Herbert Johnson not here in Australia. Think Honda stoped selling the Accord here because of poor sales. The 6 and Camry are our competitors. The camry has been getting caught up quick. Wouldn’t buy a Toyota at all after sitting in a Mazda. Toyota just looks worse, handles worse, interior is garbage compared to Mazda, and the value for money is not anywhere near as good as Mazda’s. Don’t see the appeal whatsoever.
OMG! I went and test drove one of these last week; it was awesome! I owned a 2006 Avalon Touring for 12 years before it was totaled in an accident several months ago. The '06 was awesome. Super reliable and could smoke the tires at takeoff. I didn't think the TRD was worth the extra money over a normal model but I'm still thinking of getting another Avalon. Great video as always!
Been saying this for a while. Toyota just trademarked 'GR Corolla' and they have a hatchback concept already. I'd love to see that or a TRD version released.

I really like the exhaust note. Would've liked to seen a rwd or awd version though. And I'm not sure what to think of the grill. But it certainly stands out. And it's kinda cool to see people looking at it and thinking ...what is that?

I have looked at this car, the problem with that huge front end is called a parking spot. Either you don't pull all the way in, or you are going to scrape the heck out of that snout. Smaller front ends fit okay but not that one. Turning circle as Sarah does a great job pointing out is also subpar. Love the review. They won't do AWD however in a sedan, they save that for Lexus only.
I rather have size and smoother ride. My car right now only has 260hp so 300hp in the avalon would be a step up. I love cars but i honestly never use the full speed of my car. I live in a highly populated area so it hardly gets full use
Well, I guess this confirms my weirdness. Picked up a 2020 white Avalon TRD two weeks ago. Love it, the front grille is a bit over done, but it performs better than my previous Avalon. I had a 1987 Supra and this has come the closest to that vehicle than any other Toyota.
I like little hot hatches. They should make a TRD Yaris with a turbo and a manual 6 speed. Wouldn't catch my Fiesta ST, but it would be fun in the corners with some sporty suspension and tires.

I have a 2011 Toyota Camry SE V6 with the sport suspension, my back seats don't fold down. I have gotten it up to 150 mph, but I must admit the new TRDs have a better suspension

Toyota is making the right step by offering the sporty looking trims for the young buyers. They are way more fun to drive compared to their regular counterparts even though they have the same power.

I like the way you think! I had an idea of a 2012 Chevy Cruze SS with the 1.8 and take the turbo off the 1.4 and throw it on with the 6 speed manual at 210hp. Or Colorado SS with the new LS 4.3 v6 rocking a 6 speed manual and an extreme body kit lowered 2 inch all around on 16x8 with 245/50/r16 using all Chevy parts bin.
Rumor has it this will be one of their all electric vehicles in a couple years. Son in law has worked for Toyota design team the last 5 years. They’re working on a design to eliminate all the many intake air vents, etc which will revolutionize the appearance of the car. Another rumor, entire vehicles will become batteries essentially so that touring distance will absolutely expand beyond today’s distance.
I'm not as big a fan of the grill as you. I think the Camry TRD has a much better looking front end, the rest of it looks really good. Agree, needs more power and all wheel drive.
Toyota recently introduced an all wheel drive Camry and Avalon, it's a shame that they chose the 4 cylinder as the sole engine for that drivetrain though. The V6 with a supercharger, AWD, a lowered stance and a little less aero/body kit this would make an awesome sleeper, basically Toyotas' version of a Taurus SHO.

The front end bothered me greatly until you said it looks pissed off. At that point my opinion changed. Otherwise I think it's an awesome car, great review too.
I love that it exists too but I'd dial back the "body kit and rims" look. If this doesn't have the bird's-eye view camera system (and I don't know if Toyota does that), that front lip and/or the rims are gonna look rough after a misjudged curb or two.

I got a 2020 fully loaded but the Trd and I’m still happy with my car

I never thought I'd see an Avalon with some personality. That rear quarter view reminds me of a late 90's Grand Prix though.
The Aussies used to have one a few years ago that I lusted over but it's nice that Toyota has graced us with one.

The Predator inspired Avalon TRD is better than the Camry TRD. I just wish the front grill had more air flow and fewer blocked sections.
CHR needs a TRD model because it could be a fun little crossover with a turbo and a Manuel.

Transmission just isnt a good match for sporty driving. The ratios are spread out that the revs drop too much between gear changes.
