Hey coach amazing video!!! Thank you so much for the perspective on which side of the arm should take the force of the throw! I was a jav thrower at Cornell (grad in 22') and recently have been getting back into throwing. Your advice has been making a world of difference , I'm throwing better now at 24 compared to when I was 22 years old!!

Thank you! Hopefully with better weather, I’ll do another about the elbow later in the season 🤞🏻

This should be considered a fundamental of the javelin throw. Nobody should be throwing over 100 feet until they learn how to take the stress off the elbow.

Hey, in this video U teach that throwing arm is extended all the way, straight until the release. Slow-motion videos of top athletes show clearly that hand is bend from elbow, and that creates whipping motion for forearms. Could you elaborate or, even better, create extra video about it?

Yes there is elbow bend. In slow motion or with no resistance it is hard to articulate the loose/relaxed arm (which is key). I plan to create a specific episode on the elbow soon. Please stay tuned.

I’ve got a lot of helpful videos on my RUclips channel and more resources on my website. Also, try out coachtube.com. They have online courses from others that are worth checking out.
