This video was awesome because of the history, please do more like this!
Mikko, this video was awesome!! I love seeing how things get started and seeing where they are today. Thanks for sharing!!
Thanks for checking out the video
Thank you for this! Ive tried to read up on Toivo Pylväläinen ever since you mentioned him in one of your pine bark videos. Couldn't find much stuff.
On the subject of foiling lures, using either aluminium tape or copper tape means you can just stick them to the lure, no need to glue them yourself.
Great video and the lure turned beautiful. Rapala is one of my favorites and I love the history of it.
Glad you enjoyed it
I really enjoyed the story along with the build
Thanks Matt
Great video , really interesting , lovely looking lure , wicked action ,
Thank you, glad you liked it
I think I need to try foiling! The look is classic. Nice build of a Finnish heirloom.
Very interesting to here about the old timers they were a different breed to the new folk of today . Very nice homage to yester year Mikko .
Thanks i had fun making this one
I really had know idea about finish lure history, Its crazy how little has changed.
Awesome vid, thanx!
Not only was this another fantastic video showcasing your incredible skills as a lure maker. But the added history behind the lure was a great touch. Even your through wire was a work of art. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for checking out the video
Du bist ein wundervoller Künstler . Danke für die Reise in die Geschichte 👍👍👍👍👍
Nothing beats classic lures.
Great work, as usual
Very cool video Mikko! Awesome history behind it all. I enjoy seeing how ingenious it all comes together.
Great to hear that
You can really tell the similarities with Mr. Lauri legendary lure at the end. Stunning material as always man. Can't wait for your next upload :)
Very good job, thank you for taking the time to put this together
Great work as always!

@@KarelRode 2 words... Howzit... Lekker
Definitely dug the piece of history to come with this lure build. Super cool.
So interesting to see you making the lure and at the same time telling the history of its creator. 👍🏻
Love it!
On the first day of February I caught a 5lb bass with the 3 inch version of this bait. Absolute epic bait! Thanks for the history of it.
Thats pretty cool, you can never underestimate the drawing power of old lures
awesome video one of my favs!
Wow thank you so much, i’m glad you think so

@@st.lawrencemuskyshop285 thanks for checking out the video
Outstanding as usual-my favorite type of video- lure making homage with historical context of pioneering artists that are not well known. Beautiful job! What did he use for epoxy back then?
From what i’ve heard they used to melt film negative type thats no longer being produced in acetone and probably just dip the lures into that concoction. But to be honest i dont know for sure.
I really enjoyed this Finnish history lesson. I do wonder what happened to the cafeteria lady and her baby. The first hook placement is fascinating. Have we all been doing it "wrong" for years? I also began researching the Cork Tree which happens to be a Mediterranean Oak. This means there had to be a good deal of trade between the Iberian countries and Sweden in order to make life jackets.
Rapala Original ! Где-то в коробках еще есть несколько штук.Помню,покупал в 90-х годах у нас,в России, где-то по 8-10 USD.
Хорошо получилось!

Tuota viilaa täytyy kokeilla heti tänään.👍💪
It's the trusted Black and silver Rapala that's cought more walleye than can be counted, Glad you told people the correct pronunciation, what an interesting story but what did Toivo use for epoxy?
I dont think epoxy was invented yet. The legend says that he used film negative and acetone to coat his lures. How exactly? I dont know for sure
Reminds me of the Rapala Original floating minnow
On Engeneered Angler Lures RUclips channel he does something interesting to cut lip slots. He glues two hacksaw blades together, it cuts close to the width of the material he uses with minimal sanding to get a tight fit.
I have done that too in the past, unfortunately i didnt have another blade handy for this video
@@SolarfallBaits I should have remembered that, ADHD brains are fun 😁. I really loved learning about the history in video, I don't think I could have learned this by diving into research on my own.
@@brandonthompson9608 thats great to hear
For lake trout You probably mean Järvitaimen which is a direct translation but..
Lake trout in Finnish harmaanieriä
Järvitaimen in English Brown trout
but in any case thats really awesome Lure mix with some old some new/some Toivo Pylväläinen some Solarbait...
What type of wood is good for crafting lures?
That soly depends on what your making

Will this lure be on the website ?
It will not be, this is just for myself
Ok
But an air compressor is a power tool…?!
I meant i would not use any in the fabrication process
Thank you for this wonderful video filled with the history of fishing lures!
So the founder of rapala was actually just a guy that happened to on the right place at the right time and met Toivo Pylväläinen?
I actually did a video where i explain and use an eraser to create texture in foil, but it never reached the big audience 😊 ruclips.net/video/0QciDTFx6QQ/видео.html
Im not sure if people know this but Lauri’s brother was the more keen and talented lure maker than Lauri but he died during either winter war or continuation war i for get which and lauri and his sons took over the family business. I will have to check out your video, i dont think i ever saw that one.
