Our E93 M3 Roars Like a Race Car! Intake Plenum Delete with Velocity Stacks E90 E92 Induction Noise
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 2 авг 2024
- Time for us to do a new crazy modification for the e93 M3; DIY velocity stacks by removing the intake plenum. The induction noise sounds just as loud as the open valved exhaust! The iconic BMW E92 M3 with its V8 engine has a very special intake sound that has made our driving experience much more enjoyable. Thank you all for following our build as we aim to make more content focused on budget e93 mods. Take care everyone!

Thanks for the support 🙏
Love the innovative ideas on this platform!
@@vincentng589 thanks 🙏
You could possibly swap sides with the stacks so they don't compete with each other for air..... and then have hood vents directly above them for fresh air.
Sound is very important, the F10 M5 is better on paper but driving a 560hp V8 with sound I don't like is never going to workout. Personally I like the high Rev high pitched symphony sound!
Absolutely agree! The driving experience is important and I’m glad you have your V10 M6 😊
Omg, to anyone considering this mod, don't do it!
Drawing in unfiltered air will ruin your engine! It might take several thousand miles to do it, but sooner or later it will wear out the bores and rings from the dust coming in, and you will lose compression! Changing the oil more often will make no difference to that.
And putting socks over the intakes is no where near good enough to filter the air properly! I don't know where people get that idea from! 🤣
Not to mention drawing in hot air which will lose you power (at least some other people have mentioned that).
I must admit though, it did sound the absolute nuts! 😁 But I'm so glad you since ditched that setup and have (I assume) a proper air filter again keeping that great S65 of yours clean and safe! 🙂 (PS Just posted this to put other people off, as above, I know you ditched this setup a while back).
Thanks for sharing. Was fun while it lasted, but not sustainable for a daily driven car.
@@Sals_Garage Must have given you a headache after a while?😉
@@Assimilator1 not really, it does not drone or sound unpleasant at all. It’s only loud when you rev it out. I changed to the carbon fiber complete intake setup because of reliability, looks, and uniqueness due to the glass top showing the velocity stacks.

Sounds good but I have concerns on intake temperatures and airflow. Kudos to taking the initiative to try something people normally don't do.
Thanks man. This is still version 1.0. There will be improvements and updates for the subscribers 👍
I legit have done the same thing of an open plenum individual runners on my E90 328i! Been using a K&N Prefilter as the beta filter for now!
Omg I need this set up! Generally with a straight pipe, the exhaust tends to drown out the intake sound. With this, it’s on equal standing. You outdid yourself yet again Sal😁
Thanks man! Yea so true, there is no other induction noise setup that is loud enough to match the volume of a loud exhaust.
Wow… it looks amazing 🔥 I’m sure there were many sleepless nights thinking about how to do it… hats off!
Thanks man! I always like to tinker with new experiments 😆
It sounds awesome! Can’t wait to hear it in person 🔥🔥🔥
Yea excited for the next hangout. Hope to see ya soon 🙌
You are a brave man, love the creativity!
I appreciate that! Glad it worked out well.
Very talented work! I'm impressed 👍😁
Thanks Carl! You the man!
That induction noise is soo good!
Yea! Sounds way louder in person 😮
Ouuuhh I was planning to paint my valve cover too since I have my high temp paint from painting my calipers. The exposed stacks look and sound sick.
Thanks brotha. Looking forward to doing some maintenance again soon 😊
Sounds sick! Love it!!
Thanks so much for the comment!
Very creative thought process to do this. Seems like a lot of work though. Well done!
It was a bit of work, but the process and experience was fun. The sound was also worth it 😊
That sounds soo good!
Thanks so much! 🙏
Excellent work
Thanks Dan!
Amazing job 👏
Thanks man! 🙏
Sounds great! Just would like to point out that the trumpet shape/lengths are tuned to accelerate the intake air and help the engine breath, putting anything in their tracks, in this case the rubber that holds the mesh screens, would disturb the intake flow. I’d say move the mesh screens to somewhere else, or just run the sock filters without the mesh screens. Otherwise an awesome mod.
Great suggestion! Thanks for the tip 🙏
Jesus Sal, that noise man 🤩
Yea even crazier in person 😮
God i would love to do that to my v10!! I follow a guy on ig that did it, and it took him some time to get it right, aka codes/limp mode but idk maybe that was just his m5. But holy shit that sounds beautiful 🙏
Thanks so much! Yea I would love to hear it on a V10 too! Would sound perfect I bet.
Crazy stuff!!!
Thanks bro! 🙏
It's the German Hot Rod! Love it
Hahaha good one! Thanks Jerms!
Crazy noise Sal!
For real! So fun 😊
this is crazy because I was just talking about doing the same thing but didn’t know what to do about the loose lines. please let us know if you find any issues with the setup. honestly i’m a little nervous about the mesh screen and i think the sock would be smarter long term. i think fine debris could slowly get sucked into each throttle body
Thanks for the comment. I agree that the sock filter will be better for the long term, I just added the mesh for the ability to quickly remove the socks for car meets and show off the throttle bodies 😆
I'll keep you all updated on any issues that come up. Thanks for watching!
This is great. I saw someone else on the forums pull this off but he was still working on the loose lines/oil breather valves. The little filters look like a great solution! Do you have a link to where you bought those?
Thanks! I used these filters. They also have red color: amzn.to/3uIoYsP
sick!!!
Thanks man!
This car sound poes jas 😍😍😍
Thank you so much 🙏
My favorite M3 sounds WICKED!
Thanks for the comment bro!
Awesome 👌 👏
Thanks brotha!
@@Sals_Garage well deserved sub 👏 looking forward more content all the best 👌
@@thehomelessproject3784 hell yea! Comments like this keep me going. Thanks a lot 🙌
Sounds good but it's a loss of power because it's a hot air intake now
The sound is worth the small loss of hp
Sounds awesome! Btw, what are you using for your media system? It doesn’t seem like the oem
I use this one: ruclips.net/video/GlAJVvj9ks8/видео.html
Product link: amzn.to/3ILCxh4
Next you should run them into the cabin. 😆
I have a video of a sound tube into the cabin 😆
Bro where did you find that brake petal? Mine has the smallest brake pedal it’s a pain to left foot brake, any halp is appreciated! Super neat stuff bro…
Thanks! I used this brake pedal and just attached it to my smaller brake pedal. It still fits. 👍
How’s the smell inside the cabin with that oil vapor leaking out? Very curious
Not noticeable at all. I run catless x pipe and I don’t smell that either. My sense of smell isn’t that great though.
What are you running for those gages to come up on the screen? I also like the engine brace. Any info on where to find them would be great. Thanks!
I have a video on the android headunit install. I use Torque Pro for the gauges.
Also the engine brace is this one: amzn.to/3PgciBH
Android head unit: amzn.to/3Pg6Xuj
Thanks man I’ll check out the videos. I have a 2009 e-92 M3
You didn't again SAL! good job man
Thanks man!!
just to know.
there is no air filter?
how the oil vapor filters works? you can buy it separetly?
pd: Nice car
All filters work without issue, links are in the description, follow up video here: ruclips.net/video/8TH4_AKy-fA/видео.htmlsi=nVnBfjV5KKk2LG0b
If you love 8 miles to the gallon ♥️ this vehicle is for you lol. Good video though.
9 smiles per gallon at least outpaces the poor MPG 😆
I heard that lol.
Sal, can you do a step by step on painting your valve covers on your next video.. Thank you in advance
Will do in the future. Right now just saving money for the parts. The gasket, spark plug tubes, vanos covers, drei bond sealant, etc is expensive 😆
@@Sals_Garage thank you Sir.
@@nvicente79 anytime 👍
You put on a full size brake pedal cover..?
Yep, cheap aluminum pedal covers.
Yo, did you consider just removing the plexiglass and putting sock filters over the trumpets? Do you think that would work too?
Good idea but won’t work since you cannot filter the 3-4 connections that are inside the plenum. If debris gets in the ICV or secondary air pump/valves it can be bad for the engine.
@@Sals_Garage gotcha thanks 👍 I am so tempted to do this for my car but would be so lazy putting back the plenum when weathers bad...
@@Sals_Garage what's your thoughts on your current set up with bad weather or rain? Do you risk the water getting inside the trumpets?
Wonder what my V10 would sound like?
Ask Carl’s Garage on RUclips to come to me and I’ll do it for him 😆
Any idea how much IAT's rise when in traffic?
I peaked at 130 degrees Fahrenheit on a 95 degree day in traffic. Haven’t noticed any performance issues 👍
👍🏻
Thanks Sauce!
I thought about doing this once but then I remembered all the middle east dust 😅 I'm too afraid to do it
I probably wouldn’t either. I’m searching for foam filter socks to keep the engine clean 👍
Any problems with the set up yet keep us informed
Yea! Will keep you all updated. 👍
Where did you get the windscreen for the back?
amzn.to/3My848y
$600? Damn! I just bought the screen and backup camera you recommended. How well does the screen work???
@@rrwertz night and day difference with reducing wind noise and controlling your hair flying everywhere when the top is down at highway speeds. It also folds in half for easy storage in the trunk.
taking the top off and leaving the stock funneling would have made it louder bruh, iat thru the roof
Right on
Sick
Thanks brotha
Sal now cut the hood !
I'll try if I can get some hood vents that I like.
needs filters bad
Coming soon in a new video near you
I watch Sal’s vids for the occasional exhaust clip or basic reference material; but he also provides some good entertainment value through doing cringey shit like this. The only good thing about this crap is the the views generated
True that 😆
All those bot comments 😂 No one gonna talk about having paddleshit in a manuel?
It’s actually a DCT 👍
Changing oil earlier will not stop ring wear and block bore wear from dust inhalation from lack of proper media. Bad idea
Exactly. Not a very smart thing to do to any motor.
Individual air filters are already installed. Follow up video soon. Sounds a little quieter with the filters. 👍
@@Sals_Garage smart move! Sounds great , but u have to keep it safe. 👍🏼
Ricer....
Thanks for the compliment 👍
It’s just louder but not better. I’m sure will provide some temperature issue and less power. Carbon race plenum is 10 times better
Carbon plenum is also 10x the price. I’ll take a louder better sound for free 👍
People hate because we don’t didn’t pay thousands of dollars for a fancy carbon fiber intake plenum. We just showed that you don’t need to pay a lot to get better results. Btw we have ways to keep our engine cool so don’t worry about it.
Say goodbye to your cylinder walls running no filters 👋🏼🤦🏻♂️
Goodbye 👋
It sounds like an AMG? If you want a car sounding like one, you should buy one 🤷🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️
Are you deaf? It’s at light throttle. Have you not heard the 8600 rpm redline? Damn you haters been slacking 🖕
They making AMGs with ITBs? Yeah didn’t think so 😂 the amg motor is not special. It’s just a german LS. it makes power and gets the job done. it’s not exotic like BMW M motors. The AMG has no soul. no contest here. and this does not sound one bit similar
@@dho what I meant was at very light throttle our S65 sounds like a big engine. Obviously once you rev it out both cars do not sound alike 👍
Car ruined
Runs better than ever 👍
Well that engine will be junk soon
Still going strong 💪
Ugly M3, stupid idea, annoying giddy girlfriend..... Sounds amazing!!! 😮
Me and my wife just had a natural reaction to the sound coming from the engine. Please keep the insults away from her, totally fine to criticize me or the car. 👍
@@Sals_Garage hey brotha, I would keep anything off social media that I'm sensitive about being criticized for... Wife included.... For the record it was no disrespect intended.. Just my opinions, which I'm entitled to... blessings...🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾
