Simply the best bait maker at least on RUclips. You keep it simple with materials but come up with outstanding designs, unique baits and of course unmatched pair jobs. By the way, I may have copied your turner design somewhat, modified slightly but same idea. It’s been great for all shapes and sizes of baits and other things I’ve clear coated. Thanks for all you share!!
@@SolarfallBaits I saw on a group someone made a frame for the mesh and when pressed on the lure it kept it nice and tight. Likely something you’ve tried but thought it may be an option for that meshing you used.
Mikko. I always enjoy seeing your videos multiple times. I always learn something new. You're an inspiration to a newbie like myself. Ill give it to you though, you find a way to use materials that I would have never dreamed of using. I hope you and your family are doing well brother. Keep up the outstanding work!
Nice video I have made lures from MDF But I found out the hard way that any flaw or chip in the epoxy or paint And then some MDF will suck up water like a sponge I had 2 of 20 or so lures I made , the finish chipped Those lures had areas swell up over time
That's always a possibility the trick is to let the mdf suck in as much epoxy as possible, i think urethane sealer might be even better cos it's thinner.
@Solarfall Baits definitely will attract some viewers! Mdf is so easy to come by and as you said easy to work with cause it has no grain. Really inspiring and very creative!
The MDF use is fascinating. How would you rank it as far as carving and action? I'm always going to be a natural wood fan but its nice to know it can be done with MDF.
With carving you need to be careful it's kinda easy to shave off too much but that's true with some timbers too so I think you will be good as long as you have a sharp knife. Action wise I would rank it surprisingly good. Only thing I would be careful with mdf is that you need to seal it well. If you get any water damage, the mdf will expand and pretty much tear the epoxy coating open. With sufficient care when applying the sealant this should be a but a small problem.
@@SolarfallBaits Thanks for the reply. I have used some of this .030 thick material for balsa lures for fly fishing. I super glued lips then used up resin to top coat lure. The lure had a fast wobble which is what I wanted. The BAD NEWS the lip BREAkS OFF after a short while. I repeated this experiment 3 more times with shorter lips which broke as well. I am going to try different adhesive before I move on to thicker material. Do you have any other suggestions?
Sounds like you might have used normal polycarbonate to make your lips. The lexan type bends before breaking and you have to bend it a whole lot before that happens. I have never had a 0.30" actually break off.
@@SolarfallBaits Thanks for the info. I ordered some genuine Lexan Polycarbonate, wish me luck. I ordered .020, .030 and .060. Have you ever used material less than .030?
I live in alberta and have been trying to source some good stainless wire . Any stores you suggest ? Wanted to use surgical grade stainless , they use it lots in dental. People say to use 304 stainless for welding that comes in big rolls . But I’ve read some mixed reviews on the welding wire .
I think that you're incapable of making something that's less than perfect. You have incredible talent ! I thank you for sharing with us mere mortals.... Sooo.,... 👀🙌🏼🤙🏽 yup I’ll be getting a new laundry basket 😂 You make it look easy 🤷🏻♂️
Using the block of wood to not deform the scales is such a great idea!
I just used some composite decking from our deck project this past summer. Works pretty good. No grain and carves easy

@paddlehooked4687 I've seen something very similar. I'm not sure how well it would work to get this type of effect though.

Excellent job!!
Great work! Really nice lure and the action looked good too, never seen a lure from MDF before :D!
That's why I did it. Trying to innovative and and appeal to potential viewers who don't watch lure making tutorials

one question, you always airbrush paint on a bait with unsanded Epoxy
Because it’s not necessary to sand epoxy prior to painting.
absolutely stunning bait!
Beautiful bait . As always youre work is
Amazing build as usual and a pleasure to watch. What material do you use for your plastic bill/lip?
It's called lexan polycarbonate sheet that I used for the lip

@fshng2114 I do have some .020 sheets too and they are pretty flexible hence durable.
Hello, were are you buy this screws ? I can,t find this model . I watched all your videos , grandmaster )))
You should be able to find various sites that sell them if you search for screw eyes

I haven't found a good source of wire in Canada yet I get mine from the US at lureparts.com
يمكنك أن تستعمل خفاقة البيض اليدوية انا استخدم منها .
Incredible work, as always. 🤘 💀 🤘
Are you sure that super glue is enough for holding the screw eyes in the soft mdf?
Yes I've done some tests with it and it's surprisingly strong the trick is to drill a hole that is smaller than the diameter of the screw eye
brilliant video as usual ❤
Thanks for checking out the video Keith
Awsome as always 😁👍👍👍 its been a long time since we got a rubberlure .. maby something curly
Yeah its been a while since i made any soft stuff
Wow! Just wow!
I think mdf would be a good material to carve and use to make a mould master from
Yeah I could see that
Beautiful!! What do you use for the clear coat finish?
Check out the description box
Good job my friend 🙏👍👏😉
Super realistic 👍
Damn good job

What angle do you give to the lip?

Depends how deep i want the lure to dive. Steeper the angle deeper your lure will dive
Very nice!🔥
Amazing!!
Thanks for sharing!!
Thanks for checking out the video :)
Thumbs up in my opinion.
Dude you are amazing
Thanks I appreciated it.
Can you do a video on how you made the eyes?
Already have shown it in previous videos like in this one ruclips.net/video/Y2nbmdAuSPk/видео.html
@@SolarfallBaits You are awesome, thank you!
Masterful!
Kestää muuten vettä/kosteutta todella huonosti toi MDF. Parempi olla tarkkana reikien kanssa.
نعم انا ايضا احترت انه ليس جيدا مع الماء وأيضا بودرته سامة عند صقله أرجو الحذر من التعامل مع خشب bdf .
Awsome !!!
