This is one of the best how-to videos I've ever watched. This absolutely saved the day and my wallet. I got a belt for $8 and practically changed it myself in about an hour. Dryer is up and running and I'm so relieved. Great video, thank you so much!
Samsung Dryer Drum Belt OEM Part# 6602-001655..... $9 at Home Depot (WEN Handyman part) $14.50 at Amazon (Samsung original part) Plus many other sources. The appliance parts websites charge 3-4 times that or more, which they probably have to do to support their how-to videos and the folks who make them.
As a single mother I need my dryer! As a woman that knows I can do anything with a RUclips how to video I needed this one! It’s fantastic, clear easy to follow instructions. Perfect shots to show exact placement. I very much appreciate this video! ❤🎉
This is one of the very best videos I have used. Repair man said it would be a week or more before he got the part, belt, I got it in two days and at $9.50. Video was very easy to follow and now I have my dryer back up and running, because I repaired it myself. I wish I would have tried to determine the issue before I spent $100. on a service call fee. Thanks for the great video and being so helpful.
One of the best video for dryer repair. Excellent step by step taking apart and putting it back together. My only suggestion would be to mention the difference in the screws. Some have built in lock washers others don't. The ones with the lock washers attach to the panel that supports the drum. Will send myself a note with the link for the video so that if I have to do it again I will have the belt and the instructions. Please thank the employees at appliance part pro for putting this together. Unfortunately, it was difficult to find a place that has parts in stock that I can drive to and pick up. Will be ordering a spare belt for myself and my son.
This was the most detailed and helpful video I’ve ever seen. I have great confidence that I will be able to replace my dryer belt after watching this just one time. Thank you for sharing such a great resource!
Absolutely tremendous tutorial! Every step was covered in perfect detail. I purchased my factory Samsung belt at a local appliance repair store for $46. Inexpensive aftermarket belts could be trouble and might not fit. A few tips: Keep all of your screws organized (many look the same but are different). I poked holes in a piece of cardboard and stuck the screws in the holes. I then labeled what was what so nothing was confused or lost. If you have shop vacuum with a small nozzle, now is your time to clean. My dryer is 8 years old and i was amazed by how much dirt/lint was covering everything inside. Use a old toothbrush to clean the vanes of the fan and inside the lint trap assembly (mine were caked with lint). Finally, be sure to properly center the belt on the drum. This should be easy because there should be a brown stain from the old belt. Slowly rotate the drum by hand and line up the belt on the old mark on the drum. Follow this to a Tee and you will have success!
This video saved me a lot of money. $18 for a new belt, a little bit of self labor, and voila. The dryer works again. One watch out for those doing this is to ensure that the spring is still in place. Mine had fell off when the belt snapped. I removed the drum, put the spring back on and placed an item underneath the pulley to have some tension. Then put the drum back, belt on, and then pulled tight to get the belt in place. Thanks so much!
Fantastic! Two suggestions: 1) Once the drum belt is off, simply lift the drum up and out; this is a good opportunity to vacuum up any accumulated lint, and grease the bearings (4 each drum wheels, one tension pulley). 2) minor note: at very end of video, power cord shown is for a washer, not a dryer.
Hands down the best How-to videos I have ever watched and actually "easily" followed these instructions to replace my dryer belt...I have NEVER worked on any dryer in my life. Thank you so much for saving me some $$$.
Clear and detailed step by step instructions ...using this video, i fixed my dryer belt...saved me a couple of hundred dollars in repairs...can't thank this guy enough!
dude!! i followed this video and you probably saved me $200 bucks. thank you so much. words cant really express my gratitude. man, you saved the day and you made my wife very happy!
Excellent video. Was drying a load today and the wife heard a bang. Didn't know what it was. She later said the dryer stopped at 33 mins. The design is such that when the belt brakes, the tensioner disengages with a switch that keeps the motor from spinning. Much cheaper than replacing the unit, which is ~11 years old and would cost $900 to replace. Since it is a stacked unit, I would have to buy a Samsung. Some day, I want to unstack these, so I am not stuck using what they want me to. Thanks
After installing my Samsung dryer stacked on top of my Samsung washing machine I went to turn the dryer on and discovered the dryer belt had jumped track evidently when I was installing it. Apparently, when I had tipped the dryer forward in order to set it up on top of the washing machine it caused the belt to dislodge. This great video instructed me how to access the belt and properly re-install it without having "spare parts" left over after the job. The new dryer is operational and without a service call and the house laundry system is back up and running.
This is what how-to videos should be: slow, methodical, clear (no music or extraneous stuff, straightforward, steady camerawork) and complete (reassembly gets the same treatment as breakdown). I used this to successfully replace the drive belt on an older Samsung model with a variety of minor differences, with no prior dryer repair experience. Instead of hundreds of dollars, it was a $14 belt, plus an amateur hour or two of my time. Thank you!
Awesome video. Explained and demonstrated so that ANYONE can follow it. My belt was good but the spring to the idler pulley had come off. This video made it an easy fix and saved me a big repair bill. THANK YOU.
Your video is the best! The difficulty I had was on how to reapply the drum belt around the other turning gear- thanks for the visual and talking it through! Many thanks!
Definitely help me out! Someone gave me this dryer for free and didn’t know if it worked or not. I turned it on, it would start the timer but wouldn’t do anything else. With your video I was able to find out that the belt had slipped off the motor. I looped it back on and it saved the day! The belt is in fair condition so I’ll definitely be using this video again when I replace the belt within the next few weeks!
Thanks, instructions is very good. Yesterday I noticed the dryer would turn on but it would not spin. Belt is broken because you can move drum when it is off. Got a belt and mostly the instructions of taking apart the dryer is identical. The only difference is that there is not much slack in the white tension holder. The most difficult part is that it took about 3 minutes before I was able to put the belt in. The belt cost less than $10 in amazon and it saves tons of money on the repair bill.
Thanks a lot for this great video. You know your stuff like a lot of people on RUclips but your communication skills are on top of anyone else I saw in your line of expertise. Also, the angle of each view is optimized to perfectly show what to do. After looking at your video, I knew exactly what I had to do and I felt as confident as a pro to repair my dryer. Thanks again!
Thanks Matt. and Thanks Appliance Parts Pros. You help an old appliance repair-man keep working. Your appliance videos are the VERY BEST ON YOU TUBE. I would encourage everyone to use the belt your selling . Don't buy from a stranger, purchase the correct belt and all your appliance parts from Appliance Parts Pro and Matt will show you how to install it .......
I can’t explain what a lifesaver this was! Amazing! Thank you so much for making such a helpful video with such clear directions! One million stars out of five.
Appreciate your step by step videos so much that I don’t even look for the parts anywhere else. If you are going to provide such high quality produced videos, I am sending you my money for the parts. FYI - repair went smoothly - belt replaced - works like a charm!
I’ve replaced heating element, belt, idle pulley, and two fuses within two years. Now today I replaced the bearing for the wheel guide for the drum. Again thanks for the video you lead me down a path where fixing the dryer is cake!
I have to agree with other comments. This is the best "how to" video! I love the fact he shows how to reconnect everything. I always have a problem remembering how it goes back together. Thanks!
Great video and THANK YOU!!! We found that we had two problems with our Samsung electric dryer once it wouldn't start. This video help me solve my belt issue with ease. Not only was the drum belt torn I also found out that the nylon pulley for the belt had split apart and froze up. I purchased the parts that I needed and by using this video it made the job simple even though it looks like you are dismantling the entire dryer. I've never done anything like this before and I must say that it was pretty simple. Once you have it apart make sure to check that nylon pulley to make sure it runs smoothly, if not you should order one and replace it. It's simple, one screw. When attaching the belt to the motor and pulley I found that taking the small plate off the back of the unit where the exhaust pipe is, made it easier to install the belt on the pulley since I could see it. One more note… Just make sure to mark your screws by tagging them somehow, paper and tape. Draw circles on a piece of paper and number them. Mark the area where each screw came from and place them in the appropriate circle where they came from. Also while you have the unit apart vacuum it and check the drum wheels to make sure that they are running freely.
Absolutely outstanding instructional video - clear close ups when appropriate, clear overview, concise comments and recommendations , no skipped test, no banter and wasted time. Also the technician do it as a perfect tone for a pleasant easy to understand experience. AAA
Thanks for this video, my brothers landlord wanted to throw away the dryer just because it wasn't working, took it home to try and figure it out, turned out to be a broken belt, fixed a $200 dryer for only $15 thats a sweet deal in my eyes.
Imagine spending $1200 on a dryer and the main thing that makes it works is a tiny 1" wide belt that requires full disassembly to fix *face palm* Anyway, thanks for the video, wife will be happy when I get the dryer fixed tomorrow!
Thank you for your fantastic video! You saved my day, I used a different one first got it apart and back together, was stunned when it went click... watched yours and realized a crucial step was left off the other. Thanks to your high level of detail, it came apart, went back together, when I hit go this time she went... MUCH APPRECIATED. Will look to yours next time. The first time!
You are very welcome. Glad we were able to help you with your repair. If there is anything else we can assist you with in the future please let us know.
Thank you very much for posting this video on this fix. Its well done, thorough, and self explanatory. Saved me many dollars and a service call . Thank you!
i know this is an older post, BUT THIS REALLY HELPED! my model is a bit different on the control panel but looks just like it, now im ready to tackle this! thx! and great job on the video! you guys rock!
Thank you for this video!!! Saved me a ton of money and time.. My belt wasn't broke but my tension pulley had broken.. 29 bucks and this important video and I'm back in business.. Happy wife happy life.. Lol..
Mila Himpsl, You have the reply feature off so I cannot reply to you directly. If you think the belt is stretched and it is causing the belt to slip on the drum and not drive it, you could change it before it breaks, but most people just change it when it breaks.
Well done video! I love hearing the word “easy” at the beginning of it to allay our anxiety of what appeared at first to be a daunting task! We completed it in about an hour and went smoothly! 👍
Great video, super helpful, I had my dryer apart and back together in an hour and she's running great. My only suggestion have a vacuum cleaner on hand as theres a bunch of lint and dust to clean out.
Excellent video. Very detailed instructions. I had to watch the belt and pulley assembly 3 times to figure out how it was done in a space I couldn't see into. Saved me a service call and $$$$
great video as usual! i have a model dv395... it was a "floor model" i was told. it has worked fine for several years, but recently one of the rear roller bearings failed. i purchased an "upgraded" repair kit with belt, idler, spring, screw, and four bearing assemblies. i used all of the new parts and checked and double-checked that the rollers were positioned properly against the drum. lastly, i turned the drum by hand, and everything seemed to be OK, although i thought it was harder to rotate the drum than it should have been. i plugged the dryer in, and the unit would start, but after about 15 secs, it would stop and i could smell a burning odor. a few seconds later, it would start again. i removed the top cover and tried jiggling the drum and it seemed cause varying amounts of tension and release of tension on the drum. eventually, the dryer seemed to work fine. we used it daily for the next three days without issue, inc drying towels. on the fourth day it failed again, with a noticeable acrid burning smell. i took it all apart and found that the rear-bearing roller opposite from the one that failed after years of use, was all chewed up, and much of the rubber was "burned" onto the drum. i used one of the old roller bearings in its place, check it for free movement, used alcohol to remove the burned rubber from the drum, and put it back together. the motor still can not turn the drum, UNLESS i reach in from the open top and push the drum. once it starts, it seems to be fine, but manual push starting is required. any thoughts??? is the motor shot? or am i missing something else with the roller bearings? the drum "felt seals" seem to be "like new" still.
Thanks so much! Fixed our friend's dryer this evening since her husband is deployed ...30 minutes tops and that included 2 reassemblies (I forgot to reconnect the door sensor the first go around). Turns out the belt was fine (a bit stretched), but the idler pulley was completely separated from the bracket. Both came in the kit and now good as new!
Super helpful video, thank you so much! Service was already paid for (geek squad 🙄) but service time was over 3 weeks away! What family can survive 3 weeks without a dryer and no place to hang a line?! Now I have a working dryer again!! YAY!!
I read some of the comments, the belts are on Amazon for 8 bucks, and a 36 dollar kit for tensioner and the rollers the drum sits on and other stuff. But I only needed the belt.
Nice video! Thanks! I was surprised to find that the tensioner-pulley on our dryer was basically seized up! Luckily the kit I got included a new tension arm assembly.
Thanks so much! I now have a working dryer too. I love these Samsungs, … at 15 years I have been able to consistently fix them myself. One comment, I was not able to get the idler pulley on from the front , but took the exhaust port off in the back and it was really easy.
Thank you for this video! I was able to fix our dryer with a $9.00 part! Took about an hour and while a little challenging to get the belt on the pulley, overall it was fairly easy!
I found out if the belt breaks there is a safety switch that keeps the motor from coming on so if belt breaks and you don't hear the motor don't replace motor replace the belt.
Fantastic video!! I was converting my Samsung dryer from rear-venting to side-venting, and this video saved my *ss because it is so great at describing how to take apart and access those sections of the dryer. Bravo!
Wow thanks for the Excellent / Professional DIY video on this matter! Saved us a ton of grief and stress! Keep on making these DIY videos that makes life easily stress free!
Excellent video as always (order placed!), but one question: My drum does not have different colored tape and I did not pay attention which was the front when removing it. At the same time, I can find no markings about "front" and "back" and it looks 100% symmetrical, and seems like it can go in either way. Is this true? Any help appreciated!

How/where did you find a belt for $8? Cost me ~$60.
mine cost 21$

Thank you!
Super video, straight forward, clearly shown as good a repair video as I have watched. Going to replace my belt now with 100% confidence! Thanks!
You're welcome!
My husband's leg is injured, so I wanted to help. This video was extremely helpful!!! Thanks
Just want to say thank you for the video. Saved a ton of money fixing my own dryer!
We are glad that the video was able to help you out!
Bravo! This guy was excellent. Saved me from buying a new dryer!
Very helpful instructions. Thank you.
You are welcome! Glad you were able to fix your issue! If there is anything we can help you with in the future please let us know.
This was a very good video. We were able to replace our drum belt, took a few re-dos (our fault for skipping). Thank you very much!
Everyone pay attention, and wear work gloves because of sharp edges!
This video was just what I needed! Thank you for making it.
Totally just rando cut myself lmao
Perfect video for diy. Fixed my dryer with no issues. Thank you!

Great instructions! Was unsure how to reset the belt around the pulley. Explained it perfectly. Thanks!
You are welcome! If there is anything we can help you with in the future please let us know.
Thank you so much! You just saved me over 200 dollars. My wife and I did this ourselves!
Where did your purchase your new belt?
This video was such a great help, on point with every step from beginning to the end. Thank you!
Great video, super helpful, I had my dryer apart and back together in an hour and she's running great. My only suggestion have a vacuum cleaner on hand as theres a bunch of lint and dust to clean out.
OMGG thank you so soo much!! You saved me $200!! But it took me like an hour instead of 12 mins! Thank you soo much!
This channel is the best. It saved me big bucks twice.
Glad we were able to help you save money! If there is anything we can help you with in the future please let us know.
Nice video. Was very useful and I was able to replace it all by myself without any professional help. Thank you
Excellent video. Very detailed instructions. I had to watch the belt and pulley assembly 3 times to figure out how it was done in a space I couldn't see into. Saved me a service call and $$$$
Ordered a New pulley from your website, old one melted in half.....Great vid.
Thank you !! Keep assisting humanity with your knowledge.
great video as usual! i have a model dv395... it was a "floor model" i was told. it has worked fine for several years, but recently one of the rear roller bearings failed. i purchased an "upgraded" repair kit with belt, idler, spring, screw, and four bearing assemblies. i used all of the new parts and checked and double-checked that the rollers were positioned properly against the drum. lastly, i turned the drum by hand, and everything seemed to be OK, although i thought it was harder to rotate the drum than it should have been. i plugged the dryer in, and the unit would start, but after about 15 secs, it would stop and i could smell a burning odor. a few seconds later, it would start again. i removed the top cover and tried jiggling the drum and it seemed cause varying amounts of tension and release of tension on the drum. eventually, the dryer seemed to work fine. we used it daily for the next three days without issue, inc drying towels. on the fourth day it failed again, with a noticeable acrid burning smell. i took it all apart and found that the rear-bearing roller opposite from the one that failed after years of use, was all chewed up, and much of the rubber was "burned" onto the drum. i used one of the old roller bearings in its place, check it for free movement, used alcohol to remove the burned rubber from the drum, and put it back together. the motor still can not turn the drum, UNLESS i reach in from the open top and push the drum. once it starts, it seems to be fine, but manual push starting is required. any thoughts??? is the motor shot? or am i missing something else with the roller bearings? the drum "felt seals" seem to be "like new" still.
YAY!!
8. years later I followed this to a T and it was easy peasy lemon squeezy. Great job.
I read some of the comments, the belts are on Amazon for 8 bucks, and a 36 dollar kit for tensioner and the rollers the drum sits on and other stuff. But I only needed the belt.
Glad you were able to complete your repair. If we can help in the future please let us know!
Just what I needed. You saved me $400+.

If I could, I would send you money - you just saved me like $200! Thanks!

Great and helpful video! I did not have to replace the belt. Due due an "ID TEN T" error (ID10T). I had a sock stuck in the exhaust blower....

I was surprised to find that the tensioner-pulley on our dryer was basically seized up! Luckily the kit I got included a new tension arm assembly.
This is a fantastic walkthrough. Thank you!

@@appliancepartspros The drum is reversed end for end. Paddles are facing the wrong way in your video.
Fantastic step-by-step instructions - thank you.
Thanks so much! I now have a working dryer too. I love these Samsungs, … at 15 years I have been able to consistently fix them myself. One comment, I was not able to get the idler pulley on from the front , but took the exhaust port off in the back and it was really easy.
The belt on my dryer just slipped off the pulley, I hope is easier to put back from the back side.
Thank you for this video! I was able to fix our dryer with a $9.00 part! Took about an hour and while a little challenging to get the belt on the pulley, overall it was fairly easy!
If you take the vent tube cover off of the back of dryer, it makes it way easier to put the belt on the motor and tensioner.
I found out if the belt breaks there is a safety switch that keeps the motor from coming on so if belt breaks and you don't hear the motor don't replace motor replace the belt.
Ordered this belt and it worked great (my dryer looks different) Second time I’ve used you guys great video very concise!!
Fantastic video!! I was converting my Samsung dryer from rear-venting to side-venting, and this video saved my *ss because it is so great at describing how to take apart and access those sections of the dryer. Bravo!

Excellent video as always (order placed!), but one question:
My drum does not have different colored tape and I did not pay attention which was the front when removing it. At the same time, I can find no markings about "front" and "back" and it looks 100% symmetrical, and seems like it can go in either way. Is this true? Any help appreciated!
Very helpful video. Thank you so much for putting it together.
Thank you very much. You saved me time and money.
Great tutorial as always!
Thank you so much for creating this video!
