Two point here : - Use MSI afterburner for FPS monitoring and not in game FPS counter. If I recall, the ingame fps counter is bugged and actually don't report the exact correct number - DLSS is mostly likely useless in your case, on a 3090 .. your GPU is used at 60-70% max, even at 4K, since the game is heavily CPU bound Just checking the DLSS off average you have between 1080/1440/4K is already showing the game isn't limited by your GPU at all. Switching to 4K on a game that uses correctly all of you GPU will halve your FPS People having 2060/3060 will be the ones where it's usefull Also BSG has pretty much nothing to do for implementation, it's plug and play from Nvidia directly
DLSS basically just let me max out at 1440 with no fps change. If I drop settings I only gain about 5fps. I sit between 85-100fps no matter if its all low or all maxed. I feel like I have a setting somewhere restricting my game from pushing high fps and its not a vsync issue I dont think because I struggled with it before this. Have a 10700k and a 3080 and sit at 95 fps with 30% Cpu and 65% GPU util while on quality DLSS and not much changes when I go to balanced or performance or low and max, just less gpu utilization.
Try upping your settings to hit 95%+ usage on your card, then enable dlss and you will 100% see the difference. If your card is so beefy thats not even possible then dlss is not beneficial for you anyhow.
I tested DLSS ON at Balance I think. Running at Lighthouse getting 80fps, but when I scope in on 4x, the scope view is very jagged and unclear, it also dropped the fps to 50fps and below. Maybe wrong setting but the DLSS is OFF for now.

You forgot to mention at the startt, that FSR also works with all of the nvidia lineup, not only works on AMD and 20 to 30 series, it works on the 10 series for sure, and the 900 series iirc from nvidia side, This is going to be interesting when FSR comes up and we will be able to test and compare both technologies in the same game. EDIT: I would love for people to make these comparisons specially since I have a 30 series GPU and would love to use the one that gives me more FPS, but doesn’t reduce Image quality that much
I was on the verge of tears when I heard that nvidia players were getting 2 options specifically for their graphic cards but now knowing that we are getting our own option relief washes over me in an awesome way
Every single video on this topic seems to be preceded by " I don't really understand DLSS". I'm legitimately curious as someone who kept up with it since it was announced, is it that hard of a concept to understand? Also people calling FSR an AMD competitor to DLSS seems misguided when they work completely differently .
Personally I've been running Nvidias new and improved DSR option (DLDSR) and have been having a solid fixed fps with splendid looks. The DLSS may have put off a tiny bit of the work but it made it all ugly instead and the zoom on scopes are either blurry now or they put out lights making long range impossible so hybrids are of no use atm either
i'm curious what you've landed your settings on now that DLSS has been out for a couple weeks. I just built a new rig with a 3080 ti and a 1440 monitor and would love to know what your verdict is. thanks!
Dlss made my game run at 160+ 120 lowest on all maps on a native 1920x1080 monitor upscaled to 4k i have also done some file tweaking to make up for the long range quality loss in this case this is a W update from tarkov.
In Tarkov, my GPU usually only gets 30% of use while my CPU usually gets to 100% most of the time. Kinda sucks, since that probably means DLSS won’t do shit for my 50 fps ass
u can only use DLSS if u have RTX+, but if u have RTX+ the chances are whats limiting ur fps is ur cpu anyway, so this brings like 0 fps boost to most people unless you're playing at 4k or smth
On and Off with my current settings at Quality mode made no major difference other than blurry textures. If for some reason it works for you, try increasing the sharpening setting above 1. I cant stand it especially in outdoor areas. Tree lines not that far away have a noticeable blur and I def wont be able to stop enemies as easily. For whatever reason though my overall framerate has increased with the latest patch and I now stay above 60 (at least on Interchange so far).
I tried dlss and I couldn't stand the sight ghosting and blurriness. I primarily use a 1/6x scope and its super blurry when aiming down sights. One thing I am surprised that you didn't mention was the aiming down sights darkness. With some scopes it would be so dark when aiming down sights sometimes that interchange in broad day makes it feel like factory at night. It also had some weird physics with bright lights like flashlights and spotlights. I am not sure if they fixed that lighting bug and that is why you didn't mention it but that was my second contestant with why I keep that setting off.
Honestly, a pretty bad use of DLSS. Tarkov just doesn't behave well enough to benefit from it. You are almost never GPU bound in this game unless you're on an awful system. The CPU usage is so high compared to GPU that the only benefit you'll get from it is in an offline raid with no AI, where CPU use is low, allowing your GPU to be your "bottleneck". The only good this about this addition is how much focus it draws on optimization, and I really think this is going to force BSG to work on it in the future.
I cranked my settings to max with my 3060 ti and 5800x and got about 80 fps with dlss on interchange, i changed everything back and disabled it and my fps shot up to 110 lmfao
@@Opachki69420 Yeah. The point was to let people play on higher settings, since you are almost never GPU bound in tarkov unless you’re max settings on interchange or lighthouse. But it looks so bad that any graphical fidelity gained in improving your settings is lost in the terrible resolution. Even for me, upscaling to 1440 on quality is awful. Especially the trees.
Battlestick games needs to test their game before they let an update go live or something. If you turn on DLSS and you're using a variable zoom optic then the site picture is both over sharpened and also blurry. I don't know how to describe it and it will tank your FPS now. Mind you this is only when You ADS with a variable zoom like a voodoo or attack 30, but that's still a big part of the game for a lot of people and it makes this feature unusable
Dlss literally only starts to works on factory and labs where your gpu starts going off. On the other maps your gpu is just taking a snooze, it makes no sense. I keep it off, they only thing that really gave me significant gains was just upgrading my cpu again to a 12900k. Hopefully the new Unity engine change will bring the most to performance.

Well I bumped up from Medium graphics to high and left shadows the same. Went from 70-80 while recording and before switching to high graphics I got like 120-150 fps and when I switched to High it was like 100-130 which I’m ngl it’s a very nice increase in performance. @@dynamite5198 in fact it can make the game run AND look worse if you dont need it. on my 3060ti/5800x setup i actually lost frames and fidelity in 1440p

And recently it seems no matter what setting st all I do I always get only 60-90 fps. That’s on ultra or low settings. And I only get 50-55 percent GPU usage. So you have any recommendations?
It definitely isn't working correctly. I've had lots of issues with upscaling not working properly and ghosting. It doesn't seem like the AI is properly upscaling the game. It's not just me either, I've talked to numerous people who had the same issues.
I’ve noticed a slight increase in FPS today. About 15 frames. I’m mostly maxed out, 4K, and I have it set to quality. Getting roughly 100-120. However, I do have anti aliasing on as well. I am gonna turn that off now and see if I get even more. I’m running a 3070ti, 32gb 3600, and a ryzen 7 3700x. Decent build, and I’ve always gotten ok performance. Never over 100 though. So far, I’m happy with the update. How bad does POSTFX hit your system?
VoX_E and any one watching this. CPU bottleneck. Tarkov is poop at CPU useage. Well its not bad its just inefficient with how it handles thing so CPU gets held back. examples: Factory and Labs = great FPS Reserve and lighthouse = Poop FPS. Why? its not because the maps are more optimized. Literally its because the maps are smaller. Less for the CPU to manage. Also this is exactly why turning up overall visibility past 400 is the biggest FPS drain. VoX_e as good as a content creator he is he still overlooked some simple stuff and missexplained things. I don't blame him literally every youtuber is. BSG needs to add visibility tick of 600 atleast because 1000 is just ridiculous and anything higher is actually useless and also makes no difference in performance because 1000 seems like the top end anyways for map sizes. Maybe when open world comes out itll make sense but its still stupid we are limited to 400 then 1000.
DLSS is really good for me because I increased all my settings(except shadows(for visibility, because if shadows were high quality and goes long distances, I won't be able to see my enemies) and Object LOD Quality(this setting just consumes your FPS no matter what you are using DLSS or not, DO NOT INCREASE OBJECT LOD QUALITY, YOU CAN TEST ITFOR YOURSELF). DLSS just kept my FPS high with high quality graphics, I was using everything off except texture quality high, antialiasing TAA High and Overall Visibility 3000 but right now my settings are all maxed out except shadows and object lod quality. Alongside with DLSS, I am also using DLDSR technology for increasing my resolution without sacrificing too much FPS. My monitor is 1080p but with DLDSR I can use 1680p. With DLSS + DLDSR, Tarkov looks insanely good and my FPS is still high enough. Without DLSS, my GPU usage is around 90%-100% with all these maxed out settings and DLDSR but with DLSS on it downs to 45%-55%.The only problem like said in this video is ghosting, scope reticle blurness and nightvision. I hope these problems will get fixed. I recommend you to use DLSS with DLDSR if you are using 1080p monitor if you want to use DLSS anyways.

Why would you use DLSS and FSR together? They have the same effect. Your game must look like a muddy mess.
@@_Bonez12 ooh, you right. I meant DSR.
@@MasonFPS That makes more sense, but you still shouldn't use both, unless you have a 1080p panel and are using DSR as antialiasing or something.
@@_Bonez12 I dunno man, it looks great. Better than just straight 1440p.
Finally got 4080ti and checked out what DLSS is.
This was more than enough info to realize that having it on OFF is insane. Thanks!
Thanks Vox E mate. Knew you'd be doing a decent job of this.
Two point here :
- Use MSI afterburner for FPS monitoring and not in game FPS counter. If I recall, the ingame fps counter is bugged and actually don't report the exact correct number
- DLSS is mostly likely useless in your case, on a 3090 .. your GPU is used at 60-70% max, even at 4K, since the game is heavily CPU bound
Just checking the DLSS off average you have between 1080/1440/4K is already showing the game isn't limited by your GPU at all. Switching to 4K on a game that uses correctly all of you GPU will halve your FPS
People having 2060/3060 will be the ones where it's usefull
Also BSG has pretty much nothing to do for implementation, it's plug and play from Nvidia directly
Was waiting for your video dude! Your settings always work so well for me (8700k at 5ghz and 3070)
man your guides are so helpful thank you :)
I tested DLSS ON at Balance I think. Running at Lighthouse getting 80fps, but when I scope in on 4x, the scope view is very jagged and unclear, it also dropped the fps to 50fps and below. Maybe wrong setting but the DLSS is OFF for now.
And when the world needed him most, he vanished
Finally, a good guide for DLSS in Tarkov.
I will be making an updated settings guide soonTM, Obviously the ones I used were to stress my GPu as much a spossible to see DLSS in action.
Have any questions?

You forgot to mention at the startt, that FSR also works with all of the nvidia lineup, not only works on AMD and 20 to 30 series, it works on the 10 series for sure, and the 900 series iirc from nvidia side, This is going to be interesting when FSR comes up and we will be able to test and compare both technologies in the same game.
EDIT: I would love for people to make these comparisons specially since I have a 30 series GPU and would love to use the one that gives me more FPS, but doesn’t reduce Image quality that much
Forgot to mention, It is a great video
I was on the verge of tears when I heard that nvidia players were getting 2 options specifically for their graphic cards but now knowing that we are getting our own option relief washes over me in an awesome way
rx480 in list . wow
Would this help for a 1080p monitor with a rtx2070 super ? What settings do you run on dldsr?
With a 3050ti I saw only 2fps boost with quality. And a 4fps boost with balanced. Ehh it's a cheap graphics card so I can't complain. 🤷♂️
Try disabling SSR completely. The ghosting is from changes in how they managing the reflections.
they need to make a 95% resolution option for dlss so you can use it as antiliasing instead of an upscaler xD
You're so thorough. Really nice, man.
Also, nomenclature - lol the IQ on this lad
great video VOX
Good VoD, now, how is 2024 in Tarkov better, DLSS on Quality or TAA High?
i'm curious what you've landed your settings on now that DLSS has been out for a couple weeks. I just built a new rig with a 3080 ti and a 1440 monitor and would love to know what your verdict is. thanks!
We miss you big time Vox-e! Pogu!
no. maybe if ur in native 4K but scopes are extremely blurry even w dlss off. nice patch /s
Main resolution out there: Nice
My resolution 3440x1440: Rip
The ghosting effect reminds me of being outside the map in Halo 3
Wish they didnt take 5 steps backwards with this update… The scope bug is a huge deal and not sure how it even got past them prior to releasing.
What settings should i use with this CPU : i7-8700K
Motherboard : Asrock Z370 Taichi
Graphics Card : EVGA RTX 2070 8G
SSD : Kingston A400 240GB
HDD : Seagate Barracuda 1TB
Memory : Corsair Vengeance LED DDR4 3200 2x8 (16G)
Honestly... as with most games, DLSS is there if you plan to play at 4k, anything below that is bad.
I have a 3070ti and tested both DLSS options. I had an issue when using scopes that the image quality so fuzzy and distorted, I had to turn it off
I have a 3070 and had the exact same problem
I had huge drops when scoping in.
AMD does offer RSR for image upscaling for performance (works inside of tarkov)

@@Opachki69420 what resolution you run? Dlss runs best at higher resolutions 2k+
@@aidanmaguire4740 I play 1440p pretty much max settings(except shadows and ssr are on low)
Thanks for the in depth video!
Noticed a massive difference between offline and online dlss. Whereas i was gpu limited in offline, my gpu didnt even reach 50% in online. So dlss didn't do anything. And i had double the fps in offline. Sadly still around 70 fps and lower on lighthouse.
hey at least you can play horde mode offline and not have your pc burst into flames lmfao
Huge bump in FPS. When not recording My rig gets about 80-90fps on customs (medium graphics & medium shadows) but while recording it’s like 70-80. Well I bumped up from Medium graphics to high and left shadows the same. Went from 70-80 while recording and before switching to high graphics I got like 120-150 fps and when I switched to High it was like 100-130 which I’m ngl it’s a very nice increase in performance. I’m only running a 11600k, 3060 OC, and 16gb 3200hz ram, I only use SSD as storage so it’s on a SSD as well. I also have always used 1440p as my res
They seem to add more and more unneeded stuff instead of fixing the real problems. For example the net code. And I am pretty sure there are much more solid ways to improve FPS than dlss
What happened with you Bro ?
Any new fps guide video?
I might play tarkov again my 2060s doesn’t do too well with a 1440p monitor
You are the best!! great video. thanks
For me, the DLSS performance mode is greyed out. Only balanced and quality is available
1x scopes look like an acid trip for me with dlss on
come back bro, tarkov needs u
I get an extra 30-45 frames on every map with Max settings. I do have a pretty monstrous PC. But the difference is large for me and my other buddies who have more moderate rigs
if you have a nivida card on a "beast of a pc" if your nivida control panel was set up right you'd see how minimal DLSS is
@@dynamite5198 in fact it can make the game run AND look worse if you dont need it. on my 3060ti/5800x setup i actually lost frames and fidelity in 1440p
After testing even on quality it makes the game a lot more blurry with little fps increase. I’ll be leaving it off and hopefully someday they can make some better optimization fixes
Birds with contrails is pog
Hey @VoX_E, I have been keeping up with your videos regarding Tarkov performance. And it has help loads. As of late I have gotten a new rig. 3070Ti with a ryzen 7 3700X and 32gb 3600Mgz ram. And recently it seems no matter what setting st all I do I always get only 60-90 fps. That’s on ultra or low settings. And I only get 50-55 percent GPU usage. So you have any recommendations?
hey so quick question, do you have a genuine reason to have such a huge amount of ram? i assume its for work productivity with videos?
I can't use dlss 1660..but I've noticed a real bad down grade when using scopes idk if anyone else is having this problem
Me too man atleast now I know what caused it
It definitely isn't working correctly. I've had lots of issues with upscaling not working properly and ghosting. It doesn't seem like the AI is properly upscaling the game. It's not just me either, I've talked to numerous people who had the same issues.
Wow, this was a huge letdown, got barely 10 more FPS when the videos demoing it showed 20-30 FPS increase. What a ripoff
Why do you recommend balanced over quality for 2560x1440? I dont understand it when i look at the results ? Please explain ty
I feel like in 12-18 months Veritas will be making a video why you should be using DLSS *cough* steam audio
you are cpu bound dude as are all of us
I’ve noticed a slight increase in FPS today.
Your extra 16GB of ram is giving you a boost for sure. I only have 16GB at 3600mhz and use a 3080
Not sure dlss is for me I have a 3070ti but it makes all the trees on woods look super blurry
Same...
VoX_E and any one watching this. CPU bottleneck. Tarkov is poop at CPU useage. Well its not bad its just inefficient with how it handles thing so CPU gets held back.
examples:
Factory and Labs = great FPS
Reserve and lighthouse = Poop FPS.
Why? its not because the maps are more optimized.
I use a 1080 and feel it runs better now after patch, than before patch.i can't comment on dlss tho.
Tarkov is optimised as well as a dogs breakfast .
Lighthouse represent 🤩🤩
Wow is this a reunion?
Looks like there is more tradeoffs than gains. My bird watching got extreme ghosting, extremely distracting.
Been a while since you posted, where is VoX_E?
Stop making thumbnails like this, so we don't feel like you think we have a pea in where our brain should be.
No... I don't think I will
@@VoXEonYT I see you want to fool people that have no idea what is going on. You want them to go "Ow Me LoWd +100FpS ?". Ok then, but the people who know it isn't real and are watching your vids will hesitate before clicking the video becaus of the thumbnail. It doesn't matter too much for me.
Went from 90 to 140 fps in Offline raids.
Online its back to 60-75 fps.(no improvements...)
what do you think can be done about the scopes? for instance when in the construction area on customs I used to be able to see through the glass in crack house with a vudu. now all I can see is blurry blue glass.
Crazy to think that 5950x can get stomped by a £80 12100 for gaming.
@VOX_E are you going to use DLSS if yes which would be your settings? If Not your settings are the same as the last video you made about FPS? Consider that I have your same gaming PC so I can replicate your settings 1 by 1
So conclusion; Dont use DLSS unless you struggle with performance..
This is cool to see but nothing I gotta worry about with my gtx 1050 lmao
Should I only use this if I have RTX?
I think this is most useless option for tarkov i was waiting for 120+ fps with dlss and its same with off option . İ got 3080 ti with 70 fps
pOST A NEW VIDEO i am missing you my man
u alive mate?
I hear visual complaints. When utilized correctly there should little to no visual difference and should see a bigger FPS boost. 5 fps boost AR 1440p? The fuck? EFT Is just optimized terribly and DLSS won't fix that.
