Three years ago I purchased a slightly used 2010 Avalon XLS with 40K miles . Garage kept , Now it’s got 76K miles runs like a dream. Best car I ever had.
You could NOT be more right... My wife happened into an 03 Avalon at 90k miles (from the estate of a long-time employer) and as soon as I drove it, I began a year-long search for another Gen2 Avalon for me. Finally found an 01 at 61k with receipts for every technician's touch since it had 100 miles on it. These are BY FAR the best cars we've ever owned, and that includes a 1969 BMW 2001, which held the top spot until Kittie's 03 came along.
My Dad bought a 2000 Avalon new, kept it for a few years and then passed it down to my brother. Brother kept it for a long time, drove the heck out of it and then passed it down to me. By the time I got it it was showing its age but mechanically it was solid. My ex wife drove it into a freeway guard rail and pretty much ended its useful life. Would definitely recommend it if a friend asked my advice.
I just recently acquired a 2003 Avalon XLS from a family friend with 73K miles on it. One owner, always garaged and in excellent condition. At first I thought these were ugly cars that only old people drive. But after owning it for 9 months and 10k miles, I have fallen in love with it. My mom still has her 2001 XL Avalon with 55k miles on it.
My 03 Avalon XLS has 300,000 miles on it... Original engine and still runs like clock work. Original timing belt went 220K. Incredibly reliable and comfortable vehicle. Rear struts are original as well.
I have a 2002 Avalon XL with 84k miles. Was my grandmother's car up until 2016 when it only had 16k miles. I've had a problem though with the PCV valve and system with the 1MZ though. One shop said the valve was leaking so I replaced it which took like 5 minutes. It seems to be covered in oil gunk again though and there's sludge in the oil fill area when you take the oil cap off. You wouldn't know anything was wrong though. It idles and operates very smooth, just something I discovered with mine. The dealer has never mentioned this issue.
I had a friend who owned a ‘02 Avalon. Her older sister bought it with only 250 miles. She still has it with OVER 400K mile! Cold AC, little shaky but hey!
@@wholeNwon Confidentiality, the car had better years with the older sister...not the case anymore...she’s gonna push it till it breaks (literal) even offered to sell it for $300.. 🤔
@@TheRealHungryJoe The problem is that it could well "break" while driving at sufficient speed to kill her and/or others when controlling it suddenly becomes impossible. There are parts of the suspension and steering that MUST work or the car will be completely uncontrollable.
@@wholeNwon I tried to offer help! Can’t help those who don’t want the help! I’m convinced these older models are just as reliable, if not more, then newer high tech Avalons
I have a 2003 with almost 300,000 miles i do all of the maintenance myself. Oil, changes, timing belts, etc. and suspension stuff. I have had this car since I’ve got married in 2017 I had a Lincoln town car before that piece of crap always breaking the Toyota. Avalon has got me through some rough patches in my life. it drove me from Chicago all the way back to North Carolina. It drove me when I had the flu and Covid. It takes me to work every day. It’s taking me to the beach. It’s taking me to the mountains. It’s taking me all the way down to Florida once. I have used it like a truck moving stuff with it putting stuff on the roof but this car just keeps going. It’s never let me down.
You sound exactly like my and my 1997 avalon has 244440 miles exactly. Taking me to the mountains where trucks are afraid to go in winter. Kept me safe in Montanas Negative 🥶 weather.
My 2004 Toyota Avalon XLS 208,000 miles runs like a champ. Purchased it in 2007 from Elmhurst Toyota a western suburb of Chicago, Illinois as a certified reconditioned auto. I think I can easily drive it to over 300,000. What I like most is the very smooth and comfortable drive. The view from the drivers seat is perfect. I can see everything in front of me while driving. The Toyota Avalon models after 2004 have front windshields that are positioned at a lower angle to the hood of the car ( like a sports car ) resulting in less front view.
The mid- 2000's Toyotas were amazing and this is where Toyota quality peaked to its highest levels. I still have my 2005 Camry LE with over 350,000 kms. Runs like a champ. Toronto, Ontario, Canada.
@@petermuniz9296 that has nothing to do with quality and reliability ,leaking oil is simply wear and tear , you have a 1995 model car which means it is nearly 27 years old , some brand new cars leak oil
@@DScott-be7pg if my transmission failed, that would be enough motivation for me to do something about it. I don't need to watch someone else do something.

I own this car. Had it for 9 yrs now. Very nice to drive. I bought it with 43k miles in 2013. Now it has 250k. I have payed for several repairs over the years. Still love it. Worth the money.
@@4nik8 Hello, here is a list of repairs done. not in any order. 100k mile service - includes water pump, timing belt & gear - done twice. new struts on all wheel points at 180K replace front brakes 3x, rear brakes 1x replace battery 2x replace tires every 60K yearly replace wipers and air filter. I think that is it.
@@scottmason2447 I just bought a 2001 Avalon with 166k miles. It's mostly just fine with a couple of issues like vibration at highway speed and a rough idle. I'm taking it in to a Toyota mechanic soon to give it a once over and see what needs to be fixed overall. Your list of repairs was very helpful to see what might lie in my future. Thanks!
@@KikiRevenge Finding a good mechanic is hard. that vibration at highway speed could be anything. tire out of balance or alignment. best of luck with the car.
2001 Avalon XLS was my first car at 15. Ava was her name and she lasted from age 15 to 22 before she got salvaged by other drivers. I paid 4k and got 4.5k worth of insurance over those 7 years. 273,000 miles and I put over 150k on her myself. Still got her badges just because I had to lol. Besides my current 08 Urban Runner she was the car of my dreams.
@@erickenglish1799 Just keep the oil changed every 5,000 miles. It just turned 401,000 miles this past week. I also have a 1997 Accord with 457,000 miles on it.
My 1MZ Engine in my 2002 ES300 is amazing. I’m the second owner bought it in April 2021 with 161,000 miles. It was serviced at a local Lexus dealership according to the Lexus owners website from day one. the timing belt was done at 88,000 miles also new water pump and valve cover gasket. Last summer had a certified mechanic change out all four struts because the original rear ones were leaking, changed out the original AC compressor (was squealing) and original alternator. All of these parts lasted 19 years which proves the longevity and durability of Toyota/Lexus. Everything works nothing is broken, the car is solid and tight not a creek or rattle anywhere I Did my first synthetic oil change last year at 5k miles. I’ll be keeping this car for 10 plus years!
I worked as a salesman at a Toyota dealership in 2004 and recall selling many of these. Yes, they are great cars. I always felt like the Avalon was the Toyota nobody seemed to know about. Obviously, the Camry was/is their best seller, so the Avalon was somewhat overshadowed by it. But dollar for dollar, mile for mile, I think the Avalon is Toyota’s best value. I’m no longer selling cars, but I did just recently buy a very nice, pre owned 2018 Avalon. I love it, too!
My 2000 Camry V6 has about 247,000 kms. Engine & Transmission runs smoothly. Compared to modern Toyotas, I really like the 90s design. It's simple, classic and well made.
I own one of each, 2008 Solara SLE convertible with 41k miles, 2019 Avalon Hybrid Limited with advanced safety package, and a 2021 Sequoia Platinum (pulls our 2022 Airstream).
@@ozarkliving7263 I have a 2005 Lexus RX330, 2010 Rav4 and a 2005 Toyota Solara. The Solara has a virgin engine bay at 130K miles. Nothing touched. My RX330 and Rav4 are both made in Japan but I’ve had to replace and steering pump on the Lexus and an alternator on the Rav4. Nothing done to the Solara under the hood. Nothing, except serpentine and battery. I do have my eyes on an Avalon. I want an older one, 05-11 with the 3.5 V6. A nice cruiser with some balls when you mash the pedal.
@@ozarkliving7263 Since you have both, I would LOVE your opinion on the Solara VS. Avalon. Can't decide between the "smaller" Solara (coupe) or the larger Avalon (2010 or so year).
Thank you for confirming what I thought since I owned an 01 Avalon. Absolutely the best car I ever owned and wish they never stopped making the model in that configuration.
My youngest is still driving our 2001 Avalon XLS. Only problem we ever had was the oxygen sensor went out once. Changed the timing belt, plugs, front struts, and Water pump at 120K and still going. Drove it 22 hours last year one way to South Dakota without a hiccup.
I would change the whole rack - outer to outer tie rods - change the timing belt, dog bone and of course the oil and filter, if it was mine. In the fall check the brakes and probably replace before the snow flies. We all would like a Toyota that nice.
Just bought a 2000 Avalon and I have been fixing numerous problems like idle control motor, water pump, timing belt, seals, battery, washer pump, silencer muffler, and some body dings. Everything previous owner had neglected before deciding to get rid of. This is common with a lot of car owners in my opinion. Good News is there are no oil leaks or oil consumption after 3000 miles. Car Care Nut is right it drives like a freeway flyer the car floats and is super quiet inside. I appreciate you going over this car mine is in a little better shape it seems and has higher mileage on it. Thanks again and it’s hard to find videos on this car with a quality mechanic.
@@glennnichols4220 Well to me that is a lot of things to ignore and still be driving the car everyday. But if you are selling it in a sellers market it will make sense.
It seems quite worth it to replace all those worn items, given that engine and transmission are otherwise robust. They are incredibly fortunate to have you in their lives to inspect and identify what needs attention
This gen Avalon interior seems to be in better shape then my third gen. Mrs. Car Care Nut has a steady hand with the camera. She’s great. God bless you
The 1st generation Avalon was offered with a bench seat. A six passenger full size vehicle because Toyota tried to compete in the police car market. But, the Crown Vics and Impalas still dominated the market.
I have a 98 Avalon XLS with the split bench up front. I have yet to find another Avalon with this six place seat option and I always check, Will stop if/when I find one. Love my Avalon with over 250K miles. I have refreshed steering, suspension and AC. Great highway car.
They are definitely nice. The reason I went with a Camry was they're plentiful in salvage yards. I've gotten some good used parts there. When I buy a used car, since I can work on it myself, I just replace most wear out parts. When I bought my used 99 camry, I replaced the timing belt, water pump and the 2 pulleys. I'd recommend doing the oil pump seals too, as mine went bad a couple years later. Lesson learned. I just did the cam and crank seals last year. I just bought another one from Florida, like new, replaced everything in one process. I've a new valve cover gasket, and that plug where the distributor used to go yet to replace. I've done this too on my old one. I learned a lot along the way, that's another reason I've stuck with this year and make. Oh, toyota parts are GREAT and prices are not bad. I've 95,000 miles on my older cars timing belt and water pump, both Toyota brand. I'll probably change them soon, but that's another great thing, non interference engine. If only they had dipsticks for the transmission, I wanted to buy a new one. It should of been an option, I'd of paid it.
I love my 2014 Avalon with (140k miles) but sometimes wish that I had the Camry. I have a peeling interior trim piece and a worn out driver seat. It's been nearly impossible to find used replacements for both.
Been following Scotty for a few years now and really like him. Just found THIS channel today (subscribed) and if he's better than Scotty going forward, then I will be impressed.
When I first bought my Avalon I put a set of cheap strut assemblies on it but soon found out the hard way that cheap isn't the way to go. They didnt last very long and I recently replaced the front struts again with a pair of KYB assemblies and it was a night and day difference.
When we got our newest to us Toyota, they put OE Spectrum Quickstruts on them and in about eight months, the car would oscillate back and forth so hard as if there were no struts and just springs when going up a driveway from a turn. KYB struts made it like a new ride.
I genuinely hope you manage to get your hands on a 80's or 90's Toyota Cressida. My first car was a 1983 Toyota Cressida DX. I LOVED THAT THING. Fantastic video 🙏
I have a 2000 Avalon for 10 years bought with 124k miles in 2012 and now have 320k miles and still runs smooth. Changed out the alternator at 190k, vvt oil control valve at 205k and all original engine transmission and even starter. The 1mzfe does burn big amounts of oil like a 2 quarts every 3k miles but it still runs smooth
My 2006 rav 4 burns oil too 1 quart every 1200 miles.. I have 160k on it now so I started using oil additive restore it’s called and now I’m using 1quart every 1500 miles or so I just started using it for 9k miles it’s says the more u use it the better it will get too.. also the engine runs so quiet and smooth too
@@rawniew No leaks at all especially not that bad. It puffs out blue smoke out the back sometimes. Definitely burning oil. The previous owner did oil changes every 8k to 10k mile intervals which was totally wrong and that caused sludge in it and causes it to burn oil.
@@Travelingcarguy1 yeah that'll do it haha. These engines in general don't have the piston ring issues that the next gen motors did. But they aren't neglect proof
So over the years my father would order a pearl white Avalon just about every two years because he got a car allowance from Toyota he worked for the forklift division of them so he’s had all generations of Avalon 1996, he would Drop ship them to the San Ramon distribution parts center, this generation wasn’t half bad, my father owned three of them I actually liked the 1996 model and then his 2007 after that I noticed that the quality has gone way downhill!
Hi AMD! I am watching your channel for some time now and because of your honest reviews, information and opinions (which i appreciate so so much) i've decided to buy a Toyota vehicle. To be honest i was considering it before i found your channel, but your professionalism pushed me forward. The only problem is (and i need your advice), i am picking between Toyota Camry and Corolla (up to year 2010, and not the V6 ones, because of financial reasons). I live in Europe and i believe there are some slight differences between U.S models and European. Please, give me an advice on which model years and engines are great to buy from your knowledge and experience, and which ones i should avoid. Thank you!
Man it depends on your needs bc both are slightly different, in my understanding Europe has narrow streets and fuel prices a lil higher than 🇺🇲, so on that matter go for the Corolla (which is widely popular in my country 🇳🇮 NCA but I live in the US) , i drive A 1998Camry, bc i wanted more space in the back seat and the trunk capacity is huge, the ride is smoother and road noise is very low , but it's a bigger car, so fuel ⛽ is lil more, unless you go for the 4cyl.. They are ultra reliable as long as you keep regular maintenance in check.
@@jimjam36695 yeah, i watched it a couple of times now, and i am making decisions based on it. The only issue is figuring out what differences there are between the recommended model years and engines in U.S and Europe. I guess i will have to do a deep search on that. Thank you!
@@Drskopf that's the point, there are many choices between those two models and all the array of engines and drivetrains they offer. Reliability is my priority, that's why i am asking for help on deciding which variant is best (in European market). And sure gas prices are sky high right now, that's why i am not looking at V6, which would be the perfect choice (if picking Camry). And mainly i'm looking at Corolla with three different options : 1.4l, 1.6l or 1.8l engine (all with manual transmission). Like i said, i'm trying to find out which of these are inherently most reliable. But thank you for the help and tips!
I have 2004 Avalon XLS with 96k on it. I’m driving 52 years and this is the best car I’ve ever owned. It has every thing you would want in a car. It’s super peppy, gets good m.p.g., rides great and tons of room in the interior and a huge trunk. In my opinion it’s the best generation of Avalon which ran from 2000 to 2004. I’ve owned a 2000, 2002, 2003. They’re all good cars but I think the 2004 is the best. The Avalon shares many parts with the Lexus without the hefty price tag. If you can find one that doesn’t have very high milage it’s a great car. They really hold there value so don’t expect to get one dirt cheap. U
Sad as it is to say, it seems it's almost better to deal with the older model Toyotas (certain years) than to chance dealing with some of the later years with low tension rings, head bolt issues, torque converter/transmission flaws, timing cover leaks, etc.
I just found and purchased a 2007 Toyota Camry XLE with only 61,000 miles, no accidents, one owner, a carfax with the vast majority of maintenance done at either a Thomasville GA, or Tallahassee FL Toyota dealership. This car is pretty much mint inside and out, I paid $11,500, yeah a little high, but the price of high mileage junk was even higher.
I have a 2007 Toyota Avalon and I absolutely love it. Before I owned a 2002 Toyota Solara with the same V6 as this Avalon in the video, it was very reliable!! It got me to 306,000 miles and still sold it at that point, it's still running around.
Since you have both, I would LOVE your opinion on the Solara VS. Avalon. Can't decide between the "smaller" Solara (coupe) or the larger Avalon (2010 or so year).
I have a 2004 Avalon xls I paid $1,800 used 264k miles. It was a rough ride when I looked at it but engine was so quite. I replaced all struts f & r with the only oem Sachs or what I went with Japan made kyb. 2004 was an odd year with parts in 2005 new gen. It’s a nice ride now but parts were a headache. Listings that said would fit didn’t sat on the tire had to send back. All in all great car. I’ve seen that 3.0 vvti is in fact non interference engine it won’t hit anything if belt breaks a guy demonstrated it with a junkyard engine it didn’t hit anything but that’s just what I’ve discovered . Love the video man keep up great work
I ran into the same problem with my 05 suburu legacy, the parts for the 04 actually work, the ones for 05 & 06 don't work? Even though it's a 2005?! But I ran into many problems with parts not fitting correctly, so I looked up parts for an 04, 9 out of 10 worked, so I know the pain!
I have a 2003 Avalon XLS, looks exactly like this one! 175K miles. It has a rattle in the back when going over bumps, so I need to have that checked out, but other than that, it's an AMAZING car!

Bought an 96 Avalon recently. Love it so much. Run so smooth. I only had a hard time finding the correct steering rack boots. All aftermarket parts I tried won't fit nicely. Thank you for the tour of your neighbors Avalon. I have a 2004 Volvo S80 with 174k miles. Like the Avalon it has held up quite well. It does need things from time to time, yet it’s a lot less expensive than to replace it outright.
I have a 2000 Avalon XL that I bought about 4 years ago. I put a new timing belt, water pump, spark plugs, valve cover gaskets, and struts on it right after I bought it. I owned 2005, 2006 and 2008 limited, all 3 have over 250,000 miles and the most expensive repairs were ac parts inside the dashboard and changing spark plugs… that’s ittttt, everything else just regular maintenance. I don’t like the 2013 or newer models because they don’t have the same interior space as mine does.
GREAT & thorough review on the Avalon! I drive a 2015 & they are such solid cars! Not given enough recognition. Thanks for taking the time to film & edit for us!
Just bought a 2001 avalon from an older couple with 94k miles. All dealer maintained with a mile of reciepts. Im 27, drive like a grandpa hope to have it for many years to come.
Bought an 06 today, 282,000 miles and clean as a whistle. Full maintenance logs from dealer. She was a little bitty thing and the driver seat looks hardly worn. I am doing the timing belt out of precaution. Probs had it done at dealer as it was serviced every 5000 miles. 3500 bucks and I feel like I just bought the best car I ever owned and for a tenth of the price of my last car. A drivers dream
It’s a shame that Toyota is no longer making the Avalon, i’m not sure but I heard that they are bringing the crown back to the states which is the same thing as the Avalon. I only hope that is true.

Thank you for taking the time to make these valuable videos. Question on my 2000 Tundra 4.7 that many people also may have. On low mileage vehicles like mine when should you change the timing belt? It was changed at about 90k 10 years ago. Now it has about 110k on it. What is the time limit one is safe at when mileage isn't there?
My 2006 Ltd CC 4X4 has just passed 100K and runs near perfectly. I have owned since new off delivery truck in 05 and have kept maintained, only needing to replace Alternator and VC gaskets/plug tube seals plus PCV, plugs and a few ignition Coils. O2 sensors and MAF are coming soon. Still planning on changing it at 125-130K though often 200K is reached no problem. When I do go in am going to replace every cam seal, tensioner, hidden hoses and perhaps even the starter so as not to need repeat teardown. Age, however, is an enemy that cannot be denied! Thanks for your expertise.
@@TheCarCareNut I had my timing belt replaced on my 03 avalon at 192,000. I bought it with 172,000 and replaced it because the sticker showed it was due. Love your videos, thank you for all you do and congrats on the new shop.
My 01 Lexus ES300 had the 1MZ motor. It was pushing 300k before I traded it in. It survived a bad oil sludge issue at 223k and a transmission rebuild. It was a tough car but I do not miss dealing with the timing belts!
I've recently dealt with the engine sludge issue at 270k. I thought she was terminal. But after 7 cans of brake cleaner and 3 degreasers. Changed all seals and new spark plugs. She's purring like a kitten again. Plus I can take off my brown paper bag everytime I start her up. If you're a 1MZFE owner. You'll know what I mean. hahaha.
Hope you can help explaining exactly how you got rid of the sludge effectively. I'm having major sludge problem and am considering doing 2 Liqui Moly engine flushes back to back. Supposedly clogging filters or lines is not an issue with these. But I hope to hear something already tried and effective. Thanks.

Hello sir I have a really big question on how to maintain my 2005 Toyota Corolla 2005 LE. I have been looking everywhere for simple answers for maintenance and only your videos have been even close to simple. It’s been so confusing and honestly more aggravating than I thought. Anyway the car has 135000 miles and runs great, I got it when it had 68000 miles and have been just doing oil changes mainly and had an inspection at 115000 miles and the guy said it was in great shape. I am a DIY guy and am replacing the brakes, rotors and wheel bearings because it needs it but I have huge questions concerning what type of liquids to use for my car. Oil I use Mobil 1 5w-30, but I don’t know anything about the transmission fluids and am too scared to use any fluids I should not. I also don’t know which coolant to use because the coolant in my corolla is clear and I thought it was suppose to be red or pink. Should I flush out the clear coolant and put in the red or pink? Is there any other fluids I should change out and please tell me how often to do so for my corolla. I want it to last at least 300k miles

I got my 03 Camry for 7,500$ last march, with only 94,000 miles it's a 1 owner car too.

Everything works nothing is broken, the car is solid and tight not a creek or rattle anywhere
I Did my first synthetic oil change last year at 5k miles. I’ll be keeping this car for 10 plus years!
Another honest inspection of a timeless Toyota gem from the past. Good job AMD. God bless you and your family as well 🙌🙌
I worked as a salesman at a Toyota dealership in 2004 and recall selling many of these.

It is like you are reading my mind. I have a Suburban getting 16mpg and have been thinking of getting an Avalon for our family of four.
They do have a trans dipstick but it's upside down and internal.

When I first bought my Avalon I put a set of cheap strut assemblies on it but soon found out the hard way that cheap isn't the way to go. They didnt last very long and I recently replaced the front struts again with a pair of KYB assemblies and it was a night and day difference.
yeah agreed. i put detroit axle struts in mine all around, and i feel like they are already failing.
When we got our newest to us Toyota, they put OE Spectrum Quickstruts on them and in about eight months, the car would oscillate back and forth so hard as if there were no struts and just springs when going up a driveway from a turn. KYB struts made it like a new ride.

If you can find one that doesn’t have very high milage it’s a great car. They really hold there value so don’t expect to get one dirt cheap.

There is a mouse in the car! 😮 It is filmed by your camera twise approximately around the time you speak about seeing the dropplings! ! ! Maybe it wanted to help you make the point about mouses in cars 😉
I bought a used 2014 avalon with 15k miles on it back in 2017. The car is cherry. Has now 60k miles on it. Hoping for many more years with this tank.
How is the ride? I love my 2013 but the ride is very harsh. Terrible really. Lol. Otherwise a beautiful car
Cherry. But I believe 2013 and 14 are the same. I got the XLE trim package. But it rides okay.
Nice video.
Could you do a review on a 2007 Corolla? It's bulletproof and would love to hear your comments as you have this Avalon.
Thanks
My Aunt and Uncle Bought a Used Corolla I think it was a 1974 Model, and they drove it forever.
My '03 Highlander V6 4wd is a keeper. 40k miles.
I have a xse car like yours will you change my transmission oil? Love the video's!!!
I would! The schedule is a bit backed up now but should get better by June
Love your videos!! How can i set a date for late summer for transmission flush i have xse camry like yours but mine is 2019! Im not far from Orland area! Thanks
Hi! After 10-12 years I would consider replacing it
My 2006 Ltd CC 4X4 has just passed 100K and runs near perfectly.
I bought used about 3 yrs ago, I am 3rd owner. It was very well maintained previously. I've done the timing belt, water pump, tensioner pulley, struts, brakes. That's it and it's now got 206,000 and running perfect. I have the oil chgd every 5,000. So, as you said in the reply to the person previously, do you think its ok to wait 10-12 years to replace the timing belt again? Also why is there so many different answers online about whether it's an interference engine or not? Have you known of one w the VVTI to break and whether damage did occur to the engine? Love your videos, thank you for all you do and congrats on the new shop.
The steering is s"floatie". Let's make "floatie" our word of the day. Another informative video by Ahmed.
You'll know what I mean. hahaha.
@@inasingtr Where did you put brake cleaner?
@@inasingtr where did you?
Hope you can help explaining exactly how you got rid of the sludge effectively. I'm having major sludge problem and am considering doing 2 Liqui Moly engine flushes back to back. Supposedly clogging filters or lines is not an issue with these. But I hope to hear something already tried and effective. Thanks.
Hey man I really like how you take your time to explain all the details. I'm a Toyota fan myself, I have owned a Toyota altezza, Toyota starlet and I currently own a Scion xA and Toyota glanza 1.3L with ct9 hybrid turbo and front mount intercooler. Keep up the good work, cheers.
I have the 2003 Avalon XLS and it's the best car I've purchased. So smooth and comfortable I gave it to my Dad and now wanna get another for me hahaha. Still got some small issues but nothing major
Is there a way to replace the strut boots? Mine are falling apart.
Hi! Yes you can but you’d need to take the strut apart
What would you coat the brake lines with?
Grease or other oil based coating. But just spreading a thin coating of grease all along will be enough to permanently prevent rust.
Fluid film or even undercoating
I'm a maintenance fanatic, and I only take my Toyota to the dealership for servicing. I don't want aftermarket parts, installed by whomever, at the corner repair shop. No thanks.
My dad worked for Snap-On making sockets for 35 years. He took a lot of pride in his work. Love your videos!
The smile on his face when he was unscrewing the Toyota logo to take the engine cover off 😊. This guy is a true car care nut.
Absolute GOLD ;-)
My mechanic had his assistant replace my valve covers and i see hes less experienced with toyotas cause he somehow broke the toyota emblem while pulling cover off . I didn't realize until next day when I went to inspect work done.
i have a 2015 es 350. im so in love with lexus and toyota. that’s one of my prerequisites for a love interest(: i’d settle for someone with a honda.. MAYBE
The mid 90’s Camry and the original LS400 are also absolutely top notch cars that crapped all over anything American was offering.
fair mechanic ...! dont rip customers or force them to buy a new car....like most dealers do
Before buying our 2009 Toyota Aurion Presara we actually test drove a 2007 Avalon and it was beautiful extremely comfortable however we decided in the end to go for the later one we bought mostly because being the Presara it was top of the range and had everything you could think of in it standard. We have never regretted buying it as now it is 13 years old it is still a dream to drive, quiet and very good on the fuel being a 3.5V6 2GRFE very reliable and loved as one of my children. Love your honesty your professional and down to earth humanity AMD. Your one of the best my friend and a pleasure to watch your channel. Keep Safe Keep Strong My Friend
I will be looking at a 1 owner rust free 1999 Avalon XL with 205,000 miles next week, are there any things in particular I should look out for?
Hi! Maintenance is a big thing. Oil leaks and suspension especially the struts
Thank you, CCN for all you do! I am pickled tink with my 03' Avalon XLS. I purchased this with 67K and currently am approaching 120K. New timing belt, water pump - (only because of age), new Michelins all around, detailed and ceramic coated, ceramic window tint all around, new head unit (including backup camera). Yep, Toyota - this is one happy owner. This is my daily driver and will be for quite some time to come.. (maybe another 19 years?)
Update?
@@SPOT305 136k, ceramic tint holding up well after 5 years. I forgot to mention the Lloyd floor mats ( wonderful during the winter). Yep, still in love and driving happy!
@carlroberts1172 good to gear!
I have a 2008 Avalon. I almost forget that I own it sometimes because it is so quiet. It performs day in and day out and rarely asks me for help. 220,000 miles and it has no signs of quitting in it.
Looks like you actually do real inspections, rather than other youtube guys /*Car Wizard*/ that just glance at a car and apply an excessive dose of arrogance
I`m myself is a proud owner of Toyota avalon 2012 limited.
My 2001 Avalon has 260K km. It still drives like a dream. :D
