  • At the edge of Udabno there is the Oasis Club which is a nice place to chill and eat something. After dinner we drove to a nearby camp spot on top of a hill. The next morning we drove down the track towards the monasteries. We visited the Monastery of Sabereebi. Some of the caves still have some parts of fresco’s that stood the time. Driving further down towards the Kolagiri Monastery you will find many cave dwellings in the cliffs. We followed the track in the direction of the Dalis Mta Reservoir. We had to cross a number of dry river beds/gully’s. These are always a bit tricky notwithstanding our ground clearance and good departure angle. Particularly, “small” gully’s are tricky. In one of these we still bent our underrun bar (which was in the elevated/up position).
Shortly after we hit the river. The area where one can ford the river was all flooded and very muddy/sticky. A small bridge a little further on would work ok for cars, but we were not comfortable and also would have a problem with the trees/branches because of our height. We turned around and camped nearby. The next day we explored the area further including the so-called Badlands Loop. We slowly headed back and camped on a hill where we viewed the various herds with cows and sheep move past. As we watched a shepherd dropped by to charge his phone. That night there were big thunderstorms that rolled past. Fortunately, not too close as we were quite exposed on a hill. The next day with drove a track towards Rustavi. We did some shopping there and got ready for the transit to Armenia. While in town, we spotted a large cross on a hill overlooking the city. We checked google and saw that there was a track going there. That is where we spent our last night in Georgia.
