Thank you. I’ve had this dryer for eight years and it has went down on me 3 times and all 3 times the part never cost over 30$ and repairs never took more than an hour. So grateful for guys like you who put the time and effort to get us diy guys going.

I'm a handy guy but have never worked on a dryer before. When my wife came asking for her hero because the dryer would power up but not start, I dug in. With the help of your videos I was able to disassemble the dryer far enough to determine that the belt had just come off the tensioner and pulley. I easily put it back on and the dryer is back to working great. Thank you for making me look so smart. :)

Our circuit board was different with no obvious ground wire so we were unable to check that portion. Checking the motor directly we found that the resistance was 3.6 ohm. That should have been 1.8 for the starter coil. Turns out, our centrifugal switch was stuck in the 'on' position, allowing the motor to spin, but not get started on it's own. Would never have figured that all out without your video. Thanks so much for saving us hundreds of dollars in repair.

Great video. I've never really done any troubleshooting on appliances, but this made it super easy and gave me the confidence to open up the dryer and see what's going on. I have a newer model than the one in the video, but as soon as I removed the top cover I could see the belt was broken. $20 part that I can replace myself compared to a $150 service call (plus parts). THANKS!

Thank you so much! I went through your full diagnostic, realized it was the thermal cutoff fuse, follow your other video on how to disassemble everything and put it back together , got a new one but by that time tested the old fuse again and it worked, some bit confused, but I guess testing everything and un plugging everything and replugging everything reset whatever was the problem. So somehow it still works. Thank you again for the great instructional video.

Great video Bill! You explain things very well, you should be an instructor. I'm searching for an answer to my dryer issue. Its a samsung too. It will start up but stops turning after 5-10 seconds. Sometimes it will start moving again but keeps stopping. Most times I need to turn it off to get it to start moving again but never stays running now. Happened all at once, not a progressive issue. Any ideas? Any help would be GREATLY appreciated! Thanks
EDIT>>>Just disassembled it, there's a faint smell coming from the control board and it clicks off and on when it starts and stops, is that normal? I sure hope you read this and have some insight on this. The part is $146 and can't really spare that going blindly into this. Any help is huuugely appreciated!!
SECOND EDIT>>> After leaving it on for abit I noticed the time ticked down to 1 min in less then 5 mins, it was set on 40 mins. I'm thinking the control board takes care of time too? Looks like a safe bet to my untrained eye anyhow. Can you confirm time is controlled by the control board or is that in the display? Thanks again, sorry for being a pain

Bill, my Samsung dryer dv331aew/xaa-01 does not have a yellow neutral wire on a separate plug as you show on this newer model dryer. There is a lighter gauge yellow one that shares a plug with 3 others, but I can't find a wiring diagram online and I have no idea if I am affecting the continuity or ohms test by pulling that multi-wire plug. I have tested continuity on the door switch (the light works), the thermal fuse (OK) and the heating element (OK). The belt and tensioner are OK. So according to your procedure, it may be the mother board unit. Please advise how to determine the neutral wire to check that component.

We've had a Samsung washer and dryer for a while now. First, the dryer heating element failed. Next, the dryer started rumbling pretty badly and I thought the rollers had worn out. After disassembling the dryer I discovered the rollers were fine but the drum had cracked around its circumference where it contacted the rollers (very thin aluminum). Replaced the rollers anyway, and ordered a replacement drum which I installed myself. Not sure if I'll stick with Samsung going forward when it comes time. Washer bearings also failed. Culprit was a buildup of goop from liquid detergent, so we've cut the amount of detergent we use in half to avoid this problem.

My parents were about to buy a new dryer when ours stopped working today; and lo and behold it's just a snapped belt.
    Thanks!

Great Video, thanks for sharing. I tested the motor and it has 1.5 ohm but shows the same when I activate the centrifugal switch. You say it is bad. When I connect the motor directly to AC it runs? Any idea?

Hi Bill, great instruction video. I started at the board, and I got a OL reading, I then tested everything shown in the video and all tested ok. when I test the motor it shows a number of 2.5 & when I test the motor switch it shows 4.2, its not the same as your reading but is it bad?

Hi Chris. Not sure if you’ll see this but I am having the same issue with my dryer. OL at the board for the complete circuit, but each component testing on. Did you ever get a resolution that you can share?

Thank you so much for your video. I ran diagnostics on my dryer and found that the motor pulley is fried. I’m wondering if the motor is also bad. Before I found the fried motor pulley- the dryer turned on, and everything looked normal, but when I tried to start the cycle, all I heard was a one click (which is normal when a cycle starts) and nothing else happened. could that just be the motor pulley that is fried, or is it more likely the entire motor?
