Some might have remembered this photo as the embarassing christmas party photo.

    And honestly, these don't exactly sound like Mandela effects for SpongeBob fans but rather casual viewers who saw an episode once and never looked back. "The Krusty Krab Training Video" is one of the better-known episodes from the Hillenburg age and the bait-and-switch ending is one of its iconic moments. I'm hard-pressed to imagine any SpongeBob fan misremembering that as being the exact opposite instead of a variation of what happened (like the scene cutting to static instead of the end credits or something like that).

    5:22 For the shoelaces, the Mandela Effect never occurred to me since I like drawing SpongeBob a lot when I was younger. The look of his shiny black shoes had already been burned to my mind that I am very certain the shoelaces were never present and it was only for the episode's sake.
    6:51 For the lipstick, I was also affected as I do remember SpongeBob finishing it, but he says "Coral Blue Number 52". Although, I speculate that I was mixed with the "62 cents" from "Born Again Krabs" because of the emphasis the Dutchman put on saying "62" seemingly fits well with how SpongeBob talks, at least for my young mind, and misremembered the voice as SpongeBob's.
    9:33 The gag of cutting the narrator off when saying the Formula was burned into my memory because I saw it in TV first, so I laughed very loudly when it cuts immediately to the episode's special credits sequence. When I was young, I've always lamented that the DVD version didn't include the credits, so the cut-off felt hollow.
    10:16 Ironically, I wasn't affected becaus, back then, I felt like they should've added more people complaining since having few people complaining felt like his defeat is a bit lackluster.
    12:03 Ngl, I loved Atlantis Squarepantis, so I kinda memorized the entire special and its songs since I've watched it so many times, so nothing really felt off for me.

      Yeah, I think many people forget that kinds watching TV shows together, they like embellish it as they go, add their own commentary, and then afterwards, they retell and act it out again and again, until it has changed quite a bit. And of course these memories kinda stick in the head the same way as the actual episode.

However, I do also think there may be some mix-up with the training video and some other instances in which ingredients have been listed (Plankton's Army, The Great Patty Caper). The expectation plus the memories of recipes being listed elsewhere could've easily merged into the assumption that they were listed in that episode.

I know it's SpongeBob, but the peanut guitar makes the whole thing look weird and, well.. goofy. It was supposed to be an awesome, epic moment, and the V-shaped rocker guitar added to that.
    As for the Krusty Krab Training Video, I don't remember the recipe ever being revealed, but it does end MUCH more abruptly than I remembered. Way back when I first watched it, I remember it was like "The Krabby Patty Secret Foruma is...!" and then it ended. But the "is" is cut off so abruptly now, it almost sounds like an editing error. It's a minor change, but it's jarring to hear.

    The mandala effect is interesting, because the conclusions that people always imagine always seem to be better versions of what actually happens. Or ones that makes more sense in context.
    A wonderful example is the thinker statue, who people imagine to have his chin resting on a closed fist, when in reality, his hand is slumped against his face, in a very illogical manner.
    A popular theory is the human brain is so used to filling in the gaps of our memories, that it will correct details that doesn't seem to fit conventional wisdom. It therefore conjures fake memories that make more sense to the individual. Since human brains function similarly, this can happen on a large scale.

I specifically remember at the end where Plankton falls in the machine, the computer (Karen) said he was made up of 50% Plank and 50% Ton. I remember this being funny because at the first object he puts in which is Sea weed and when he put it in it said 50% Sea 50% Weed, so at the end it would’ve showed that even if he did put the Patty into the machine he wouldn’t of gotten the ingredients but rather a variant of that.
    However that’s not how the scene goes, in the actual episode Karen says, 10% Evil and 90% Hot gas (Or something around those lines I don’t quite remember) this blew my mind as I didn’t remember it going like that at all.

    That snapshot of Spongebob at the Christmas Party one is the most terrifying one because it's been plaguing me for years. I remember seeing him with his pants down in the photo, kinda like in Ripped Pants, but in his house decorated for a Christmas Party as described, even with some of his other friends in the shot. I'm convinced that this was bonus material during the bumpers outside of the episode at some point and I just associate it with the description Patrick gives.

    I think a lot of these are age things. When you’re super young, its easy to misremember things. Im old enough to remember when these episodes first aired and a lot of the things that people claim they remember, but never happened, I also know didn’t happen. Especially for older episodes. To the point that Im actually surprised that a lot of these mandela effects are so heavily “remembered”. Like I’ve always remembered Spongebobs guitar in the movie being a peanut, so Im shocked people ever thought it was anything different, especially since the peanut/goofy goober thing was literally a major theme in the movie. Or that people “remembered” Patricks secret photo of Spongebob was ever revealed, when I never recalled that happening. The Pickles episode I remember it happening exactly the way it was shown, and dont recall anything like people adding more things Bubble Bass stole.
    Later episodes I can’t speak on, because I stopped watching Spongebob sometime around season 4/5ish, but yeah.

    • @nyancat8828

      The guitar being purple would have been so weird, too. Purple outfit with a purple guitar? It would have blended in too much whereas the peanut stands out against the outfit. It wouldn't have even made sense colour-wise.

    • @chocolateblocks
      @chocolateblocks Год назад +2

      that doesn't really explain the mandela effect entirely, though. it's a collective misremembering of the same thing. so it can't just be "its easy to misremember things when youre young"

      I was in my early 20’s when the show first aired and I was obsessed with it for a number of years. I’m familiar with all the episodes shown except Atlantis Squarepantis, and the movie. I clearly remember every one of those episodes as they are shown here to have actually happened.

    • @ohmyprettygirl
      @ohmyprettygirl Год назад +2

      @@chocolateblocks Its a collective misremembering because most of the people who swear they remembered things differently were toddlers or born after these episodes aired.
      A lot of comments I read even have people describing other things they swore happened that weren’t talked about in the video, but I remember them exactly as they aired. At this point people are calling their own personal misinterpretations are Mandela effects. I genuinely just think that some events from other episodes get mixed up with each other. Like, there are a lot of shows I watched as a kid where in specific episodes, I could’ve sworn things happened differently, but once I rewatched it later on I see wasn’t the case. Im not chalking that up as the mandela effect simply because I could’ve sworn it was different.

    • @chocolateblocks
      @chocolateblocks Год назад

    The interesting thing about the embarrassing photo from the Christmas party is that I've now heard three different descriptions of the photo including my own - I VERY distinctly remember seeing Patrick holding the photograph, and it was Spongebob tangled up in a bunch of Christmas lights, and I remember thinking "That's it, huh?" And wouldn't you know it: In the German version he actually says "It's coral blue no. 3" the moment he gets hit and I'm shocked to see it not being in the English version aswell. Maybe people mistook the German one for the original somehow. The German word for 3 does sound a bit like the English word for 5 if you don't speak German (both make an 'i' sound). Or it was in the original but then cut out at some point.

At the very end of the episode, there's a black screen where SpongeBob yells "What? It'll grow back!" and I feel like that was definitely either edited and chopped together with the ending or thrown in as a reassurance to make the close-up less horrifying.

    My favorite part about all these Mandela effect videos is that none of them have ever affected me. I always remember things exactly how they are because I know that my mind will often misremember things and I'm not stubborn enough to think that my memory is an infallible fortress of every single thing I've ever witnessed in my life.
    I'm not trying to sound rude, I'm just exaggerating the point that you will not experience any of these if you just have a different mindset. I think it's the same thing with paranormal shit. So many people have different stories about things they've seen and I just never seen anything.

    I remember the guitar being v shaped and purple, and I think we’re all drawing from his outfit for the colors and maybe even the design. He’s got a flowy purple cloak and sharp white boots, so it makes sense that those could combine in some way in our heads for the guitar. But I know that yellow square said coral blue number 5. Honestly I don’t get Mandela effect for any of the other ones, but I do remember these two.
