Been on vacation a lot lately and got behind on my podcasts. I get your comments on the Ryder Cup, but don't think it will be ruined. Now, today, the PGA Tour, DP World Tour, and PIF/LIV announced an agreement to form a new commercial entity for the betterment of the game and end their litigation. So I think the Ryder Cup will be fine. 5 minutes at the half way house is enough. Go to the rest room, pick up a snack or food (many courses now have a way to order food in advance while on the course). If you are going to take longer let the clubhouse know and let groups behind you go ahead of you. That does not apply to you Rick doing your sausage roll reviews. Take as long as you need!!
DP Worl Tour has lost so many of their known players that have been long time synonymous with the European tour. Just take a look at the leaderboards from tourneys this year :(. I have a bad feeling that DP could be in serious trouble in coming years. They need an influx of young, star caliber players and most importantly, need to retain them. The best (ex: Hovland) tend to jump to the PGA Tour.
@@azdesertrat7849 Agree. The Dp tour is already in trouble, they lost the Euro pro tour feeder this year making it harder than ever for European talent to come through onto the main stage unless they play in the US or Asia feeder tours. It's a sad time for European golf.

I wish more people could appreciate that Scotty was a *maker* of putters who eventually designed a few of his own. If it wasn't for Karsten Solheim, Tad Moore and T.P. Mills, we'd have never heard of him.
The other difference between the US LIV players and some, not all, of the European players is that the US players have left the PGA tour with dignity. Some European players have take a "do you know who I am attitude?" and have been critical of the DP world tour. This a tour that offered the opportunity to develop as players and probably deserves more respect for that alone. In taking that approach does that show the judgement a good Ryder Cup captain would offer? I agree the best players should be picked but some have no displayed a very commendable attitude. This year is an opportunity for some different players to step up onto the world stage and looking back to fading greats (Mickelson and Garcia) isn't really exciting.
Weird that the Ryder Cup has different parameters for Liv vs PGA. Definitely don't think that is fair. However it plays out it's up to both teams to put their best foot forward and I think it will not loose any of it's luster.
RE: Daniel’s dear Rick. I’m in almost exactly the same situation… For a second I thought I might have sent an email and not remembered doing it! What I’ve been doing is looking at the tee booking sheet and finding people who have booked to play on their own. I’ll then book the tee time immediately after that person and get to the tee early. When the single player rocks up to the 1st tee, I’ll ask them if they are the [time] tee time, explain that I’m on my own and am the next tee time, do you mind if I join you? I haven’t been turned down yet, and have met a few really good, like minded people who I’d be happy to play with again. It’s maybe not as quick as joining the comps, but it’s working nicely. Good luck!
If you are getting fitted for new bats, would it not make more sense for you to go to precision golf for a live fitting with Simon? Or have you got a deal with Titleist?
Interesting your observation on Cobra, More about out of the consciousness having lost Bryson as a Poster Boy and Rickie down the rankings and a bit out of the limelight. I played the white ZL and it was a great product.
They should have worked with LIV to join together and become an actual world golf tour, but instead they chose to continue to lick the boots of the PGA tour continuing to be a feeder league. Sadly I wouldn’t be surprised if they eventually folded to be honest.
@@andrew_l1900 exactly. They were to keen on making an example of their players and taking a stance against the Saudis. I don’t see Ronaldo getting dropped by Portugal or any of his sponsors for playing in SA.

Hey Rick absolutely love the Chanel and loved the chipping episode with Dan. I have implemented what he talked about with the lessons because I chipped like you and my sandy is now my favourite club
the LIV league was never set up to be a rival tour, it was always designed to compliment the existing tours by offering a platform for players to play team golf that doesn't clash with established marquee events....the fact the PGAT red flagged it meant it turned into a rival tour by proxy, and the golf media have run with that narrative ever since
Monaghan and Pelley have destroyed the Ryder Cup and are doing their best to destroy the game of Golf. They should be replaced by a pair that can negotiate.
@@virtualmartijn they came out and admitted that they were actively trying to pressure the organizers of the majors and Ryder cup to ban LIV players from those events. Monopolistic anti-trust practices at best and should he punished for it. You can’t say the players are independent contractors and then go “but if you don’t work for us we’ll try and punish you”.
Based on his major performances since last year Garcia wouldn't make the team even if he wasn't on LIV. None of the other euro LIV guys would either, but they'd be great captains/vice captains, but they had all probably already played their last Ryder Cup.....one of the reasons they jumped ship imo
I think Garcia is the only European that would get in from LIV. He's still got it & always performs in the Ryder Cup. Basing it on just majors from last year is narrow minded. Rick is right on Garcia but wrong on Poulter who has run his course in the Ryder Cup along with Westwood & Stenson.
I know it is hard to judge but I struggle to see why the guy (Sergio) sitting 14th in the LIV league with 2 top tens all year on the LIV tour & has missed 3 cuts & T68 in his last 4 majors would even be worthy of a Captains pick. I know Rick also mentioned Poulter as a pick - seriously he's currently ranked 37 in the LIV rankings & has 2 top tens worldwide in the last 2 years (LIV/ASIA/DP tour). Do I think they'd both be huge losses as potential captains - yes. But Ryder cup players wise... I wish Sergio was making it more difficult (just for his Rahm pairing) but not for me.
Yes it is ruined. It is ruined by the PGA of America being so incredibly short sighted. Why not just let ANY player, play any events they want? Then, it’s your job to get them to WANT to play more events by being creative. More money is the obvious but smart minds could come up with ideas as long as the framework is what’s best for the game in the long run. Not having MAJOR stars play in your events is STUPID! I’m not a Kopeka fan at all but I do respect that he is very close to the best player IN THE WORLD and if he is not in a event that he would like to be in, then that’s a PGA problem.
The traditions of this game are what keep people invested - when you start to lose those, you lose the glue that holds it all together - these are really sad times, IMO, as I think this divide will only weaken the game in the long run.
Nah, I play only because I like the game in front of me. I only learn the traditions because I already love the game. Traditions won’t change my enjoyment. That is a bogus statement.
Professional golf is in a crisis right now. When the world ranking system no longer functions you know it's in bad shape. Drama is fun but they need to come find a solution instead of creating more problems and divide. Only majors are interesting now, and it will Only be worse it seems
RE: You've made your bed/You can't have your cake and eat it The European Tour back in the 90's also had a ban-maniac policy when European players wanted to play on the PGAT. People like Sam Torrance, Mark James, and Howard Clark were screeching away: 'No more Ryder Cup for you!!' 'You've made your bed, now lie on it!!' 'Don't ever come back!!'.
Sorry but Sergio, Poulter and WEstwood are past their best and porbably were several years ago. Picking them based on passion over dwindling ability and competitiveness is an emothional and not rational response. PErsoanlly on the European front I do not see any LIV players being ahead of many those named. Personal 12 for Europe... Based on rankings and form recently: Jon Rahm, Rory McIlroy, Victor Hovland, Matt Fitzpatrick (5) Based on personality, team energy etc: Tyrell Hatton, Tommy Fleetwood, (2) Based on Experience and x Factor: Justin Rose (1) This would leave 4 'wildcards': Shane Lowry, Seamus Power, Adrian Meronk, Pablo Larrazabal
Spot on all the postman BS is exactly that he had one good Ryder cup and lived on the back of it. A classic journeyman who got lucky a couple of times.
Hasn't it always been the case that to be part of the Ryder cup you had to be a member of the teams tour (US PGA and European tour). If you resign from your respective tour then you are making yourself ineligible for the Ryder Cup. That's always been the rule, why change it for a group of players that have decided to play their golf on a different tour? Once again isn't it these players trying to have their cake and eat it? I'm looking forward to seeing a younger generation of players in the Ryder cup, especially on the European team. It's still an exciting format, with players passionate at representing their nation/continent.
I joined a new club and by playing comps and just going round i met people, even in a country where i don't speak the language. I often play as a single and sometimes if I'm invited to play through i ask to join if they're not already a 4.
Paul here , GO to the club your a member of now then put on the notice board next to your ability like me I play in Seniors snd Rabbits ask write on a piece of paper when your able to play and times to and from and if there are any groups with spaces , and if it's just males or females you would like to begin with . May I also suggest playing off forward tee box till your confident . At Woolley park golf club, we are a 2 ball 09.15 , 95% of the time Sundays 09.24 , 3 ball 80% and Tuesdays 10.04 3 ball 90% of the time . And we play our rules unless a comp because its too expensive. And we have more fun , that is what it's about or was when I joined.
I have been in the situation several times and it always seems daunting. The solution is just go out and play a lot as a single. You will meet people and it’s not always the people you get paired with. By just going out and playing you are making yourself part of the community. And when you get asked to play in a new group, always say yes, always be on time, and don’t play slow. Groups are losing people all the time because of lateness, last minute cancelations, and slow play.
That Dear Rick that does well at par 3 courses. I explained the golf course to my wife who was intimidated by the size of par 5’s and par 4’s like this. On a par 5 you have 2 shots to turn the hole into a par 3 and on par 4 you have 1 shot to turn that into a par 3 typical distance. Just break the hole up.
It’s not double standards it’s because brooks can actually qualify to play where as the European players cannot actually qualify under the current circumstances
I'm surprised that media are still talking about how the players miss Playing in the Ryder Cup. I don't understand how golf fans think that players care about these events. They only care about winning majors making money and getting their name elevated so they can sign major sponsorship deals. I doubt players care about the Ryder up. Even Ian Poulter who claims to love the Ryder Cup left. That says it all. Players only say they like it because they are told to say that since it was created to "grow the game" around the globe.
Has anyone considered, and correct me if I'm wrong; that since players do not get paid for the Ryder Cup, a rule change be implemented. Whereas players pay an entry fee...whatever amount is agreed upon. Proceeds for the entry fees are used for charities and such and/or for the purpose of advancement of the sport of golf.
A person of Sergio's character should never be considered for the captain's role. I'm glad he's no longer a part of the PGA tour. Players like him and Reed are not missed.
The problem is that the monopoly of the tours &, imo, the over the top sanctions to the players that left, has created much of the issues that golf finds itself. Some sort of communication early on instead of the threat of sanctions could have meant some sort of compromise. Alas, we are where we are. Ryder Cup definitely a poorer version to happen now.
To be fair the DP tour should have done business with the LIV owners/organizers and became an actual world tour. Sadly I can see the DP tour dying a slow and painful death over the coming years, it’s basically just been a feeder tour to the PGA for ages now and you don’t hear anything about it in the sports media.
@@andrew_l1900 Indeed. Why does the DP tour not go on a witch hunt against players leaving for pga tour in the name of money the same way the pga tour do against LIV players? I understand "blood" money may change things but in reality it's not the reason, it is out of fear of losing market share and status. There is alot of double standards and inconsistency involved in all of this tbh. But yeah, future is not looking too bright for the DP tour, im european but could honestly not care less about that tour right now
Every time you guys do product placement it just reminds me of Wayne’s World. Next time bring some Ecco shoes in and hold them up while you say it. 😂😂😂
I’d like to add that as a new member, let everyone you play with know that you’d always be available to join a group. Too many times I’ve played with a single and thought I’d love to play with them again, but there’s no show of interest, phone number?, email?. Communicate. (Maybe they just don’t want to play with me…….hummmm.)
DP and the PGA Tour are the punk here...they have hiacked sport of "golf" on pure BS grounds. DP and the PGA Tour have MADE their own bed and as a result are getting their ass handed to them. Moreover, WE the viewers of the Ryder Cup for what IT bring to "the game of Golf" are getting screwed from watching elite players on both side of the pond go head-to-head. Rahm comments was dead on.
Why? These players that all left knew this was not just a possibility but more of a probability! You can’t be mad at the R&A for sticking to their guns and holding these players to a standard! They knew the risk in leaving!
Are the Titleist (or any prestigious brand) clubs designed for higher handicappers much better than the new Ram, Takomo, etc? Humans are subjective when testing. They subconsciously consider the name, marketing, looks, etc. I would like to see a swing robot actually compare clubs with identical swings, on center, off center, and get real data.
This has always been my view, that I'd love to see these decisions by the DP world tour and the PGA being challenged in the court of arbetration for sport. As it stands, all players are, for all intents and purposes, self employed and, currently, can join multiple tours around the globe. I cannot see why they are now being "prohibited" from joining LIV whilst being allowed to join other tours. This should be a personal choice for each player as a part of their business plan/model.
They are not prohibited from joining the LIV Tour, it's just that LIV doesn’t have any partnerships with the DPWT or PGAT for obvious reasons (LIV aggressively started buying out their talent). So joining LIV has certain consequences and the players are handsomely compensated for that
A Tour Pro CAN'T join multiple tours. You play in the PGA or DP World tour and you have to become a member. Ask yourself Why players resigned their membership on either of those tours to join LIV and the travelling puppet show for the Crown Prince sports washing project. They quit and took the money.
@@melabshier5812 not entirely true, most pga or dp members are permitted (and do) join other tours, eg players play on both dp and pga tours throughout the year as well as australia and tours in the far east
@@neilbirchall9181 Don't get confused over a PGA tour player playing in another tour or DP World player doing the same. PGA players can apply to play in another tour if they have met, or will meet, the criteria to keep their tour card. Hence, why Rory or when Patrick Reed was playing in Dubai ( before LIV). Was Patrick Reed a DP World Tour member? No. Just like Min Woo Lee who has earned a Special Temporary Membership on the PGA Tour. A player can get sponsors exemptions to play in a tournament on either tour. A player does not get unlimited sponsor exemptions. So Min Woo has played well enough to earn a temporary exemption which means he is no longer reliant on sponsor exemptions. He's still a DP World Tour player.

They are Tour players...pro athletes...they can play where they like..they are not employees..the golf mafia have made the bans to try and maintain their monopoly...and power
Nobody anticipated the PGA, DP Tour and people like you two would have conspired and be more politically motivated than most golf lovers love the sport.
For years, 30 in fact, the Europeans have demonstrated what grit and courage in a match play format can accomplish. World ranking means nothing on the first tee. Everyone is nervous as hell, but the Americans have played like they're afraid to fail. Some have entirely lost their swing, some they're putting stroke.
If / when Brooks, Bryson and DJ are selected for the US team that’s when the whole event looks ridiculously lopsided…. and the audience figures will be in free fall.Nice one Pelley .
Even without the American LIV players their strengh in depth is ridicuous. The likes of Fitzpatrick, Hovland, Hatton, Lowry etc... have to step up big time for Europe to have a sniff. There is no older guard to rely on now.
The Euro tour aligns with the PGA tour, the PGA does not govern them. LIV players can play majors, therefore if the Euro tour allows LIV players eligibility for the ryder cup what's the damage really?
Completely disagree with Guy and Rick here… they didn’t make their bed’s… the PGA being bitter children made the beds for them. These golfers should have been able to play anywhere in the world including the Venezuelan invitational startup league if they wanted and it not affect any of the other leagues or their eligibility. Especially for Ryder cup that is just what Rham said it was, the best versus the best.
Nope. It was in their contract. The players breached their own contracts and hoped public pressure would result in the existing tours backing down. Shame they listened to Greg Norman and not the actual tour who outlined exactly what would happen. The blackmail didn't work now LIV are throwing toys out of the pram.

@@robinc3307 they did/do have something to worry about. If LIV becomes the premier tour then the value of the PGA falls, resulting in less sponsorship leading to less prize money. PGA was and is greedy, and also forgets that they were once the same league trying to do the same thing. I hope DP/European tour get tired of being bullied and part ways as well and team with LIV the way LIV wanted to team with PGA. I have always liked the PGA obviously, but they have been stale and arrogant for a very long time. At this point I could care less if they dissolved so long as I still get to watch the best golfers play somewhere.
The Ryder Cup predates the PGA tour as it is today so it will undoubtedly evolve to accommodate LIV. If US has LIV players and Europe cuts its own arm off by not doing so it’s Europe’s own fault.
Agreed...the PGA has single handedly killed the DP tour by offering them this stupid deal to be in effect a feeder tour.... DP would have better partnered with LIV.....and seeing as they had played in Saudi and all over the world this would make sense...a world wide tour.....now the DP seems finished😢😢
What's hypocritical is that there has been many tours over the years and why is the LIV Tour being treated differently. What because they took a few top players from the PGA Tour. How childish. The PGA Tour has raped and pillaged other tours for years. The whole thing is ridiculous and this all about the PGA Tour keeping their monopoly. This monopoly must be destroyed.
It’s mental. No logical reason beyond spite they can’t play.
They made their choice let them live with it! They knew this was a possibility, and still decided to go!
@@dmkfactor1721so you're willing to water down the Ryder competition just to spite someone daring to join a rival league? So sad
@@azdesertrat7849 Agree. The Dp tour is already in trouble, they lost the Euro pro tour feeder this year making it harder than ever for European talent to come through onto the main stage unless they play in the US or Asia feeder tours. It's a sad time for European golf.
@@svrgnknight It’s a choice! If you go work for another company mid year, you can’t go back and get your Christmas bonus from your previous employer! That’s just bonkers! It’s the same thing! They left their employer, and now think they can get their benefits? No, sorry dipshit just NO!
Hey guys on a previous cast you touched on the new rules of golf. Can you please explain the wif rule. Swing without contacting the ball. Does it include hitting the ground but not ball? Thanks

Cam Smith!? How is everyone forgetting him
@@BeantownHooligan I wouldn't say forgotten.

Why did you say Scotty Cameron putters were influenced by Ping ? Surely you mean copied from Ping ?
Good luck!

DP tour always had the most to lose when LIV was conjured up. But they are now just compounding the problem for themselves.
I don’t see Ronaldo getting dropped by Portugal or any of his sponsors for playing in SA.

the LIV league was never set up to be a rival tour, it was always designed to compliment the existing tours by offering a platform for players to play team golf that doesn't clash with established marquee events....the fact the PGAT red flagged it meant it turned into a rival tour by proxy, and the golf media have run with that narrative ever since
Its all about Monahan holing onto power and his ridiculous salary
Upgraded to the Cobra Aerojet LS this year. Love it!
Monaghan and Pelley have destroyed the Ryder Cup and are doing their best to destroy the game of Golf. They should be replaced by a pair that can negotiate.
Pelley has destroyed the European Tour, bar a few events it's genuinely shite.
PGAT is not involved in the Ryder Cup. Jay Monahan may be many things but a decision maker related to the Ryder Cup he is not.
Totally agree...They have colluded to maim the Euro tour...Pelley must be replaced by a European...that would be a good start to saving the Euro tour
Two 66's to qualify for the us open..yer kidding right. Muppet.
No maybe not by playing but by a pick ??
Sergio is the greatest Euro player ever and still playing well...
Please update the breaking 100, 90, 80 videos! I'm curious if things have changed since all the new golf balls, clubs, chipping lessons, etc.
I doubt it
Why would it be dead this just opens the door for young future talent which get overlooked at times
RE: You've made your bed/You can't have your cake and eat it
The European Tour back in the 90's also had a ban-maniac policy when European players wanted to play on the PGAT. People like Sam Torrance, Mark James, and Howard Clark were screeching away: 'No more Ryder Cup for you!!' 'You've made your bed, now lie on it!!' 'Don't ever come back!!'.
So we should have the You Tube Ryder Cup for a Squillion Euro’s😂😂😂😂
Can’t get Squillion out of my head now😂😂

Sorry but Sergio, Poulter and WEstwood are past their best and porbably were several years ago. Picking them based on passion over dwindling ability and competitiveness is an emothional and not rational response. PErsoanlly on the European front I do not see any LIV players being ahead of many those named. Personal 12 for Europe...
Based on rankings and form recently: Jon Rahm, Rory McIlroy, Victor Hovland, Matt Fitzpatrick (5)
Based on personality, team energy etc: Tyrell Hatton, Tommy Fleetwood, (2)
Based on Experience and x Factor: Justin Rose (1)
This would leave 4 'wildcards': Shane Lowry, Seamus Power, Adrian Meronk, Pablo Larrazabal

Strong words from Rory, He thinks Brooks should be in the Ryder Cup but not the European Liv players. Why the double standard?
I hope Rory takes full responsibility when Euro team loses...
The players didn't make the Ryder Cup choice, the PGA did with their own arrogance and greed thinking they had a total monopoly on the sport.
A person of Sergio's character should never be considered for the captain's role. I'm glad he's no longer a part of the PGA tour. Players like him and Reed are not missed.
Reed vs Rory was one of the greatest matches omg
@@balance3201 no doubt! Reed has game, but he's still a cheating ass.
The problem is that the monopoly of the tours &, imo, the over the top sanctions to the players that left, has created much of the issues that golf finds itself. Some sort of communication early on instead of the threat of sanctions could have meant some sort of compromise. Alas, we are where we are. Ryder Cup definitely a poorer version to happen now.
yes, thanks to Monahan and Pelley....Pelley must go asap and be replaced by a European, who is not owned by Monahan.

A LIV USA team would actually compete on the Ryder cup
I’d like to add that as a new member, let everyone you play with know that you’d always be available to join a group. Best players from either side of the pond, yes but how do you rate the LIV players and their current form against those playing the regular tour ?
DP and the PGA Tour are the punk here...they have hiacked sport of "golf" on pure BS grounds. DP and the PGA Tour have MADE their own bed and as a result are getting their ass handed to them. Moreover, WE the viewers of the Ryder Cup for what IT bring to "the game of Golf" are getting screwed from watching elite players on both side of the pond go head-to-head. Rahm comments was dead on.
The Ryder cup was dealt a big blow in credibility when Stenson resigned as captain.
Why? These players that all left knew this was not just a possibility but more of a probability! You can’t be mad at the R&A for sticking to their guns and holding these players to a standard! They knew the risk in leaving!
They haven't lost any credibility in my book.
Whats the importance of being a capitain in the the ryder cup as in what jobs do they have??
Any golfer who is good enough and qualifies should be able to play. Some of the LIV golfers are insanely talented but frowned upon for a decision.
