      I totally agree, which is why people like you and I do not partake in such activities, we watch them to scare the crap out of ourselves instead. I also watch those guys from Europe and Russia that climb huge sky scrapers and tip toe on the edge like the wind gusts mean nothing. It makes my knees feel funny. You'll never catch me in either scenario.

    Exploring a cave for the first time was an eye-opening experience, revealing a fear I never knew I had: claustrophobia. As I descended into the depths, the sense of confinement amplified my anxiety. Despite knowing I was physically capable, a persistent fear lingered, convincing me I might not find my way back.
    Watching my brother disappear into narrow crevices triggered an instinctual reluctance, yet the fear of isolation compelled me to follow suit. The fear of abandonment outweighed the fear of the unknown, propelling me into spaces I initially deemed impassable.
    Water added another layer of intensity, intensifying the eerie atmosphere. The unnerving combination of enclosed spaces and water heightened the entire adventure, making it a harrowing yet unforgettable escapade.

    In case anyone was wondering the fish towards the end (@14:55) is a sculpin, I think it may be a banded sculpin or a mottled sculpin. For the location it's most likely a mottled sculpin.
    Here's some facts if anyone's interested:
    Sculpins live in cave streams, springs, and surface streams. Individuals will migrate between underground and aboveground habitats, with adults more often being found in the cave portions of streams and juveniles in surface springs and streams. Sculpins use stream pools and areas under rocks that offer more protection to hide in..You can find them in both pool and riffle areas with a variety of substrates including silt or gravel, as seen in this video. Just something interesting I thought I'd put out here. Pretty cool that they happened to see one as some sculpins are endangered species, such as the grotto sculpin.

    This cave is only a few miles from my house!
    I've been in it many times. As soon as you get to the front of the entrance, your blasted with nice cold air. Something most people don't mention, is how hot it feels once you get out and touch the normal air again.. Feels like your gonna burn up!
    Its got some pretty dangerous drop offs and some interesting rope climbs and descents. If you go back far enough, you'll travel trough a some rooms, and a nice snake shaped pathway, and eventually there is a nice waterfall you get to wash all the mud off of you.
    Leading up through the main room there are a few passage ways that go up and to the top on the sides you can repel down at least 100ft. I did it once with a friend and it was terrifying!
    Also a little up the mountain, only a few turns up, there is a beautiful waterfall you can hike less than a mile to it and go to the top or the bottom. Very very pretty spot and there is actually a REALLY BIG hidden bird cave (vulture maybe) I found not to far above it.
    Also an abandoned hidden car from the pre 1950's era lies hidden off the ride side of the road path about 50 ft or so down just on the turn after the waterfall parking spot. It's easier to spot during the winter
    Many other fun things to see and find at Pidgeon Mountain! :)

      @ActionAdventureTwins  3 года назад +281

      you are right about the air being much colder near the entrance it is refreshing on a hot day! we went to that waterfall and climbed up near it but didn't see the vulture cave lol it probably was a vulture we see a lot of them in rock crevices and mines that is where they live. we did however see the car near the road! it looked like someone was driving too fast and went tumbling down the mountainside until hitting a tree. there is so much to see at pigeon mountain!

    I am so happy to have this pop up in my suggestions! I am from GA and went into this cave around 1999 or so with my buddy KB and others, before LED lights and such. It is no joke. It remains the only single day in my life that I sincerely thought I was going to die more than once. It is one of the most memorable days of my life and while I wouldn't trade it for anything, I am not sure I would do it again either. We spent about 3 hours or so going down (and forgive me if I am off a bit but it is now a couple of decades and you know how memory is...) and about 5 coming back up. I remember using a rope (that was already there and pre-existed us) to swing around an outcropping of rock on a sheer rock wall over a black and possibly deep floor beneath us and wondered how long it had been there and if today was the day it was worn and frayed enough to give. There was one section where we had to go elbow over elbow in water with a very very low ceiling that would sometimes touch our bottoms even though we were practically flat. Once we did that and were all wet and cool, our energy was sapped. That made it hard getting back out. We exited several hours after we had planned. Thank you so much for sharing this video!
