Nice work Franko! To get the UV clear coat to lay flat on larger baits, you have to allow the bait to turn on your dryer for 20 minutes or so. Ensure that the coat is indeed flat before turning on the UV light.

Wow!! I want to make one for pike fishing! Maybe clear coat got warped because it was too thick or you should have left it spinning with lights off for longer or the opposite, I'm sure you will experiment with it. Maybe even spray like 3 layers with airbrush.
Another thing is, maybe you could revisit copper top paint job you did with transparent paints some videos ago (silver plated, gold, copper and black scales). I can only see the video in 480p for some reason and it just doesn't do it justice.
Nice design, I would have used a through wire and added a nice shiny silver Propellor on the back with a little red bead before and behind it to give it a little more flash in the water- sea trout seem to really like that.
The propeller would add too much drag to the back and stop the action that I was designing for....but on a true glide bait that would be pretty good idea.
Just discovered your channel, and I am not at all disappointed! Beautiful job, interesting action, and I can't wait to see how it fishes!

A little advice from someone who loves throwing massive topwaters: on big walking baits, having three trebles is key for a good hookup ratio.
Man that’s the opposite of what we do when surf fishing in the northeast but I guess it depends what you fish for- I would never land a fish with two trebles for the fish to leverage let alone three.
For any northeast “one hook solution” followers out there, I’ve been using a 5/0 assist hook with an offset point rigged canal style using a 310lb Krok swivel with thick and/or flat sided baits and the hookup ratio is superb. And of course the hookset power is as good as it gets with only one hook point but the hook gap is big enough to fit the jaw of a 40, 50, and even 60lb class bass

When throwing 12” musky baits 3 treble hooks is a must have. Less than 8” it is more optional for those little guys.😅

The brush is a soft bristle artist's brush that made a little container for.

Hey nice work, had a question about your airbrush. Do you soak yours when you’re not using it in water or airbrush cleaner or just leave it out?
No, I clean out the paint.
Being color blind, I think I focus on what I'm screwing up on colors more than anything else. If you were going to use two colors (orange/yellow) and you wanted scales, would it be better to spray yellow, put on the mesh, and then spray orange; or the opposite? Or am I over thinking this and it's just personal preference?
It's all just your preference...be free and experiment.
Im sorry franco, this question may little bit off topic from lure build. But maybe you can give some enginering and physic side and explanation of about it.
Im gonna ask you how you rig your lure with snap or splitring to connecting it with leader? Im ask topic this because im sometimes overpowering that hardware too much and get some effect into my lure action. I hope you can explain the design on snap and splitring how it works with your knowlegde😊.
I never found explanation about it in internet, all just is about promotion and said this good and strong. But sometimes i ask my self do i need that super super strong hardware ? but the shape is wierd, and are this strong enough?. I can't answer for this thing for myself.

will the twist eyes still perform as well in a softer wood such as basswood or would you recommend a harness in basswood
Basswood is still pretty hard, but it really depends on the target species.
You have to take them all and give them a swim, they are just to good not to.

Almost anything works for saltwater fish, so the priority is always given to a lures durability over its comparable effectiveness. A soft plastic lure may attract strikes with every presentation, but what good is it if it's only good for one catch? It's why wood is used much less than metal or reinforced hard plastic for lures. Without an efficient economy of scale, durability will always be favored by saltwater anglers.
I have to disagree just a bit...if it won't catch the fish I want, it doesn't matter how tough the lure is. I don't need heirlooms in my tackle box. But as a lure maker I know I have the luxury to not worry too much about durability. Thank you for the thoughtful comment.
@@EngineeredAngler ah yes! I agree 100% That really is a luxury that lure makers have. We're always experimenting. So much so it's tough to want to use a productive commercially available bait sometimes. Because we already know the likely outcome. But when there's a skunk to eliminate, absolutely. The best outcome is definitely as you've explained, when nothing else will work, (especially a popular commercially available lure) except the lure you created.
Could the wobble in the clear be from too thick of a clear coat on a big lure? Like it couldn't flow enough to evenly cover the entire surface.
I think he should have sprayed it with airbrush in 3 thinner coats and set each coat before spraying the other. More work but would have probably worked out better.
I think it took me so long to put the coat on, with too small a brush, that the bit of sunlight through the window started it setting.
That thing is going to get hammered!!
