    Thanks for the video. IEEE, just say, I triple E. I plan on replacing my sonoff USB with the SMLight unit. Currently creating a document to follow so that it goes smoother. I currently have an SMLight running as a router and bought a second unit that will replace the SONOFF. I have HA running on HA blue. I self host MQTT, Z2M, Node-red, influxdb and ESPHome as LXC running on Proxmox. I like to have other features still running when HA is rebooting and I have more control. I still need to migrate ESPHome device that are talking to ESPHome with the Add-on on HA.

    • @digiblurDIY

      Pretty simple to migrate Esphome, copy the yaml files and done as it isn't really in between HA and the ESP devices, it is more of a compile/upgrade tool.

    I just migrated to a SLZB-06 from a Sonoff USB. I updated the SLZB-06 radio firmware to the latest 20240710 and the core to v2.3.6. I then unplugged the Sonoff then and configured Zigbee2MQTT serial port to use the SLZB-06 address. All my devices automagically appeared after Z2M restarted. No address cloning required. I'm in love with this device.

    • @propellerhead2000
      @propellerhead2000 Месяц назад

      It's worth noting that zigbee2mqtt will automagically clone the ieee-address by flashing the slzb-06 with the address stored in coordination_backup.yaml at the first connection.

    Migration complete. Triple checked all the changes to be made before throwing the switch, so to speak. Did a few tests and all is looking well. The only strange thing that I have come across so far is, that in the Z2M web interface. When it shows the map, the coordinator symbols is jumping around. If, I uncheck the IsASibling option, it stops. Will have to search and see if anyone else has come across this. Thanks again, for sharing with us how to do it.

For that scenario, does the restriction (requirement of repairing the whole network) of old adapters (such as Conbee) still applies or is it limited to the scenario described in the 2nd part of the video (from usb to usb). Thanks

    Another great video. I do have a couple questions.
    I run HA at my house and my folks live across the street. I do have a 5.8ghz link between the houses providing network and Internet connectivity. I am currently running the Sonoff bridge at each house and run Z2M and ZHA. I would like to consolidate everything into one interface. With the SLZB06, I can run the coordinator at the main house and the router at the second house. Does the router communicate through the network or over RF back to the coordinator? The houses are far enough apart where connectivity becomes spotty.
    I am currently using the Sonoff Bridge Pro at both locations and each one is a coordinator. Is it possible to reconfigure one of these to be a router like the SLZB06?

    • @digiblurDIY
      @digiblurDIY  3 месяца назад

      You would need to get a Zigbee route going between two Zigbee devices between the two houses. That might be possible with 2 Zigbee routers with panel antennas. I've done it across the neighborhood before. But in the sake or reliability, if your 5.8ghz link is solid. I'd just run two SLZB-06 with two Z2M instances myself.
      You can't have zigbee use the wifi link between routers, that's a Thread feature though.

    Prepared the slzb-06 (IEEE, firmware updates & fixed IP), stopped the z2m container, removed the usb device from portainer stack, replaced the serial from the configuration.yaml and redeployed the container.
    All devices were online within a minute. No power down, no re-pairing necessary.

After watching your video and seen how easy it was I, bought the SLZB and migrated over without too much issue. Only thing I found was that notwithstanding I changed in the address in the configuration portion of Zigbee2Mqtt in HA, I had to also manually edit the yaml file with same new address, as it was still pointing to the old coordinator (Zonoff) address. Changed this and bingo everything up and running. Beauty of using the POE is I can now place that coordinator in a more 'central' location which isnt necessarily tied to the server like my old USB zigbee coordinator. Thanks once again! Super easy.

      That's the tough one...switching channels will require a pairing on most devices I've found.
      Thanks on the content comments. I just try to keep it real as always as I do this for fun and try to keep it that way.

    Wanted to migrate for awhile, but we have Zigbee devices (around 110) all over the property. all the videos I had found up to this point said they all needed to be repaired once it was installed. That wasn't going to work as over half of those would require a ladder to get to. Thank you for this video, I ordered a dongle as soon as I finished watching this and fingers crossed, will be attempting this when it arrives!

    I’ve been having all kinds of issues with Zigbee2MQTT, seems like usually after a Home Assistant update, a few to several devices just stop working, no idea why. I have found that if I go into the add on and rename the device, I usually just add a 1, then move the slider that says Update entity ID, then do it again but remove the 1 and normally it starts working again. Anyone else having these issues? I’m having it on several completely separate installs too.

      I wish my Generac was designed where if the power dropped it just disconnected it. Waited for the generator to start and come up then flip us over. Then start a timer where the power had to be constant for a solid 15 min before it dropped us back on the grid.

    Thanks for the video, should be getting a slzb-06 from aexpress in a few weeks, just to expand my network, while it seems straight forward to add another coordinator to z2mqtt, how do i prevent multiple coordinators fighting over devices while pairing, as there is going to be some overlap

      No, that is EFR based. AFIAK I know the migration path is re-pair between differing chipsets.

    Sigh. I desperately need an easy path for migrating TI to Silicon Labs.

    • @digiblurDIY

      That's an odd path... I think ZHA might be able to do it.

    • @byehl
      @byehl 3 месяца назад

      Is it really odd tho? Nabu Casa decided to use SL chips in their hardware for whatever reasons, while TI has long been the "preferred" choice. Definitely my bad for buying the SLZB-06M knowing there was no solution for migrating in z2m.

    • @digiblurDIY
      @digiblurDIY  3 месяца назад

      I prefer the TI chipsets myself given they just have better compatibility with Z2M. I can see HA going the SL route though given their focus is ZHA. Not to really say one chip is better than the other, if I was using ZHA then I would probably go SL as well.
