Well, I meant just remaking the original trilogy. The handheld titles and Enter the Dragonfly weren't great at all, Hero's Tail was alright, but more of its own thing, and the Legend Trilogy, while good imo, isn't really remake material
You are an example of what I wish gamer would be. You are a big fan of Nintendo and are primarily are a Nintendo guy. But at the same time you were not afraid of recognizing a good game regardless of what platform it is on. I wish more people and reviewers would follow your lead.

I think all of the new voices were great except N.Brio. His PS1 actor just did a better job capturing his nutty and unstable personality better. And just a preference but I like Cortex's PS1 voice better cause Clancy "Kurgan" Brown is awesome

If this gets a release on the Switch, I will buy a Switch. I've always wanted to play the Crash games as the only one I ever owned as a kid was Nitro Cart. This is the perfect excuse to finally do so, though nothing else on the PS4 is really interesting me, so I would rather not dish out all that money for a console just to play one game (basically the same problem I have with the Switch right now, though that's likely to change in the near future). However, if the success of this means we get a complete remake/remaster/rewhatever of the original three Spyro games too? I am totally on board with getting a PS4. Let me at it. (I've been hoping for something exactly like this for the original two Sonic Adventure games for like 7 years too, so it's amazing to see stuff like this finally happening, and getting a new generation into the old yet still perfectly good games of yester-year.)
I only played Crash Warped when I was younger, but I always used a Dual Shock controller with it back then, so I find it interesting how some people have issues with the analog controls in this. It's the only control scheme I ever knew for it, so I imagine I'd feel right at home with it here. Hesitant to buy it when I mainly want it for Warped, though.
I can't believe it's already been 7 years since Crash got his remaster... Still so worthy of praise though. This trilogy remaster proved one thing to me. Sony REALLY screwed up by not buying the IP and making Crash their official console mascot. If Sony had done so and hired Toys For Bob on as an in house developer, I'm not saying Mario would have something to worry about ,but They'd have a VERY SOLID console mascot of their own. As things stand Astro Bot is as close as they have to one, and it doesn't have the same significance Crash would have since Crash was from their first generation console like Mario is for Nintendo. At the very least, Crash could've been the same thing Sonic was for SEGA for so many years...
Arlo I'm impressed you were a Crash Fan, me too. Spyro the Dragon and Crash Bandicoot were the only 2 Playstation Games I loved, the rest was pure Nintendo I love Nintendo.
of course the faithful limitations are a good thing. Crash Bamdicoot was so fun and so rewarding because it would be difficult at times, but not so difficult you'd give up and throw the controller down. If you missed one box you'd be so mad at yourself for not finding it and would willing travel backwards in a level where it was very inconvenient to do so bases on camera angles.
Great review! I personally have never played the original trilogy but LOVED Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy. Sure it feels outdated and doesn't hit as hard as other 3D platformers, but the trilogy is just so ridiculous fun. The level design is great and the replayable is there. I played it on Nintendo Switch and liked it a lot there. However, before the Nintendo Switch version was released, I actually wanted to play this trilogy so badly that I almost got a PS4 just for it lol

Nice review. I think the analog stick is just a bonus. To play crash on point I feel it's still best to use the directional pad as it feels more natural, and gives your precision when jumping boxes etc.

The Crash games are fine. Didn't play them as a kid but I play them when I was older and I liked them. However this game (or really any major game) convinced me i needed a ps4. However! If they remake spyro the dragon in this style. That PS4 is in my house the second it's announced.

Your problem with the hit boxes is only in the remastered version. They messed up a few enemies and even changed jump distances in the first Crash, which especially makes The High Road the hardest stage of the game. Jumping physics are also different and slightly worse in the N Sanity Trilogy. You're right about the system's limitation leading towards the design aspects but most of the "I swear this wasn't my fault moments" are because of the remaster. There are other problems and people are listing them of the subreddit so hopefully VV will work on a patch. Great collection otherwise.
Looks great. I'll be picking this up as soon as I get a PS4. The one gripe I have is that the new graphics look like oily clay, but I'm sure I can get used to it.
The only Crash game i've played was Crash of the Titans, which i do remember liking and have nostalgia for, but i wish i had play the originals when they came out.
Having never played the originals and primarily playing Nintendo games when I was younger, I was hesitant to pick this up. I'm glad I did though. Uncharted is one of my favourite series of all time and it's been neat experiencing Naughty Dog's first major franchise. These games are fun, charming and CHALLENGING. I've only been playing for three days now, but so far I'm having the most fun with Crash Warped. 6/7 would also recommend.
On of my favorite game series as a kid, I’m hoping they do a roaster of the original spyro too. I haven’t gotten into the skylanders series, yet. I feel like I’m so behind on that. I would like to see them make more like they used to with Spyro as a major focus but obviously with new elements and stuff

I feel like the best way to judge games like this are to average the score as an individual game (bugs, how the gameplay actually is in 2017, etc), and the score as a remake/remaster (how much of an improvement over the original, worth the money for these improvements).
Gotta say the Remaster is pretty well done Difficulty is hard for me, so thats a plus for me One thing that gripes me, is that the Camera in Crash 1 is quite zoomed-in when you compare it to 2 and 3 I know they wanted to be really faithful to the original, but this is something i would totally accept Also I know that some unused levels will be added in the Lost Treasures DLC But man it could be real cool if they were secret levels already in the Remaster

Crash 1 was the first game I ever played and Crash 2 is tied with Metroid Prime Trilogy as my favorite game. I am absolutely loving it! This is Sony's most important game of the year because if it sells well then that shows we care about more games than big budget movie/story focused games like Uncharted and almost every 1st party game shown off at E3 (GoW and Days Gone look too similar to The Last of Us to me and Detroit: Become Human is too story and "experience" focused like the other games). If anyone cares, Top 3 Crash games imo: 3. Twinsanity 2. Crash 3 1. Crash 2
Crash 3 was the first 3D platformer I played, and was the deciding decision for me to buy a ps4 about 3 months ago. That, and a very special game I wouldn't have been able to play 'till it comes on Switch.
What do you think of the Nintendo Switch version, Arlo? I like how they have improved the controls. In the PS4 version, the jumping was pretty bad and that lead to a lot of cheap deaths and it made the hard levels from Crash 1, almost impossible to beat. In other words, the jumping physics were way off, compared to the original games. I had an easier time getting the green gem from The Lost City from Crash 1 in the Switch version, than I did in the PS4 version. I never got it the PS4 version, because the hitboxes were awful! Also, Coco's jet ski levels from Crash 3 were greatly improved. In the PS4 version, it was almost impossible to fly off ramps and break the airborne boxes.
I wish I liked Crash more but sadly those wonky controls you mentioned along with the horrible depth of field is why I put it down as a kid and put it back down as an adult. I just wish we got along better. But that's alright me and Spyro will keep hanging out.
Ok, i need to bring this up. I live in New Zealand. We had villagers amiibos in our stores for years. We still have switches to be bought. You can easily rock up day one and get a game without preorders. But with crash.... SOLD OUT!?
The ice physics and jet ski controls aren't accurate. But it was the jet ski that I had problems with the most. Turning felt so floaty and I kept missing boxes from ramp jumps compared to the controls of the original.
Did they fix the bullshit from Crash 1 where if you die after a checkpoint all the barrels you've destroyed up to the check point come back and you have to re-break them in order to get a completion?
Actually you can use the 3rd mask to get those boxes your were bouncing on when talking about precise movements in the first stage. This is a game that to fix the problems you'd have to make a new game... which is the pro and con of any remake.
You should definitly do more of these. They feel really genuine and you simply know stuff about gamedesign. Contrair to some other RUclipsrs... *cough*_Jirard_*cough*
Oh, I actually enjoyed the Post-Greg period quite a bit. I found all the running gags pretty tiring. I was glad the videos became more down to earth, I didn't watch them for the funnies, more for the review part. However, especially in this year, the videos of his team had become more and more ungenuine. They don't feel like reviews or critiques anymore most of the time. More like advertisements. And he keeps on doing these horrible deals with horrible companies for whatever fucking reason.
I still got to finish the 3rd Game I beat the first 2 and put it down after starting the 3rd and never picked it back up again as more games came out and I forgot about this one.
Man. I never played Crash as a kid. Like, kind of I guess, but not really. I also played some Crash Bash but for the most part I missed out on Crash because I (Nor anyone else I knew) had a PS1 (Which, let me tell you, impressed upon me as a child that everyone had Nintendo. when I found out as an adult that the PS1 way outsold the N64 I didn't believe it at all). I've got a Ps4 now and what it mostly does is collect dust. I think Crash is just the thing to make it be worth something.
Kevin Thompson It was the opposite for me everyone in my family had a ps1 I only knew 2 people who I saw with n64 as a kid. Granted I didn't really grew up in the 5th genoration since I'm in my early 20s but the ps1 was still played well into the early 2000s. The gamecube however I did knew quite a few people who had a gamecube when I found out it only sold 22 millon I was shocked because you had a strong variety of games on the cube.
Activision was never involved with producing the original games, and it was said that if Crash sold well (it beat out Horizon Zero Dawn as the fastest selling game this year) then there would be talks for remakes of Spyro, Crash Team Racing and even Crash Bash. At this rate, a lot of producers should be fighting to get the Spyro name to remaster.

I feel like the best way to judge games like this are to average the score as an individual game (bugs, how the gameplay actually is in 2017, etc), and the score as a remake/remaster (how much of an improvement over the original, worth the money for these improvements).

Difficulty is hard for me, so thats a plus for me
One thing that gripes me, is that the Camera in Crash 1 is quite zoomed-in when you compare it to 2 and 3
I know they wanted to be really faithful to the original, but this is something i would totally accept
Also I know that some unused levels will be added in the Lost Treasures DLC
But man it could be real cool if they were secret levels already in the Remaster

Crash 1 was the first game I ever played and Crash 2 is tied with Metroid Prime Trilogy as my favorite game. I am absolutely loving it!
This is Sony's most important game of the year because if it sells well then that shows we care about more games than big budget movie/story focused games like Uncharted and almost every 1st party game shown off at E3 (GoW and Days Gone look too similar to The Last of Us to me and Detroit: Become Human is too story and "experience" focused like the other games).

Crash 3 was the first 3D platformer I played, and was the deciding decision for me to buy a ps4 about 3 months ago. That, and a very special game I wouldn't have been able to play 'till it comes on Switch.
Going to be picking this up on Switch when it comes out next month.
What do you think of the Nintendo Switch version, Arlo? I like how they have improved the controls. In the PS4 version, the jumping was pretty bad and that lead to a lot of cheap deaths and it made the hard levels from Crash 1, almost impossible to beat. In other words, the jumping physics were way off, compared to the original games.
I had an easier time getting the green gem from The Lost City from Crash 1 in the Switch version, than I did in the PS4 version. I never got it the PS4 version, because the hitboxes were awful! Also, Coco's jet ski levels from Crash 3 were greatly improved. In the PS4 version, it was almost impossible to fly off ramps and break the airborne boxes.
I wish I liked Crash more but sadly those wonky controls you mentioned along with the horrible depth of field is why I put it down as a kid and put it back down as an adult. I just wish we got along better. But that's alright me and Spyro will keep hanging out.

The ice physics and jet ski controls aren't accurate. But it was the jet ski that I had problems with the most. Turning felt so floaty and I kept missing boxes from ramp jumps compared to the controls of the original.
So is the remakes the same as the old games? should I go back and play the PS1 versions than this?
BloodRavyne They are the same as (but better than) the originals. Just get the remake unless you are obsessed with outdated polygon graphics.

Did they fix the bullshit from Crash 1 where if you die after a checkpoint all the barrels you've destroyed up to the check point come back and you have to re-break them in order to get a completion?

Actually you can use the 3rd mask to get those boxes your were bouncing on when talking about precise movements in the first stage.
This is a game that to fix the problems you'd have to make a new game... which is the pro and con of any remake.
You should definitly do more of these. They feel really genuine and you simply know stuff about gamedesign. Contrair to some other RUclipsrs... *cough*_Jirard_*cough*

Oh, I actually enjoyed the Post-Greg period quite a bit. I found all the running gags pretty tiring. I was glad the videos became more down to earth, I didn't watch them for the funnies, more for the review part. However, especially in this year, the videos of his team had become more and more ungenuine. They don't feel like reviews or critiques anymore most of the time. More like advertisements. And he keeps on doing these horrible deals with horrible companies for whatever fucking reason.
TorchJackie I watch him sometimes when he reviews something I really like, but most if the times I cant sit through the whole video.

I still got to finish the 3rd Game I beat the first 2 and put it down after starting the 3rd and never picked it back up again as more games came out and I forgot about this one.

Man. I never played Crash as a kid. Like, kind of I guess, but not really. I also played some Crash Bash but for the most part I missed out on Crash because I (Nor anyone else I knew) had a PS1 (Which, let me tell you, impressed upon me as a child that everyone had Nintendo. when I found out as an adult that the PS1 way outsold the N64 I didn't believe it at all). I've got a Ps4 now and what it mostly does is collect dust. I think Crash is just the thing to make it be worth something.

Kevin Thompson It was the opposite for me everyone in my family had a ps1 I only knew 2 people who I saw with n64 as a kid. Granted I didn't really grew up in the 5th genoration since I'm in my early 20s but the ps1 was still played well into the early 2000s. The gamecube however I did knew quite a few people who had a gamecube when I found out it only sold 22 millon I was shocked because you had a strong variety of games on the cube.

Activision was never involved with producing the original games, and it was said that if Crash sold well (it beat out Horizon Zero Dawn as the fastest selling game this year) then there would be talks for remakes of Spyro, Crash Team Racing and even Crash Bash. At this rate, a lot of producers should be fighting to get the Spyro name to remaster.
