Great video, its nice that you go through the settings and tell the viewer what they actually do instead of just giving up your values and get on with the next one. Im running a 7800x3d and a 6800xt on 1440p with high textures and for those who has hardware related questions all i can say is that memory either if its cache, vram or ram has huge effect on your fps. I just upgraded from a 7700x to 7800x3d and on the same settings my fps on Streets went from 80-90 to 120-135, it seems like the x3d processors where made for Tarkov and poorly optimized games. Also VRam is insanely important by the looks of it, with 16gb of Vram on the 6800xt i average around 20fps more than a friend of mines setup (7800x3d and 4070 super(12gb of Vram)) and we are using the same ingame settings.
Quite interesting what you say about graphic cards because in most tests which I saw on youtube 4070 Super has got around 20-40 fps more than 6800xt in Tarkov.
@@El_Satan for pure rasterized performance thats not true. Our comparisons are done with same settings and no DLSS or FSR enabled on 1440p. All testing done on streets, live on pvp servers this wipe. I think it would have be useful to test the difference on other maps tbh. The reason I say that is the difference is probably most noticeable on streets(and likely LH to a lesser extent) due to the performance cost of running streets w/ high settings, but on other maps the extra vram is likely less of a difference maker and Id imagine that the performance is likely fairly similar(perhaps even slightly better/more stable for the 4070 super) on some maps. But yes to get the best performance on memory hog maps like Streets/LH, you basically NEED a 7800x3d, and a gpu with a ton of VRAM.
@@Handcannon77 I hear you, but it’s meaningless to test hardware on a map where you’re neither cpu or gpu bound. Streets is the toughest map to run, other maps we are both at max fps but we haven’t tested LH yet
Ram also plays a huge role in poorly optimized games like tarkov. Back when Tarkov was still new. I had an 8700k with a 980ti. Friend had an 8700k with a 2080ti. I had 3600mhz ddr4 ram o.c.ed to 4000mhz and tight timings. He had 3200mhz budget ram loose timings. We got damn near the same fps. when in reality his build should be about 20%+ more fps than me.
The anisotropic bug is related to nvidia control panel. Since you enabled x16 in the past and then switched to controlled by app, it is actually turned off. You need to use nvidia profile inspector, select the tarkov profile, and search for anisotropic there, its going to be turned off (you control panel its going to show you "controlled by app"). Just restart the entire profile in profile inspector and there you go, tarkov anisotropic filtering its going to work again.
I was able to run escape from tarkov pretty smoothly with two gtx 980’s until this recent wipe then my pc didn’t meet the system requirements anymore, I now have a 7900xt and a Ryzen 7 7800X3D but man it was a miracle I was able to run tarkov for so long mainly and really only due to that 2nd gtx 980 giving me 8gb of vram instead of just 4 but those days are over!!!!!
So... for my 7800x3d with 32gb 6000mhz and RTX 3070 better to off Only Use of Phys cores and off AutoRamCleaner and use similiar to your Settings on 2560x1440? Also about Page file where I should set it? I have game on system ssd - Samsung 990 Pro 1TB and set Page file on second SSD - 980 Pro with system managed (windows takes ~20gb).
My only thoughts would be: Maybe Low VS Med / High VS Ultra with shadows might be how shadows move? Static shadows look the same, but maybe dynamic shadows appear different at the different levels?
I have a tip no one ever says. If you have a large 1440p monitor...you can switch to 1080p WITHOUT scaling. Imagine your screen with a thick black box around it kinda like widescreen movies that have the black on top and bottom. This way you don't get that nasty blur when it's stretched. I gain about 30fps playing like this. And it doesn't bother me whatsoever because my monitor is bigger than I like for shooters. and it's as easy as using Nvidia control panel to set it up. I play mmos and arpgs in ultra wide screen with no scaling as well.
@@nestorportela6771 not the original commenter, but still gonna save your ass: with an NVIDIA based gpu: go to Nvidia control panel, select the "Size and position" option on the nvidia control panel, set the resolution to 1920 x 1080 with your current monitor frecuency, select "screen" on the "perform scaling on:" option, and finally, what you wanted, select the "No scaling" option, hope this helps!
@@genkugames9616 hehe thank you. You nailed it. The extremes we go to just to get tarkov to run halfway decent 😅 I do realize this isn't something everyone would want to do. But if you got a large 1440p monitor...it's worth at least trying for a day. You eventually don't even notice it
@@wessredd7237 you could also set it down to 1440p and then downsample tarkov to .75! I used to have a really bad gpu and doing that kind of made it playable, any more than .75 will make it too pixelated to play anything sadly
Hey Klem, thank you for the vid! About the shadows, I think the sun shadows on factory work differently compared to other maps. I've been playing on low and medium shadows, and normally there's a noticeable drop in shadow definition some meters away from you, with at least one more drop off point farther in the distance. But in factory my distance didn't affect the shadow quality at all. I haven't done any proper side-by-side testing, but I believe on medium the drop off points are farther away from you compared to low. Not sure if the shadow resolutions are different. I currently like using medium shadows to get a bit more "premium" look at a low cost. Some other things I wanted to say: Last wipe I tested LOD, and it also affected the max distance you can see other characters, at least scavs. Also turning down FOV had the same effect as increasing LOD in terms of view distance. Noise removes (or reduces?) color banding, which can be very noticeable if you've used post fx to help you see better in the dark. I also think noise helps having no anti-aliasing look just slightly less distracting. On my system there's a clear difference between anisotropic filtering off and per texture, so there's something going on with yours.
in factory, i believe the shadows are all baked into the map, while dynamic shadows are from players and player generated lighting. i'm not sure if the rework changed this, however.
I made a video about that player loading in thing but forgot to mention that issue here. (Have not tested if its still in this wipe though). Shadow distance is something I forgot to test, and I will try to test that as soon as I can. I will post any correction in the pinned comment :)
since im the brokest motherfucker on this earth i figured out how to optimize performance even more. I made it possible to run this game relatively smooth on 8 gigs of ram disable full screen optimization for tarkov, start in borderless, close browser because it takes a lot and the hidden secret is end the explorer when tarkov is running. i made a solid jump from 50 fps on completely low to avg 70 fps. Give it a try. great video and what an effort you spend man. well done keep up
He is true tho. Disabling anything maintenance related in windows and not letting windows to suck as much resources as it wants will give Tarkov a big boost.
Game still runs great on my 1070TI. Can’t believe we’re up to 4000 series cards and it’s still hanging just fine.
1080TI here!
you are the best tarkov settings tutorial maker fr
Great Vid, super helpful, game stopped being choppy and got more frames, GJ
Now I’m just deciding if I want to run fsr or not
Dude this video is awesome. Thank you for the time and explanations. 10/10.
Amazing video brother. liked and subbed
🎉 Klem gonna hit those flame graph profiles soon.
As always excellent guide!
Great video man, thank you
Cheers bud , gonna test it out now
Great video, thank you for your work brother!
Very detailed. Much appreciate.
you're right, anisotropic filtering seems to be bugged. I noticed it too.
So is it just on no matter what now?
Best video ever for tarkov settings!
BRAVO! Playing on my bravio, BRAVO SIR!
You and I are running the same GPU so this helps me a lot
Thanks for doing what you do mate!
Thank you for being here, man! :D
Big g. Fps went from 80 to 140 real quick
So... for my 7800x3d with 32gb 6000mhz and RTX 3070 better to off Only Use of Phys cores and off AutoRamCleaner and use similiar to your Settings on 2560x1440? Also about Page file where I should set it? I have game on system ssd - Samsung 990 Pro 1TB and set Page file on second SSD - 980 Pro with system managed (windows takes ~20gb).
Medium Shadows helps with the close shadows like your body shadow, compared to low
thanks a lot for the video! liked and subscribed 👍
With low LOD players at distance will be invisible, I recommend to set it at least 3
Amazing video!!
100 percent usage does not mean bottleneck
How exactly do you do this if you don’t mind explaining please?
@@genkugames9616hmm..Imma give that a try. I just got a better PC but tarkov. Still trying to optimize the crap out of it 😅
Thanks for this, very informative! :)
Great vid man
rlly good video sir
Goat video My brother
Even my own character's shadow doesn't lose quality with distance, so they really work differently compared to other maps.
@@arttuvienamo1181 for sure, maybe labs works a similar way?
@@feneomgamer9138 I actually haven't tried, but it would make sense if it did
I made a video about that player loading in thing but forgot to mention that issue here. (Have not tested if its still in this wipe though).
Shadow distance is something I forgot to test, and I will try to test that as soon as I can. I will post any correction in the pinned comment :)
since im the brokest motherfucker on this earth i figured out how to optimize performance even more. I made it possible to run this game relatively smooth on 8 gigs of ram
disable full screen optimization for tarkov, start in borderless, close browser because it takes a lot and the hidden secret is end the explorer when tarkov is running. i made a solid jump from 50 fps on completely low to avg 70 fps. Give it a try. great video and what an effort you spend man. well done keep up
wdym end the explorer when tarkov is running
He is true tho. Disabling anything maintenance related in windows and not letting windows to suck as much resources as it wants will give Tarkov a big boost. I’m running streets in 50-60 fps on my 1050ti lmao.
Any other map is ez 70+, labs 80+
(32 5200 ddr 6 ram tho(running in 4800 cuz fuck the boost))
What do you mean disable full screen optimization? I’m a clown when it comes to PC stuff.
I have a rtx 4080 super and still get A LOT of shimmering and the power lines look crazy blocky and disjointed on taa high. Any thoughts?
I’ve went from last wipe being 180s to this wipe in the 130s. Nothing I notice but can’t imagine on lesser cards
Thanks! Super super helpful
Thank YOU! Much appreciated :)
Hey klem good content !
I use dlss 3.7 its a little mod you need to do in game folder theres a good vid on youtube for tarkov. Game looks verry crisp with minimal fps loss in gpu bottelneck situation
just earned my sub! amazing, detailed guide for those who want the game to look actually decent and not a fortnite wannabe
I was waiting for you to drop a video.
