit, including The Stepfather (1987), Pacific Heights (1990), The Hand That Rocks the Cradle (1992), and Fear (1996).

Every man in the country feared for his future after this movie 🤣

Self-inflicted blood pressure then in that case! 🤨
@@andycross9840No one asked that crazy lady to come by his house.
his face is priceless. she came over to just get his new address and phone number. wow.
Soleil Desse lmfao i know right
Soleil Desse how did she knew where he lives ? I missed that part
Yeah she is crazy and the wife was the innocent one in all of this! I really hope Glenn Close wins an Oscar she was nominated 7 times and she lost this year in 2019!
And all under the guise of being a potential buyer of their apartment! Clever
It was really to get the new phone number, but, when she got there. She found out that he was moving, and his wife gave him the new address as an additional. Its crazy she is harassing him, but it was nothing he could do. He had to play it off.
I saw this in the theater when it first came out. "Let me give you our number." The audience groaned!
🤣
So great !
glen was so pretty in this and so terrifying
remember the hand that rocks the cradle? the audience cheered at the end lol
Lol!
This was literally a perfect film. Nearly 40 years later and it’s still a timeless classic
A perfect film? Not close. Not Glenn Close fault or any actor. The absurd / laughable ending of her jumping out of the bathtub was a disaster! The director didn't have the guts to keep I real. He went all Friday the 13th! FA would have been perfect but that ending was a cop-out. Should have let it end with him drowning her or shoot her before. The pop up scare was stupid stupid stupid. That movie deserved better....you want to see a perfect crazy film? Watch Clint Eastwood in Play Misty for Me. That is a classic.
I agree. The ending was ridiculous, but it’s a classic because you can literally watch this movie and never get tired of it.
The plot is every man's worst nightmare! lol
@Pelhamite I gotta feeling this movie is tame compared to real life stories.
Classic
The moment his wife starts talking about where and when they are moving, you can just see the life drain out of him, his whole plan was to move to an undisclosed location and start a new life, he had to just stand there knowing his entire plan to get away was completely destroyed in a matter of seconds while she grinned with joy, great acting all around!
Nailed it. I bet he wanted to kill her right then and there. She was really twisted man.
Spot on , his face told the whole story.
Yep he was a dead man walking.
@@dianewebb5772 so true
😂😂 omg this is such an accuracy summary
Oscar-worthy performance by Glenn Close. Her eyes, along with her sinister grin, is psychotic.
Trust me it is
For real!!!!
Glenn Close is long overdue for an oscar. She proved herself as a good actress. I liked her in Air Force One as the Vice President*** Four Good Days.
If you hate an actor for a character he/she played, it's a good actor
She is amazing.
This movie is 30+ years old and this scene still gives me chills. How did Glenn not get an Oscar for this???
Cher was busy sucking d and caulk from the academy members
She had an oscar
How can this married man cheated his wonderful wife. If I had such a lovely wife I would really take care of her
@@GustavoDarioRodriguez-ts5jf Because in many cases, extra marital affairs are not about the cheated-on partner at all, but the desire of the cheater to have an ego boost.
She and cher were in close competition that year for the Oscar. It went to cher for " moonstruck" I viewed both movies bk. To bk. To compare the acting. While close did a great job, cher had a more challenging role to play. The one scene that I will never forget is how cher was able to make a tear go down her face at a particular point in a conversation. That's superb acting. 😮
Micheal Douglas was just amazing in this scene. His facial expressions.
and the suspicious handshake between Dan and Alex
Christopher Donaldson definitely
Dan knew Alex; Dan just didn't want to break the silence at the time to his wife
What amazing actors. It's true, no affair slips away without damages.
That's the mark of really good acting. As they say acting is about acting and reacting.
"I will not be ignored Dan." She wasn't lying 😂
Glenn Close should have gotten the Oscar for this. Just her eyes..and the tiniest facial expressions. Genius
I agree Glenn killed the role of Alex she should have gotten a oscar nomination.
So true
She was nominated but they gave it to a highly forgettable performance from Cher in Moonstruck
@@vicdeakins2238 That’s true. Cher outdid her for sure.
@@patriciafoster3347 Yes, yes she did.
Nobody but nobody could have pulled those roles off better than Michael Douglas and Glenn Close. Bone chilling.

TV is in its golden age now. Cinema is still good just not as big. Alot of talent goes to TV now

And the actors were actually trained actors and not pop stars.
I remember this scene in the movie theater. It was dead silence but so much tension. Terrific scene. This movie was just about perfect.

This scene ought to be taught in acting and film schools. What wasn’t said was brilliantly executed.
"Let me give you our number.."
ohhh man that look on his and her face as they stare at each other, such a great film
Damn, the wife is gorgeous!
Agreed, Mrs98. I"d always thought so. I had a hard time understanding how Dan could cheat on her.
Obviously not gorgeous enough for him
Lynn Walker cheating is not always a lack of attraction - it just has to be a different person. I have seen lots of guys do this. Not advocating for it, but I have seen it many times. Both from really photogenic couples.

Omg one of the best scenes in film history ever. The second Beth says “let me give you our number”, everybody just vocally GROANS. That two-shot of Alex and Beth is beautiful too. We the audience, even though he has done something terrible, are squirming with Dan.
This is one of the best 'edge of your seat' moments ever.
Jon Piper I know how he feels.. it’s a nightmare
That look she gives him right after "Alex is expecting a baby", absolutely brilliant!! GC's non-verbals in this film were every bit as good as her dialogue!! And you can just tangibly feel Dan falling apart inside as he has to stay silent as Beth gives all their plans away. Stunning work!
Cher wins the Oscar over this? WTF?
A LOT of people are mindlessly obsessed with Cher for some reason. Glenn Close’s performance in this movie was absolutely top notch.
This movie is a masterpiece. Note how the camera bobs up and down approaching the two women as if through his eyes and makes for an unsettling feel. Just a great film.
"Alex is expecting a baby."
"Ohhh, that's...uh, will you excuse me, I have some work I've gotta do..."
HAHAHAHAHA!
The facial expressions in this scene are PRICELESS! I especially love that last smile that Alex gives Dan on her way out the door, after she says "I'll keep in touch." HAHA, BRILLIANT! Best scene in the whole movie!
Ricardo Rivera 🤔
Multiply his face one million times.
Yeah But she's lying about that
I think that the baby was just another lie of her.
She indeed "keep in touch." That's really creepy.
This scene scared me!!!!! Glenn Close was crazy!!!!!
This movie scares me the older I get.
Talk about an awkward moment lmao come home from work an the mistress in your house talking to your wife LMAO
When they shake hands you can see the scar from when she cut herself. CHILLING!
A lesson to all cheating married men back then, and perhaps even now.
Relax sister, woman do it also, and more often...if I guy does it they do it once and then tragedy happens but woman God help them...they keep doing it until the end...just like the good book says Hell have no fury like a woman's scorn...I wonder why.
Mariposa Farfan all men are cheaters? no need to generalize. Yes the world has become a very sad place but not everyone is that way. There are some that still have integrity. Also, that's one way where you are wrong when you are just focusing on sex. If sex is the focus or main value of a relationship then it was never one in the first place. That's a very selfish thought and idea of what a relationship is or should be. If you think that way going into a relationship then you are attracting the wrong kind of person in the first place and vice versa. Sex is a physical part of a relationship and although important you can't rely on it in the long run compared to what real love is which should be unconditional.
+Mariposa Farfan You cant say all man are cheaters.Women cheat too.Dumb feminist. What do you want,to be treated like some higher being?
+17MXT I get what you're saying but what do you mean by being treated like a higher being? no getting cheated on? both of you have no logic not all men cheat not all women cheat
***** I just dislike that she said what she said as if no woman ever cheated on a man.And how women like her say they want equality, but just want to be treated like princesses...

Saw this in the theater back in '87, and the tension in the audience was so tangible during it! Everyone gasped in terror at all the right moments! Love this scene; Douglas is all like, .."Christ, I can't seem to win with this psycho, no matter what I do"! Ha ha!
Always loved how they isolated on the handshake, as if joking along with the audience saying, “Yeah, they’ve done WAY more than shake hands.” 😆
They were showing the scars on her wrists but interesting interpretation as well.
You could see the scares on her wrists when she slashed them.

And the wife is always the last to know! It may seem exaggerated for the movies but nope.. it is exactly how it happens in real life..
So glad this phenomenal and classic 80's movie is finally streaming so I can watch it again!
Michael Douglas was on fire in the 70's as a TV actor then again as a movie star and leading man.
Love all 3 actors in this scene.

He should have spilled right there....refusing to give out number and address.
He had already said and done a lot 😈
He Could, But He's afraid too loos his wife
WOW!!!! She really crossed the line. But the worst thing was when she kidnaps their daughter
And tried to kill Beth...
No the worst thing she did was killing the rabbit then boiling it. I ran out the theatre nearly screaming. 👿.
Not only does she kidnap their daughter Ellen she also kills the Rabbit and puts in the boiler. That tells me she was really really pissed off.
You'll never get bored with a crazy woman.

Sarah Gray You aren't ever lying.
True, same goes for crazy men. It's sure as hell not boring but it also fucks you up so soon you're crazy too... Double fun though!
True. She must be a freak in the sheets.
Agreed, soda. I was involved with someone once who was kind of like Alex. May have been bi-polar.
I saw this in a preview screening in '87 (I was 19) and the audience went insane. People jumping from seats, clapping, talking to the screen, everything. It was an experience. And not surprisingly, the movie was a hit. Copycat films came soon thereafter.
A lot of the "fill-in-the-blank from hell" suspense thriller movies well into the 1990's.
Just out of interest, was it a cinema with mostly black people?
Really hope Glenn gets her Oscar someday. She blows my socks off in every role she plays. A true master of her craft.
Glenn Close has been nominated so many times its about time she gets one I hope she wins an oscar next year in 2024. I have to say I am on Alex's side with this b/c Dan played with her emotions and messed with her head. Three brilliant overlapping performances all playing off each other for a perfect, tension-filled scene. The menace that Glenn Close conveys to Michael Douglas while seeming perfectly cordial to Ann Archer; Michael Douglas’s resignation and fury as his wife innocently gives Alex everything she came to get; and Ann Archer being the perfect host, unaware of anything going on around her. All three are great.
The way she says I'll keep in touch - she was certainly gonna do that alright!
Those 80s hairstyles Anne's and Glen's were lit.
I know right 😂😂🤣🤣
The wildly libidinous ways of men and women from match the freaky hairstyles from the '80s era/ Glen Close is more intense and feisty as lawyer Teddy Barnes in 1985 thriller Jagged Edge/
That´s how you use a hand-held camera. This scene is absolut perfection.

She's the daughter of actress MARJORIE LORD who played the wife of Danny Thomas on the old TV series "Make Room For Daddy". I think everyone was outstanding in this film. Certainly, one of the best by Close. Infact, she should have won the Oscar over Cher.

I recall Michael Douglas doing an old interview with Oprah where someone in the industry once asked him in his early dubious acting career in the 70s, "Are you sure you don't want to be a producer?" So he went into producing movies. Then he said after he did both Wall Street (Best Actor Oscar) and Fatal Attraction (should have been nominated Best Actor) in 1987, he was asked, "Are you sure you don't want to be an actor?!" lol The man ended up doing pretty well with this acting thing.
From the beginning to the very end, this movie has your mind totally mesmerized and completely transfixed because it’s just that damn good! I’ve seen other’s trying to imitate it, but they failed miserably because this movie just can never be replicated. It stands the test of time of psychologically thrillers.
Glenn Close is a good-looking woman, but Anne Archer, wow, she is a very beautiful woman.
The thing is, Anne Archer his wife, might have the softer beauty, but Glenn Close is far more seductive and intense. It's easy to see why he was entranced by her, and even though it became toxic, I think she still had a grip on him. He never would've forgotten her.
Ann Archers smile @ 0:51 can stop and light up an entire room.
She's beautiful and a great actress. It's a shame she's a crazy Scientologist. Her son used to be their spokesman who harassed journalists.

The way she hinted and confirmed that they knew each other, but only half of the true story, was surgical in its cunningness. Such a clever script.
She had balls. She had this dark look to her, as if she hadn't gotten any good sleep lately. You could see the hate she had for Dan.
This is one the best scenes of the film!
Probably the most tense movie scene of all time! Gotta admit, Alex really had some balls to pull off something like that! Clever way of getting their new phone number and finding out where they were moving to! o_O

That horrible feeling of meeting an ex and having to pretend you don't know the person...
The look on Dan's face:out of the frying pan and into the fire.

Only Dan knew he never told his wife but Alex wasn't going to be ignored she killed the rabbit, and attacks his wife in the bathroom! Beth made good on that promise when she said "If you ever come near my family I'll kill you do you understand!" she made good on that promise! What is even more sad is the desperation Alex had and she wanted Dan to love her like he loved Beth! Dan had an affair and it bit him in the ass big time!
It bit her as well. Her being a homewrecker cost her her life and sanity. People seem to forget that. They just want to put all the blame on the man....
