UPDATE: I've heard from palante that the waistband material has been updated, so the slippage shouldn't be an issue anymore. It doesn't look like the fanny pack is currently listed on their website so I don't know what's going on there. Hope that helps!
Thanks for the review. I'm getting ready for PCT in 2022. VLOGGERS sometimes talk about their fanny packs, but few review them or even list them with their gear. Good topic.
Also subbed, please make more reviews or videos. Really enjoy relaxed style. A tent review and how it worked on thru hike would be awesome. How did the Zpacks hold up in the different terrain and weather?
I have the Palante fanny pack and I had almost the same issues exactly. And I really wanted to like it. Way over priced. Got the Gossamer Gear bumster, much cheaper and I am very happy with it. $25.
Personally, I dont think a waterproof fannypack is necessary, and I dont know of any that would be completely waterproof, but again that depends on where and when youre hiking. If you are in the Amazon during monsoon season then yeah waterproof haha. All jokes aside though, it depends on what you are carrying. I kept my camera in the fannypack for the whole hike and never had any issues with the rain. Some of that was because I used a poncho instead of a rain jacket though. The poncho covered everything and IMO is the way to go.

What shorts are you wearing?

Have seen that they updated the strap material and my biggest issue is fixed now.
Had the same problem with the zipper.
And being Pa'lante, they've already discontinued it.
oh dang really? When did that happen? Also answered one of your questions in the recent QA vid. :)
i havent thought about bringing a fanny pack and i like the idea. do you think it is important to have a waterproof one?

And I am still pissed the zipper goes exactly the wrong way. Just for me maybe but I hike the zipper to close toward my right arm.
What snacks are those in the Fanny pack?
Mostly pro bars in the video. But I put all sort of stuff in there. Trail mix, candy, protein bars, etc.
Pounds and ounces mean nothing to me
