I attended all 3 days of LIV Adelaide. Hands down best event I have been to ever! I’ve attended Golf tournaments in USA, Presidents Cups, AUS Opens and this was just different on all levels. Most fans were Golfers. Everyone was just having a great time, well behaved and just enjoying themselves. The players loved it, and they appeared to be grinding hard to win which was good to see. I also got amongst the team aspect as well. I’ll be back for more next year.

I went to the LIV event. The LIV product really suits Aussies. The majority of people there were golf fans. The music, facilities, volunteers made it a very easy feeling venue and so people got on board. Outside of the 12th hole, it was very well behaved and people were very respectful. It was the best sporting event I have been to.

Went to LIV Adelaide on Sunday. Simply brilliant. Spent 12 holes following Mickelson and Cam Smith watching some world class golf. Then headed to the Watering Hole participating in a world class golf party. Followed Talor Gooch up the 18th for the packed out presentation. Will not only be back next year, but will go to the other side of the continent to watch if they decide to hold a second LIV event here in 2024. There will always be space for the traditional, gentlemanly golf of The Open and The Masters - I love them. However, there is also space that the PGA doesn't occupy nor cater to - golf for the new millennium, the modern fan. LIV is here, (not necessarily to take over the PGA Tour, they are completely different products), and LIV is here to stay.

We wandered around the grounds Fridays interacting with all the players and having the time of our lives and spent the entire Sunday on the watering hole right behind their tee shots, witnessing the hole in one. Went with 3 of my golf buddies who had been to plenty of pga tournaments and said this weekend was the best golfing experience by far. Even bumped into mito and nieeman at the airport for a quick chat and only could say nice things about that experience too. Overall best weekend of my life. Pga missing out on Aussie market we love our golf and if it's liv to come fill that void then all I can say is... IT'S TIME TO LIV!

LIV adelaide was actually great. It was the first LIV event that really delivered. Great chat guys, and congrats on finishing the London Marathon. As an Aussie Golf enthusiast it took me a while to warm to the concept of Liv but i have to say this event blew my mind. For Australians this wasn't just about LIV it was an opportunity to watch some of the best golfers in the world play in Aus. The Australian Open was considered one of the biggest majors in the world and thanks to the Open championship making this a qualifying event it still has some appeal. Nothing annoys me more than the US thinking they are the center of the universe. Greg
Norman has been trying to create a world tour in conjunction with the PGA for a long time, he first started the conversation in the early 90's but Fincham refused to budge now Monahan has taken the same stance. Your comments regarding the DP world tour (played across the world) are spot on, but question why this is the case. I believe this is a direct result of the US PGA tour wanting to control golf globally but only play within the US.

I went to the LIV event, firstly I’ll say I’m still a big PGA fan as I believe that is pure golf, but as an Australian I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to go see some world class golfers and check out LIV, it was so much fun, it felt more like a big festival / party with golf happening in the background and as you 2 mentioned ,if that’s how it is, then it definitely has its place, everyone was there having such a great time, music playing, drinks flowing and I feel like they really played into the party element, also it was very well set up, yes I’d still love to watch a PGA event as it feels more like real golf, but I’d have to admit LIV would probably be a more fun day out.

After listening to people in the crowd and being there for the 2 days I can assure you I was surprised just how many people there were hard core, informed, knowledgeable golf fans.
They're not just there to booze on, they were passionate, respectful, dedicated real golf fans and the event was an example of when a great new concept with world class athletes combines with a great crowd, in a great city, with perfect weather.
It all just came together to make something special, but all this BS of PGA vs LIV should just stop, there's plenty of room for both and people should be more positive and just watch \ attend \ support what they like.

I know friends who travelled from New South Wales to Adelaide to watch this LIV Event. Now the Queensland Government want another LIV Event, so we could see 2 LIV Events on successive weekends, the Australian public are staved of top golf players, thanks to the PGA not pushing for events down here. If tickets went on sale today for LIV Australia 2024 I could easily get 30+ friends to book tickets and flights on the spot.

My co-worker/friend and I over the last 2 1/2 years have introduced about a dozen guys from our workplace that you wouldn't think would be interested to golf. We usually go after work once a week during the summer when the days are longer and pay twilight rates. We can usually get 12-16 holes in and play a Texas scramble so they are more comfortable having a partner to help out. It's been amazing fun and they are all getting so much better every time. We have passed clubs down to the new guys and found cheap ways to get them, maybe not the newest, but good decent clubs to get started.

Getting "sauced up" has much deeper societal impact than just having a good time. Rick's "It's Never You" connection - where he acknowledges that when it comes to childhood cancer it's always someone else - is surely going to be replicated with the same heartache because of the ills of alcohol consumption. No one ever plans to crash their car into someone else while drunk, or plans to become a lush but such heartache happens so much more frequently with alcohol consumption than the incidence childhood cancer contraction. AND the coarsening of society is a drag to the lowest in all of us. I love a good time as much as anyone - "If it's not fun, why do it?" - but this is the ONLY aspect of your wonderful channel that absolutely turns me off. I totally agree with you guys about LIV. It’s not for everyone, but it’s still a viable product…or can be…to attract new viewers. Bottom line: Those guys can still play, plain and simple. BUT, I was/am hoping it does more to differentiate itself from the PGA Tour and all other golf tours…My plan: Keep the team concept, but it needs more. 3 day tournament: Day 1: skills competitions for team points (Long Drive, accuracy - breaking glass, closest to the pin, chip & putt, one club challenge, fastest hole as a team or as an individual, etc…things that RUclipsrs do that require a high level of skill that everyone can relate to….then, the next 2 days you do more of a Ryder Cup setup…4-Ball, better ball, 4-somes, etc…and then singles the last day…keep the shotgun start and loud music. STRICT shot clock!! Right now, anyone new to golf tuning in doesn’t really get a sense it’s any different than the PGA Tour, which it isn’t. Stroke play in shorts with some music in the background…big whoop…I’ve tried to follow the team concept, but it’s still a bit fuzzy…My ultimate dream is the PGA Tour culls down its season to just the elevated events (20-24 is more than plenty), and then the LIV events are played in the PGA’s off season around the world and the states (Like F1 and the LPGA) to get people excited and charged up…AND, PGA and LIV players are in both tours…LIV and PGA since they don’t coincide…at the end of each PGA season, the top 40 guys get invited to tour with LIV to grow the game…start in the US/UK in the fall, then hit the southern hemisphere during the northern hemisphere’s winter (Australia, South America), then head to Asia and then the PGA starts up in Hawaii…

I went to Liv golf as well. I paid $450 to be in the Shark Shack at the watering hole on the Sunday, but I also spent a few hours walking around seeing different groups and holes.
One thing that really impressed me was the interaction between the pro's and the crowd. Missed puts were felt by all, pro's turning to crowds, the crowd on the second green to see Cam and Phil finish their round while the rest were on the 18th. The Aussie crowds are always respectful, and I think the players fed off that.
Honestly, the golf was phenomenal, and the course was insane. You get the feeling that the players are more relaxed than PGA players look. Maybe it's because of the fact they have a guaranteed income, but I think the fact they are playing quite amazing golf at the moment (witnessed by the proportion of them in the top 30 in the Masters) could be attributed to them actually enjoying their golf now.

  • @ryanmartinez7284

LIV is awesome. It truly is an experience made for the fans. I went to the Portland event last year by myself and had a blast. Everyone there was having a good time and being able to interact, somewhat, with the players and get super close was amazing. I was hoping they'd come back to the PNW this season but sadly they didn't. I'm going to try to make it down to Miami for the final Team event tho.
As far as the structure of the tournament goes, I think it's a really good model to build off of. I like the shotgun starts cuz it ensures that everyone is playing in the same conditions and that the round is just that, a round. I don't have to be there literally all day if I want to see all the golf. I really like the team aspect too. It just adds another level of excitement to watch. I get that's not for everyone but as the Machine said when being interviewed by Troy, "this isn't your grandfathers golf. In fact, he'll probably hate it" and that's true. Most ppl that I've seen that don't like it are the 'older' generation that like to think of themselves as golf purists. Those guys are dumb. This is golf for a newer generation and there is a need for that. Ever since Happy Gilmore came out I was wanting a golf event to be like that with the crowd making noise.
Oh and one final thing to all those that say its just an exhibition. Shut up. It's not. It's a real tournament that's in it's infancy and making strides. The players themselves love it and say it's actually more nerve racking BECAUSE of the amount of money on the line. And for Cam Smith to say after his round on Friday that it was the most nervous he's EVER BEEN is saying something. And he had to come from behind to win the Open last year. Just sayin.

  • @georgewyatt2924
    @georgewyatt2924 Год назад +6

LIV did a great job in Adelaide. Yes, it's different and that's OK. But they sure had people excited. I think the big problem is in how the PGA Tour shut out players. Fans love Phil for sure and many others on LIV. The PGA Tour lost its luster because now only the majors have the best players in the world playing. Hopefully the OWGR system will change to recognize LIV events or majors will adjust their entry criteria so that decent LIV players don't lose their exemption potentials. The Masters showed that the PGA Tour and LIV players can co-exist easily. They have cemented their place as the top tier of golf, while the Players Championship has lost its place as the 5th major. The Players used to invite players from other tours, but not LIV this year. Even Jon Rahm said that it was not right that the defender could not play ... and to take his parking spot was petty. I wonder are portraits of past champs are still hanging at the clubhouse? Adelaide may have been a turning point. We'll see what the atmosphere in Singapore is this week, but it's clear the team aspect has an impact for LIV players.

Certainly agree that LIV should get OWGR points to whatever degree no cut/54 holes events are assessed. However to say that the problem is that PGA has shut out the (LIV) players is likely a bit strong. How many events would the LIV players actually play on the PGA when their first priority would be to the LIV 14 events, given the huge signing bonus they have received? Just recall that most of them said that one of the advantages of LIV was to play less and be home more. So it's doubtful that many would play on the PGA, unless of course they were kidding about playing less.

Playing with better golfers is a great challenge but I tried to keep up with a scratch handicap player for 20 years and my handicap was around 20-22.
I went and figured out my game and I am now off 13. I don't hit nearly as long as he does but I am improving on my short game.
    Figure out your own game.

Golf is definitely more accessible today compared to when I started in the 1960's. I'm glad the Frisbee golf and huge hole golf never took off. We have Top Golf for that. There are also so many tee time deals and golf packages available.

Guy is spot on about how difficult it is, I’m hitting the ball better than when I started again 2 years ago but my scores are not significantly better

Good analogy would be how you market snooker compared to pool. 2 very similar products but very different look and feel. Space for both

Hey guys just letting you know I was at liv Adelaide. I play golf and I’d like to say that all the hole’s were not like the 12th, and there was fantastic mellow holes and heaps of golfers eg golf fans at other holes the quality of the players and golfing play was excellent. Please don’t judge the whole course and event on the 12th hole which was amazing, but all over the course had some fantastic Golf getting played on the other holes , by some of the best golfers in the world. It was just a fantastic event. If you wanted to hang at for example the 11 th 10 th 17 tee box you could. Plenty of room everywhere on the course. Cheers Mick

Just to add you could pop from tee box to green and catch it all, and the shot gun starts means you catch nearly all 48 players. I could go on but it was just epic. To see Phil, Bryson, Brooks, Patrick Cameron, so many players in one day it was just amazing. Feverish situation 🏌️‍♂️🍻
