Thank you very much for this video. Trying to decide between the vibram 430 and the 700 on a pair of White's BH. Just wanted a "rugged" looking boot for not so rugged casual wear 😁. I live in the NE so grip on slippery surfaces is key, the 430 it is.
Winter can be a son of a bitch in Toronto. I like the idea that the V Bar is more durable but realistically the traction on the 430 for icy sidewalks wins out. Iron Rangers aren't the warmest, but okay for milder winter days.🇨🇦
I had to go with 700s on my White's BH as the size was too wide for 430s. Vibram was supposedly going to release a 430 for the wider sizes, I lost track of it tbh.
I like the cork bits to show from side profile. Just a preference.
We were just talking about the Mini-Lug on Facebook Messenger and then you make this haha

Thanks and God bless you!
Thank you for the video guys great info. Question, did they ever release the brown 430's to you guys or public?
Would you say the 430 would be a good option for someone that works all day on smooth concrete that has a thin film of oil on it most of the time? I'm looking at Nick's boots and this outsole seems the best for my needs, but I'm afraid it's gonna look strange on such a big boot..
I’m looking into Beck Boots and most options come with their Bec-Tec soles (smooth?) but I can’t seem to find much information on them! The only way to get Vibram mini lug/chevron is to go full custom (more $!). Do you have any experience with Beck soles?
So the 700 is the best sole for long-term wear? I have two boots with the 430 and have had good experiences with city and trail use. Is the amount of traction on the 700 that much less than the 430? I have the 100 lug sole on a pair of boots, but don’t like how they seem to always get clogged with mud.
The 430 has a softer rubber that grips better even on smooth surfaces. The 700 is harder rubber so not as grippy but is more durable
Do you know the thicknesses of each?
Between the V-bar & 430, which wear longer?
I'm getting a pair of Nicks made.
Great videos! What would you suggest for someone with cowboy boots that wants a sole protector style that is ice and slip resistant??
For sole protectors against ice and snow the best option would be the Vibram mini lug option. The arctic is an option but it’s not as durable and is just in the full sole option
If you could compare, would you possibly say that Dainite Soles are softer impacting than Vibram V Bar? I know both are generally dependable for durability, but I want something a little softer for my next set of dress sheos
Idk but Dainite is definitely softer than the 430
have a look at red wing beckman as a half sole reference...
That is an option as well. That we put in the protective sole category
Do you and Jason work together? If I send to you for resole can Jason shine them up?
Yea we do some work together so wouldn’t be a problem
Oh shi...! The cameo!
Which is thicker, the V-bar or the 430 mini?
V-bar by a slight amount (I have boots with both).
Can the 700 be stitched?
Definitely
jrharrelson yes
Do the soles of the V-Bar soles come off easily? Mine are slowly coming out
I haven’t come across that problem. Did you leave them in a car or in the sun?
Late to this party but hoping for an answer, but does the 700 have a high heat resistance as well?
It does however not as high as soles that have the Vibram Fire and Ice materials
@@CobblersPlus thank you for the response!
