- And if the music stops
There's only the sound of the rain
All the hope and glory
All the sacrifice in vain
And if love remains
Though everything is lost
We will pay the price,
But we will not count the cost
And if love remains...
"Bravado" off of the "Roll The Bones" album. Видеоклипы
one of Geddy's less challenging bass lines, but probably one of the most effective and powerful in my opinion.
Bravado: marked in my soul since 19 years.
Great job... congratulations & thanks Doctore!!!.
From Lima, Perú.
@tigermba2004
A very powerful song it is. On this album and Presto before it, the band was more interested in crafting powerful, well written songs over complex and intricate ones. To me, this song is to "Roll The Bones" what "The Pass" was to "Presto".
I couldn’t agree more. This is quickly becoming my favorite time period for Rush. Bought Roll The Bones in ‘91 right after it came out when I was 13
As usual, he played just what the song required.
I just got my first bass guitar last week (fender player jazz bass) and this was the first song I jumped on. Watching this video has been so very helpful.
That's great to hear. I hope that you derive as much satisfaction from playing as I have/do. Good choice, this song is a pretty good place to start off with Rush.
If you ever start singing with these, and sound exactly like Geddy you're gonna floor me ha ha. You sound great, man.
Excellent job, excellent sound
Bravo Sir! Once again, you are educational and entertaining at the same time. Thank you for covering one of my favorite songs
Very nice Troy. Very nice. Thanks for covering it.
Thanks for posting these, I love watching you play, and with a 1 million years or hard work and dedication I shall one day play like yourself. I also have learned a fair bit from watching. Thanks again. Lynn From Scotland. PS Love the masks.
Thanks a lot, it's flattering to think I've inspire anyone; the depressing I can understand.
For a pretty simple run like that, I remember vividly having a bit of a struggle with it.
Thank you for this!
It was my pleasure. Thank you for watching, and taking the time to comment!
Nice of you to say. Thanks.
My favorite off Roll The Bones. Thanks!
great vid as always.. keep on rushin!
Thanks for the cover, great tone, this is the first Rush song I'm learning and using your video as a guide. Cheers
Thanks. Have fun with it.
Thank you.
@LtMocha
Thank you very much.
great song, great bass playing!
Thank you.
hells yeah!!!!! i love playing this song and geddy's wal sounds awesome on the entire roll the bones album.. and the guitar solo along with the cool bass fill is just so perfect :) smiley
@caryd67
Thank you. I hadn't thought of "Superconductor" but will give it a listen.
@GangsterOfBoats93
Yes. Simple yet powerful. Thanks.
@Zubao
Thank you. I'm glad you liked the video.
On this bass I use GHS Boomers - light gauge. I did put a set of Rotosounds on my Rickenbacker. They seem to have less tension, which is nice, but, IMO, are not as bright and have a "tackiness" of "stickyness" to them that I had to get used to.
No effects or preamp. Just a little microphone in front of my amp which is set very, very low. I give a brief description of what I do in the left column of my channel.
Take care, Troy
You did the song justice. In my humble opinion, very nice job. One of my favorites.
Well done sir! Such a beautiful song. So much emotion. I always loved hearing this one at their shows. The concert version seems to keep building and building. Powerful.
p.s: I love how your Geddy looks without the pickguard. Nice move!
@vtx1300dave
Don't hold your breath for that to happen, though my wife says she can hear singing me while I'm mowing the lawn with my i-pod playing. Thanks Dave.
@JimmyJames714
Happy Birthday! And thank you.
Thanks.
@lrondona
Thank you very much.
Thank you for watching and commenting, I appreciate both of those things. Especially hearing that you've picked up a thing or two.
Some people have natural musical talent and abilities - I most definitely do not. I haven't been around a million years yet but I've been playing for quite some time and when I was young, I used to play/practice a ridiculous amount of time.
Most of the masks are from Death Studios. Jeff is a great fellow.
my fav.
it's a pity that we're so distant! you surely can give me some bass lessons!
greeting from Italy
Great cover ! It's one my fav...smooth,great bass line ! Like the feel they gave to it ! BTW,like the way u do starting 4:12 to end...Great work !
Hey Hi Roy ! I just wanted to say that since I've watched your red barchetta cover, I just kept checking your vids and they've really helped me practicing on my bass, thanks alot and keep up the great work !
If you could make a cover of Between the sun & moon one day, I'd be really thankfull !
forgot to say...big thanks for these videos. Inspire and depress in equal measures! I now know the run at 2.25, and thats been bugging me for ages :-)
@francker14
Thanks. I'm glad you've found some of the videos useful. I'll give "Between..." a listen and see if I could do something with it.
@21Rushisaband12
Thanks.
@BumDog2112
Thank you. It's been a while since they played this I think. They've got so much great material it's a shame that some has to be left out.
I took the pick guard off to adjust the truss rod and have since replaced it. If I'd have left it off I'm sure I would have lost it at some point.
@Dan441734
Thanks Dan. I've got a couple of yours on deck. I just haven't found the time yet but I will.
@lordertai
Thanks.
@constantine2112
Thanks. I started using my SansAmp pedal. It tends to even the sound out and give it a little more oomph.
Settings? I have a sans amp
@mdotn9
Thank you.

I met you looking for this song on RUclips, some time ago, and since that day I follow you, because you like RUSH as much as I do. I think you're the best bass youtuber I've seen with the best covers of this band 👏👏👏👏. Greetings from Chile 🇨🇱
P.d.: I also play the bass ✌
Thank you so much.
@Legionbass19
Thank you. I'd never do anything to hurt Geddy, though I have been trying to get in contact with Tanya Harding.
I only got 2 presents on my BDay today & I think of this as 1 of them. Lyrically, wonderful tune. No tutorial needed, but all those that wanna check out a good steady 8th note groove at its best should watch this 42 times. Cool fills. The 'Ghost Note' stuff @ the end was really the S%#t though.
Lyrically my favourite Rush tune. Can't see any tutorial requests arriving for this one somehow...Thanks for posting.
Ps. Is the pickguard gone for good this time?
Beautiful cover, professor. I've always loved "Bravado." It felt like such a departure from their traditional milieu, dripping with such mood and atmosphere. And I love Geddy Lee's voice in this key. I think that's why I'm so high on their cover of "The Seeker."
By the way, sir, what are the chances of you covering "Crossroads"? I know you'll have to fight against the inherent feedback in the recording (pun intended), but boy, I'd love to see that.
Thanks. I partial to this song as well. Hadn't thought about Crossroads.
@FearOfTheDark987
One of my favorite lyrics as well.
The pickgaurd has since been reinstalled. I did this video a few weeks back.
This is one of my favorite tunes they have performed live...GREAT job Troy as usual. Nice use of mid's to bring out the exact Geddy Bass sound on this album...WALbass?
Once again, congratulations man!! Bravado is one of my favorite Rush's songs!! But anyway, are you using Rotosound strings? And are you using any DI, compressor or perhaps a pre-amp? Thank you very much! And I watch your channel everytime I want to learn a Rush song, you rock!!
*Between sun & moon
Like a surgeon
The Weird Al song? Haha... just kidding. Thanks.
Awesome cover! Where the pickguard on the guitar?
brazil sente muito pela morte de neil,rip neil

Thanks. In the drawer.
I'm not much of an instructor but thanks.
Take care.
@Javic2112
Thanks.
