That’s a brilliant idea using a sound Bar as your computer speakers. I’ve been looking for a decent set of computer speakers but this is a much better idea, thanks so much. Great video and great watch. 👍

I just bought mine a few weeks back. Coming from a 2015 intel iMac, this is a giant leap in processing for me. I have the base config with 512 stores, and there is nothing I throw at it that it cannot take. I love it so far. Most media consumption and basic usage, there is nothing to compare it to.

I agree it is money well spent in my opinion, were going so far as to replace the amd ryzen 9 laptop for my wife with a macbook air M1, I've heard about some heating issues on the m2 airs. If I can get my hands on one I'll do a review. The dock review should be up soon keep an eye open for that.

I've bought mine with 16GB RAM in march 2021 with an 3 years Apple Care plan. My daily workflow includes some Affinity's files, 4k Video in Final Cut and a lot of prototypes in Figma. It handles everything very well and i believe that it will endure for some years.

How much Ram does it eat up on idle (no apps running) and how often does it swap the ssd?
I’m looking at the same thing but someone told me it uses 13GB Ram just with the new Monterey updates

Still happy with my M1 mini and just bought one for my daughter. I still use a wired keyboard and mouse because the Bluetooth still sucks but other than that it rocks! I've never heard my fan either. might upgrade when the M3 comes along but all set for now.

@@regularguyreviews8002 I tried an apple mouse first (admittedly an old model, AA batteries) and an old AA-powered apple keyboard. it was terrible. PS. took the first mini back and exchanged it, but it was still the same. Maybe the new ones work better but I did not want to risk It. I tried a 3rd party mouse with a dongle and still had problems. so I found a wired keyboard that copies the apple look and has the apple function keys, I love it and a $30 wired gaming mouse (a conservatively styled one) and love that too, I have lots of hubs connected so I don't miss the I/O

I recently bought an M1 MacBook Pro (16GB memory and 1TB storage) for a great deal. Same performance specs as Mac mini. Worth it, a big upgrade compared to my old Intel MacBook. My advice is to find a good deal for one with the higher 16GB memory spec. More storage on a desktop computer can be connected externally without too much inconvenience. But you can’t upgrade the memory, and 16GB (instead of 8GB) will future-proof it better as MacOS and apps advance, leaving Intel behind during the next 5 years.

I recently upgraded my 2015; MacBook pro with Macmini 16gb/1TB SSD. I do lots of photo editing as a landscape photographer. I use the MX Master keyboard along with Wacom Intuos. Love it so far. Didn't want to wait for the upcoming M2 😁

  • @donwonkwon

No connection issues here. Using MX Keys and master series mouse. Works flawless. The only issue I see is that when in sleep mode for awhile it will show a snow/static screen much like the old tv's in the 80's. I believe it's related to me using the auto unlock feature with my watch. Not sure but when it happens usually pressing ESC gets me back to the log in screen or dragging mouse to bottom corner of the screen (using hot corners) to put back to sleep and then wake it back up.
Let me know if anyone else has this issue and has a better fix. Thanks.

Going on what they did with the new MacBook Air, I wouldn't be surprised if they keep the M1 Mac Mini for sale at the same price. And then a New re-designed Mac Mini with M2 for £/$150-200 more.

I bought the base M1 Mini two years ago. In less than a week, it replaced both my 2014 i7 iMac and 2009 Mac Pro (both long sold). I am not a content creator but rather an advanced enthusiast and use the Mini as the center of my work and administrative life. Two years later, I still think of the Mini as my NEW computer. While I am looking forward to Apple's next Mini, iMac and Mac Pro offerings, I feel no urgency to upgrade. I may wait until used and refurb Mac Studios start to become available and look for a decent bargain.

I use a mac pro 2010 with full RAM. it is getting too small in sense of using old safari, too many action like opening pdf, videos and picts. During the last years i added everything possible. I love this possibility. But now I am looking for a replacement. Besides my old and lovely desktop i own old iphones, macbook, imac and a new ipad pro 2020. the studio might be too expensive, but now I got the advice to wait for the mac mini 2. another idea?

is 8Gb enough of video creation for say youtube and tools like final cut
Im still using a mid 2010 Imac with i7 High serria osx, Sadly no longer to upgrade, Thanks apple
So just shopping round to replace
Not fussed on HDD also as i have x2 Nas drives on network 8tb each packing 16tb each
Just wondering on how M1 handles on Creating 4k video and running a few basic games like Civ or bootcamping to win 10/11

    • @regularguyreviews8002
      @regularguyreviews8002  2 года назад +1

@@LonleyCopy As far as I know bootcamp is not an option on the M1 chip I've looked, I think the option would be to do it in a virtual machine but once you turn off the mac I would think you'd have to reinstall everytime, I'm not real familiar with that way. 8gb is enough for my channel thats what i've been using, it won't be a speed demon but it will handle it. Depending on the amount of layers used in final cut average 20 min 4k video renders from 2 to 3 minutes. If you use adobe I would spring for the 16 gb and even that might bog down, adobe isn't streamlined fully for the M1 or M2 silicon yet. Light to moderate final cut work though should be no problem for the base mac mini 8gb ram and 256gb storage, you have external storage already so your good on that end, render speed will also depend on your hdd speed. But the base M1 mini should cut through with no dropped frames and no hiccups

That’s a tough question to answer so close to a hardware announcement from apple. That being said going along the lines of the MacBook airs, because I kinda consider the Mac mini the air of desktops, the M1 is still very capable especially the 16gb/512 model. The M2 hasn’t even been announced yet and it would come down to the price increase of the M2. A lot of people are choosing the M1 MacBook Air over the M2 because of heat and throttle issues. Will we on the Mac mini suffer the same fate? If I was in the market today I would go with the tried and proven M1, and give apple time to work out issues with the M2 if any are gonna come up. Apple products normally don’t loose value quickly. So maybe go the M1 for now and upgrade towards the end of the M2 cycle, you’ll save money and any issues will be out in the open before you sell the M1 and update to the M2. I normally run last year apple products, I rock a 12 pro max just purchased and run a base M1 Mac mini even though the newest is right around the corner, we know the issues with both products and can work with them. As long as your not editing a Disney Pixar movie the M1 will be more then enough for the average consumer in our current economy.

@@regularguyreviews8002 How much Ram does your Mini use while idling(no apps open)? I have been hearing that 13 of the 16GB were being used by just the OS after Monterey updates and I was concerned that just a few years might have already impacted any future proofing the 16GB might have once offered at launch.
