    Footprint matters!
    Coming from Germany I am so fascinated that such subjects are obviously discussed all around the world.
    As a little child I was happy to listen to my mother when she read the story of Huckleberry Finn for a "in-bed-good-nite-story". And when she finished reading the book - she had to repeat repeatedly.....
    It was so exciting that I wished the story would never end.
    At one point the text said someting like "...Huck also recognized the "cross in the left boot-heel made with big nails, to keep off the devil.". Maybe it was not such an optimal translation - or I was too little to understand the meaning of the cross. But "the cross" in the sole got burned right into my brain.
    In these times in the 60es it happened that I discovered these absolutely superior mountaineers boots which instandly pushed aside everything you could find at that shop. This was the first time it gave a meaning to a shoe shop! Until then just realized as boring upstacles on the way to the toy shop! Imagine this!
    And below these heavy boots I found: the cross! This magic cross of the boots described in Huckleberry Finn´s Story! And this significant yellow hexagon. This was the sole! Given to us from someone far above!
    From this moment on The Vibram Montagnablock was the sign for the ultimate level of strengh, reliability and Quality. The highest end ever to find!
    Now this understanding is still alive. More than 50 years after listening to Huck´s adventures. And since then I would never get the Idea of changing footprint pattern for heavy outside shoes.
    With a little luck I will receive my recendtly ordered Paganella-boots from famous Italian Calzature Dallape before Christmas. Of course with these famous soles of Vitale Bramani everywhere I go to print it in the soil:
    Footprint matters! :-)

      What sole do you prefer between the Vibram 100 Montagna and Vibram 132 Montagna?

      Trying to get to more videos but we are in the middle of moving.
      Between those 2 sole I like the 132 because it’s all one rubber sole. The 100 is designed for a boot that has a separate heel base so great for logger boot and things like that but for every day wear, hiking and construction boots I stay away from the 100 with the separate heel

    • @justinpatrickhoffman

      Cobblers Plus Inc. Regarding the 100, is the separate heel hollowed out at all?

    • @CobblersPlus
      @CobblersPlus  4 года назад +1

      It is slightly but also has a large wall so won’t collapse and will definitely take a while to wear down to the hollow part

    What's the weight difference between the montagna and olympia. I have a client that's 65 years old looking for a ultra comfortable, long lasting walking shoe, miles and miles. I am concerned about the weight, but they love how long lasting the montagna is.

      the white Trento would be interesting on red wing instead of the traction tred sole...

    Do you think the montagna 132 would be good for icy wet conditions? I work in cold environments sometimes, I deliver food so the reefer or truck get wet and icy on the metal or aluminium floor, had a pair of mexican brand cowboy boots that lasted me over 4 years untill the sole was finaly done, started giving me knee pain due to worn out heels and side, but they were awsome in icy conditions never slipped felt well planted. So I just got them resole with the 132 sole due to recomendation from my cobbler, I just hope they are... wish I would of saw you're video before hand I too love the Olympian sole looks good and I think it would do awsome in the trucking world love that it has grip in between heel and toe, these would work great for truckers due to climbing up steps and cat walks ext ext...

    Love sole talk... great to learn about all the options we don’t often see. Btw, “montagna” means, “mountain,” in Italian and maybe other languages. The, “gn,” is pronounced together closer to how, “ng,” would sound: en.wiktionary.org/wiki/montagna

    You've mentioned the 1149 is a newer version of 132. According to the Vibram catalog the 132 has the standard SBR compound. The 1143 has the MegaGrip compound. Can you verify the 1149 is softer and grippier?

    Question: can i replace the rubber heel on my Georgia logger with a vibram 100 heel? Or which heel you recommend? I cant walk with the high logger heels.

    I have always liked Vibram soles
    but I do not like the yellow hexagon with the Vibram TM on it
    Does anyone please have any suggestions as to how I might remove the hexagon
    and without damaging the soles please?

    would it be possible for you to get vibram's panama 2 sole? McRae uses it on their JBII boot. It's the best sole I've ever used for muddy environments.

    I bought the Vibram 132 outsoles and then I noticed that they don't have both the little ©and ®next to the yellow logo, just the ® and also on the heel there's no "Vibram". Are they authentic vibram outsoles?

    Can these be cut and sanded to fit a boot's shape? For context, I have a pair of Chippewa Bridgemans with the off white Vibram Christy sole in Size 10.5 EE. I'm planning to get the 132 sole but in size 12 just to make sure I have no fitting issues with the boot's length and width. What do you think?

    What might look good on a black Iron Ranger without totally ruining the aesthetic or silhouette? I live in Toronto with extreme seasons mind you. They currently have the 430 mini lug. What's the most durable/comfortable for hard city miles.

    • @CobblersPlus
      @CobblersPlus  Год назад

      The 430 is a all around great sole however the Trento will last the longest, the Olympia will have great grip as well as the Montagna

    Are these Vibram soles sewn on or glued on?

    • @CobblersPlus
      @CobblersPlus  4 года назад +2

      These are typically glued on. Most times a mid sole is stitched on the boot or shoe and then the these are glued over that
