As a native New Yorker, I have been listening to Paul Weller since I was an early teen. Americans, who know good music are aware that Paul Weller is amazing.
It was the same thing with Oasis... what astonishes me is that things like this happens in the US meanwhile Bruce Springsteen, for example, becomes a hit in the UK and worldwide... it shouldn't, he's trash, we already have Neil Young, Dylan... US may say that Weller is "too British" and I say Bruce is "too american", same logic.
My absolut favorite song since i was a young boy. I still play that vinyl whenever i need to calm down and reflect my life. The old version is less rocking and more jazzy which touches my heart very much. Thank you Paul and the Style Council for that great work of art.
There are two old versions Sir. Original one sounds pretty much like the one Mr Weller plays here live. And there is one from Cafe Bleu that is slow and jazzy
What an incredibly beautiful live performance of the song in which I recognize a lot of myself. And what an incredibly beautiful orchestra you guys put in there. I've been a big fan of the Style Council since the early 80s. And NOW you guys are just still rock and roll. Lately I've been playing vinyl again and last year I bought your 1984 album Cafe Bleu again and this time on blue vinyl. Top notch music. Keep up the good work Paul Weller. Greetings from the Netherlands 😊😊
Definitely He writes and sings like someone who is not only amazing but also has a message to deliver about an uneven society and a terrible class system. What a shame that nobody today can get a message out there with their music
Um, excuse me... an American here. I was in graduate school when this song came out. The campus radio station played it to death, and I loved it - bought the Style Council album immediately. ...Oh, and Americans may know bugger all about music, but at least we knew Oasis were shiite the minute we heard them, so we ignored them too.
Paul Weller is the real deal , this music is from the 80s and still sounds f in amazing,,, it's all bullshit today ,,, paul Thankyou for your great sound ,, your a master ,,
@@andyinoregon indeed, I wish I had kept some of my 80s clothes 😂. Btw, that detail about remake of their own song didn’t go unnoticed, very impressive
OK, thanks for that. I think like Oasis, they were a bit too Brit centric. Ian Dury would be a prime other example as he was Brit or even London centric on steroids!
Oh My God.....Mr Weller....a God. His voice is still so FUCKING SICK ARRRGH This has brought back so many amazing good memories.....thank you soooooo much for uploading .......
I lived in Europe from 1982-1994, and heard the Jam before jeaving the States, and Style Council was big when I lived in the Netherlands, and I’ve been tracking Paul Weller ever since. Then I lived in Australia and S. Africa and most everybody knew who he was. Then I got back to the US and most people weren’t really aware of him (but probably heard some of the SC songs). On the other hand people talk about some of the huge groups and song here in the 20 years I was away and I’ve never heard of them before.
Love this song. Weller and company again prove their badass... ness, (is that a word?!). Anyone who turns on their Crybaby wah and pulls some brass in for good measure should be properly deified. That said, I don't understand people who "thumbs-down" live music videos. They must not be musicians or understand all that goes in to playing in front of a live audience, (nerves, getting the mix right... etc).
Wow! Always a Paul Weller fan. Great sounding live performance!!!! Funny thing, if you ever watch the original video for the song, your like, “what the heck”
First of all seen paul weller few times an seeing him live really shows how he is top shelf loved him since jam days however if u watch full convert when be says something after a track if its funnny guitarst drops 3 notes like a private joke within the band funny. Anybody else notice this? studio 150. Concert thanks uploader mr weller thank u to🙏
Paul Weller is a genius
That he is!

Greeks know it too ruclips.net/video/id1Xi9hVBz0/видео.html
Paul Weller playing MAKES SMILE and HAPPY!!!!!!! Love everybody on their feet!! They feel and hear the genius!
Saw Paul at Salle Peyel Paris on Tuesday. Just fantastic! One of the best gigs I've seen
Thank you for all your songs I have loved you from my favorite shop again thank you again Paul Weller ❤
One of my favorite Style Council songs...hey, he only gets BETTER with age! Paul really ROCKS OUT on this one!
He does just get better!
Probably the apex of British music when we had the fusion of Rock, Punk, Blues, Jazz & god knows what else running through our veins!
One of the greatest musicians for the last 40 years so.
The best guitarist
It's an absolute crime that they were virtually ignored in the United States.
I get asked who this is every time I play them.
The USA unfortunately misses out on a lot of stuff 😬
Well, I know about him and that's all that matters.
It was the same thing with Oasis... what astonishes me is that things like this happens in the US meanwhile Bruce Springsteen, for example, becomes a hit in the UK and worldwide... it shouldn't, he's trash, we already have Neil Young, Dylan...

Not by me.
Not ignored Ny me. 😃
Simply outstanding performance of this great song !! Such energy and skill by everyone on stage, absolutely brilliant.

This song never ceases to amaze me. Simply brilliant!!!!
This singer still has the wow factor.
I so agree 👍
one of the best song of ever!!!!
I so agree
Gutted when The Jam finished, but then this. I loved it
One of the brilliant songs by Style Council! Part of the soundtrack of my adult youth! Thanks Paul!

Where have I been to miss this guy all this time, you've got me hooked Mr Weller I love your music from the Jam till now
Whether with style council or the jam or on his own, singer or songwriter no one comes within an asses roar of him, what a genius
Definitely He writes and sings like someone who is not only amazing but also has a message to deliver about an uneven society and a terrible class system. What a shame that nobody today can get a message out there with their music
Best version of this i've ever seen . On fire
Agreed.
Sharp as a new razor
This song is timeless!
Paul weller....your voice is simply the best
Loved the Mod days...listening to the Jam...😊
It’s gotten better with age.
Why wasn't Paul a massive star in the USA, the average American knows bugger all about music
that's what makes him so great. He's clandestine.
The average American has an 80 IQ, weighs 300+ lbs, and watches NFL and Kardashians. The average American don't listen to good music.
Red wedge would not have endeared him. Cracking the US is phenomenally hard
Chris difford from squeeze which is the same era was very well known, the billboards advertising a concert in NY didn’t even need to mention squeeze

He is working very hard for 100 people.............GREAT GREAT SONG!
Paul Weller is by far the best! Love all Style Council music! Unmatched!
This song always makes me smile...Mr. Weller you are the best!
What can you say. Always amazing. Always passionate. Always the best.
Always and forever, Paul Weller is the number one.
I didn't miss them in the eighties and I still love Paul Wellers music.
Paul Weller is the real deal , this music is from the 80s and still sounds f in amazing,,, it's all bullshit today ,,, paul Thankyou for your great sound ,, your a master ,,
Top stuff , BIG sound !
your so right what they play on the Radio is all the same rubbish. Where are the Paul Wellers today?
OK boomer.
@@thomasmueller2951 There are many great artists, you just have to look. I mean, you won't, because you're far too ignorant.
Some fine musicians on that stage , Paul always has the best players
Shame his current band suck - well apart from Steve Cradock.
I love how much the guitar intro reminds me of The Isley Brothers' 1973 remake of their own 1964 song, "Who's That Lady?."
YES!!! Have always felt it but never could pinpoint what it reminded me of, you nailed it!
@@AlisVolatPropiis Yep, everything old is new again, if you wait long enough.

This is the tune that made me aware of Paul Weller back in 1983 here in Chicago...I am so happy that I found this indespensible artist...!!!
brad hill
Sorry, bit of a out dated query but the States didn't get The Jam/Style Council generally did they?
A few of us did. But precious few.
OK, thanks for that. I think like Oasis, they were a bit too Brit centric. Ian Dury would be a prime other example as he was Brit or even London centric on steroids!
Same here: 1983 in Chicago.
Paul Weller just fucking awesome!!
Fantastic was brilliant to see him at Scarborough. Top Draw
The Master!

+Paul Jones YES Sir
Ted Ex Are you America
He's sacked em all! But he also sacked; Bruce and Rick! dx
@@davidwaterhouse2552 The guitarist was just filling in for Steve Craddock, so not a member. However: loved this line-up, saw 'em twice in '90-ies
@@merkerakkountie6662 Is it Damon Minchella on the bass? This lineup is great, also like Yolanda on the bass... his "Live Wood" group was incredible!

boxingjerapah 👍 a seriously mighty song from a seriously mighty artist!!
I also had a white trench coat hahah
The tone of his voice may have changed, but I really dig what it is here. Sounds raspy and so cool! Some RAD musicians on that stage.
This man always leave me brethless , and stunned
Wow simply amazing
カッコいい!ギターがワカチコ言っているのが気持ちいいし、ホーンも最高!
