The Goodness-of-Fit test is to decide whether the observed data coming from from the hypothesized distribution.
By making a summation of all the squared difference between observed and expected counts divided by expected counts, a test statistics which follows chi-squared distribution will be got if the sample comes from the hypothesized distribution.
Then a Goodness-of-Fit test becomes a Chi-squared test.
