One of the best voices I've ever heard.
The current generation could use a lesson on just how beautiful a love song can be.
I don't know what happened
@@joefox9765The dream ended when everyone got woke.
Craig Chaquico ... high on the list of all time great guitarists that never fully got their due. Along with Gary Richrath (REO Speedwagon) and Elliot Easton (The Cars)
Very true with all you say.
Gary Richrath 👍
Amen john.
Mickey Thomas is one of the best voices of rock. 🎙🎤🎶
And Tim Bachman (Bachman Turner Overdrive)
Grace slick & Mickey Thomas together. Can it ever be better?
I don’t think so but I’d be grateful if someone could point one out bc I want more!
There was something magical about the early days of music video
mickey and graces' voices compliment each other so well! great harmonies!
Mickey Thomas has one of the most underrated voices in rock and roll.
And so does Grace!!!
And, from what I understand, he can still belt it out in the same keys as the original recordings.
Is "underrated" the only word in your vocabulary as a critic? What is it with your peer group? ACROSS THE BOARD ON YOTUBE " underrated" is thrown around like candy at a confectioner's convention. IF you bothered to actually check the critical rankings, YOU WOULD LEARN that Mickey Thomas is hailed as ONE OF THE GREATEST ROCK MALE VOCALISTS.
@@denirakich5266 ONLY IF YOU ARE ON DRUGS! GRACE SLICK IS LISTED BY BOTH FANS AND CRITICS AS ONE OF THE GREATEST FEMALE VOCALISTS IN ROCK HISTORY. HAVE you been snorting rock through your crack?
I love him!
Mickey and Grace sound so amazing together.
I so appreciate the organic quality of this song and video, which can never be duplicated today.
Criminally underrated!
Jefferson Airplane/Jefferson Starship/Starship was a great band
Grace and Mickey were just magic together!
This reminds me of those early June mornings on the very first days of summer vacation, Soccer camp, and how simple / lovely things were to be a child and how warm and safe the early 80's felt.
I went to summer camp too during the summers of 81 and 82. What a great time for America and to be a newly minted teenager.
Yep. 70s and early 80s were great. My oldest son was born in 89 and his mother passed a little more than a year later. Life became hard but were filled with joy because of him. He's 35 now with two sons and doing great. For many reasons life has been really hard but I feel extremely fortunate and truly blessed. And I'm strong as steel inside because of it.
Very underrated song. Grace and Micky and the band did a great job with this song. God bless them
My god she sounds like Janis Joplin
@@elenaofavalormoanadisneypr6893 she died after 2 albums
This Band is fabulous, the Airplane & the Starship always spoke to this west coast youth 😊
something about Craig Chaquico's haunting guitar, Mickey Thomas lead and Grace Slicks backup makes this just a freaking great and powerful song from the 80's that got lost in the shuffle. Thank you for the reminder
very underrated Jefferson Starship tune, should have gone higher than #28 on BB IMO
Doobie1975 It would be a miracle to find any station playing this tune now!
+MrCarl220 Yes it kind of ran, ran, ran away.......
+K Steves Well put!
Thank you MrCarl220! :)
+MrCarl220 True, I never hear it on the radio stations that play top 40 hits from the 70's & 80's. I never hear any of their material from this time period.
Mickey Thomas and Grace Slick voices blend beautifully! Love the guitar in this song. This is another #1 hit from Starship. Been a fan since the 70's. Kimie:)
This song could build a city.
I would name it St. Charles.
Lovely
I love the videos where Mickey didn’t wear glasses. He always had the prettiest deep dark brown eyes.
Ms Grace, please hang around awhile so you can show these so called divas how it's done!!!
I agree with some here. It just didn’t get the airplay but absolutely love it.
Such a romantic song! I have known women who made me feel like this and I currently know one who makes me feel exactly like he describes in this song.
I've always had a special place in my heart for this song!
Me too..Makes me feel so good listening to it . I love the instrumental at the end
It's one of my favorites too...Hard to believe it was made 38 years ago. Heck , those woman are probably in their 70's now ....How fleeting youth is
I miss Grace Slicks voice she was amazing.
She's not deceased yet is she ?

This song is Magic! ❤
I first heard Be My Lady on a old episode of American top 40 with Casey Kasum from 1983. I fell in love from the first note. This is my favorite JS song.
Be My Lady hit the charts. 40 years later, it still resonates!
Just discovered Mickey Thomas - Wow! He can sing this to me any day!
Dawn Driscoll i just recently discovered him too! i love his voice!
Welcome to the club you two Mickey is awesome
Did you guys know Mickey is the vocal on Elvin Bishop's 'Fooled Around and Fell in Love'? Check it out.
@@ginag1440 That was where I 'discovered' him. I saw the Fooled Around video of the live performance on the Midnight Special. I just had to find out who the singer was! Stunning performance.
@@ginag1440 yup
I can't believe this doesn't have more views.
1:39 - 1:52 is the hottest part of this video, IMO. I just love seeing Mickey Thomas and Grace Slick sing together.
What a great simple song with amazing vocals. I love Grace's quirky character and what she brings to every song. Mickey is amazing! Another simple video concept but it dates well.
Micky was a very suitable replacement for Marty Balin, who was also amazing!
This is an excellent song, and the production is top-notch. This deserved to be a bigger hit, but it is one of my Jefferson Starship favorites. Similar in tempo and feel to "Jane."
2020, 7 yr old daughter loves this song. So does daddy....
I just learned of this song last night, and just now heard it in this video. It didn’t rise to the level of songs such as “Stranger”’and “Find Your Way Back”, but it’s a fine song nonetheless. I’d like to hear this while me and the wife get romantic.
Great song I remember it I'm 50 and the early and mid 80s kicked ass crusing in my z28 playing my tapes tee tops off listening to Jane partying and doing smoke shows in Carver mass good old music and good old days starship rocks
I have always loved this song!
Lucky, the girl at 1:22 Beautiful song, haven’t heard it in many years. Now it’s where it belongs-on my short playlist of favorite songs 🌸
One of my all time favourite songs-period.
Yeah. I really liked this song a lot but alas, it didn’t get enough “love” at the local radio station in my town bec they didn’t play it enough so it would catch on (at least in the radio market where I lived).
Listening in 2021, missing the good old days.
This song was one of the many MTV love songs that inspired me to take up guitar and write my first song.
Look up " what do all the people know song" and you will remember it
Ya the good feelings the starship brought in the 80s. Wish I could relive those days again,of course the starship would have to bring that feeling
Oooogh Bring Back The 80s XXX PLEAZE. Wow What an Amazing Time to Live in. So Cool. X. MUSIK POWER. LOVE & PEACE X
I loved this song since I first heard it in 1987 wow 😲 I need to do this at kereoke one day
Love this forgotten song! I grew up in SW Louisiana and remember hearing it back in ‘82 on our then top40 radio station, KBIU-FM “Bayou 104” in Lake Charles.
Mickey thomas its 2024 and his voice just doesnt stop
One of my all time favorite songs
Just one look at YOU AND I'M HYPNOTIZED...
great song
I always loved this song. In 1982, I was about 18 yo and a yr out of high school. I’m pretty sure we didn’t have MTV as offered in cable in my area and cable itself was brand new to the area where I lived, so not a lot of ppl even had cable, yet MTV wasn’t carried by the cable company as of yet and was added later.
I heard this lovely tune a couple of times on the radio and loved it.
One of Jefferson Starship's better songs from the "Jane" era. This definitely should have done better on the radio but it was, unfortunately, drowned out by the song "Jane" which got top billing and radio play on most stations across the US and abroad. Had the disc jockey's played this a little more, it would have definitely been up there on the US top Billboard Charts. Many people now days don't realize that back then, the Disc Jockey's could "make or break" a song. The more air play it got, the better a song did. That was the facts back then on FM radio. This is a great song from that time period. Very late 70's/early 80's vibe to it for sure. I was in High School when this came out. Fantastic Jefferson tune for sure. Grace and Mickey have great harmonies on this one.
Well said...absolutely true. Of course with MTV becoming a force around the time of this song, I think they became at least as influential as the radio stations on what sold. I'm about your age...I was 21 when this song was released. What a great time period in which to come of age!
Jane overshadowed this song?? Check your timeline. Jane was from 1979's Freedom At Point Zero, then came 1981's Modern Times with Find Your Way Back , then came 1982's Wind Of Change with this single.
Winds of change should have done better on the charts also. 1982 had MTV new music and it was a tough time R&R groups.
@@bobwolenski5720 Yes but they were still playing Jane in 1982...haha Just joking around :-)
I thought by the time period “Jane” was getting airtime in the radio, management prepared playlists of what was to be played and took their ques from what the record chose to release as singles? Maybe I’m wrong.
have not heard this since I was a teen
It always takes me back to 6th-7th grade.
Me too, 7th grade. Early mtv

Really miss the great Bay area bands and their sound from the 70s and 80s. Some of the best music ever produced.
I have not heard this one before I like it and Mickey and Grace Sound so awesome together 💓🤟🌹
Creig Chaquico is One Of My All Time Favorite Guitarist
Beautiful song. Great guitar by Craig and on the rest of the album. Such a unique sound.
Absolutely love this song it is soo awesome
What memories 😁
Damn! thanks for posting, I remember this video on MTV!
I see no one here on 2022??Who else likes this jam?
That guitar line is so haunting....👍🔥💕
Great voice
Awesome song, for an awsome music video, by an awesome rock band...
Jane was released in 79 on Freedom at Point Zero without Grace Slick in the band. Be My Lady was on 1982's Wind's Of Change album and Grace was back.
Why wasn’t Grace there when Freedom at Point Zero was recorded?
I know why she wasn’t there when Love Among the Cannibals was produced 10 years later...she retired.
One of my all time personal favourites. Perhaps the world's greatest feel good song. Definitely, the perfect song before or after (or during) the perfect date movie.
Mickey and Grace sounded pretty good together.
Classic in so many ways
Precioso tema , la voz de Mickey es el balance perfecto para la voz de Grace y mezclándose hacen oro puro
Ouvia muito quando era pequena ❤🩷Q sdds!💜💙
Love these guys and gal.
Gorgeous song, sadly forgotten by radio stations over the years. Cheesy video, though. Ah, who cares? Love this tune forever!
This was my second favorite album from the Starship but even in late 1982 this was not getting a lot of radio play while total junk rock was.
I bought this album as soon as I heard it was being released October 1982. Radio programmers were not receptive to them in the early 1980s for some reason, they were more spacey and less simple than the other rock bands.
+Davin Dx my 2nd fav too fav was 1978 Earth
+David Gladwell you can thank all of the acid and hallucinate drugs they did and were doing for that.
Lots of videos back then were cheesy but the music was out of this world.
Couldn't agree more. The video is laughable; the song is gorgeous!
Awesome
I just have to dedicate this song to my true Friend and Love, Miss Kandie Keane!🌹🐝🦄💋💓😘
I heard this on the Big 80's countdown from 1982 earlier. It's a really good tune that gets overlooked
The sweetest moment in this video is at 1:20 - 1:26.. What a sweet song..
My boyfriend says this song gives him a headache I think it's awesome love the guitars
Memories now. I've said these words. Still alone.
this was a really great song:) too bad it was way under rated:(
Classic!
This song and video really captured the essence of the early 80's post-Balin Starship. Winds of Change was the beginning of the end of their creative rock period. Craig C's guitar is truly haunting in this song. I love the chick who gets the kiss after his first solo. Kantner is merely a stand up prop, like a mere figurehead from aged royalty.
+Todd Thornton he is just walking sex on legs..well he was. That man had the looks and the big package and didn't care how he got his rocks off be it male or female..not sure about today.
By this time Kanter was pretty much on his way out. He did still write for them - and continued to do so on Nuclear Furniture. However, as he said in an interview, he could not write a simple song to save his life. By that time America was not really wanting complex, politics-themed songs clothed in layer of allegory. Music was going downhill at that point. Kanter made an exit at the right time, although lots of think it was the downfall of the group. When he left nobody was left of the core of Jefferson Starship, much less Jefferson Airplane.
Grace Slick *-*
Fooled around and fell in love. Mickey Thomas with Elvin Bishop.
Save Your Love Jefferson Starship
I know I heard this song back then but I never really paid attention till now. It sure put me back in those days though the way only music can ! :-) Anyway great song...I became a huge Mickey Thomas fan after I realized he was the one that sang - Fooled Around and fell in love ! What a voice !!
Feel the FIRES start...
I just look at you
And I'm hypnotized
Like I'm drowning now
Drowning in your eyes
You are beautiful
Past imagining
And I want you more
More than anything
And I cannot speak
And I've lost my sight
All my senses gone
Lost in you tonight
And I want your love
Be my lady be my lady
Do I ask too much
Do I want too much
Want to know you now
Want to feel your touch
You just look at me
Feel the fire start
Want to make you burn
Want to touch your heart
And I cannot speak
And I've lost my sight
All my senses gone
Lost in you tonight
And I want your love
Be my lady be my lady
Got a racing heart
And my minds a roar
Never felt like this
Never loved before
And it's dangerous
I would willingly
Burn to ashes now
If you'll stay with me
And I cannot speak
And I've lost my sight
All my senses gone
Lost in you tonight
And I want your love
Be my lady be my lady
Nice work Mickey .
I wish Mickey would sing this song at concerts.
one occasion rock and rolls finest bands
The women in the video have got nothing on Grace. She blows them all away...
2021 ANYONE ENJOY.....
good group
Forever!!! ❤❤
Grace tuffest voice
Luv this song. Takes me back to my party crazy times in high school
Never hear this song any more
Dunbar played drums on the album, this is Baldwin in the video though if I'm not mistaken.
Your correct that’s baldwin on drums this video
Man....that slide guitar.....mmmmm mmm m❤️
Mickey Thomas reminds me of John Oates
He does.
Luv this song.
