Whats up everyone. Glad some of you are finding this video helpful. It's beena long time since I've made a video. Might upload an update video of where everyone is with their cars (hint: none of the cars are still around, except my STI). Hope to have the car back up soon, but not sure when that will be. Stay safe out there!
14:40 Best technique I've found for stud extraction is to spin on two nuts, separated by a lockwasher, and counter-rotate them to tighten them against each other. Then get an open end and spin out the INNER nut (so that loosening it moves in the tightening direction towards the other nut). Star washers might even be better. ViseGrips can and do damage threads.
Where can I buy a D16Z6? My Del Sol D15B7 is wearing out... Thanks for any tips! I'm in Nor Cal Near San Francisco, Novato, Richmond / Berkeley / Oakland...
@@DANIEL-ls5ku A D16Y7 is not VTEC. If you remove the valve cover, you’ll see it doesn’t have the higher profile cam lobes that are for VTEC. Also, look at the back of the head on the left side behind the dizzy. If you don’t see a VTEC solenoid, it’s a solid chance that it isn’t. A mini mi swap is essential replacing your stock y7 intake and stock head with a d16Y8 intake manifold and cylinder head. You also need to wire in the wire for VTEC I believe and maybe even change the ECU from an EX.
@@eddielarralde559 I see.. I've got a D16W1 engine none vtec and thinking of replacing it with a VTEC version, what should I be looking to do such project, which vtec would you recommend?
@@DANIEL-ls5ku honestly, I’d go with a D16Z6 or a D16Y8. That’s only if you’re gonna keep it D Series tho. But if you have the know how and financial capabilities, I’d go b series all the way.

That is the Common technique. Vice grips is just ignorant and dumb if you ask me bc u will do some damage.
This helped out lots thank you!

D16Y7 is not VTEC. Unless it has a Y8 head (mini me swap)
Can you please elaborate more?
