R.I.P. MR. BUTCH TRUCKS, YOU WILL BE GREATLY MISSED FOREVER. NOW YOU ARE WITH DUANE, AND BERRY, NOW YOU HAVE A SUPER GROUP IN ROCK AND ROLL HEAVEN, I HOPE THAT THE REST OF THE ALLMAN BROTHERS BAND TAKE A LONG LONG TIME TO JOIN YOU GUYS.... PLAY ON, TO THE BROTHERS OF THE ROAD......COUSIN FIGEL
You will be missed my friend. I wish I could tell you thank you for all of the lessons that you taught me as a drummer, that you didn't even know that you shared with me. I dedicated a song on our channel to you and the band just a few days before you left us. May your soul be at peace friend. Little Drummer Channel
Butch must have been talking about Jaimoe’s solo section in Mountain Jam from Love Valley 1970, and his take on it is spot on. Jaimoe is out of this world on that tune. You can find the video of it here on RUclips.
Alan, almost done with your recently released audiobook "Brothers and Sisters" detailing the post Duane/Berry era. Fantastic work, especially enjoyed hearing the audiotaped interviews interspersed throughout.
Butch Trucks and Jamoie were very different drummers with different responsibilities. Butch drove the beat, and Jaimie was the more Jazzy drummer with texture and fills. They complimented each other so well.
Butch was a hero to me. I can't figure out why he would do this. In front of his wife? WTF dude? Man, what a blow to me and all his fans, no way to explain something like this.
Yes I agree. As a guitarist I wondered when I was young, "Why have 2 drummers?", but once I saw the ABB it became obvious instantly. The instinctive playing between Butch & Jaimoe was something never seen and yet to be recaptured. I met Butch very briefly in Key West back when Derek was just a kid and doing a show in front of the airport there at Martello tower. It was my first introduction to Derek's playing and he was only in his early teens. Blew my mind. Butch was very nice to me and I will never forget that. Godspeed Mr. Trucks.
I go to the brink often. I have depression which is being treated. Maybe Butch had this and sometimes you get the courage to go to the abyss, sad. I'm so sorry
Been lookin into the hat Butchie wore in the early days. Thought it was a Billy Jack hat. But it appears to be a cowboy hat from 1875 called a "boss of the town hat" !!
My understanding is that Jaimo was the first musician Duane wanted in his band. Duane managed to somehow convince him about his idea of starting a band and wanted Jaimo to be the first in....the rest of course was history.
So it looks like putting those two together and the great double-drummer thing in the band just kind of fell together organically, it wasn’t a plan or concept ahead of time it seems like.
@@canankaplan677 Yup. I'm enjoying this as I type. It's impossible to describe how good Jaimoe is here -- a force of nature. Along about 12:30 he starts to pick up the tempo to a ridiculous speed but maintains perfectly. Stunning!
they may not have thought it that way but its hard to explain, that's just simple way to explain it, they were different than ever other dual drummers, most play together strait up, but Butch would hold the fort down and Jaimoe would play these incredible fills they would have a percussion discussion on stage like no other back and forth of the likes we will never see again.
Bless his heart but his golf analogy is whacked! You know why you may have a beautiful swing if you know golf just like if you know how to drum! Also sounds like he was lifting more weights than playing golf‼

RIP Butch. You gave us irreplaceable music. Thank you forever.
Thanks Alan, it's great to see the love Butch had for Jaimoe. RIP Butch.
You're welcome. Glad I captured this. The whole talk was filmed by a real camera... trying to get that.
Two amazing drummers. Very gifted and very unique. Rest in peace Butch Trucks .

Those two were the heart of the band. The others played off their rhythms and made music for the ages.

Yep. Deeply covered in both my books, One Way Out (with Foreward by Butch and afterward by Jaimoe) and Brothers and Sisters.

Rest easy Brother Butch
Adios Butch...hope you find peace and great music along your journey...
Thanks Alan Paul. I'm really enjoying this.
RIP Butch. Now you're up there jamming with Duane and Berry.

RIP....too many lost
Miss you Butch Trucks 💔😓💔
It’s hilarious that Butch thought the Dead sucked. I don’t share his thought on this. It’s completely ok with me, as they ain’t for everybody.
Dang. I want to hear the entire conversation. Also want to hear that drum solo he talked about. Miss you Butch!
That concert is on you tube - "Duane Allman Channel"
Great video!
Great information and enter view

Thanks. All covered in my book, One Way Out: The Inside History of the Allman Brothers Band!

@@trevg9450 :) Working on another one that you're going to love!

The specifics were not planned, but Dusne had the idea of two drummers all along.
Could not make out were this Jaimo solo was would like to see it.
Possibly this from Love Valley? ...starting around 7:50 ruclips.net/video/joafeJQ890A/видео.html

Yes. totally agree with that.
I look at Butch as the timekeeper and Jaimoe as the one that puts the accent's.
@@smitty31560 Not that simple, but essentially yes!
Was this microphone in another room?
It was filmed on an Iphone and not intended to be a final word... that's why I never shared it until alas now.
This video could have been an hour longer, a shame about Mr Trucks.
