Not only is this song a masterwork of pop songwriting, performed by the highest calibre musicians one could ever hope to find, but the music video is a piece of art as well.
songs like this make you appreciate the swing beat in rhythm sections the bass and the drums and how the whole band comes together as a collective all the big songs have it

Imagine growing up at the beginning of the golden era of music videos and this comes on your television. I would hum this jam while riding my bike, going to see my guys, and fell in love with this groovy tune. Sometimes I get down and want to go back to the 80's, see my family members who have gone on to the next life, have the innocence of youth, and rock out to jams like this all day long.
Well how bout that it's never too late to find good music and if you actually think about it you didn't really have to look far you just had to start looking in the 80s section forget about the modern crap some of it's OK most just sound the same.
Their many types of songs and their type of music serve as a benchmark for other bands around the world. I happen to be from Indonesia and there is a band here similar to Toto, his name is Dewa19
Toto, you are amongst my earliest music memories. I can still see me standing in the lounge, age 7, hearing Africa on Top of the Pops, because it was No.1 again, and feeling something calling me to a world far beyond my little town. I'll never grow tired of your music. I only have 3 questions: 1 How do you write a song like this? 2.Could this be the greatest middle 8 section of all time? 3. Why don't I possess a Toto album?
Absolutely agree I loved/love Toto. Africa dominated the charts but Rosanna and Hold The Line are brilliant. I never had their album but now I'm musically matured 🤓 Toto are great 👍
Stephen Marcus Toto absolutely DID do live concerts. Still do. (Minus a few original members). There's a whole bevy of clips to chose from right here on RUclips. Check it out and enjoy! They really were/are a great band!
Funny thing is that I loved this song growing up and now I love it even more. The little things that Bobby Kimball does in between the main lyrics really enrich the song. For example, when he says " I never knew that losing you would ever hurt so bad". It's not the lyric itself,it's the way he sings and expresses it that is incredibly moving! This band hit it out of the park with this song!
The woman in the video is Cynthia Rhodes i believe. She was also in Dirty Dancing and Staying Alive with Travolta. She was a professional dancer and an icon back in the day
We have been blessed with some amazing vocalists for Toto over the years, but I have to take a pretty strong stand in saying that I think Bobby Kimball is the GOAT for this band.

Funny thing is that I loved this song growing up and now I love it even more. The little things that Bobby Kimball does in between the main lyrics really enrich the song.
