Thank you so damn much, it was some of the first drum stuff I learned on my first drum set, I was blown away then, and still am every time I play to it! Him and Jaimoe on drums were like Duane and Dickey on guitar. They complimented each other so well. Butch was the meat & potatoes and Jaimoe was the garnish. They were out-fucking-standing! Not a better tandem drum team in history. ❤️ YOU, BROTHERS!

Nobody Shuffles like Butch Trucks as he was the freight train of the Allman BrothersBand along with Jazz drummer Jai Johnny Johnson.I have never heard two drummers play so well together like a percussion orchestra. Mark Quiones from Newyork city was a perfect combination almost like A Santana Rhythym section. Jaimoes Jazz playing with Sea leavel was some of his best melodic drumming since Fillmoe East. Butch Trucks Drumming all through his 45 years with Abb was amazing. It is hard to find Drummers these days who play with that kind of Skill and dedication almost like a great heavy weight prize fighter with amazing fire. Like to see the younger generation bring those kind of Chops to live perfromances because Butch Trucks, Jamimoe and Mr Mark Quiones always brought the goods. Awesome live drumming and percussion.True professionals just like Warren Haynes and Derrick Trucks. What else can you say????? The absolute joy of playing music you love for people who love your music..... Thats hittin the note!!!!!!!!!!!!

Butch Trucks drumming style was a combination of blues shuffel, country, jazz and rock which came together with awesome dynamic range and very melodic drumming.Listening to Butch and Jaimoe in the original recordings was so powerful and melodic where you could hear them really driving the lead guitar lines along with Berry oakleys melodic thundering Bass playing lead lines along with Duane and Dicky Betts.Drumming style bobbed and weaved with twin guitar melodies Along with poly rhythic drumming in many of thier instrumentals. Carlos Santanas 1969 band played with the same fire an entire unit just like Duane Allmans orignal unit. Thier live shows went from good, very good, excellent, and then like the fillmore east show Amazing!!!! This amazing fusion of so many musical styles along with Gregg Allmans legendary blues vocal put them in a category that you could easily call as legendary.

Love the 12/8 with that one short measure in. With two drummers always thought that the stage volume must’ve been horrendous but the energy from two drummers and Betts and all the great guitar players. The Hammond b3 holy crap. ZI grew up in north Alabama in the era of all those groups. We used to just jam for hours in the music shed behind a friend of mines house. That’s what the Allman bros remind me of. There are great pickers all over the south. I played drums ended up getting a music scholarship paid for college. The funny thing is I couldn’t read a lick of music but I had chops for days. I taught myself how to read traditional music and Nashville charts etc still play almost everyday One thing I’ve really come to appreciate Is how good Greg’s vocals were. I’ve listened to Dickey Betts doing his songs which are great classic southern rock. But Greg’s was something different. Great video!!! The last video I saw of Gregg was doing midnight rider with Zach brown, Vince Gill, with Kenny aronoff at the kit. Just great stuff. It’s really weird because my style of drumming is very very similar to Butch’s. I’m not saying that to brag we probably aren’t far apart in age ( I’m 60) I’ve heard Butch passed away but I guarantee he grew up in the south did some jazz in high school listened to everything from Bonham to Perdie. The jamming, listen to other musicians was very familiar.
