When it comes to grooving', Mr. Purdie is THE BEST EVER. Listen to how much space he leaves, not filling up the groove with useless notes. That is pure genius.
Dan Will You're right man. He has accepted his role in the band and does his part as well as he can. If you can't accept that your job is to keep a steady and groovy beat instead of playing solos, and you're kinda "hidden" behind your kit, you shouldn't really be a drummer.
Kevin N I have always felt that playing quarter note hi hi hat grooves are far more challenging than 8th note HH grooves. With more space in between hits its so much more difficult to match the time perfectly and retain all the dynamics when you have so much space.

People like Purdy have an uncanny ability to link life with art - he spoke about the train in the beginning. It's not only about the drums themselves.
He's my fave drummer of ALL time! Pure soul.
Honestly i get tingles from this... how smooth can a drummer be! T. ASMR addict
The most musical drummer, makes the air in the room have rhythm.
His heart and soul he puts into the drums is just absolutely AMAZING and next level!!!!!
This footage is gold n can benefit any drummer. Awesome stuff being played. A Master.
The ways drummers brains work absolutely amazes me. And Bernard is at the very top of that awe i see in drummers.
I appreciate seeing someone bare a piece of their soul. The man is smooth!!!!
That was a RIGHTEOUS MASTER CLASS Bernard Purdie
THANK YOU.
This vid made me happy.
you know the shit just got serious when Purdie open his eyes...
Even while in a bad mood this just made me smile. Damn that’s some groovin.
I don’t know what’s better the drumming or the grunting, growling humming and huhnk-ing.
Can listen to him all day
I sure hope the young folk in the crowd understand just how much of a monster Pretty is. As a bass player I would LOVE to sit with a human metronome like he is. And more than that, a dude that can flat groove his ass off.
Watching him play never fails to bring a smile to my face. His joy in his playing is infectious, and always so fun to watch.
AN ABSOLUTE LEGEND, THIS IS REAL MUSIC
Dear friend it is nice to see you after long time. Glad you here always doing the best for all your friends.God bless you 🙏
One of my favorite drummers. The man IS rhythm.
I could listen to this man all day. Those drums just FEEL so damn good!
I love this drumming, abit like free worship. Connecting your spirit and soul to the kit and expressing it.
Both masters of their art. Purdie laying it DOWN
The man is a gift and an absolute pleasure to hear and watch.
The movements he does while performing “The Purdie Shuffle” is a straight GROOVE 😩❤️
