The development discs had extra content like spongebob shorts, and possibly even earlier stuff before spongebobs public debut! Anyways, the discs were used for the team to copy off things and experiment. The tea at treedome alt card was probably saved as an archive and it is also an example of a coloring error, so it was never shown on TV. You can also find more at the lost media fandom, theres lots of very interesting stuff there too.

The thing that really fascinates me about this ARG is that it reads almost like a creepypasta, but with mystery instead of horror. The slightly off-putting video quality and audio is what really sells me on this concept. Watching the original clip with no context leaves you feeling slightly unhinged, like when you put the wrong kind of disc into a video game console - everything seems normal enough, but at the same time, there’s this feeling of suspension and tension in the air as you stare at the “unable to read disc” error message, as if you’re waiting for a jumpscare that you know will never come. I’m both excited and slightly nervous to see what else this channel has in store for us.

Likely because lost media can have a bit of an eerie feel to it. In an era in which we can access almost any information or media we want, the concept of something simply disappearing without a trace is viewed as odd and perhaps a bit scary. That said, I'd say the traces of fear that often come with researching and viewing lost media stems from our natural fear of the unknown.
